I'm huge Jamie Oliver fan and have been to Jamie's Italian in Toronto and so was keen to try the one here. We went on a Friday night, grabbing a drink at the bar before being seated. The service was average, it took some time to get anyone's attention so we could order drinks or the bill or anything. The food was disappointing. We ordered fritto misto to start, it was listed as being fried fish and squid but we received only fish and not a single piece of squid on the plate. For mains we had the octopus ravioli and crab spaghetti. The ravioli was pretty good, I would go there again for that dish. The crab spaghetti was incredibly bland, so much so that I didn't even finish it. Overall, not impressed but I would definitely go back again for a second chance and be happy to be proven wrong.

Just tried out Jamie's Italian and would certainly give this new city restaurant a go. I think Goole maps puts this new eatery in the wrong location so just make sure you head to the Apple Store and walk up on the other side to Louis Vuitton and Burberry and just after TM Lewin you'll find Jamie's Italian discretely nesting. Apparently the largest Jamie's Italian in Australia and is serious big covering two floors (entry level floor and basement). Very cool decor that mixed the unfinished industrial look with soft lighting, intimate booths mixed with traditional tables, impressive chandeliers and open bar/kitchen areas enabling you to see the team preparing your order. Many new restaurants I have eaten at have suffered from "temporary" staff rather than employing service experts. I don't know where they have found the plentiful service team but where ever they have come from they have recruited and trained the right type to people. Real service with a smile and energy. For the little ones you will find packs of crayons and colouring in sheets to keep them amused when they are not eating and I can see the team have already started showing off budding artists' masterpieces on the wall as you walk in. The restaurant has a very loud vibe so be prepared to have to really make yourself heard to others but is very relaxed and enjoyable place to dine and a great place to visit as a group. Food was up to the usual Jamie Oliver standard. Flavoursome and simple. It does lack Bridge/river views but think the interior, focus on service and food packed with flavour certainly does not mean the lack of windows should concern anyone. I am not sure where Jamie Oliver gets his olives, I assume they are shipped from Italy but may be local but even if you are not an olive fan, Jamie's Olives on ice may convert you. Starters are great to share as a group and could almost (if you order enough) be an alternative to a main meal. Pasta dishes can be ordered in small plates or large depending on your appetite. Oh and make sure you leave some room for dessert..............massive sweet treats await if you can find room after all your starters and main courses! There are three local beers on tap and your server will let you know what the ales of the day are. Tonight there was a summer ale from the Gold Coast, a dark ale from The Green Beacon just down the road in Teneriffe and now my mind completely fails to help me remember the last one! Well I will leave my review there as I have perfectly build my excuse to go back and be able to tell you what the third ale was! Bon Appetite everyone!

It's safe to say that Jamie's Italian - Brisbane, open for just under a month, will be around for the long haul. We have been here two times since it's opening, the first to try dessert, & the second time, to try the pasta & more dessert! Located at 237 Edward St, in heritage listed Rowes Arcade, Jamie's is spread across two levels. It is said to be the largest in Australia out of the existing franchises, able to accommodate up to 240 guests. It's a very welcoming venue as you step in, you'll notice "Jamie's bar" to one side & further inside, the stunning chandelier, near the antipasto bar complete with bar stools & wheels of parmesan & prosciutto hanging along. Downstairs is the basement level & features exposed stone walls, a second bar, & an open kitchen. Regardless where you end up, both areas create a feeling of comfort & intimacy that feels familiar. Jamie's is perfect for any occasion really, & on both occasions, we were impressed with the outstanding service. Top marks for Sarah (our first visit) & Lesley (the second time). Reservations are a must, as there was a 40 minute wait for those who were "walk ins". To start we ordered the famous Polenta chips ($8.50) & the crispy squid ($12.50). The polenta chips were outstanding. No wonder it's famous! The crispy squid, whilst flavoursome, was not our favourite dish. Perhaps for $12.50 we expected more than just 6 small pieces. This may have just been an anomaly & we mentioned it to our waitress. For pastas there's a choice between small or large size & we went with the former. Great though, because it was just right for us, pasta is quite filling & we wanted room for dessert. For our pasta dishes, we couldnt go past: 1) "Jool's favourite Tuna fusili" ($13.50) & the 2) Sausage Papardelle ($12.50). Both were perfect! You always know when a meal is amazing when silence befalls one's table. Savouring each mouthful & scraping the plate by the end of it. The pastas went down well with glasses of the Canella Prosecco. For dessert, our belly was calling out the Pavlova ($10). Such a beautiful looking dessert & even lovelier to taste. Overall, Jamie's is an exciting addition to Brisbane's dining scene & there's enough choice on the menu to satisfy everyone's cravings.

Potato & truffle tortellini ($25). I suggest getting sides, you'll still be hungry.

Just been to Jamie's. It's now my fourth time here and I'm still torn about it. - Our waiter said all the right things and clearly had enough knowledge of what was on offer. But he had a somewhat cocky and cold, calculative persona about him that didn't really make us feel like we were valued patrons. A little smile can go a long way, FYI. - I have an issue with pricing. A burger ON IT'S OWN is about $22. Ten tortellinis for $25. A teeny, almost-like-a-shot-glass, "bowl" of fries for $8. The prices are OK if the portions and taste justify them. Here, the flavours are just "nice" and the portions are pretty small. - The tortellini I had was served on a shallow long plate which confused the heck out of me. Seriously, the plate would typically be used to serve a whole fish. Whatever happened to a good ol' rustic bowl? - My friend ordered the burger and the patty was burnt black and bitter. It also had no flavour/no seasoning. Considering it costs about $22 on its own, this is just disappointing. We brought it to a staff's attention, they just said sorry, took it away and never came back. Few mins later, the manager comes around saying sorry and asking questions. He said the patty is Angus and they cook it at a certain high temperature. But this is a standard thin patty we're talking about, not a full on steak. He offered a complimentary "something else" and suggested "a little bowl of mushroom risotto." So my friend was given an entree size risotto but I'm still confused why they didn't just prepare another burger(??) Maybe my expectations were just a tad too high. I expected this restaurant to be full of Jamie Oliver and what he seems to be like as a chef on TV. Full of life, no frills, honest, good food, decent serving size and affordable. But this restaurant, for me, doesn't match that expectation. It could be much, much better.

Listen, as excited as I was about getting a 5:15pm dinner reservation here, it was just okay. In fact, a few people may dislike me for this comment, but I think Vapiano's was way better. Listen... while it is fun going to the effort of making an online reservation and getting that coveted confirmation... getting a buzzer and being told to wait at the bar for another 20 minutes when you arrive on time is a bit of a downer. Prices are good, but prices aside, my 5 dollar lemon with bitters mocktail was extremely sour and full of an ice, they may as well have called it a slurpee. It was more icier than a slurpy actually as you can see in my picture. I needed the downstairs bartender to add some sugar syrup in for me (love this man!) so I could actually drink my drink. The squid was good, the aranchini balls were ... okay (they weren't really that fresh tasting to tell you the truth) and the rainbow slaw was very mildly dressed in fact I could hardly taste the mint dressing. My bolognese was okay, the parpadelle was okay... the parmesan came after we'd 1/2 eaten our food... also borderline not really okay, especially when the waitress, as lovely as she was... put it on my friends' pasta when she specifically said no thank you when offered getting to a bit of not so okay. The dessert... oh Jamie, I was such a big fan! We ordered the brownie with ice cream and caramel popcorn. The popcorn was a tad stale and my what was really awesome looking brownie tasted like crumbly stale dry cake. Even the ice cream could not do it justice... it may have been super busy, I understand, it may have been... well... I don't know. I was full - yes, the staff were really friendly, but really slow at taking orders and taking payment we ended up walking upstairs only to be scolded by someone upstairs saying we should wait downstairs to pay... but okay he will take the payment as the waitress is probably really busy... hrm. Great but not great... i'm really not sure.

Long long time ago, in a far far away land, many miles from Sydney, on a cold winter night, I craved for some comfort foods like a double cheese burger. But I wasn't ready for trashy pub food tonight so I decided to head Jamie's Italian to curb my cravings for pub food at the comfort level of a posh restaurant. And to my delight, they have a bar counter. Restaurants nowadays should totally have such considerate set up for solo travellers/ dinners as we are flourishing. And for that, I am giving Jamie's a 5 thumbs up which I normally don't as I am pretty critical. And the burger turned out just what I needed to curb the cravings of pub food but balanced by simple authentic flavours of a good piece of meat, nothing too adulterated. Jamie never really tried too hard to impress, this burger is just it.

I finally had the opportunity to dine at Jamie's Italian last night. Granted, it took us a hot minute to score a reservation (we booked about a month ago), and the only open timeslot was 8:15, which is not my ideal eating hour for a Thursday. Having been to the Jamie's Italian in Perth, I was really looking forward to the food, and particularly, the fresh pastas. I was sufficiently pleased with my sausage papardelle, chunky and aromatic with fennel and rich tomato. I loved that the papardelle shape was a bit unconventional, in that the edges were ridged (like lasagne sheets) which really lent itself to "gripping" the sauce. Unsurprisingly, I had the pleasure of trying everyone's meal at the table. El Hub went with the special risotto, with chunks of prawns, green peas and garlic. The risotto had too much 'bite', but creamy and delicious nonetheless. Friend A had the ricotta ravioli: lemony, light, and fresh. And Friend B had the parcel of fish special, cooked with vegetables, mussels and clams. We finished everything off with the tiramisu, which was not too sweet, not too moist, very light, and pretty much the way I like it. It should also be noted, that the service was awesome (way to go Matt!). I perhaps wouldn't say it's the end-all-be-all of gourmet Italian dining in the Brisbane precinct, but it's definitely worth a try, preferably with a big group of friends and couple of bottles of wine.

After having 'Jamie's Italian' on my to do list for sometime, we finally made it in! It took around 6 weeks in advance to get a 5pm booking (the only time we could get, even booking that far in advance! Well, apart from significantly later). But was it worth this wait? Yes. Jamie's Italian staff are efficient, friendly and courteous. Particularly important when you have such a massive clientele through the doors! We sat upstairs, near the bar. A nice spot, particularly as we were dining with friends. We ordered the three set platters between us, and the bruschetta for entree. Very nice indeed! After our platters were cleared, we had a brief pause and our main fare arrived. I had the lamb tortellini, my husband had the fish of the day and our friends had the buffalo ravioli and the loin steak. It all looked amazing! However, the serving size was rather small. We did order the main size pasta dishes, but they were gone in a flash. Perhaps just a tad more would have been perfect. Having said that, though, it was delicious, and very tasty! Perhaps that is why we wanted more! I think there was method in the small main fare sizes, as we had appropriate room left for dessert. I had the brownie, my husband had the lemon meringue pie, and our friends had the pavlova and ice cream. We were all very impressed, and it went down very well. At this point we felt we had had just the right amount of food for the night. Overall, we were impressed. The restaurant has great decor, and it is rather huge! A bit like the TARDIS, as there is another large floor of tables downstairs next to the kitchen. My advice is to make sure you book well in advance. That is the only drawback with Jamie's Italian. Clear your calendar, and mark it in the minute you get the date! Friday and Saturday nights are obviously the most popular. Hopefully when the hype dies down, it will be easier to get a table at shorter notice (ie: like a fortnight).

Firstly the fit out is amazing, a grand chandelier in the main room with authentic dried ham hanging from the bar, this is just the upstairs. Downstairs has an open kitchen which filled the room with an incredible aroma of what to expect from the menu, which didn't disappoint! We started with pâté on bruschetta and olives which were tasty but perhaps too much chilli in the pâté and especially given its not mention on the menu none the less it was still delicious. We moved on to the lobster linguini which was decadent, the linguini had a hint of chilli and the hand made pasta was to die for, with the lobster cooked to perfection. We also ordered the squid ink pasta which was beautiful, which had an intense essence of the sea and the squid ink pasta giving a nice savoury note. The waiters were friendly and knowledgeable about the extensive wine and food menu! All in all an awesome night!

Lunch deal is absolutely amazing and good value for money. Standardised and beautifully controlled food & design.

Well managed and dedicated designed. A great spot for a not-going-to-go-wrong meet up place for causal work dinning and/or friends meet up.

We booked in to Jamie's for our anniversary and I had high hopes for the meal, but we were left underwhelmed by the small serving sizes for the prices. Italian food is all about the love of sharing delicious comfort food but the serves were less than half of what I would expect (and have received) at comparable top end restaurants. The Crab and Avocado Bruschetta was piled high and quite nice with a bit of crunchy fennel and chilli. But one slice for $13.75 is pretty sad, and the added bit of crab shell in my half did nothing to improve my enjoyment of it. When my Osso Bucco style Lamb Shoulder was served it smelled delicious and the addition of the bone on the plate made the serve look more substantial than it was. But my heart sank when I took the bone away and was left with what seemed like less than 100g of lamb. For $29.50 we were left feeling ripped off. The Prime Strip Loin Steak was well cooked and the Seasonal Market Vegetables we ordered as a side were still nice and firm which was great. We were expecting the Funky Chips to be nice and chunky and super crunchy after being triple cooked, but they were disappointingly small and thin and not very crispy. We ordered the dessert special, a White Chocolate Semifreddo with Raspberry Coulis, and the Chocolate and Hazelnut Arctic Roll. The semifreddo arrived with a lovely Happy Anniversary message in chocolate on the plate which was a really nice touch and both desserts were quite good. Not too sweet and pretty standard sized serves. All of the staff we dealt with were friendly and attentive and it was a good night, I just wouldn't rush back when there are so many better options around.

Fried three-cheese gnocchi with arrabbiata sauce

Having visited Jamie's Italian in other cities, expectations were already established and the newly Brisbane delivered and exceeded. Built over two levels, ground level entry and seating and a basement with the main kitchen and more seating, it is regarded as the largest in Australia. Centred in the middle of the ground level seating is a deli-style kitchen serving the cold dishes and cured meats. It is adorned with decorative, but real, meats and various other ingredients that are no doubt incorporated into the dishes and add to the overall homely feel of the restaurant. Even though it is technically a chain restaurant, Jamie's Italian offers a unique insight into the creative mind of renowned celebrity chef Jamie Oliver. Although it might seem like a staple pan-Italian menu, each dish has its own subtle flair. On this occasion I had the fried three cheese gnocchi, the lamb and ricotta tortellini and finished off with the orange and almond frangipane tart - three dishes I had not had before. Starting with the gnocchi, the alternative presentation style was immediately noticeable. Each gnocchi was individually perched on a bed of arrabbiata sauce and arranged along the length of a wooden paddle board. The element of frying added a nice yet subtle crunch to the texture and the sauce was quite flavoursome. The lamb and ricotta tortellini was similarly presented, in a line along a stretched elliptical plate. Equally flavoursome, however the overall portion size left a bit to be desired for. The pasta dishes each come in a entrée or main size, the main was still a little on the small side and I'm glad I opted for three courses. Dessert of the orange and almond frangipane tart was easily the highlight of the evening. Topped with what appeared to be the typical vanilla ice cream was instead creme fraiche ice cream and complimented the orange flavours of the tart. The tart itself was well textured with the top layer of almond flakes adding a nice finishing crunch. No Italian dinner would be complete without wine, the wine list filled with a selection of Italian grape varietals mostly from Italy but a few domestic. Jamie's Italian Brisbane sets a new benchmark for Jamie Oliver's venture into the mainstream restaurant scene and is sure to live up to the success of his other Australian restaurants.

An embarrassing situation was averted as the staff at Verve were very welcoming and understanding, although there was a little confusion at first when they assumed it was a poo stain. Before popping into the hotel I was hoping to get my carb overload done right and re-energize from the depleted energy tanks. After a quick search, I found this place and walked over to it and loved it more when I realized it had a low key atmosphere starting from the walk down into the main dining hall. This place is simple, fast, and straightforward with its menu offerings as they offers pastas, pizzas, etc along with a selection of beers/ciders while offering a hipster vibe After perusing, ordered the linguine with meatballs and the parpadelle with ragu. Ordered a few beers as well which were tasty. This place does get busy during lunch time with what seems to be office workers in the CBD and it brought the atmosphere to be lively. The pastas were out in a flash and they do not skimp on portions or protein here. I feel most places in the states only offers 3 meatballs but they went all out and doubled it and the parpadelle was no joke as well. The food here was solid and while the tomato base was a bit strong, the food itself was delish. The pasta was cooked well and basically both plates were completely gone by the end of the meal. This spot is solid and offers exactly what you are looking for in a low key atmosphere just serving up good quick eats.

These days call for random eat-out weeknights, and since Jo was craving Italian, we decided on Pane e Vino. I've been here before and found it quite mediocre for what it's worth, but for the sake of time, we decided on this conveniently located restaurant. The ambience is quite casual, especially for a semi-pricy Italian restaurant. Might be because it's also a cafe-type restaurant? It didn't bother me, especially since they had celebrity designed plates on their wall - which honestly is a bit random. No complaints though, cause they have a plate designed by Billy Martin of Good Charlotte (as well as Geoffrey Rush and Cate Blanchett). =P I don't quite remember what I ordered last time, but this time around I got the Gnocchi Alla Boscaiola (23), which was a gnocchi with bacon, mushrooms, and shallots in a creamy tomato sauce. I wasn't too impressed with the sauce at first, but the more I had it, the more I actually liked it. They were generous about the bacon and mushrooms, which made up for the mediocre gnocchi...Not there was nothing wrong with the gnocchi, but it was a bit flour-y and not as chewy as I liked. I also had a taste of the Papparadelle Pesto e Pollo (25.5), which was a chicken pesto in a spinach cream sauce. It was decent, but I was satisfied with my choice. Though the pasta was just average for the price, the service was a 5/5 that night - attentive and friendly, just the way it should be! I would say (at least that night) it was one of the better places I've had in Brisbane, service-wise.

Well this place is just great. I can never resist the beckoning call of Italian food, and Pane e…read moreVino delivers it in spades. I like it best on a Friday night when the crowd has started to ebb and you can enjoy a piping hot pasta with friends. They offer a really great menu of Italian options. Other Italian restaurants I've been to in the past bely the name because they only serve generic pizza and pasta, but Pane e Vino is different. You've got your insalata, risotto, pasta, pollo, pesce, panini, and focaccia, and they've even thrown in some schnitzel for something totally different. So maybe it's not wholly Italian, but their choices are so fantastic and that's saying something coming from me, who can sometimes be precious about my meal choices depending on my mood. Finishing off your night with a coffee here is the best way to enjoy it. Meals are served quickly and are really delicious, and the coffee is strong and smooth; just how Italian coffee should be. There's also a really dynamic (and at times eccentric) team here to make your dining experience that much more memorable. It is perfectly located to stay within the city without being right in the heart of the mall. Tick/seal/everything of approval for Pane e Vino.
