I have been renting a climate-controlled unit for almost four years -- but last week I went to the…read moreunit to find MOLD on my furniture and my boxes were sagging! It's awful and the entire building area smells musty! If you have things stored there, check on them right away! I can only imagine how awful it could have been if I hadn't gone in that day. I have always been very pleased with the customer service by the young woman in the office. She is personable and very responsive -- she is not the problem. When I found the mold, I called and left a message and was later told by the on sight person that her manager had approved two canisters of Damp Aid. Really? That's it? Then I was told that, unless I purchased their insurance (which I did not), that my homeowners insurance would have to cover the damage. When I personally went to the office the next day, I was told that the temperature in the building had been changed by 10 degrees and that was when the issues began. The owner is responsible! Beyond the actual price of items that have been damaged, there has been damage to photos and other keepsakes that simply had to be trashed. And that's in addition to all the frustration and additional work. I will never again recommend this storage facility.

The intention turned into almost 3 years. I mention this time for a reason. This week I traveled to PA from NYC alone, to empty her unit and meet a shipping company at the unit to ship her belongings to OR. I was so worried about what I would find after so much time. Well, I found an immaculate place, in a peaceful area of the city. All of her belongings were in perfect condition. There was no evidence of any bugs or rodents and even more surprisingly, the amount of dust was minimal! The storage place is so very CLEAN. I brought a bandana with me to cover my face and didn't even have to use it! (I'm so very allergic to dust). What an amazing place Becky and her husband own. Thank you Becky for going ABOVE and BEYOND with your customer service to help me and my daughter finally feel at peace with first having her belongings completely safe after all these years and helping us w any questions along the way with retrieving them. I rented a climate controlled CLEAN unit in April 2018 to store furniture, electronics, kitchen appliances, clothing & other personal belongings for my father. As of early December the unit was still clean. On Jan 16, 2019. I visited the unit again to store additional items. The entire contents of the unit were covered in cement dust and a heavy musty smell was present upon opening the unit door. I reported this to the clerk and was told the HVAC system was accidently kept on while their cement floor was being repaired and the dust entered the climate controlled units. I asked to speak with the manager and was refused contact info for him. Instead I was asked to send an e-mail to the facility and the clerk I was speaking with would forward my complaint to the manager for me. I did that and asked for some form of compensation for the cleanup I will have to do because if their neglect. About 2 weeks later this same clerk told me that they are not responsible for any damages to contents or the condition of the unit whether it's their fault or not nor will they give me compensation of any kind. I insisted on speaking to the manager personally and was told that is impossible. What kind of business refuses communication with a manager?? This is most upsetting. I vacated the unit by the end of February. Now I found out that the "clerk" I have been talking with about the whole situation is indeed the "facility manager". Had I read the business card I would have known it since her name is on the card. Very poor ethical business standards and complete disregard for the property of the tenents supporting this business. I will warn anyone who uses this facility to read the fine print on the back of your contract and check your belongings regularly. You will NOT be notified of any negligence or damage to your contents when something like this happens. Better yet - do not rent space here.
