I wanted to have carpet installation in a 11 x 11 room including the closet, so around 170 square feet. I called and wanted a quote for carpet installation and they said they couldn't give me a quote over the phone, so I asked them if they could come out and measure or give me a rough estimate for the job and they said no. They said I had to go to their store and set up an appointment to have them come out to the house. So I drove over there and picked out a carpet and when I told them I just wanted to get a room done they told me there would be a surcharge of $195 for anything less than 450 sq feet. I wished they would of told me over the phone first instead of me driving all the way out there but I understand that this is a small business so I didn't think it was unreasonable. They came out to measure and then they called back with a quote of around $1018 for the room. Needless to say that I decided to go for a different company since they quoted me double the amount of all the other 4 companies I got quoted for the same project. One of the employees was very accommodating and nice but the other was not very communicative and I felt like I wasted my time with all the back and forth. read more

We recently replaced one wood floor and two rooms of carpet with LVP flooring. After getting several estimates, we chose IDEAL Carpet & Flooring and were thrilled with the work done. Second time using Ideal Carpet and Flooring in Richmond! I wanted to re-do my master bathroom and thought "call the experts". Arnold was AMAZING (just like before) guiding me through the process of "what to pick", that is always my hardest problem. After selecting the shower tiles and flooring (which were FABULOUS) the rest was pretty easy. We were to start the install right after the crazy winter storm that Texas had in early March and they did some juggling and stuck to the schedule....THAT WAS AMAZING! The 2 stars isn't because their final product is bad. My bathroom is beautiful and I couldn't be happier with the final result. My 2 stars is their inability to communicate properly with me over things and my bad feeling about being overcharged for materials. I was told I would be getting a "tile artist" who could do amazing and beautiful tile work. I was told their exceptionally high fee was because he would be laying tile with near perfection. What I got was 3 days of this "tile artists" helper laying my floor and a few hours each day of the tile artists putting the tile design on my shower walls. One day he didn't show up until late in the afternoon and that was just to tell me they didn't have enough of the floor tile to finish. I asked the sales guy who sold me a "tile artist" what was happening. I was told that the "tile artist" was to put up the design tile and his helper did all the other work. And they were looking for more tile so they could get done. I asked for an itemized cost list because the helper picked up two boxes of unopened tile and left with it. Was I being charged for this tile even though they were taking it back? Why was an opened nearly full box of the expensive tile laying on my garage floor? Did they order too much and charge me for it? I was told they really didn't DO an itemized list for their customers. Now I'm feeling taken advantage of because who knows what they really charged me for. So if you use them GET AN ITEMIZED list of the work they plan to do and how much the material is they will use and if they will deduct the tile they don't use. This was my fault...so I'm passing along what I learned. The tile is beautiful and I wouldn't change my bathroom for the world. But the bad taste they left in my mouth over the poor customer service and lack of detail on the cost can't be washed away in the fancy new bath. read more

We replaced our carpet with "pet friendly" flooring (karndean art select flooring) and absolutely love it! This place has very competitive prices and the two men who came to install the floors were professional and polite. We did about 800 square feet which took a 3 full days. We haven't even had the floors for 3 days and my husband already emailed them for a quote for the master bedroom. The Ostera family at Ideal Carpet and Flooring have done work in our home three times over a period of 7 years. They first laid tile in the entry and kitchen area. It was perfect and still looks good today. They next remodeled the kitchen and their craftsmen did an outstanding job. The granite and the tiles backspash craftsmen were impressive to watch. It is really well done. We then hired them to remodel our master bath. The attention to the details of the tiles in the shower and the floor created a stunning and beautiful bath. Their customer service is superior to most flooring stores I have visited especially the big box retail stores. During the entire process of looking through sample floors; removing the old flooring in our home; laying down the new wood floors; they communicated with me every step of the way. I received a phone call each day letting me know what the process would be like for the day.
