First time eating Flippin' Pizza. Small location. Several tables with seating outside. Easy to read menu. Good selection of beer. Soda machine is Coke with lots of choices. The guy who took our order was really nice. While I was trying to decide what to put in my calzone, he was very patient with me. We got two small calzones. Trust me, small is more than enough for one person. Hubby got sausage & pepperoni. Wasn't a big fan of the sausage but really liked it. I went with red peppers, jalapeño & pineapple. Don't knock it till you try it. The guy who took our order & made it also brought them out to us. At first glance, they were flakey golden brown, sliced in thirds & served with a red sauce on the side. Mine was outstanding. The crust wasn't tough. Tasty. And crispy. Eh. We ordered door dash and were hoping for something more flavorful. It took longer than expected too and we could see the dasher waiting for the order for minutes longer than we intended. Pizza- It was kind of bland. My kid said it was kind of like his school cafeteria pizza but crunchier. I think maybe if we ordered something besides a plain cheese maybe we could have had a better dinner but the crust was the only good part of it. Was lacking sauce and flavor. this may just be at the La Costa location Cuz I haven't experienced this at the other locations . I love it when it's good but unfortunately it's not consistent with the quality. sometimes I get a dud. I usually get calzones and sometimes they are amazing and I am loving it but (and I do order twice a month, once a month or every other month at the latest) sometimes they are smaller in size than normal or have a very smalol almost non existent amount of the good sauce inside combined with not fully melted cheese inside (like what I got today). Before I give my review of Flippin, I wanted to say that usually when I would have pizza, I would not feel good in my stomach after. I would feel bloated and crappy. HOWEVER! Ever since I was introduced to Flippin Pizza La Costa in the summer of 2023, I've been hooked. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients. Fun fact, they also sell Pizza dough so you can make pizza at home! I never feel bloated or crappy when I eat pizza here. Everyone is so friendly and nice. I don't agree with the reviews that this place is not family friendly. This place is family friendly. I see families come here all the time, grabbing a cheese slice and watching some football. I have literally never received a correct order from this place. Ordered a Roulette Slice which is noted to NOT be a pepperoni or cheese slice and guess what was given? A pepperoni slice! I only order from here because my son loves their slices but for some reason their delivery service never gets it right. We stopped in because the new pizza joint across the street (Pitfire) had a 1 hour wait for to go pizzas! Thankfully, Flippin' quoted 20 minutes. Sure enough, our pizzas were ready in less than 20 minutes but...they forgot to cook our wings. So we waited another ~10 minutes while our pizzas sat around. Overall I thought the crust and toppings were good. The wings and salad were also good. But watching the chaos behind the counter didn't inspire a ton of confidence. read more

I like this place and their pizza and wings are pretty good. The service is definitely not up to par. My family - with young kids -- went in the evening of 7/28. The tables had not been wiped off so was not super clean. I sat down with my kids to enjoy our pizza. There were a number of young men sitting at the bar, either employees or friends of the employees and there were quite loud conversations with the "F" word used quite a lot. I ordered for delivery on a Tuesday night which was supposed to be approximately 60 min and took almost 2 hours! I live 5 minutes down the road. I called after an hour and 20 min to check on the delivery and the manager said they didn't have a driver and had to use Doordash which was taking a long time. On top of that, I got the wrong sauce for my knots (they had 2 hrs to get my order right!) and the pizza did not taste fresh out of the oven. For the price, I expect better service! I like the served-by-the-slice style. They offer combos with 1 slice + a drink or 2 slices + a drink. Their pizza is thin and crispy, which I enjoy. Many different flavors. They offer gluten free options that are made fresh when you order. They come in a 10 inch personal pans size. Bad. Unbelievably bad service! We ordered 1 pizza at for delivery at 515pm tonight and 1 hour and 40 minutes later there was no pizza! So we called and were treated rudley then put on hold for several minutes. No manager was willing to talk to us to offer a solution or even an apology. One guy we talked to wouldn't even tell us his name and said it was none of our business! So now It's been over 2 hours now and we still have no pizza and no calls back explaining it. We may never get our pizza. Great way to celebrate watching SDSU in the National Chamionships. Here's the thing, I love the pizza. The staff is amazing. My reasoning for giving three stars has more to do with their management. We walked in last night to pick up some dinner and it was 100 degrees inside. Honestly probably more because the ovens were going all day. My friend and I felt so horrible for the guys working. We asked if they were doing ok and they said yes and that they go into the walk in when they start to get too hot. I asked if they had AC and he said they've never had AC. NOT OKAY. Management and owners if you're reading this, a place is only as good as it treats its employees. Been here tons. I have 2 teen boys, so we eat pizza everywhere. Flippin' is consistently great. We love, love, love the crust - it's always nice and crunchy. You can hold their huge pieces in one hand and they won't bend. Love it! This is the BIG reason we come back, and back, and back. Their lunch meal deal is a good value and I got a free slice of pizza for Mother's Day. Thanks Flippin'! The employees are always super nice, acknowledging us when we come in and leave. They make short talk quite often too. I like that for a neighborhood pizza joint. It keeps me coming back. They've got what seems to be a simple business plan, not tons of choices, but what they DO have is top notch. . . . and the soda machine is awesome! ;) Thank you guys! read more

Tried it a couple times, not as good as the one in Vista (which is odd since you would think they use the same recipes??). They state on the website they close at 8pm, the last two times I have called have been at 6:30pm and 7pm and both times they have told me they aren't taking any more orders as they are closing early due to be short staffed. It takes one person to work the phones and register and one to make pizzas...how short staffed can you be? Update your hours or stay open, but to answer the phone to say you are closing early doesn't make a lot of sense. read more
