This review is for the Float Pod. I loved it! I wish I could afford to do it more often, but it's worth every penny! Also, the lady working today was very nice and very professional!
The floating experience takes a little getting used to, just learning to relax, adjusting the head pillow, and learning to "let go" took me a little while, but next time I'm sure all of that will be easier. Its only natural to try to balance yourself or reach out to touch something to sort of get your bearings. It takes a few minutes to get used to being "suspended" in virtual weightlessness. Once I got used to the sensation and could totally relax, it was not an issue.
It's so relaxing and calming, and I feel great.
I really thought that lying still would be really hard to do for 90 minutes. I'm the type that can't sit still very much, my motor is always running, so to speak. But there were only a few times where I would let my thoughts drift to anxieties and I would feel a little guilty about being there. When I started thinking about work or my phone or any other distractions...I would just "guide myself" back to relaxing and those thoughts would go away. I would think about breathing deep slow breaths. More times than not I would completely forget where I was, and my mind would be off in a happy relaxed world of my own. When the lights came on and the session was over I couldn't believe it had been that long and I was really disappointed that it was over. I could have stayed twice that long!
The whole experience was outstanding and I will be back!
You can float with or without music, I suggest you do it with music. It's new age/meditative music and it quickly slides into the background. Although the pod is somewhat sound proof, without the music I think you could hear some noises (phone ringing, other customers doing the cryotherapy, etc. ). I feel like that would distract you from the almost zen-like experience.
I also chose to turn off the lights. There is a light in the water and you can even have a colour changing light if you choose. I tried it with the lights for a bit, but the total darkness was better for me. Having no frame of reference, nothing to tell my mind where I was in relation to the sides, added to the feeling of weightlessness and suspension. At times I really felt like I was in the middle of outer space or something. It was awesome! You may feel differently, especially if you are claustrophobic (you can even leave the lid open if it scares you). read more
