I usually get a shellac manicure from her and it's always perfect. My mother in law gets acrylics and hers always look amazing too. I don't have any experience with any of the other employees at Meli but they are always smiling and inviting as I walk to the back where Jena works. Was told I couldn't use both (I would have to give one away) because they had been bought by the same credit card. Yes, they were, because we used one credit card for all Christmas purchases. I had booked a second appointment (at my own expense since told I couldn't use both certificates) but had to cancel the day before my appointment because of illness. I called back the morning of to make sure manicurist received the message. Several weeks later, I receive an email from Living Social that I had not used my second certificate. I called the salon for two weeks, trying to reach manicurist and finally talked to someone else. I was then told that I could use the certificate for a facial or massage. Later that evening (about 7:45 pm.) I received a very rude and demeaning phone call from the manicurist telling me I had forfeited my certificate for not canceling within 24 hours. How can you forfeit something that wasn't being used because SHE said I couldn't???? She said I had not been trying to reach her that this was the only call she had received....funny that she received it ONLY after I spoke with someone else and did not leave the message directly on her extension!!!!! I came here as it was recommended by my parents for a basic no polish mani and a basic pedi with polish. I came right at opening time and it wasn't busy and had just a few people working. I didn't wait at all and was quickly attended to and while seated at the pedicure chair was handed the list of services to choose from. The person that did my services seemed very green and almost afraid to touch me. While very gentle, I feel like he didn't get my cuticles on neither my feet or hands very good at all and it seemed he kept asking what to do next and where to find what he needed. I get that basic services at nail salons are not the norm these days, but I'm basic and keep my nails short and clean. Perhaps this just isn't what they are accustomed to doing here. Service was friendly enough and the place is large and modern looking located in a small shopping center. They had a large selection of powders and dips for nail art. The cleanliness that I feel is important in a nail salon wasn't apparent and for that I could only give 3 stars. (Nail dust everywhere, messy tools and supplies haphazardly about and this was all at opening time, which is when it should be the cleanest IMO.) My toes look great, nails eh, and for basic services and no polish on my hands (just toes) I paid $75 before tip, which is what I pay in SF for what I consider a much better experience all around.
