I must say that the lady who greeted me was so sweet and kind. She gave an overview of the shop and the various events it offers. She was doing something with a plant that was so interesting, I kept sneaking little glances. I didn't want to ask her what because I didn't want her to know I was clueless about the world of beautiful plants. But I was in the area with a client, and the store caught my attention. It says "plants" and "parties" on the outside. I stopped in, saw all the greenery, and thought, "This is the perfect place to host a plant party." I have two young ladies in the family who are building their own plant garden, including veggies, and I'd like to surprise them with a plant party. I walked around admiring the plants; they stood so tall, healthy, and gorgeous in their containers. I actually wanted to purchase one, but didn't know the protocol, like whether it would stay inside the container or if I had to take it without the container. I literally have a "black thumb" as opposed to a "green thumb". Black thumb equals plants under your care will likely not survive and green thumbs means you grow plants while allowing them to thrive. The only plants I have successfully grown are ivies. In route to a bookstore, I noticed the succulent store and decided to pop in. Succulent Native is a plant boutique in Austin, Texas, specializing in succulents, cacti, and creative plant arrangements. Quite honestly, I never knew that there were so many permutations of succulents. I actually believe I might be able to keep a succulent alive since they require little maintenance. I learned from the store manager that they host succulent parties. That would be a cool way to spend time with family and friends. In addition, while they have some beautiful plants, some can be a bit pricey. With that said, there is a section of the store that has some reasonably priced smaller plants. I haven't had the opportunity to stop by the actual store yet, but I have had the pleasure of attending a succulent planting party hosted by Succulent Native. This was a great experience and who knew I would have so much fun learning about succulents! They offered different neutral colored pots and had 3 different succulent variations for us to choose from. Brought in my own white planter and one of my own succulents and had a $50 budget for them to plant. I also gave them a 15% tip so I spent $70 on this. I got this and know very well how to take care of succulents by not overwatering them. In a month it looked like this with 2 of the 3 plants dying. My own plant is thriving still. I asked if they can repot the dead or dying plants but stated that don't offer replacement, refund or repotting, but that they could give tips on how to take care of it in the future. I bought four small plants here, at different times, and two died after gradually turning black and mushy even after I reduced water. None of my other plants have done this in the same light and water situation. One was a rubber tree, which I have successfully grown before. One was potted in the store, (pictured) and I watered according to their instructions, and it's dying. The fourth is doing well, fortunately. I'm fully aware many factors are at play here, but since two of them probably had fungus, and another one is going to die, I wonder if it's not me. I am soooooooo thrilled I got a chance to come here last week. My boss drives by this place every day for work and decided to stop in a few months ago. She loves it so much, she decided to take us during lunch. They had so many beautiful succulents to choose from, ranging in varies sizes and colors from all over. I like this place, I really do! I have spent at least $500 here in the last year. But all of that to say, my succulents from here are exceptionally expensive, and they die no matter what. I've followed directions to a tee, yet every time somehow within 2-3 months the plants are wilting and dead. I've tried all kinds of greenery.. still the same outcome, and a few had fungus when I brought them home. While I love the service and the set up of this shop, I only come here on special occasions now. I've found I can literally purchase succulents from anywhere and put them in the planters I've gotten from here, and still have the same vibe. read more

They have lots of small and medium size home plants and some awesome fiddle leaf fig trees. A perfect spot to pick up a quick gift or something to treat yourself. This place is plant heaven and super cute inside. I went pre pandemic shut down so probably about a month ago to pick up some plant babies. The staff was super helpful and let you ask whatever questions you have, all the displays are super cute and accessible. They have some rare house plants that aren't sold at the normal gardening store and super cute planters! Considering everything has been shut down due to covid-19 I've still been shopping here but via online! These little plants have been wonderful gifts to brighten up my friend and boyfriends day. I have found cute little gifts here for friends but I have to say that the pricing is outrageous. I understand that rent in that area must be sky high but I would strongly recommend going to a nursery. I ripped off a $12 sticker on one of my mother's tongues and it said "$2.99" on it and it was from a nursery. The staff is super hip and cool and they really know their stuff. read more

Right when we entered the store we were greeted immediately by friendly workers who told us about their special they had going at the moment. We came when they had a pet adoption event where they had a Pot Your Own Succulent with you choice of succulent, pot and even some top dressing for only $24. We were guided on how to depot the succulent and make our own unique masterpiece! They had a nice selection of plants, pots (ceramic and terrariums) and small gifts/accessories. Unlike other succulent places I've been to this one was indoors which was a nice atmosphere from the outdoor nurseries I'm used to. The prices compared to other succulents were similar. I would say the variety/ amount of succulents they had were fewer but they do carry the most popular/ known succulents. Super cute plant shop that I recommend. Stopped by during my Austin visit. One young lady was very nice and fun, didn't get her name. RThe shop is small, so there isn't just a huge amount of plants, but enough to find something to brighten your home. Decent variety of small planters were available. I removed a star because one of the planters I purchased needed a drainage hole (they drill on-site, yay!!). But they punched through too much in not one, but two planters. I didn't want them to attempt a third, so I requested a refund on that specific planter. The murals on side of building are nice too. I'd definitely return if I'm back in the area again. read more

I went into the store today to get a few succulents for this planter I ordered online for my friend's birthday. She has breast cancer and I got her a fun little booby planter along to celebrate being a woman because she is having a double mastectomy next weekend. The woman who helped me (Lilly I believe) was so sweet and made the cutest arrangement for me and to top it off gifted me the plants bc they were for a good cause. Rarely do I come across places so WOW that I had to go home and write a review day of. Goodness this place is great. Today I came in looking specifically for one type of plant. I was greeted promptly. The whole place is the cutest little succulent shop I've seen so far inside Austin. They had everything in all price ranges as well. All the plants looked super healthy. All the staff was engaged with another customer so I went to looking. I asked an associate where string of hearts were. It turns out they didnt have it. Instead of trying to sell me some other stringy plants she pointed me in the right direction of another plant shop. This saved me so much time and money. I will definitely come back! read more

I don't want to be a negative review and want it to be more of a cautionary tale for new plant parents. First of all, I loved the fact I could order online and pickup at the store. I ordered the $50 snake plant and the whole process was seamless. After getting home and putting my snake plant in a cover pot I noticed the amount of leaves that were cut off at the tips, which I thought was odd cause what makes snake plants beautiful are their long, pointy tips. I also started to noticed some leaves, even the younger leaves, looked to have what I thought was sun burn. I didn't think much of it and since it was the smaller leaves I cut them off at the base. As the days went on I started to notice red dots and some parts of the leaves looking like they had a blister. It was wet and oozy. I then lost three leaves; one got soft and mushy and the others were folding over where the "sun burn" was. I've never seen anything like this so I went to Google and easily diagnosed it with a fungal infection. I don't think this is 100% the fault of the store. From what I understand, this type of infection is unfortunately common for snake plants. But since so many of the snake plant's leaves were cut when I got it, I'm assuming that this plant (and maybe others) had been infected for a while and was sitting on the store. For $50, I hoped I would have gotten a healthier plant. For now all I can do is apply rubbing alcohol to any new infected spots as early as I can and hope for the best. I've lost three more leaves and even three weeks after I've gotten my snake plant it is still appearing with new spots, so I'm prepared to be losing more leaves in the future, which sucks. I will still be a returning customer to Succulent Native. I want to support a local business and, like I said, I don't think this is 100% fault of the store. The previous times I've been here the staff is always friendly and helpful, so I'm going to say I got just very unlucky with my snake plant, but I hope he can recover. Hopefully my experience can help others to know what to look for before purchasing a new plant read more

They had a few plants, but the business seems to focus more on sales of pottery classes, artistic potting, etc. if your going to find rate or hard to find houseplants, this is t then place. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! I just got married so buying plants seemed like the next best thing to do after moving in w/my Husband. We came in on a Saturday afternoon, it wasn't too busy. We walked in and a girl w/pink hair came up to us right away and helped us w/everything we needed. We had no idea what we were looking for, we just knew we wanted indoor plants that were easy to keep alive. She told us about so many different plants and it was so helpful! They have the option to buy your plant with a pot or just buy the plant itself. If you do buy a pot, they can pot it for you! They only sell succulent soil so if you need house plant soil, you should go to home depot. I recommend this place if you are looking for any indoor plant!
