My cousin had a surprise party here the other night. It is a great place to be. Lots of room and TV's that is great for football night. We had a room in the back with at least 30-40 people there. They had waiters for each table which was a great idea. The problem was that we ordered our appetizer and the waitress said she would hold our food order for a bit so we could enjoy the appetizer. Well... the food came out way before the appetizer. Don't get me wrong the food was hot and tasted great, but we really didn't want the appetizer after eating our meal. The guy that brought out the food said not to worry about it and he would take care of it... which to me meant he would cancel the appetizer but it still arrived and we were still charged. I understand we had a lot of people and I wasn't going to gripe about it. We ordered a French dip sandwich with loaded fries. Our son got the flat iron steak. Of all the buffalo chicken sandwiches you can get in the area, Flip's is the best for sure. The fajita nachos were really good, a tad pricey for what they are but that's just par for the course with most things these days. We asked for a mix of beef and chicken and they said that was fine, but didn't say it would be an up charge, which would've been nice to know when we asked. The Dirty Bird sandwich was very good, I'm glad I tried something new but also the Buffalo Chicken sandwich is hard to pass on. The onion rings were also very good, similar to how Sonic does theirs but even better. If it weren't for the buffalo chicken sandwich, I don't know that we'd ever really go here because we just don't eat at "American" restaurants much. But that sandwich is definitely 5 stars. Went here last night for the first time in probably ten years. The food was not what I remembered. The burgers were decent but the fries were either undercooked or over salted. One person in our party got the fish and chips, the fish wasn't done and the cole slaw was just gross. I ordered a top shelf margarita and it was so sweet I almost couldn't drink it. The service was good but was kind of confusing as to who was supposed to be taking care of you. We told our server about the fish and they took it off the ticket which was much appreciated. I have been eating at Flips since the re4staurant first opened it's doors in Grapevine. It was 2006, I believe. Prior to that, there was a Tony Roma's Ribs which I also ate at but was not too impressed. I became a fan of Flips immediately. I started with hamburgers and fries but since have broadened my selection to include grilled Shrimp, Quesadillas, and Fish and Chips. I also no longer go to the Grapevine location because I am not a fan of cigarette smell. I now frequent the Ft. Worth location. I would also like to praise several of the wait staff. Particularly, Anne and Cody. They have done a tremendous job in taking my order and bringing my food. I also would like to thank the hostess Mikey. Today, I took 17 family members there to celebrate my 71st birthday. Every family member got their order correct and very prompt. Great job Flips. My boyfriend and I like to frequent Flips, but had a particularly bad experience this evening. The service is usually pretty bad every time we go, but the burgers are tasty and the beer is cheap, so we tend to just deal with the rude servers. Be sure to order EVERYTHING you think you'll need throughout your meal when you order your meal- the servers will not be back to check in on you as you eat. It is an extremely regular occurrence that my partner and I will have to wait *at least* 10 minutes for sides of ranch- you'll likely be about 90% done with your meal before they actually bring you what you asked for. Again, we've just learned to ask for it when we order our food. They still never bring it out with our meal, but at least we can say we try. And forget about your server refilling your water/drink during your meal, they literally disappear completely after taking your order and you won't see them again until you flag them down for the check. Tonight, we arrived at around 9p. The music was BLASTING. We could barely hear each other over the table during our meal. I'd understand if it got a little loud and rowdy after 11p or so, but 9p seemed a little ridiculous. I ordered a burger, and half the patty was *extremely* pink. It looked and tasted raw, and that was enough for me to be done with my meal. We did manage to find our server after a good 5 minutes of searching for her, and let her know so that she could inform the kitchen. They're going to get someone sick! TLDR; burgers are the move here, everything else is overpriced and just bad quality. But make sure you check your burger meat to make sure it's cooked well enough! The ambience is usually okay, just don't go after 8p apparently. Wait staff/servers will be too busy sitting on top of tables with other staff scrolling on their phones to actually check in on you during your meal. Expect rude interactions with staff every time you go. Beers are cheap, burgers are usually good, and the seasoned fries are tasty, which are pretty much the only thing that keeps us coming back. read more

We really love Flips, they have a great patio area & two bars. It tends to be more rowdy at the bottom bar area. Both areas are great depending on what you're looking for. The top area has booths and is family friendly. Great place to watch whatever sport you enjoy. Service is always wonderful as is the food. My husband orders the club and fries almost every time. My favorites are the Turkey avocado and fries, cheese fries, bacon wrapped jalapeños or the hummus platter. They have a plethora of beers on tap and a full bar of liquor. Drinks are always awesome, we usually order ranch waters, margaritas or a mule. They do $6 pool by the hour during the week and have trivia on Tuesdays. Our favorite bartender is Justin, he's fun yet professional and efficient. We don't do shots often, but the breakfast shot from here is our fav, it comes with bacon-how could you not love it! I've been a loyal patron for over 20 years. I visited today with family from out of town and was late to the encounter. I located my party sat down and the waitress was delivering drinks and leaving the table as I sat. She returned a few minutes late with a menu and ignored my gesture to order a drink. I'm not necessarily bothered at this point, however I step up to the bar (ten feet from the table) and I see only one person on duty that was preoccupied on his phone. So I walk all the way to the wait station and stand offset to it and patiently wait until I am noticed. 3 minutes in... he looks up from his phone and asked how he can help. (at this point he acknowledges that he was buying a plane ticket and said that the bartender was going to be back shortly, and politely took my order) at this point the bartender comes back and asks if I was sitting at a table? Pointing to where my party is. I acknowledged, and she said that I can place my order with my server?!?! Well I didn't realize that after being ignored by an employee that protcol was to direct a paying customer to go back to the same individual. I still requested my beverage This visibly irked the bartender, her "stand in" (whom I realized later was the manager on duty) explained my plight and I was served. I offered to settle the bill at the bar for the inconvenience and resume my place at the table...to which the bartender stated that she would let our waitress know and apply it that way. To which I was fine with. I proceeded to the table. Upon leaving the restaurant after our meal which as always was fantasti, I requested to speak to management to discuss the undesirable attitude from the bartender... and lo and behold Mr plane ticket comes to hear about my complaint and blankly stares on. I finish my brief complaint acknowledging his portion of my exact issue and he offers no apology, no acknowledgment, no resolution. A simple "I understand your frustration, I will discuss this with my staff" or something making a very frequent customer feel like the patron that matters. Seriously? I wasn't asking for anything other than an acknowledgment of the mishandling. If this is acceptable behavior by your staff this will officially be my last dollar spent in your establishment. We've been coming to Flips Patio Grill in Grapevine for the past 15 years. We re from out of town, but visit 4 times a year. When we're here in Grapevine we usually have dinner and cocktails at least five times/stay at Flips. We estimate we spend about $2500/year for the past 15 years. We were here this past Tuesday, April 29 having drinks and dinner. When the bill came they charged us for "doubles" when we didn't order doubles. We questioned them about this and the manager came over and after telling her what happened she simply told us that since we drank them, we have to pay for them. We stood at the front for almost 20 minutes before my girlfriend flagged someone down and asked if we seat ourselves or wait to be seated. The fish tacos had NO flavor, just heat from whatever that glob of green stuff was that they threw on top. The fish was NOT seasoned. I decided to try a different dish; the nachos with beef and some other fixings. The taco beef was so salty I couldn't even finish the dish. The melted cheese was the best part. My girlfriend ordered the wings which were dry and flavorless. $11.50 for 8 dry flavorless wings. Absurd. Our waitress may have been overworked, but she never refilled my drink, said refilled my girlfriend's drink only once. The menu has pretty basic options, nothing complicated, stuff most restaurants are able to master with relative ease, so I am baffled that this place flopped. Been there a few times when people have brought really young children in the bar area. There is a main restaraunt, why can't they go there? So last year, I left a review about Flips Patio Grill. At the time, I was not very impressed with the overall service, food quality, or cost. So, I decided to give it another try this past Sunday. I went to watch a football game, which did not include the Dallas Cowboys. When I arrived, I was told that this game would only be on specific televisions. Needless to say, the only available seating was nowhere close to view the game. When I (and others) asked if they could change ONLY ONE of the televisions, we were told "No"! While I understand this is "Cowboy country", I was hoping they would be more accommodating. I was sorely wrong. So, once again, I left and went to Boomerjacks. The food is better, the service is better, the cost is much better and to top it all off, the manager (Bama) set up a specific area just so we could watch that game.
