They surpassed my expectations and made the most gorgeous arrangement of hydrangeas, sunflowers, and tulips. Updated Review: beautiful flower's, yet, still cool service. I realize that they seem to be always busy doing event arrangements. It's a hectic frenetic environment. When I stop in I always feel like I'm disturbing them. This isn't how you want to experience a flower shop. Not an excuse , but I don't think they like serving retail individuals. Why do they not fix this issue? I come frequently and never does the Owner greet me nor does he look up from his phone. In fact nobody helps you unless you basically whistle. I went to the store personally and handpicked each flower with a sales person for a nice orange/yellow autumn Thanksgiving flower bouquet. I paid $200 and we agreed that they add some berries and some magnolia leaves and deliver to my apartment. The salesperson had the chosen flowers in her arm and set she will put it aside till delivery. They delivered 8 hours later and it was all wrong. None of the flowers I had chosen, bought and PAID for was in the delivered bouquet. Instead there were dark red flowers and some old roses. I was really surprised and assumed this was a delivery error. When I called them, they were vague and the person on the phone told me they might have run out of 'my already paid for flowers' and these were substitutions. I told her that I reject this flower arrangement and that thy have to pick it up and reimburse me. Needless to say, that this did not happen. Do not shop there, and if you shop, make sure you take your chosen flowers with you. Otherwise you might be in for a bad surprise. read more

They put together an arrangement for delivery last weekend. I wanted something a little looser and less structured than the bouquets on the website. The florist understood me perfectly. Not only was the delivery prompt but the flowers were, in my friend's words, "beyond exquisite". And they were: exactly what I had in mind, but much more beautiful than I had even imagined. Based on other reviews I thought it was a decent and trustworthy place. Wrong. If you decide to order any bouquet from their website, mind that the pictures do not resemble what you will get. And then people on the phone will be very rude with you, have absolutely no culture of communication, no respect for you as a customer, and try very hard to prove that you are wrong. Then they might offer to deliver an extra 10 buds of flowers, and when you ask them not to do that because you don't want to disturb the person, they will say they will still do so - even though you might be now almost begging them not to. Then they will tell you they are very busy and will just hang up on you. They just don't listen. Keep telling you that they are right and you are wrong. Not a way to treat customers, in my opinion... I can't speak to the quality of the flowers which everyone else is complaining about, but I had a very positive experience here last winter which I felt obligated to share. It was the Saturday after Thanksgiving and I was looking for a Christmas tree. I walked by and started talking to the tree guy. He was a little off but not unfriendly. He kind of reminded me of Bill Murray's character in Caddyshack - not all there but he knew his shit. We settled on a beautiful 9 ft Fraser fir and made arrangements for it to be delivered later that afternoon. I was surprised when the same guy from the street showed up to my apartment with the tree. I was actually a little uncomfortable because I felt like he was sizing me up - figuring out how he'd fight me if he needed to - but again he did a great job. Tree looked great, very few needles to clean up, and no furniture scratched. I've been meaning to head back and check out the flowers, but haven't had the occasion yet. Definitely a good spot for Xmas trees though read more

It seems they are always doing events and both the owner and staff seem angry, harried and annoyed by walk- in customers seeking to purchase arrangements or ask questions. You'll be better off at the corner grocery store; Service is horrible, prices are extreme and the quality is NOT there. They delivered flowers to me (which were a thank gift from a relative who really stretched to send them to me). When my doorman told me I was not home (as in not home for several weeks) the delivery person was nasty and said that's what I have a doorman for. I retuned home to dead flowers (which were in my building manager's office). I asked them to pick them up - "that won't be necessary; we'll send another one out..." They never did; no credit to the sender. NOTHING but attitude when we called. I don't care how much $ their Carnegie Hill clientele has, there are much better options. read more

They had no problem doing 6 bridal bouquets in just 2 days notice. I came over and selected my flowers from their gorgeous selection. The bouquets were of excellent quality. I found the place extremely over priced and in the end, they tacked on even more charges than originally quoted. I didn't like them when they were on Madison Ave and I like them even less when they moved to Lexington. The employees have no regard for customer satisfaction, customer servicing or resolving issues. They sell plants that seem to "choke" in their soil and die within three weeks. Although they look good in the store, I'd steer clear of this florist. Try another, or like the review before me said, buy at the corner grocery store! read more

Walked into Flowers by Philip today after I saw all of the beautiful arrangements in the window. I was really surprised by the high quality of flowers they carry and the variety of arrangements. The staff I encountered while I navigated my way through the shop was super friendly and helpful - especially Juanita (super knowledgeable). I noticed the owner in the back playing with his 2 dogs. I think first impressions are lasting, and for me, I found him to be an old school New Yorker - a no nonsense kinda guy (which I appreciate since my parents are from NYC). In all honestly, I don't need people to fawn all over me when I go into a store. I'd rather be left a lone to wander a bit, then I ask questions and see how I am treated. This staff is pretty darn cool and motivated - there were like 10 people running their tails off making gorgeous arrangements. This florist sells dead flowers mixed in with some alive ones. They are poorly arranged. Their style is to bunch them all up, tape them together and add a lot of wrapping paper around them. They did make an effort to change the dead and dull flowers they originally provided will live ones after i complained but they just don't have the skills to arrange them. The other reviewers are correct --- for what you get here, walk a few blocks and you get it for half the price and without lip and attitude. Their flowers don't last and significantly overpriced.
