I love Italian food and was craving it, but every member of the small (but fabulous) party of four was feeling the penny pinch so we decided to try and find somewhere BYO. My gawd. I was so impressed. From the service to the atmosphere to the food, it was exactly what I wanted. I had a pizza, J had a gorgonzola gnocchi, and L and C shared a meat ravioli, plus we had a garlic bread and salad for the table. There are barely words to describe the happy place I got to. The pizza was the stand out for me, followed closely by the gnocchi (although I'm not much of a fan of blue cheese so it may have been a little lacking in that space for stanky cheese lovers). J, the ultimate eater then went in for dessert and he was very impressed with his apple crumble. My second visit was the following Friday with a girlfriend who was over from Sydney. We shared a pizza and a salad and, again, everything was perfect. We walked in at about 6.30 and took the last free table so I would always recommend booking. The following night (yes, I am creature of habit and a huge, huge pizza fan), I went back with my friend from Sydney and another girlfriend when we were unable to get into a nearby restaurant. I tried to order something other than pizza and failed but we all loved everything we had. S had pasta and A had bruschetta and we had an Italian salad to share. We were all feeling tired and a good meal in a buzzing restaurant was exactly what we needed to give us the energy to head out for the evening. Arriva is the perfect neighbourhood restaurant. The place was a hive of activity and it really added to the atmosphere. I think if a restaurant in particular is packed with happy and satisfied looking people, they're probably doing something right. Oh, but that's without mentioning all the framed awards that litter their walls, so maybe that also helps? If you're a fan of anything Italian, then Arriva is probably going to be a good stop for you. Pizza, pasta, gnocchi, risotto, they've got it all figured out. I went here for a work dinner and we pre-ordered and received our meals with no drama. Arriva is an ideal group setting if you want a lively atmosphere and a quality feed. Girls take note; there is also a very sweet young waiter with a genuine Italian accent that he lavishes over the table when he brings your meals. It's safe to say Milano will suck you in because it has a range of menu choices for every taste. Considering I'm a fussy eater, I think it's safe to say Milano has got menu choices down pat. Asking for one of their hot breakfasts with crispy bacon never disappoints, and I have to say their chicken sandwiches are so fresh and succulent and melt in your mouth. And their chips...wow. Shoestring fried goodness cooked to perfection! Milano is a safe choice in winter or in summer to get away from cold winds or stifling summer heat, and it provides a safe haven when I'm in the city and starving.

I decided a spot of cider was in order and wandered on in, oblivious, of course, to the fact that there was a huge chocolate stain on my blouse. My little demon of a granddaughter spilled her chocolate ice cream all over my Countach, and some of it got onto my pants. An embarrassing situation was averted as the staff at Verve were very welcoming and understanding, although there was a little confusion at first when they assumed it was a poo stain. But after some quick clarification and a taste test on my part the confusion was quickly cleared up. I feel most places in the states only offers 3 meatballs but they went all out and doubled it and the parpadelle was no joke as well.
