What a simply amazing experience we had at Float and a perfect way to start our Mommy Get Away! Setting up the appointment well in advance was extremely easy. My friend and I had each booked two sessions. I had booked the "Just Bright Facial - 25 min" with Tatiana and the "Pacific Paradise Ritual - 50 min" with Erin. As we arrived, we were immediately greeted by the staff and felt relaxed from the start. After checking in, we were walked over to the waiting room which was nice and spacious. Staff picked us both up within 5 minutes, which was nice. Tatiana was great! The facial was just what I needed for a quick revamp. My skin felt really great and refreshed. For the body scrub, I cannot have words with how amazing Erin was. It was my first body scrub and I didn't realize it would be as therapeutic as it was! The level of the scrub was light for me as I would have preferred the larger scrub grains but this was the style I chose as my friend chose another and said it was more grainy but that didn't get in the way of my muscles feeling at ease. I had several knots that I didn't mention to Erin and SHE FOUND THEM! At one point, I laughed and told her it's like she's talking to my body as she knew exactly where to add the pressure. Great spa. Clean. Wonderful staff. However a bachelorette party was going on and made the bathroom so full that getting in to get changed or use the facility was difficult. Then their chatter and noise outside during the entire one hour massage was anything but relaxing. I recommend not booking guests when an event like that is happening at the same time. Or tell the women to be quiet. If you book, make sure none of that is happening during your time there. read more

I would strongly discourage anyone from supporting this business. I had a 75-minute massage scheduled for 5 pm, a Father's Day gift from my two grown children. I planned my day around it. Then I locked my keys in the car on my way and showed up 20 minutes late, because I had to wait for AAA to open my car. When I arrived, I was led to the massage room, where the therapist told me I had only 45 minutes left. (The person at the front desk had not told me this.) I thought that meant that they had to close in 45 minutes and that the rest of the massage would have to come later. So I said that I'd rather not split it up and would prefer to reschedule when I could do the whole thing. When I went downstairs to reschedule, I found that I had misunderstood, and that the 15 minutes that had been taken off the time was not available anymore. OK, I could understand that. I WAS late. I was told that the therapist had to be compensated for her time. I asked how much time it had taken to get there and home. I was told it was not my concern as to how much time the therapist had taken. I was told that the entire amount of the gift certificate would be charged: $160. This was unacceptable, so I asked to speak with the manager, who was not there. Eventually, Alicia (the manager) and I spoke on the phone, or rather, she spoke and then spoke over me. She had already cashed in or canceled (or whatever the right word is) the total amount ($160) of my gift certificate. Apparently her employees told her that I had been very, very confrontational. In fact, yes, I had "confronted" (as in pushed back against) the fact that they were planning to cancel the whole thing for being late, but I did not use bad language, was not condescending, said nothing personal, and told them that I knew they did not make the rules but that this seemed fundamentally unfair and not right, which is why I asked to speak tot the manager. On the phone with Alicia, she said that all the rules about being late, etc, were covered in the materials I had received. First, I did not know I would receive any forms to fill out or an email. I was on vacation and out of the house all day and didn't look at my email until the following day. I made the appt on the day of the appt, so might have been nice, and good service, to make sure I knew there was an email I absolutely needed to look at before arriving. Having received no such indication, I didn't see the email about their draconian rules until it was too late. On the phone, Alicia told me that her employees whom I'd met were both excellent, and that she always backed her employees (an honorable impulse but not always right) and took their word that I was confrontational and, so, no massage for me. If I miss a doctor's appt, I'm charged some service fee, understandably. But at Float, you might well get charged as if you had used the entire service, when you had in fact used none. Alicia eventually hung up on me. I'll not be going back. This is a human-to-human service. This was a Father's Day gift. I experienced an unfortunate and, thankfully, rare event of locking the keys in the car. No quarter was given. No compensation offered. read more

I came with anticipation of getting a total sensory relaxation, but I am disappointed with the fact the business owner has not gotten the locker room accessible, and the charming garden that I was hoping to use after the massage is unkept, reflective pond and the water fountains are both dried littered with dead leaves. I'm in the commercial asset management business, and this is not how an upscale facility charging the high service price should operate. There is definitely a big disconnect between the physical space presentation and internet photo impression. My husband and I are still waiting at lounge for our massage sessions. i have been to many salons in santa barbara, but FLOAT definitely is one of the best out there! their prices are on the higher side, but the quality of service, customer care, products used, and other complimentary experiences make it 100% worth it. i have had several facials and massages here, and every time i'm blown away by the kindness and care of float's professionals. they know how to create a welcoming atmosphere, as well as a truly soothing one. the massage bed was heated, there was calming music being played the entire service, and afterwards i was able to relax in the upstairs lounge and visit the outdoor garden as well they have a great selection of products available to use in the bathrooms (super clean!), as well as infused water and a large hot tea selection. the interior design is also impeccable! i truly feel like a luxurious queen at this spa, and can't get enough of it thank you for such wonderful experiences and i will definitely be back again read more
