Great spot right on the beach. Thought it may have been table service, but didn't really see anyone so just ordered from the bar. The bartender was new, but she was holding it together and was friendly and def putting the effort! We had a delicious jalapeño margarita, followed by some super tasty food. Duplicate review for the bar specifically: Good vibes and great drinks. I'd definitely recommend the Dolphin special for a drink if you like Banana/Coconut rum beverages. Very casual and situated in a great location on Golf Blvd. Always a great spot to get rinsed. It's also never too busy either so you can always find a place to sit down with a decent sized group. It's also dog friendly, so if you're trying to bring pets, feel free. The food is priced reasonably for being on the beach and comes out very quick. There is never a big backlog here, unless it's a major holiday. We came here on a Sunday around lunch and there were tons of open tables available. Parking can be the only tricky thing because it's almost always taken up by the people visiting the beach. If you're looking to get lunch here, I'd get there sooner rather than later, as the beach parking is almost always filled up by the 11:30am mark (even earlier on a given Saturday) The bartender Ken is great and has made the most rum runners on that beach out of any other local. He's a true legend! Great if you're looking for to-go food for the beach (though you can't take drinks to-go) Overall, I'd definitely recommend. read more

Flippers Beach Bar is a small yet friendly hotel beachside outdoor restaurant and bar. Although mainly catering to The Dolphin Resort's clientele, its walk up from the beach access gives you a chance to shower that sand off and sit in a tiki like family-friendly bar. They offer shaded seating, or some tables are in sun as well. We eat there whether we stay at the Dolphin or ate just enjoying a beach day (public access parking is right next door to the resort). Average food price is about $15 for lunch entree with 1 side, with a small but decent menu with classics for everyone... turkey club, coconut fried shrimp, chicken Cesar salad, Cuban sandwich, etc. We've sampled a lot of the menu and everything is pretty good! The alcohol drinks are good too! You may except it to be in the light side being a beach side bar, but all our drinks were spot on... even the slushy blended ones like the Mango Dream, yum! with perfect amount of licor that I'm not left wanting. Food service is pretty fast (they have a different indoor bigger restaurant that food comes from, so we usually get our food in 20min). Bartender has been there for 20+yrs and pretty cool to have him remember so many regulars. We've been going for years, and now in August 2022 we are just as happy with the food service and drinks as we originally were. Absolutely a quintessential beach bar -- if you don't have expectations too high and can relax and enjoy the view, you'll have a great time. On my recent visit to the Dolphin Resort, I stopped in here after our conference each evening with other conference guests. A nice vibe and the weather was gorgeous. My only hang up is that the wine selection isn't that great -- but that's me being picky as a drinker, and nothing to do with the location itself. My star rating is based on that since I didn't order food here. They had live music a couple times when I was in town -- also a bonus! read more

Perfect spot on the beach and just steps from public parking! This is my second time coming and have not been disappointed. You order from the bar and they have a daily drink and food specials. Stayed at the Dolphin Inn Resort and I basically hung out at Flippers all weekend. They had great drinks, some were on the pricier side compared to other places such as rum runners and Strawberry Daqueris, but the food was great. Desperate for food on St. Pete Beach, and leaving most of our belongings on the beach for someone to guard, my friend and I found Flippers. After sitting at the bar and ordering, I pulled up Yelp, to see the dismal reviews from Yelpers past. I'm happy that I didn't go further for food and didn't see the reviews prior to ordering, because Flippers fit all of my needs! Flippers is your typical run down tiki bar. With a fine selection of fruity drinks and a surprisingly full menu, it meets all of the expectations one might have when looking around. I had the fish tacos, broiled, and my friend had the hot dog. The fish tacos were so much better than I expected them to be! Fresh pico, flavorful fish, I was happy with my choice. The fries were soggy and old, but I was so full after the tacos I didn't mind. The bartenders were quick and attentive, and had a great sense of humor. The one thing that I didn't really like about Flippers is that all of the food is served in styrofoam boxes. I get the convenience this serves for Guests who want to go back out to the beach to eat, but for the majority of Guests who eat at the tables or bars, it's really wasteful. read more

I wanted to like this place, as we were staying at the hotel. However, I just can't. 1) Food, except for the fries, were pretty tasteless and always served in styrofoam container. 2) The service was just awful--they had one person working the bar and a fairly crowded area of tables. She walked right be me for at least 10-15 minutes before pouring me a drink. 3) Drinks seemed over priced, even for Saint Petes--the "special" was 4.75 cans of bud light. Not the worst, but with so much competition, there are other great places to go within 300 feet of here. read more

Received very disrespectful service from the bar staff during my visit to this restaurant, there was a miscommunication on how The food was ordered and When I asked for it to be fixed both bartenders told me I was wrong. When I politely requested to speak to a manager the bartender told me it would take the manager up to 2 hours to come over to me to fix the issue. Very unprofessional service. read more

When the food came out, then we weren't told this was the case even though there was only one other person sitting at the restaurant. When asked why the food hadn't been walked over to us when we didn't hear her calling out once that food was done, then her answer was that it was not her job. She was surprisingly rude from the beginning and as we were eating pretty late at 8:30 and they were about to close soon she took the time to smoke a cigarette by the par. Also which is minor but we never got water that we asked for which made the hard especially difficult to eat. Usually do not leave reviews, but felt like this one deserved it. Also, the tiny drinks did not have a price listed on meny and were $10 each which is pretty minor but just feels like a rather deceitful business practice. We visited Flippers Beach Bar on May 8, 2015. We picked a table to sit at, and like a couple of idiots we just sat there thinking there was service. Nope. I had to go ask another patron if there was service. You have to order everything yourself from the bar, so we did, or I should say we tried. There were 2 bartenders. One was full on eating something and the other guy was completely enjoying the company of a bunch of dudes sitting at one corner of the bar and he ignored us - the only ones standing there who weren't his buddies. When the food came out, the chicken tenders were inedible. We asked the bartender to take it back and give us back the money on our card. He said he already closed our tab. We said give it back anyway, and get your manager. He never got his manager and we ended up just ditching everything and getting out of there. This place is an embarrassment to the Dolphin Hotel. I'm sure they are not under the same management - who knows. All I can say is there are so many good beach bars - just steer clear of this one. We stopped in this bar Sunday evening about 7:30 hoping to have a few drinks and dessert. As we walked in the live music was just ending. :-( We sat down at an empty table and waited. There were 3 or 4 other tables of dinners who were all finishing up. There was no one behind the bar and no servers in sight. After about 5 minutes or more, a server showed up with 2 "to go" boxes for the table across from us. Over the next 10 minutes the server passed by our table at least 6 times, never making eye contact. There were no signs stating their hours of operation and nothing on their website about them either. We had plenty of time to check this out. Finally, the server stood with his back to us, talking to the table next to us. So we left. It would have been nice if the server had told us that they were closing or he would be with us shortly but he just ignored us. Seems like a nice location but we won't be back.
