On the third day upon my arrival we visited International Marketplace with no intention of specific store to visit, not until we went up to the 2nd level & saw Flip Flops store which suddenly I have the urge of gifting myself something as I recently arrive the island. Then I asked my bandit if he can buy me one slippa. And he said a big YES! Cha-ching! Back then, I was crazy about flip flops! When I was in college I got a pair of more than 5 slippers which I ended giving it to my dorm mates after my graduation. Most of them still got a tag on it. I'm just fond of collecting them. Satisfies my soul every time I saw them after a long day at school. But now, I just owned one pair coz I want to live a minimalist life as possible which is until now a project that I still need to work out to. Anyhow... Last week, somebody took my more than two year old slipper which I bought here back then. I'm disappointed. Why would somebody do that? (insert sad face) FF... Flip Flop is packed with slippers that featured different brands like Birhenstock, Bearpaw, Cobian, Crocs, Flojos, Havaianas, Oofos, Olukai, Reef & Quiksilver. And Jesse is the most efficient & friendliest store owner I've ever known. He will surely be the happiest to serve you & is more informed of the products that he is selling. FF, I bought the slim glitter Havaianas on the rose gold color which is almost the same color that I purchased in here before but minus the turtle pin claw. And it was the cutest! Had a hard time choosing over the purple strap coz they both are the cute! And of course I am still the happiest with my purchased! Good customer service, plenty of foot wear to choose & a good location to check other stores nearby, for sure I will be glad to do business on this shop on the near future. This place looks like it has nice inventory. But the sign on their door says they're open 10am to 8pm. I came at 6:30pm and the sign said they were closed for lunch, would be back at 7:30. I came back at 7:35 and they were closed for the night, lights off, all locked up. Disappointing. read more

I had an incredible experience at this store! I was hesitant on going there due to the reviews, but the customer service was amazing! I needed new flip flops that were comfy and good in the water. Erica helped me find the perfect pair. She was patient, answered all my questions and so personable and kind. The price of the sandals were a bit high but I do hope they last me years to come. This is a great shop and wide selection of Flip Flops. Bought a pair of my favorites, "Oofos" and they had a good selection. Word of warning: You never know when or if they will be open! Gotta say this store has a great selection of flip flops. We came in here to get some Rainbow flip flops and they had a good selection. This post is about the store but more about the customer service. The guy behind the counter was very helpful and knowledgeable about all the different types. He told us what was good and bad about each brand. Coming in to the store we were already set on the rainbow flip flops but it was nice to hear the differences about the brands. Purchased the 2 pairs of Rainbow flip flops Hawaii addition with cash and left the store. Just as we were 3 stores away the salesperson came running out to tell me that I gave him an extra $20 bill by mistake. I thanked him for his honesty because we had just come from the beach and all the bills in my wallet were wet and stuck together because they were in the pocket of my swim trunks. Now a days it's not often you see an honest person give you back money if you overpaid by mistake. I'd like to give kudos to the salesperson and the store for hiring such a good and honest person. Zero customer service to "certain" classes, I guess. My mom and I walked into this cute shop with a ton of flip flops and other sandally type shoes on the evening of Weds 10/18, but was not greeted, (not even a hello after I initiated a "hi") by the clerk. Our intention was to make a purchase...and saw many things we liked. A few minutes later, a couple of another "class" walked in the shop as my mom and I browsed. The couple was immediately greeted with a friendly "hello" and "can I help you with anything?"....confused and discouraged after we both noticed the attention the other couple received, we walked out without making a purchase. Better training and more careful selection of staffing may be needed at this establishment. I expected better in this area where people from all walks of life come to visit. Super cool flip flop shoes. They have Reef, OluKai, and a few other good brands. It's a family business. They know their flip flops. The sales person physically showed me the good beach flip flops, leather upper flip flops, and good arch support flip flops. It's a small store, but it was nice to have someone pull the shoe off the rack and say this is waterproof, see the support in these shoes, etc... I've had sales people say they only sell good shoes. And no problem trying on every pair so you can find the perfect pair. read more

I like the selection here better than Island Sole across the street and I think their prices are slightly better. We saw some slippers with holes to drain the water, some orthotic-type rubber slippers, Havaiana, Reef, Fitflop, and soon to carry my fave Oofos. This place probably doesn't get much traffic because it's not on the restaurant floor and not on the ground floor...if IMP would validate for longer periods, I bet more people would shop after they eat...just a thought! read more

If you need Flip Flops, this is a great place for you! Really! How can you walk on the beautiful sand of Waikiki Beach with shoes on? You NEED to wade along the shore with bare feet and it's better to put your flip flops back on... rather than your socks... right? There used to be two Flip Flop Shops - one at Ala Moana and one on Kalakaua Avenue - but they both have closed. Thank goodness for this store on the 2nd level of International Market Place! This new shop has validated parking, is clean, bright, and has every style, color, and brand that you can imagine! The owner, Jesse (Size 8), will gladly assist you! This store is located on the 2nd level at the International Marketplace Mall near Shoe Palace. I bought several pairs here during my stay. It is flip flop, locally known as slippers, galore. Expect premium brands including Reef, Rainbows and Olukai (Hawaiian brand). There's great selection and items that are exclusive to Hawaii (e.g. Hawaiian Rainbows). On one of the two days I shopped here, I met the owner of the store. It's a mom and pop store and he is very knowledgeable and passionate about flip flops. He will tell you more than what you would need to know about a pair of rubber and soles. Great customer service! Tip: 1. 1Save your receipts and take it to the customer service desk. The mall runs shopping promotions from time to time. This time I got a $20 gift certificate to Cindy's Lei Shop in Honolulu for spending over $100+ at the mall. It does not necessarily need to be on the same day. 2. Before or after you visit the store, check out the banyan tree treehouse (yes a real treehouse on top of the giant banyan tree). 3. Look for the "sale" signs hung on the racks. They don't specify the % of the sale so you would need to ask, but it's a nice touch as many of these premium flip flops don't go on sale often. read more

Saw from the reviews that this store is often closed with no explanation. Happened to me - lights on, "Open" sign, but the doors were locked. Luckily the guy running the store comes right as I'm about to leave and opens the door for me and some others waiting to go in. It seems there's a decent chance that the store will be closed when you get there, according to lots of the reviews and my own experience. I ended up able to go in and the selection was great, and on top of that the guy working the store was actually very nice and asked if I needed help multiple times. I needed a new pair of good quality flip flops and found this shop as I browsed the International Market Place directory. Jesse was very helpful and knowledgeable about the various flip flop brands and styles. He suggested we try the OluKai brand. My husband and I bought the lifeguard approved OluKai flip flops, which were comfy with good support and traction for flip flops. They were worth the splurge as we used them during the rest of our vacation and will continue to use them over and over again. We even returned to get my sister-in-law a pair too. Amazing customer service thanks to Jesse! I was looking for Olukai sandals for my sister and he was so helpful and patient. He was very approachable and had just a great personality all around. There's a good variety of slippers here for both men and women. I saw some here that you can't find on the mainland. Jesse knew his products very well and helped me find two great comfortable pairs. Not all flip flops are created equal as we have found once we walked into this shop you can find so many quality flip flops that feel like you are walking on clouds. We were greeted by an amazing shop keeper. After I yelp and found this place I noticed many reviews say to ask for Jessie. So I asked this nice Canadian lady if she was Jessie. Funny thing is that she said she was Jessie mom. Jessie works 7 days a week and 12hours and needed a break. Jessie mom was just as amazing and knew everything about each flip flop. She was very attentive and so pleasant to talk to. I recommend going there if you want a quality flip flop at a great price from a small shop that the owners know what they are doing. If you purchase from here, the retailer will not mention their return policy to you. It will be listed on their receipt at the bottom after you make a purchase. If you wear the item, and you find a flaw, there's nothing to be done about it. No returns or exchanges or store credit. Because the owner refuses to send merchandise back to the original manufacturer after they have been worn. It is better to go to the original manufacture retail website for help as they will have a better policy for customers of their products. If you purchase an item that does not have correct stitching placement on it, this shop will deem it as a personal problem and will not honor any return or store credit or exchange. Even if the stitching placement is digging into the flesh and hurting you. If you have worn the item, there is nothing the owner of Flip Flop Shops can do to help you. They will just eat your money. Even though its their job to do quality control. Why would you sell defective products and not take care of it. However if you go to the sandal brand's website directly, you can try reaching out to their customer service because they are more willing to help you and much more likely to help you sort out the matter and find a resolution. If you have a problem with the sandals making farting noises when you walk. There's nothing the store can do for you if it's been worn. I wouldn't have known the sandals would make that noise unless I've been wearing them... so it doesn't make any sense why there policy can't honor an exchange. There was nothing they can do and it's a bummer because I paid $50 for a pair of walking whoopee cushions that cause raw sore spots on the sides of my feet below near my toes. I tried them on for size in the store, they fit. The store isn't big enough to walk and stroll to test how they are on your feet when walking. These problems are things I would only have known if I had worn then and tried them out. So I feel like I paid for something I didn't sign up for. It's a total scam. When I was taking business law, if you pay for a product and it does something unexpected that wasn't advertised, the buyer has a right to their money back. Anyway, definitely try to reach out to the sandal brand's manufacturer website to get customer service to help. Last resort is to contact your bank and dispute the charge. If you have a good bank, they will look out for you. Because this Flip Flop Shop sure won't help you even if you have valid reasons. read more

Do not shop here!! Total rip off! We bought 2 pairs of flip flops and one of them was larger than the other by a full size even though they were marked the same. My 9 year old didn't notice after wearing them for 1 day. We went to try to exchange 1 side and Jesse the franchisee owner manager would not help at all. Silly us. We packed our carry-on bags with one pair each of flip flops...and darn it, we didn't bring our favorite Olukai brand (of which we both own many styles). Needless to say we were stoked when we searched Yelp and found the Flip Flop Shop at International Market Place, as we always visited the former location near the Police Station on Kalakaua in the past. Jesse has a great selection of favorite brands and my guy and I enjoyed talking story with him while unhurriedly trying on many styles for fit and comfort. What a wonderful shop! Lots of different brands and styles of sandals, but most importantly, great customer service. I'm sorry to say I didn't ask the gentleman who helped me for his name, but he was fantastic. He was extremely knowledgeable about his inventory, very friendly, and so patient with an indecisive shopper like myself.
