AN UNETHICAL OWNER THAT STILL OWES A $100 REFUND DUE TO POOR SERVICE/COMMUNICATION I recently bought a bouquet and Michael's worker called me letting me know they moved out to Dripping Springs rather than their old location. I was completely okay that it was too far and requested them to cancel the flowers and asked for a refund. He told me I'd get refunded. Later, I was called by the OWNER, Michael, and even though I had already wanted a refund, he told me he'd kindly drive the flowers to the old location (which was very nice) but at the time, I had already ordered last minute flowers somewhere else so it caused confusion since he never told me which flower shop he was from. I assumed he was from the new shop I ordered from but he never made it clear that it was from Floral Renaissance. When I had realized it was Michael and not the new flower shop, I let him know and in exchange, he was rude and hung up on me twice in a row when I told him about the refund. Now a week later, he hasn't answered any emails or voicemails about my $100 refund that was due to poor communication on their part. If this isn't resolved soon, I WILL be getting help from a third party to obtain communication and the refund. UPDATE: Michael and his employees never answered calls/texts/emails in regards to $100 they owed me. Resolved this with my bank to get my money back. read more

I would definitely NOT recommend Floral Renaissance. I ordered a $100+ bouquet of flowers for my wife to be delivered on Valentine's Day, which was confirmed by email. But the order was never delivered. Neither my wife or I were contacted about it on Valentine's Day. It was very disappointing to miss the day and not know what happened. When I called them on Feb 15th, they said, "Oh yeah, we have your order. It was one of the ones we didn't deliver yesterday. It didn't fit on the truck..." They didn't express any sympathy about missing the delivery, instead going into detail about their own logistical challenges, poor planning, and restrictive customer communication policies that prevented them from giving us a call about it. It was a very frustrating response. There was no accountability. Eventually they offered two options to "resolve" this: 1) deliver the same flowers a day late at full price or 2) cancel the order completely. When pressed, they eventually agreed to throw in a very small box of chocolates with the late delivery, which was "the most they can do." Any business is going to occasionally make mistakes. When Floral Renaissance did, they failed in the recovery. They showed no proactive communication, empathy, or accountability. As a result, I would not recommend Floral Renaissance. read more

Ordered flowers from here and asked for early morning delivery. I called at 2:00 in the afternoon to make sure it had been done. Was told they were still on the truck to be delivered. I asked what type of flowers or colors were used in the arrangement...he had no idea and couldn't find the order. No photo was taken and sent to me as I had seen done in other reviews either. Outstanding customer service! Terrific and one-of-a-kind floral designs! VERY happy! I'm in Los Angeles. I'd forgotten a friend's birthday! I chose Floral Renaissance with my fingers crossed in a "cold-call;" solely because of its proximity to where the flowers needed to be delivered. It was after 7PM here in Los Angeles; after 9PM in Austin. I knew my chances were slim-to-none that a florist would take a request AND deliver the next day... I was surprised when Michael Akila, proprietor, returned my call within 15 minutes! "Yes," he'd welcome helping me and assured how the delivery would happen by 11AM the next morning. He was familiar with the community and was confident. He listened to my desire for a fun design for a wonderful lady with an assigned price tag. My friend called me the next day -- absolutely delighted by the cheery design that arrived that morning. So...Floral Renaissance will always get my Austin business. I was thrilled how my "cold call" from 1400 miles away hit the jackpot. We hired Floral Renaissance to do the flowers at our rehearsal dinner and wedding. Mike Akila, owner, is awesome! He is prompt, professional, courteous and very creative. His flowers are high quality and artfully arranged for any type of function. Mike did some cute buckets of sunflowers, roses and other Spring flowers for our rehearsal dinner that perfectly fit our BBQ theme. For the day of the wedding, Mike showed up early to decorate an iron arbor over a bridge with fabric and floral arrangements and created a floral chandelier over our registration book, both of which were gorgeous. He provided tall galvanized buckets for the floral arrangements lining the aisle at our ceremony and designed some beautiful floral arrangements for the altar. Mike had 3 different types and styles of table arrangements for our reception, which provided a nice variety amongst the tables. Finally, Mike created my wedding bouquet and bridesmaid/flower girl bouquets and all the corsages and boutonnieres. All of them were beautiful and slightly different. He also provided the flowers for my cake and the flower petals for our exit. It was wonderful to not have to worry about any detail on the day of the wedding. Mike is a very experienced florist and can work with any budget or idea. He provided some creative ideas for cost savings, too. I was thoroughly disappointed with Floral Renaissance's work for my wedding. Many things went wrong (and post-wedding they have been unwilling to discuss the errors or refund any of the ~$3500 we paid for their services): 1) The bouquet/boutineers were no where to be found at the start of the ceremony, so the ceremony had to go on without them. 2) The centerpieces did not match what we had discussed and contracted. They looked horrible and looked like fake flowers instead of the design we had discussed. 3) 2 wrist corsages were missing in the delivery. 4) The professionalism of the staff is poor -- they have not returned any of my phone calls regarding these matters. I filed an issue with the BBB but Floral ren has not responded to it. During my father's speech, the floral owner in jeans and a tshirt kept walking behind my father, which looks ridiculous to our guests in such a formal event and was distracting. I recommend any other Austin florist over floral renaissance, so that you have one less thing to stress about. This was the only vendor we had any issues with and they have not been willing to discuss any of the issues that we had which shows very poor service. read more
