Such a cool experience! This was my first time in a sensory deprivation like space and I loved every second. When we were greeted, they gave us a great run down of the space, how to use it and what to expect. I loved that we had different options while we were floating. You could listen to calming music or turn it off, and you could keep the light on or turn it off. Everything is up to your preference. You start and end your session by taking a shower. Soap, shampoo and conditioner are all provided for you. They also offer styling tools like combs and blow dryers if you need to use them after. All you really need to bring is a change of clothes if you want them. I was nervous about being too anxious while floating, but I found the experience super calming. I ended up falling asleep for the last half of my float after turning the lights off. This is definitely something I would love to do again. I finally used my gift card from a while back. Decided to "float" my way into the new year and went on 1/31. The staff toured me around the space since it was my first time. I did watch all the orientation videos like your supposed to so most was a refresher. I did float in a suit personal preference and comfortability choice. I started off with the pod open unsure how I could handle it closed but after a minute or so realized I could be brave! After another few moments I did turn off the interior light because it was actually quite bright along with putting the music at the lowest level. I did have some issues trying to relax I think if there was an option to Bluetooth that would be nice because I would have had my Calm app run a guided meditation and/or my preferred pink noise. As no sound was too much since with the ear plugs I could hear my heart beat and I wasn't a fan! Once my brain did finally shut off and I was in a state of float I did have an initial freak out moment splashing all over the pod! I recentered myself fairly quickly however much quicker than the initial process. I don't know that I would personally do it again - I think for me I reach the state of consciousness that a float is to achieve much better during a sound bath and much smoother. However a sound bath may not be the way for other people. It was an interesting experience all the same and I'm glad I finally tried it. The facilities are very nice and the space set up for you to get yourself ready after your float with hair dryers and products etc is also very nice. I'm still rating jt at a 4 based on the overall of the space, staff, environment. My personal experience with this type of experience is hard to put stars on being that I'm not new to reaching a zen state this just was something I struggled with! Maybe it's because my body was sore from working out that morning, definitely from not being able to quite my mind early on in the session but who is to say what the factor for that is. The staff were incredibly friendly, and the place was spotless. They guided us through all the equipment in the room and explained everything thoroughly before we started the fun experience. * They provide a large body towel and a face towel, so you don't need to bring anything with you. You can choose to go naked or wear a swimsuit before you start floating. * The water is body temperature, so if you're worried about it being cold like I was, don't be! The temperature is comfortable and safe. * You can choose to turn the lights on or off, depending on your preference. * Put on the earplugs and use the small towel inside the tank. * Just hop in, relax, and enjoy the floating experience without overthinking it. * I recommend not rubbing your eyes like I did. If water gets in your eyes, they provide a spray bottle for you, but I personally just used the shower head to rinse off. * When the session is over, the music will stop, and they will let you know when your time is up. * They also offer hair dryers and a variety of hair products. The next day, I tried the NovoTHOR red light therapy for about 15 minutes, which is great for cellular healing. I went in without clothes and makeup, and you can adjust the fan to your liking. What an amazing experience! This was my first time going, and I can't wait to book my next session! The receptionist was very welcoming and kind. She walked me through all of the equipment in the room and fully explained what I could expect during my time there. I did a 60 minute float session, and spent the first 10 minutes crying while floating weightlessly in the pool. I felt so free and it really centered my emotions. I had a very stressful few weeks, and the atmosphere made me feel so incredibly safe and at peace that I cried. Good tears forsure! Such a great experience, from start to finish. I made my reservation online and you pay ahead of time. Of note all service fees are included in the price and you don't need to worry about tipping at the spa. I walked in and they have you remove your shoes and put on sanitized "slips" - you can keep your socks on or not. I was guided to my room and given a great explanatory tour (they do have a very good video I recommend watching before you go as well that walks you through the process). They thought of everything - you are provided with wax earplugs (i'd never used this kind before and they were great, super easy to use and completely water tight), a prepacked loofah, petroleum jelly, makeup removing wipe, face and body towel, head donut (more on that) and a great shower with body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. I put in the plugs, and showered with the shampoo and body was as instructed. Turned off the lights and got in. You can choose to manually close/open the lid, so if you feel too claustrophobic you have the option to continue with the lid open. I kept mine closed and it provided a very warm, moist, and spa-like atmosphere in there. I turned off the lights in the room, and chose to have the blue internal light on and music. I wish the music could be a little louder, as with ears submerged and earplugs I found it hard to hear. There is a provided thin foam "donut" that you put under your head to alleviate any pressure/soreness you might get trying to support your head. Immediately my body went to the surface. Initial cold boobs made me think I wouldn't like it, but as the temperature in the pod went up and my body adjusted to the water (which was so spot on that I seriously self like I was just floating on air) it was very comfortable. The first half hour I found it very difficult to relax - all my thoughts were racing and I didn't know how to position my body. Eventually I was able to shut my brain up and found a position that was extremely relaxing. I also closed my eyes with helped. Pretty soon my hour was up and I couldn't believe it! I showered again and used their "post float" room to apply makeup (going out directly after). I've been curious about this place for years. Finally decided last week that it was time for some self care and booked myself an appointment for one of their private open pools. I was fairly certainly the pod style would not be for me. All the orientation videos were so helpful in helping me to manage my expectations. Staff were friendly and the place was clean. I took my shampoo only shower, put the earplugs in, turned off the overhead lights and grabbed the head pillow before settling into the pool. The water was warm and it was amazing how easily you float right up with all the salt water. I enjoyed the calming music in the background. I did test off turning off the the pool lights but as it was my first time, I felt more relaxed with them on. I did the 60 minute float. I found that to be a nice amount of time for me. I was worried I would miss all the cues that my time was up but I definitely noticed the lights flash and heard the doorbells. When I was in there I did some visualization, then watch some lights inside my head. And then I just got very very quiet. Now that I've been to Float twice, I can confirm that the 60-minute float is a nice and relaxing experience. The first time, it was good, but trying it out for the first time, it took me a while to quiet the mind. This time, knowing what to expect, I went into the pod with my earplugs in, left the blue light and the music on again, and quickly allowed myself to relax. We tried Floating for the first time at Float Milwaukee and everything was amazing! We had been here for a Yelp event recently and it was great to learn about it then and now be back for the actual Float itself. We checked in once we came to the reception. We signed a waiver with information electronically which was emailed to us for our records. And then soon after we were taken inside to our rooms and given instructions for the float. The rooms were kept very clean and everything you can think of that you can possibly need is available. They also have a getting-ready room for after with hair dryers and lotions and everything else that you can use after the Flot itself. I liked how the lids can completely close and it becomes completely dark. You have the option of having the light on inside the tank or even the lid open which gives everyone so much flexibility. For the first 10 mins, take your time to figure out things - what sound level, do you like the light or not, do you like the neck pillow, ear buds on or off and similarly lid closed or open. Once you find that sweet spot.. settle in and you won't even know where the hour went. A lot of people talk about falling asleep in the tank, but this wasn't the case for me. I've floated a few more times since my initial visit and honestly, I wish I could do it every week. First, they now have some dedicated parking spaces so that's awesome! Second, I now know that a 90 minute float is better for me than 60. I take a bit to relax so 90 minutes gives me lots of zen time. Very relaxing! Nice staff! They provide liquid soap, shampoo, conditioner, ear plugs, loofa, vaseline, makeup remover, a shower scrunchie and towels. There is also a squirt bottle of fresh water in case you get salt in your eyes while you are in the spa. The air temperature, water temperature, and your body temperature are all nearly the same so it is very comfortable floating even if your skin is above the waterline. The water is approximately a foot deep and you will definitely float due to the amount of salt in the water. They also provide you with a floating ring for your head, but you don't have to use it because your face will be above the water regardless. You can float naked or with a swimsuit, but it is recommended to not have any stimuli and a swimsuit could interfere with tactile stimuli, therefore swimming naked is best. Also I'm unsure what the salts would do to a swimsuit. After the float I had a great reduction in pain for several days (mostly back pain for me) and my skin was incredibly soft. It is very relaxing and therapeutic. Definitely watch the recommended videos before you go so you know what to expect and how to use everything. Once you go into your private room, you are alone unless you press the call button for assistance on the intercom. There is an intercom button in the Float pool area itself if you have an emergency or need assistance. You have the option of being in total darkness or having the blue pool light on or even having the room lights on. They also have soft spa music which you can adjust the volume or turn off completely. There is ample parking either on the street or across the street in their parking lot. The business front door is locked and you call when you arrive and they open the door for you. It is very nice to have that sense of security. read more

Such a great place! I went in with little expectations and just wanted to let myself experience the float however I see fit. I didn't want to pressure my mind into this deep meditation the first time. The place is really serene with modern decor and a place for decompressing after your float. They have community journals, coloring books, water/tea, other mindfulness books to look through and contribute to after you are done with your float. They give you good instructions on how to prepare for the float. I would suggest to wear the earplugs. My friend did not and her ear canals were caked in salt after we got out and the water evaporated. Fun to play and experience different perceptions and feel weird weight of your arms and how taking away sight and hearing impacts the rest of your senses. Will definitely be going back! read more

I came for my first float when I first moved to Milwaukee. Moving is stressful. A little relaxation was needed. I can't believe it's taken me this long to write the review! If you're new to Float, here's some things you might like to know: +I didn't feel the least bit claustrophobic. Some of their float tanks have lids you can close, but it's optional. Plus, if that still makes you nervous, when you call to make your appointment, simply ask for one of their open pools (no lid!). +You don't have to turn the lights completely out. There's soft lights you can control (leave on, leave on low, etc). That said, I thought for sure I'd leave them on and about 15 minutes in, was so comfortable, I went ahead and shut them off. +The water is the perfect temperature and the room is warm, so, at no point, was I the slightest bit cold (or hot!) +You don't need a swim suit. The float rooms are entirely private with a shower in the room. +They provide (new) earplugs for you to use during your float. Do this. I didn't and could hear salt crystals in my ears for a few days afterward (kind of weird crunching). I ran water in my ears in the shower, but it didn't flush it all out. Beyond all of that, Float Milwaukee is a beautifully clean, relaxing environment. They have a room where you can tidy up (blow dry your hair, fix makeup, etc) afterwards, which was nice. Everyone that I came into contact with was quite lovely, accommodating, and eager to answer any questions. Whether you need a break from the people you've been living with or the thoughts flying around your own head, there's no better way to escape and relax than Float Milwaukee. They require masks and have protocols in place to maximize both safety and comfort. This is something I've wanted to try for a long time but never got around to it until a friend got me a gift certificate for my birthday. Every part of the experience was great. They allow you to schedule your appointment online so you can easily find a time to fit your schedule. Their schedule was pretty full a couple weeks out, but I eventually found a time that worked for me. After booking they will send you an email with important info regarding their covid protocols which includes the link to a very informative video tour of their facilities. When you arrive it's all a very easy experience. Leave your shoes at the door, put on some sandals, and you'll be brought to your room. I chose to do an enclosed pod, but they also have open tubs available. Once in your room all you have to do it put your ear plugs in (follow the directions 'cause they aren't normal plugs!), take a shower, then slide into your tub. You have control of both the light and music in the tub to find the best experience for you. With that set, all that's left is to slip away into relaxing bliss. Like many others have said, it can be tough to allow your mind and body to fully relax on your first float, but by the end I was completely relaxed and loving the experience. Overall I would highly recommend you give this place a try! The one thing I think they could improve on is having the end of float notification sound gently increase in volume. I was super skeptical of this experience. But good God, this is total Witchcraft, but it worked for me and I've already scheduled a return visit. I have been seeing a physical therapist for weeks due to issues with my SI Joint (hips to lower spine) being all out of alignment. I have been in pain for weeks. My experience did not "solve" my problem, but it certainly helped a LOT. I had increased range of motion, and when I wenext went back to my physical therapist, he was so impressed with the progress my body had made he said he planned to try out a Float for himself. A couple things to note: this experience has a bunch of options. Open tank/closed tank. Dim blue light/complete darkness. "Woo woo massage music"/silence. The psychological experience of sitting in total dark/total silence (do a quick google on meditative breathing if you've never done meditation before) is a very unique experience. I loved it. No matter what, you're in control. The only other thing to consider is that the salts used, while super beneficial in many ways, strip your hair of its natural oils. For me, that was a bummer as I care a lot about my hair. Im interested in seeing if a swim-cap would harm the experience. May have to report back on that! **update after second session** At this point I continue to be impressed. Where do I even begin!! I didn't know Milwaukee had such a cool place to unwind, relax, and set your mind adrift. When we first got to Float everyone was so lovely!! They had spa shoes you put on when you first arrive and you fill out information on their iPads. This place was so organized and clean! The staff explained how it'll work, what to expect, and offered a place afterwards to freshen up. They had everything you needed from the beginning to the end. You were given wipes, towel, ear plugs, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash for before your float and after. Swimsuits aren't required because you get a private room to unwind and relax the way you'd like. When you're completely done with your session there's a room just for freshening up. They offered everything you need from ear cleaners to hair products, lotion, and hot hair styling materials such as blow dryers and irons! When you're in the float chamber you don't feel claustrophobic at all! There's so much space. You have the option for nice relaxing music or enjoying your float in complete silence. The staff suggested for your first float to try without music and to be in complete darkness. However, you do have the option to enjoy your float with a very low/dim light. We opted for the 60 minute session and was worth every minute. When you're in the float chamber your mind just goes adrift. You don't even realize you're in there for an hour. Time just passes you by but in a nice relaxing way. They have tons of salt in the chamber so you can't go under the water. They tell you when your session is over via the machine and it's a gradual process. You definitely feel relaxed and calm when you're done! I felt a bit tired afterwards for the rest of the day, wasn't too sure if that's how I should've felt but it was relaxing nevertheless. I would definitely want to try this again. Floating is a very cool concept and I love that they are located on Freshwater Way....how fitting! It took me some time to settle into the float but once I did it was very relaxing. It isn't something that I would do regularly; however, twice a year it would be perfect! Here are a few things to know before you float: 1) The tanks are clean and they are filtered before every float. You shower before and after you enter. 2) No swimsuit is required...you are in your birthday suit. 3) It is saltwater so it does taste nasty and it will sting if you get it in your eyes. 4) They have some cosmetic items for after but I would recommend bringing your own if you are particular. 5) They will retrieve you if you fall asleep and don't hear the recording to wake you up. The lights go on in the pod after the float so you don't have to worry about being left to die in the pod :) 6) You will get used to the float and start to enjoy it after 20-30 minutes. 7) Some people feel invigorated but the group I went with all felt super relaxed after the float. I think that the next time I float it will be even better because I will 100% know what to expect. It is definitely worth trying out. read more

50 for a 60 min float as a first timer. I dont mind if i do! I wish that I could describe to you what happened at Float Milwaukee but I cant. The establishment itself is in the Fifth Ward near Purple Door Ice Cream and Black Sheep MKE. Upon entering you can take your shoes off and they offer you sandals. You are informed about what float is and what you can expect. You are also asked to sign a waiver. During this time you are waiting for your room (pod) to become free as it is being cleaned. Inside it is very reminiscent of a spa with natural lighting, clean smells and neutral colors. You are given a tour once your room is ready. They even have a room that you can go to after you are done with your float and clean yourself up something like a powder room. They even had environmental friendly products! We were escorted to our rooms and were given instructions on how to our pods. I was more of a daredevil I wanted my pod to be completely dark! In the room and inside of the pod. My lady not so much she needed some light! You have to shower and shampoo before and after leaving the pod. *Alert* When they precaution you about the salt in the water that's serious! Salt got in my mouth beard and eyes...lol They give you ear plugs and q-tips. So now the good part..the float. Its hard to describe. Your muscles take sometime to get used to not having to work or support your body. My mind raced for quite sometime before i was able to focus and then in what felt like sleep came over me. The salt did effect me and get in my eye it is really slimy on your skin. I got out after a hour and showered with some of the greatest smelling grapefruit soap compliments of Float MKE. I felt refreshed and sleepy and tired at the same time. I will warn you that I did try to eat right after and my stomach has having none of my foolishness! So maybe wait an hour or so. Everything from the first contact to parking was great. The experience of the actual float was another story. The music in the pool was broken and they had a small radio to use if you wanted. I froze the entire time! Don't turn the lights down because it shuts off the heat lamps which certainly would have helped me! I have visited here every time I have stayed in Milwaukee. The staff is very friendly and informative. They have the closed pods and open pools for floats. Each room has a private shower. I prefer the pod as it is pitch black and I regulate my body temperature better. You can choose silence or to listen to calming music. The shampoo, conditioner and body wash provided is great. Love the smell of the body wash. In a non covid time they also have a general area to do your hair/make after the float. My first time floating I came here. Was a great experience. The facility was quiet, calm, and clean. They have a nice post float area to put yourself together if you'd like before stepping back into the world. The rooms themselves are warm, with a shower right there. The pod has an optional light and music that can be turned off. The water is mostly body temp, could be slightly warmer and is an option if asked for. It was amazing, very relaxing. This was something else. My first float, and sure not to be my last. First of all, the owner guy, how cool is he!? He does a great job of talking to you about floating, answers your questions, and is just a really nice guy. When you arrive you sign some paperwork, and wait with the other floaters for the rooms to get ready. It is fun watching the previous floaters walk out, they are usually dazed and not ready for the real world post-float. But then they take you back and give you the instructions, they go over everything in great detail for us first-time floaters, which was great. The float rooms are a bit industrial actually. The pump and filter is right there for you to see, and the showers (while you pull the curtain around you as to not get water in the pod) are just right there in the corner. But anyway, you shower up and get in! (it kinda reminded me of the sleeping pods from True Blood). And you float. its soo weird at first. Like you just pop up on the surface and float for real! Getting your head to relax is the hardest part, but you'll figure it out, i know you can. The light can stay on, but its crazy bright and i felt like i was using too many muscles to close my eyes or look at the top of the pod. so the light i turned off right away. Then i did the same for the music (which is nice relaxing spa music, but that gets old). Really, do it up right and be totally sensory void. Once i fully let myself relax it was amazing. You can't tell where the water ends on you and what is in the air (remember, you are floating so part in part out of the water). I couldn't tell if i had legs or arms, unless they lightly tapped the side of the pod as i was floating around, then i was like "oh, that's my finger way over there." Perfect meditation. Hard to really explain. Just do it. I can't believe i was in there an hour. When the voice came on and the light came on...i was shocked. Then you shower up and head out into the real world. they provide your soaping needs so you don't need any of that, and there is a room for you to pamper if needed afterwards (i hardly need any pampering, naturally good looking here). Few tips: -Take the little towel and hang it on the handle on the inside, in the event that you get salt water in your eyes. -Totally dry your face off first, helps with keeping salt water out -Don't get salt water in your eyes (I didn't, but can see how that would suck) -Go dark...and go silent (turn the lights off, and turn the music off) -Plan to relax after it (I went to Eric L's to watch the badger game, there was too much stimulus there, while i enjoyed their company I wish I had just gone home or somewhere that wasn't so involved... (I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a bit nervous, though... so here's some context that may prove helpful for anyone on the fence: I'm an anxious person. I'm also claustrophobic. I'm a curmudgeon, but I'm open minded at once. Spoiler alert: I would do this again in a heartbeat. If you'd like to gift me something out of love and the goodness of your heart, you should probably gift me a float or a massage.) "Okay, let's do this!" How it works: +check out the website beforehand - it'll answer any burning questions you may have (yes, you do float naked!) +trade your shoes for flippie-floppies at the door +check-in w/ the front desk staff. They'll explain EVERYTHING. +Stash your stuff and then hit your POD ROOM. Strip down and then shower before entering the POD +ENTER THE POD. Commence to let yourself go and float - you will float, and once you quiet your mind you'll start to drift into some weird, organic-thought-like state. It's amazing. I had a hard time letting go on my first float, so I didn't quite hit meditation until about an hour in. The remaining half hour was mind-blowing. +You can leave the blue light on or turn it off, you can have the relaxing music piped in or you can go radio silent, too... set it all up the way it best suits you. (I found that I loved having the music on and the light off.) +DO NOT TOUCH YOUR FACE, especially your eyes. I mean it. The pods are clean. (This was a concern of mine, because I get eeky about that kind of stuff, but trust me... it's sparkling. The space is so clean, too. The waiting area is awesome - they provide tea and snacks post-float. The people are friendly and knowledgable.) And I WANT TO GO BACK, like today, because who isn't stressed? Nap time for adults! I've "floated" several times and on each occasion it has been different. My first time I couldn't get relaxed enough for my mind to turn off and stop pondering how many minutes were left. However, by my most recent float, I drifted off and in what felt like seconds later my session was over. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the facilities are immaculate. I would recommend the experience to anyone who is curious about meditation through sensory deprivation, or just wants some true peace and quiet. The only improvement I might suggest is the offer of a post float massage. read more

This was my first time trying a float session. They do a fantastic job making you feel very comfortable from the moment you walk in the door. I appreciated the quick tour he gave - what the room is like, what to do, where to go, what it will be like, etc. Once I was in the room alone, I got situated and floated on! The first 10 minutes I kept my ears above water using their inflatable head rest. Once I got use to the feeling, I removed the head rest and let my ears go under water, so I could truly hear and see nothing but my heartbeat and breathing (kind of neat, by the way!). It was definitely a unique and relaxing feeling! This is something I would definitely recommend everyone try at least once. I will go back and do this again. read more

I cannot even say how wonderful the entire experience at Float Mke was - it blew my mind!! From my first call to the moment I walked out the door, zen and grateful, Andy was beyond helpful. The staff had thought of EVERYTHING I could possibly desire in my floating experience, and Andy took his time showing me around, explaining everything thoroughly, and assuaged any fears I was having come up around the experience. While the float itself was beautiful, you can float lots of places. I will be going back to Andy at Float Milwaukee because of the incredible customer service and attention to detail, and his commitment to quality and care. This was beyond amazing! It took me a little bit to get my brain off and relax... But once I did, I have never felt so weightless and relaxed. By the end of it all the little back and shoulder pains I feel on a regular basis were gone for a few hours. I was calm all day and into today still. My only issue is I still have a little water in my ear. Lol Go try it! Everyone needs this at least once in their life. Reset yourself!!!! read more

Truly one of a kind, spectacular experience. All of my nerves, concerns, and overall unsure feelings about my first 60 minute flight were put to ease when I got there. Staff was great and far from pretentious, they were just as excited as was for my virgin float. Over all everything was fantastic and wanted to specify some things. The email they send you before is very helpful as to what to expect before your first float. The actual room was nice. They walked us through how to do everything and said to expect a voice to tell you when to begin and end. I used the neck pillow provided as I didn't wanna get water in my ears, worked great. I am a very high stressed person so I wasn't sure if I could turn my mind off but after about ten minutes, I was totally relaxed. The salt water seemed a bit slimey but I attribute that to the high salt content. Highly recommend to anyone with higher stress and looking for a way to unwind. read more

Andy, Ana, Conner, and Ryan were AWESOME! A friend (who had floated once before) and I (who had never floated before FM) were in town for a convention and decided to try Float Milwaukee. Being a little skeptical of what to expect as 'benefits of floating', I researched FM's great website, which was clear and easy to navigate. FM successfully confirmed & reminded me of my appointments (made weeks earlier) and sought to answer any questions I would have. Upon arrival, we were taken on The Tour and left to our experiences, of which I am still thoroughly impressed - I came out seriously relaxed. The staff were amazingly aware of our needs - like in the 5-Star sense - and the whole experience was a demonstration of what 'anticipating needs' should be! And: the facilities were impeccably clean. I would definitely recommend Float Milwaukee for first-time or seasoned floaters - I really want to try an overnight float, too! read more

Sweet baby Jesus! Where do I begin? I've wanted to try floating for some time and it was never a priority until I won a float. A free float? Well that certainly makes it a priority! I arrived and parked in a gravel lot across the street (free parking). I took off my shoes, put on the sandals they had and was greeted right away. I signed a waiver while they were finishing the filtration on the pod. Once you enter into the hallway, it feels very much like a spa. It smells clean, the inside was clean and the colors were neutral and calming. The young man working showed me around and then took me to room 5 where I would see my "floating" pool. *Cue to angels singing* I was given the full rundown on how things were, how to control the light, the noise, where the panic button was located, etc. He explained to shower prior to entering and then rinse off after. He gave me a very good rundown on everything and I felt like I was very informed. I opted to float in the open pool when I made my appointment. I'm admittedly a little claustrophobic so I wasn't sure the pod would be for me. I'm happy with my selection. The young man left and the magic started. I put in the silicone ear plugs. They don't block the sound, they simply help to keep the water out of your ears. He suggested I try them as not to distract from the floating experience and I'm glad I did. He also suggested I use the ring for your head just to be sure that my neck would fully relax. I took a shower and got in the pool in my birthday suit. I wish I could fully describe what happened next but it's impossible. I put the ring behind my head and relaxed back. Instantly my butt popped up and my whole body was floating. I'll be real, I wasn't entirely convinced that I wouldn't feel like I needed to use my muscles to "float". Let me tell you, you DO completely float, there's no work on the part of your body at all. It took a few minutes for me to get situated. My mind raced, I futzed with the position of my legs and arms but what I was doing didn't feel natural so I just took some deep breaths and relaxed into the pool. That's when the real magic went down. I closed my eyes and my hands instantly wanted to be palm up and straight out from my body, my legs naturally fell apart a bit and my toes relaxed. Occasionally I opened my eyes to look around and I would be in a different position than I started. I had no clue that I was just floating around in circles in there! I continued to relax and was awoken by what sounded like a door bell. I opened my eyes briefly and then closed them again. A few minutes later, another door bell.... NOOOO, I didn't want it to be over! I got out, showered off and then got dressed. I used the q-tips in the dressing room just to clean the extra water from the shower out of my ears. They have other products available there as well for cleaning up and getting ready. The two people working asked how it went and we talked about my experience and theirs as well. Does it compare to a massage? Yes but no. My husband and I weren't convinced that I would like it "better" than a massage. It's a completely different experience. To me, I felt more relaxed and refreshed after and less exhausted. Massages always make me want to be a bum for the rest of the day. After leaving the float, I felt energized. I also liked that it was quiet and dark, except the dim light of the pool (which I could have turned off) and the faint sound of meditating music. Try it... today! Make it a priority, for real! This is an updated review--I've had a second float, and it was a markedly better experience than my first. I think it makes a huge difference if you have the lights/music on inside the float tank. This time I had everything off, and the experience was much more relaxing, and the hour went by very quickly. The water inside the tank was warm enough that I wasn't at all cold during the float. It was really nice to enjoy the peace and quiet and float in the darkness--it all felt very calm and meditative.This is a super relaxing way to treat yourself to something special and to try something new. The owner was on site to answer questions and chat after the float, and he seems to really care about each guest experience. The float room had everything I needed (several towels, make up remover, etc) and the shower and shampoo/conditioner provided in the room were high quality and smelled amazing. read more

Float Milwaukee is an amazing place. The Owner, Andy, put extra thought into setting up the environment in order for it to be free of sounds and vibrations while you are floating and I for one totally appreciate the time spent!! The staff has always been friendly and enthusiastic about floating. The ambiance is beautiful and serene. Everything is always crystal clean. I have floated a lot and Float Milwaukee always comes out on top and my favorite float place!! Try the open floats, more room and a different feel than the pods! read more
