Very knowledgeable shop staff and willing to share critical info to improve your fishing like fly selection and where to fish! Beyond the obvious. They have made my day on the water more than once. This is what made me just book a guided trip with them. Pumped to go and learn how to improve my game!

Clever neon sign outside business.

I didn't even walk into the store. But the signs, bulletin board outside, Platte map and just the name is worthy of a lookey loo and thanks for the intro to the Deckers area. On the way to see fall colors. This is a great place to stop, get an ice cream next door, chill on the bench outside Flies and Lies and marvel at the motorcycles on a busy fall colors weekend.

First fly fishing trip. Rob was a fantastic guide. Started with tackle set up, knots, etc. Got to the water and technique was demonstrated. Perfect amount of critique and guidance followed all day. Landed 8 fish and lost a couple. Could not have asked for a better first day! Highly recommend!!!

Where does one begin on describing this place and the people?…read more I think it's fair to say Minturn got me hooked on fly fishing. A few co-workers were attempting to teach me to fly fish and get me involved in a company team builder/tournament. I was very apprehensive as I'm not the most patient person and I'm easily frustrated. We had a wonderful opportunity lined up to go on a guided trip and spent a full day fishing near Winter Park. This is where I met, Tom, Tyler and Floyd. I was paired up with Tom and he did a great job teaching me the basics and continually giving me tips to improve on what I was already doing which helped a tremendous amount with my casting. Tyler's strong feedback and his ability to walk me through how to set a fish and net it sold me on how enjoyable fly fishing can be and thus I became hooked. Tom was fantastic at helping me over come my fears of falling in the water and assisted with everything, including helping me untangle line, pull it out of trees (hey it happens) he made the day very enjoyable by assisting with things that could easily frustrate my impatient side. However, after a full day of a guided trip I decided to sign up for the work tournament and needed help learning everything before casting. I figured my Dad would enjoy trying out fly fishing so I signed us both up for the intro to fly fishing class. We met at the store for a preview of the store and to make sure we had all the gear necessary before heading towards Deckers. Here we learned the necessary knots for tying on the leader, tippet and flies. What an awesome time! I caught a small trout on my 3rd cast of the day and yet again felt the rush of enjoyment! Today my guide was Chelsey, Jonathan and Neal were also on the river with us and Chelsey helped me continue to work on my casting, set up my own fly line and rig and answered numerous questions. I can't wait for my next trip with Minturn and their awesome guides!

As an east coast resident, words cannot convey how cool this place is. I literally could stop right…read morethere and my review would be over, but Yelp likes whole essays about shtuff. I've been to a lot of places around the globe. More than most people my age could ever hope for, but this place is new to me. In my one visit to this store I rode a Ferris wheel, played bowling, and browsed the largest arsenal of firearms I've ever seen. That alone made my day, but I'm not done yet. This place has more bikes and skateboards than Alpine Ski Shop. Their camping section is larger than Dick's and Cabela's combined. The clothing department is chock full of everything that one would want to pull over their skin. I haven't even mentioned that their prices are average to cheap! Heck, even the employees are kind and helpful! There's literally nothing I can complain about, because I've never experienced anything that compares to Scheels. I literally cried when I walked into this place, because it fulfilled everything my hopes and dreams could possibly muster. I love being critical to mega corporations, and I thought they might have a fascist CEO or something, but that's where it really gets crazy. Scheels is 100% employee owned, meaning DEMOCRACY BABY!!! I barely edited this review, so if you see something weird, I honestly don't care. Moral of the story is that I'm flabbergasted beyond belief.

OMG they have everything. If you need anything sports…read morerelated or not, checkout Scheels. We are visiting from New Mexico and stopped by Scheels. Our son went to one in Pittsburgh and said it was a megastore. He was not kidding. Any sport related product you may need, they have it. Equipment clothes shoes accessories. Everything. They have products at the higher end as well as more midrange. Prices are appropriate. We talked to several staff in different areas and all were extremely helpful. Don't forgot check out the arcade, cafe, candy shop, bowling alley, shooting gallery, aquarium and Farris wheel. It's a family adventure
