Not the first time I've been here and very happy to say that my latest particular treatment, an 80 min CBD massage with Erin was FANTASTIC, to say the very least. Easy to get-to location with ample public (pay) parking just across the street, beautiful entry/waiting/boutique area, friendly/helpful staff upfront. The massage room(s) are roomy yet cozy, very comfortable and dialed-in for a first-class experience. Erin's masseuse skills are top-notch, expertly applied with knowledge and finesse. Easy conversation and also observant while I was nearly half-dozing off in bliss... Could not ask for better. Honestly, I thought Float was a bit overpriced for what it was. For the price point, I expected a luxurious experience. But, with 6 of us & other guests in the building, everything felt cramped -- the locker room with only 1 toilet & 1 shower, the seating area upstairs was OK, and the outside space left a lot to be desired (full of cobwebs and leaves everywhere...nothing like the staged photos). Because I typically only like sports massages & I can get those for less than the price point here, I went for a facial. To note, my reference point for facials is typically a hydra-facial. I saw good reviews on Yelp for "The Works" facial, which is $130 for 50 minutes. Whew - that's a pretty penny. According to their website it's..."Float's Signature facial refreshes, refines and tightens your skin. This facial includes a deep cleansing and skin analysis, exfoliation and extractions to decongest pores. An enzyme-based pumpkin peel digests dead skin cells, and a green tea ginger mask replenishes. You will experience an instant increase in firmness and noticeably softer skin." It was generally surprisingly relaxing for a facial. The near-downtown location made it a bit noisy as sounds of sirens and other outdoor noises easily traveled in. There were VERY minor extractions - she maybe poked at my nose 2-3x and that was about it. It just felt like a lot of different masks over and over again for 50 minutes. Meh. read more

Given the fact that I tried to have a thorough conversation with the manager/owner about how disappointing the services were, and yet she still felt that she needed to charge full price (as the Owner is very aware- I was only "given" a slight discount after I was charged full price and had them AGAIN call the Owner - but ownership definitely did not offer this in our conversation nor advise the front desk to accommodate until I addressed) ... and this is all despite the fact that Owner acknowledged things did not go down the way that they should have - AND that she is understaffed and therefore under serving clients- I was referred here by the concierge at the hotel I'm staying at in town. When I relayed to them the experience that I had at the spa, they were beyond embarrassed and 100% on board with the fact that this was not at all an acceptable experience - and the response from the owner/manager was completely uncalled for and not what one hopes for when one takes the time to express concerns. (Of course, "publicly" owners are generally quick to post comments misleading readers as to what the actual conversations were. Had ownership been friendly and gracious about this - there would be no reason to spend time posting a review.) This has been a difficult year for all small businesses, so some amount of latitude for staff being overwhelmed is understandable; but not at a business where the safety and health should be key concerns. The gal at the front desk already had a line in front of her and despite it being a holiday weekend the owners did not feel it was necessary to have any other coverage or help, so most of us were left standing online for 20 minutes even when we had services that were at the current moment. The gal behind me was so upset that she pretty much barked out - "is there anyone who can help me because you told me to get here early and yet I'm just standing in line for 20 minutes listening to you discuss boss services with someone who came in off the street!" Next - throughout my hour at the salon nobody called me by my correct name - especially discouraging when you're supposed to be a guest and comfortable and relaxed. And when there was a problem 45 minutes into checking in, my name was completely forgotten (the gal at the front asked me who I was!) despite her just having checked me in for two sessions booked. Again - just not a great feeling. The treatment that I first had was a spa scrub, and the gal who was performing this service had not stocked up on any of the things she would need for the actual service, so I had to keep asking for things like a rubber band, a shower cap, something to cover up my eyes; the next challenge with the service was that all she was doing was smearing stuff around without actually applying it expertly the way a SPA technician is supposed to. - the service was interrupted three times because she was missing things she needed to perform the 50 minute session. So I kept being left on the table with minutes wasted. The showerhead in the shower wasn't working properly so I could not properly shower off, and she ran out of lotion halfway through the service and had to stop for five minutes to go get more lotion! While none of these drops are devastating, all combined over the course of 36 minutes it was enough for me to say that I've had enough and was ready to just end the service - for what she was doing we certainly did not need 50 minutes- it could've all been done within about 25 given it was not with any skilled technique. (I can rub scrub or lotion on someone in no particular order or with any particular skill or pressure - and that's pretty much all that was happening; just someone shmearing stuff around.) Once I got dressed and went downstairs to try to speak to a manager, as I've already mentioned there was no manager on site despite it being a busy holiday weekend where they were completely overcommitted, and when I did finally speak to the manager as I mentioned above via phone while she acknowledged that everything that I had said was appropriate and is not the way that a session should go, including the front desk gal not knowing my name despite having me booked in for several services, she offered no apology (not once) and no slight discount off of the service that had not gone well. In fact after being charged, I had to asked that they please call the owner and request the discount - that took another 15 minutes for her to sort out). Had ownership been gracious and generous the review would reflect it. Reviews are for a reason - it's to let people know whether something is worth the value of paying what is charged towards a business. At this point in time FLOAT seems to be lacking what you would hope for and expect from a full-service day spa. Thank you. read more

My husband and I booked a couples spa package (2 facials, 2 massages) while in town for our babymoon/ wedding anniversary celebration. We even called from the car on the way to ask a question and confirm 15 minutes prior to our appointments. Upon arrival we were told one of the therapists was unwell and could not do the massage we had scheduled. We agreed to switch to the following day even though it completely ruined the day we had already planned. After much back and forth, we were then told they couldn't get a therapist for the following day either. Not only were they unable to accommodate us, the way the situation was handled was quite unprofessional, unaccommodating and assumed no accountability. Not only did it ruin our day but ruined our trip. We were so disappointed by the experience and even more so, how it was handled. We decided to forgo the facials because we couldn't bring ourselves to spend money at this establishment. read more

If you love to be pampered, a tranquil and refreshing environment, and quality customer service with a smile put FLOAT Spa on your to-do list! If you know me you know I like my coffee quite a lot, but my skin has never been a big fan of it. I decided to try a FLOAT spa facial to attempt to rid of my dirty pores and sun damaged skin. I had original booked a Fire and Ice facial (honestly because it sounded super cool and came highly recommended) but after meeting with Heidi the facial genius, decided to go with a berry, acai brightening facial due to my sensitive features and young skin. I parked right across the street in the parking garage and strolled on in to the perfectly air conditioned lobby. The lobby was shockingly clean, had cozy chairs, and tons of high quality products/brands for sale. The front desk gal showed me the adorable locker rooms, had me change into the comfiest robe and Havaianas slippers, then guided me to the upstairs waiting lounge with a fire place, tea, beautiful books, and the most relaxing chairs. I was only there 60 seconds before Heidi, my wonderful facial gal showed up. If I had any regrets about this experience it would be the I didn't show up a lot early and enjoy the luxuries of the waiting lounge that the spa has to offer. Any who, I was guided into the feather room (which I think is perfect for Heidi because her hands glide around your face like a feather so delicately and precise) which was pleasantly dark and had a nice aroma therapy sound system going to tune out any outside traffic. Heidi was very genuine, sweet, and a great listener. She obviously has been doing this for very many years and really knows her stuff. Throughout the whole facial I would smell incredible berry aromas, be refreshed by lemony, minty oils, and feel replenished with each scrub and wash. I couldn't tell you every single thing she did as there was a whole artsy process to it but I did like how, in the moment, she calmly walked me through each step she was taking, what was in the lotions, scrubs, and washes and how it would affect my skin. I am however aware that the brand of products she used for the entire facial was Epicuren which is all natural, and full of vitamins essential for cleanse and glow of the skin. I wish the facial could have lasted forever as it was so refreshing, relaxing, and rejuvenating but as it came to an end I went and relaxed in the back pond area then showered in the surprisingly clean locker room showers. I am not one to shower in public ever, as it is one of my biggest pet peeves so the fact I did this AND enjoyed it is a big deal folks. They had high end shampoo and conditioner products (that they sell in the front shop) for your sampling use pleasures and even a mouthwash pump for those looking to get that full body "cleanse" feeling. As I was leaving the front desk gal gave me a ton of sunscreen, scrub, and moisturizer samplers to take home with me by recommendation of Heidi. Since then I have tried each one and seen amazing results from each. The Epicuren sunscreen, specifically, is light, has no smell (big deal to miss sensitive nose over here), and really gives a glow to my face while protecting it from sun damage. I really enjoyed the organization, cleanliness, and quality of service from FLOAT Spa. They are very on top of it, hire only the best, and clearly take pride in their business wanting each and every costumer to have the utmost best experience possible. I will be back.. read more

This is a completely superb place with exceptional staff, every single one. Reception welcome very calm and professional, then was taken to a beautiful waiting area and given water to drink. My massage with Tyshon was absolutely outstanding. He was attentive to what I needed in terms of problem areas and pressure and when he massaged my head he seemed to have about 4 hands! Heaven. My Facialist Elisa was also really excellent and didn't mind my occasional snores as I was so relaxed I kept falling asleep. These treatments were with a voucher from a generous friend but I would definitely return as that kind of bliss is really worth it. Also my face is GLOWING!! read more

I came in flustered because I was running late with my partner (couples massage) and the second I walked in, they were so supportive/kind/calming. The atmosphere is absolutely beautiful from the front desk area (you can buy oils/candles/etc) to the lounge upstairs (coffee, tea, water, couches, fireplace) to the massage room (nice music, very clean, storage for your clothes). I had Daniel who made me feel so comfortable (I know some people worry as a female getting a massage from a male) but he was 10/10 perfect. He was holistic, personable, fun, welcoming and made the experience fantastic since he checked-in on how I was feeling, how was the pressure (I did Swedish massage), etc. I left feeling so refreshed and rejuvenated. The space for the spa is small within the hotel but you do get access to the pool area if you are not staying there. I live nearby so a great amenity to get a massage close to home. The massage that I got yesterday at float luxury spa was amazing. It was pricey but Daniel really knew what to do. My right upper should and neck were so tight from running and mountain biking. He was able to release the pressure and it was no longer sore after the massage nor today. In the past I've never had a massage therapist able to release pressure in my neck to the point it actually goes away. They always over work my neck with the pain still there afterwards making my neck kind of more sore. I think Daniel must have additional training than just being a massage therapist because he could really tell we're all my tension was. I highly recommend him. read more

This place was a nice little spot that was walking distance from the Kimpton Canary. My husband and I were able to book a couple slot for the same day and share a room together. I got the maternity massage and he got a regular but we both really enjoyed the experience. Prior to the massage we were able to relax in front of their indoor fireplace after changing into our robes and drank some of their complimentary tea/coffee. It was a very relaxing experience and the spa itself was very clean/minimalistic in design which I appreciated. While it was a bit pricier than I am used to paying, it was a nice little splurge for our baby moon getaway and I would say that it was worth the extra money for a nice experience with skilled masseuses. read more

I have been going to Float for years and I LOVE it there. I hadn't been since the pandemic started and when I went yesterday, I was very happy with the level of attention to keeping people safe. The locker rooms are not open just yet, which was totally fine. You can still sit by the fire in the lounge, which is one of my favorite parts of going there. Came here with two friends for a mini Bachelorette Party. I got a 60min deep tissue massage with Devin. He was very professional and tentative to my problem area, which was my neck and shoulders. He was mindful on what area needed more pressure and what didn't without me having to say much. Lastly, I appericate that he gave me some stretching tips to do at home. For the spa its self, it was very clean, peaceful, and welcoming. I appericate that it felt relaxing without the unnecessary "fluff". I just went in for a classic massage and Tawnya was amazing! They're doing a great job of making the spa very clean and Covid conscious. Unfortunately the showers and locker rooms are closed for the time being, but you can still sit in the lounge by the fireplace while waiting for your appointment or hydrating afterwards. The back is open for just 2 people at a time, which is also nice. I can't wait to go back when things are fully open! read more

Such a good massage doing some deep work in a few areas and just beautiful massage technique I loved the infused water in my robe in front of the fireplace beforehand as it was the gray, damp marine layer situation outside. Got a CBD couples massage here and the experience was overall ok. My boyfriend and I called to specifically reserve a couples massage and Float called us both individually to confirm which was nice. When we got there we found out we couldn't be in the same room due to COVID restrictions. We completely understand COVID restrictions but I would of appreciated the staff telling us ahead of time when we initially booked the reservation or when they called to confirm. The whole point was to have a couples massage and to find out after you check-in by the separate masseuse's that we were completely separate was disappointing, especially since the service is priced at a high premium. We splurged and got the CBD massage and nothing was really special about it. Not sure if they forgot the CBD since neither of our masseuses mentioned it or had CBD in the room. I would definitely confirm with the staff that you are getting the services you are paying for. Of course with COVID restrictions they can't provide full service which is completely understandable but they should be transparent and let you know certain services aren't available before they take $300 plus away from you. read more

My neck was extremely hurt last week and I headed here for a massage. The girl at the front desk was very knowledgeable and kind on the phone when scheduling my appointment. After speaking with the receptionist I decided to get a CBD deep tissue massage. The day of my massage went very smoothly. I was greeted at the door and escorted to the waiting area. The masseuse's name was Randy. She was very due diligent when it came to discussing what areas of my body she wanted to focus on. The massage could've been a little deeper but with the techniques that she used I was able to gain so much more mobility in my neck. Overall a great experience, a little pricey ($160 plus tip) but we are in Santa Barbara. read more

What a great experience at FLOAT for a signature massage. My masseuse, Tanya, was excellent. She worked on my trouble spots, and respected my request for a silent experience ( though we did discuss comfort level regarding pressure applied- which was appreciated). She seemed to know how to apply pressure in just the right areas to help with back and neck issues. I was glad she asked at the beginning about the scent I preferred so assume she was not given that information from the intake form I filled out on-line prior to my appointment. The experience was relaxing and soothing. I appreciate Tanya's dedication to my total wellbeing during my massage. The front desk attendant was professional though didn't check my gift card as gratuity was included in the service ( she asked if I wished to add gratuity- glad I knew it had been included). The changing room, though small, had all the amenities ( locker, robe, sandals, shower, towels, lotions and creams) to enhance the experience. I had the advertised "90 minute" Euphoria service. It lasted 75 minutes and had a little massage and a lot of brushing and scrubbing. The staff explained that the last 15 minutes was for them to get the room ready for the next customer and the owner would contact me to discuss my dissatisfaction. Of course, I never heard from her.
