My husband and I came in to discuss a recent can of paint we bought for our cabinets in the color Agreeable Gray that did not exactly match our new cabinet doors and drawers we ordered and are having installed. We had to have our cabinet frames sprayed the exact color of the doors/ drawers. Jose took the time to color code the paint match to the new drawer face exactly (it is slightly lighter than the Agreeable Gray on the card). He listened and was extremely patient in making us happy before we left. He assured us he would color correct again if we had any issues when we got home. We felt very seen and heard which is uncommon in most customer service dealings these days! !! We were extremely satisfied and if we ever have to buy paint again, he will be the only person we will deal with in the future.

Today, I visited the store to return two unopened items I had received as a housewarming gift. As I…read moreapproached the checkout line, the cashier--an assistant manager (older woman, name unknown)--was immediately dismissive, saying only "Come on" instead of greeting me politely. I explained that the items were purchased online for in-store pickup, and I had both the order number and the emailed receipt from my friend. She stated that online purchases could not be returned in-store, which is incorrect. According to Ace Hardware's own return policy: "We recommend that you make returns of online purchases to an Ace retail store near you that can issue you a refund (less applicable shipping, handling, and other charges)." Her tone and demeanor were unprofessional and gave the impression that she did not want to assist customers. I later returned to the store and spoke with Jesse, who was polite, knowledgeable, and promptly processed the return without issue. The assistant manager should be familiar with the company's return policy and provide courteous service to customers.
