If you don't take a cart or rent a little dolly, you will be in for great exercise as there are plenty of hills to go up and down as you trek through the course. There is a water station that has reverse osmosis water near the check-in station. The driving range has a good amount of stations. Cons: parking here can get crowded very quickly. I came here on a Sunday afternoon and had to park in the dirt patch next to the parking lot as it was way too full. Not necessarily a huge con, but a lot of other golfers brought their dogs with them on the course which is fine but could be a hazard for other people driving their golf carts. Nothing too crazy here. Verdict: you're very challenging course, but this course is very fun. I spent around $80 to play here which is a bit on the expensive side but could be worth it if you get Sunset hours or maybe during a different season. I'd recommend other people to come here if they want to challenge themselves at golf.

Soft but firm, not like the old hard mats that felt like you were hitting off concrete and damaging your clubs. 5. Island Greens - so nice! These targets are priceless and make the range attractive. 6. Two putting greens - 1 is synthetic - take your pick. 7. A sand bunker practice area with real sand, not dirt! 8. Lighted at night to accommodate anyone's schedule. 9. A Golf Mart is on the premises, how convenient. You can demo clubs on a real range and not a simulator. Plus great customer service! 10. Golf Instruction - Awesome! Take your pick, many options to choose from. In closing, the Carlsbad Golf Center is AWESOME! I spent the past couple weeks talking about how incredible the greens are as the last time I played (about a year ago) they were so impressive. Most of every green was seed or sand with the only small patches of grass causing the ball to go random directions. If the course is recovering from some kind of event, I can understand that. But there was no indication of this and no discounted greens fees. Not sure what happened here but I won't be returning any time soon as even at the twilight rate, $90 is not worth putting on this mess. Hope that they can bring the greens back to what they once were but this definitely left a very sour taste in my mouth overall. Only thing that gives them a couple stars is that the service was very kind as always and the rest of their experience (clubhouse, driving range, etc.) is still exceptional.

Even when we sadly got rained in, Megan and Maddy went above and beyond to create the most beautiful, graceful indoor setup. We completely forgot about the weather because everything inside was so stunning. The food was incredible, the communication was seamless, and every detail felt next level. On top of that, we had to make some last-minute modifications due to my dad's health, which understandably brought a lot of stress and big emotions. This was our first time staying at Pala Mesa Golf Resort, and overall it was a pleasant experience…read more The room was very beautiful, extremely clean, and the king-size bed was large and comfortable. Check-in was easy, and the staff was very nice and welcoming. There were a couple of minor issues that affected our stay. The sliding glass door is a bit dated and had a gap that allowed cold air and outside noise into the room. It felt like sleeping with a window open, and my face and ears became noticeably cold. I was thankful I had packed a thermal and jogging suit, which helped keep me warm. I was eventually able to find a temporary solution by placing a pillow against the door and pushing the desk forward to help block the draft. Parking was also a bit challenging on the second night. The first night went perfectly, as the front desk gave clear directions and we were able to park at Building F1 by the stairs. After returning from a concert around 1:00 a.m. the second night, parking F1 was full, and I had to park farther away between Buildings F3 and F4. Walking back late at night in the cold felt uncomfortable and scary. I did mention the sliding glass door issue to the front desk, but there were no other king-size suites available. Despite these small challenges, the room itself was lovely and the staff was friendly and helpful.
