I was cruising around Brisbane in my Lamborghini Countach when it unexpectedly broke down. Whilst I…read morewas waiting for RACQ, I spotted this cute cider house called Verve. I decided a spot of cider was in order and wandered on in, oblivious, of course, to the fact that there was a huge chocolate stain on my blouse. My little demon of a granddaughter spilled her chocolate ice cream all over my Countach, and some of it got onto my pants. An embarrassing situation was averted as the staff at Verve were very welcoming and understanding, although there was a little confusion at first when they assumed it was a poo stain. But after some quick clarification and a taste test on my part the confusion was quickly cleared up. Thanks to all the staff at Verve for being so understanding, and for serving the best damn cider this side of Cidertown!

So had finished biking around the city on probably one of the hottest days possible (or what felt…read morelike it at least) and had done a solid 4 or 5 miles of bike riding. Before popping into the hotel I was hoping to get my carb overload done right and re-energize from the depleted energy tanks. After a quick search, I found this place and walked over to it and loved it more when I realized it had a low key atmosphere starting from the walk down into the main dining hall. This place is simple, fast, and straightforward with its menu offerings as they offers pastas, pizzas, etc along with a selection of beers/ciders while offering a hipster vibe After perusing, ordered the linguine with meatballs and the parpadelle with ragu. Ordered a few beers as well which were tasty. This place does get busy during lunch time with what seems to be office workers in the CBD and it brought the atmosphere to be lively. The pastas were out in a flash and they do not skimp on portions or protein here. I feel most places in the states only offers 3 meatballs but they went all out and doubled it and the parpadelle was no joke as well. The food here was solid and while the tomato base was a bit strong, the food itself was delish. The pasta was cooked well and basically both plates were completely gone by the end of the meal. This spot is solid and offers exactly what you are looking for in a low key atmosphere just serving up good quick eats.

Such a lovely courtyard dinning experience. My friend had dined here before, and recommended we eat…read morehere. He made us a reservation for 2 at 6:30 on a Tuesday. When we arrived, the atmosphere was very warm and inviting. We were greeted promptly at the hostess stand, and seated at a cozy table for 2. We had a nice view of everything. I could see the bartender creating fun and creative cocktails. I enjoyed watching all the great creations passing by us coming from the kitchen. I already know many of the dishes I would like to try next time. The scallops and the squash blossoms. Such a fun vibe here, everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves while they were dining here. Don't forget to checkin on Yelp. They offer a free tiramisu- which was delicious. We started with cocktails, we each ordered the Sicilian Mojito, we both found it to be very refreshing and delicious. We shared the rust salad, cool and refreshing. My friend had the boacaiola pasta, he declared it delicious. He inhaled it. All talking stopped, and I aware he didn't put his fork down, just shoveled pasta into his mouth. Definitely says he will order this again. I enjoyed the vegetariana pizza. So yummy. I only ate a third of it- knowing we still had dessert coming. Plus, I really enjoy eating pizza the next day, and look forward to my leftovers. We both agreed we enjoyed everything we ordered- and will definitely be back. Our server was very friendly, checking in with us thru out our dining experience.

We started with the bruschetta that came out so quick. It tasted fresh. Our main pasta dishes took about 50 min to come out from the time we ordered. The waiter didn't say anything to us and actually seemed to be avoiding our table. The food was good, but definitely not worth waiting that long for. I would give the restaurant another shot because it didn't seem like the wait was normal (other tables were receiving their food quickly) so really not sure what happened.

Officially opening today, is Marchetti cafe. An Italian cafe and soon to be wine/bar. Inspired by…read morethe fun cafes of Milan and Roma that offer "standing coffee", Marchetti is the "baby" of owner Michael. Michael has been in the Tattersall's Arcade for many years as the in-house optometrist at Optiko. A passion for food, coffee and wine, led him to this path. Finally seizing the opportunity when space opened up. Marchetti is in its "first phase" with Allpress coffee, panini, biscotti, croissants as well as sfogliatelle on offer for the first month. Eventually, they will expand their focus on lunch-time trade, and a changing wine list. With the final stage being dinners, pizzas, pastas and meatballs. Good news for the gluten-free generation, is that Marchetti will cater for your sensitivities once this final stage is well under way. We decide to order a little bit of everything. Could not go past the sfogliatella ("sfo-leya-ttela"), a beautiful pastry imported all the way from Napoli. It was crumbly, and the ricotta tasted more like soft creamy sweet dessert due to a hint of Sicilian orange and perhaps cinnamon in the pastry. The croissants are imported from Lyon, but we went with the mini versions. A little bit of butter, and then inhaled in one fell swoop! Yum. The biscotti was perfect. The panini with salami, roasted eggplant, and provolone was fresh, and delicious. To top it off, the Allpress coffee was amazing. One of the best coffees I have ever had, if not the best. Allpress is imported from New Zealand and the beans are roasted using the "air-roasting" method, resulting in cleaner, sweeter tasting coffee. Marchetti is a graceful and stylish cafe with a classic ambience, drawing on inspiration from well-established cafes of Italy and France. One can't help but feel like you've just travelled to these far-away places.

Coffee is excellent. Service is prompt and reasonably quick given the small space that is the shop. Furniture matches the Tattersalls theme - yet comfortable. And the food is magnificent - the menu is clever although limited and for a meal but does not disappoint. There are cheaper places to eat but I have not been unhappy to pay for what I ordered. The range of desert and treats just makes your mouth water - definitely for the sweet tooth. Great!
