After the sales team came out to my house with sample carpet the day I called them, I had high hopes that my experience with Floors for Living would be a great one. Unfortunately, it was anything but great. Prior to purchasing carpet for our media room remodel, I told the team on 3 separate occasions I was more concerned with my timeline than the specific carpet and I only wanted to see carpet that could be installed on my required timeline. On all 3 occasions, I was assured my timeline was achievable with the carpet they were showing me. Following the third discussion and based on repeated assurances from them that they could hit my timeline, I went ahead and placed an order and paid in full up front. Approximately 3 hours after paying in full, the sales associate called letting me know that the manufacturer had told them our carpet would not arrive until late January, about 3 weeks after he promised it would be ready for install (apparently, despite me stressing the importance of timeline, no one took the time to call the manufacturer on the front end and they just assumed it would all work out). I discussed cancelling my order, but the sales associate went on to assure me that the date from the manufacturer was typically padded and "9 out of 10 times", it shows up multiple weeks early and we shouldn't have a problem and that "worst case", it would be installed before EOM January. I reluctantly agreed to not cancel my order based on those assurances. As the middle of the month came and went and it became clear the carpet would not come in weeks early, I asked the sales associate to start checking in with the manufacturer every couple of days and post me on any change in status so that I could schedule my other contractors accordingly. He assured me he would, but never once did without me chasing. Ultimately, the sales associate finally confirmed the carpet was scheduled to be received on Thursday, 2/2. Despite the approximate month delay on when he said it could be installed, he was unable to schedule it to be installed until the middle of the following week (on a day I was out of town, but I told them I would accommodate their schedule if that was the best they could do and I would have someone open my house). I checked in the morning before the carpet was to be installed to confirm everything was on track and to confirm what time I should have my house opened - heard nothing back. Finally, I chased for a response mid-afternoon and did get a reply to that chase. I was told due to a winter storm the week before, the carpet was yet again delayed. While I understand Floors for Living can't control weather delays, the fact that my sales associate didn't even know the delay had occurred four days earlier and didn't proactively manage the situation and reach out to let me know (especially given he already knew I was upset about timing and he knew I was having to coordinate having my house opened because I was out of town) seemed like a very fitting ending to my experience. The carpet was finally installed yesterday and does look good, but Floors for Living repeatedly failed to meet my expectations (most of which were set by them) and seemed incapable of even meeting the most basic customer service expectations. Once they had my money, it was a miserable experience and I would highly encourage you to consider one of the many other options in Katy that are available to you for your flooring needs. read more
