First time here and decided to try it out because of the convenient location. We liked the controlled entrance-$10 reservation that was easy to obtain same day. Once we arrived at the shore, it was easy access to the water. Not much shade so be prepared. We didn't try the trail because it was a very hot day without any trees along the trail-they should work on that. There were signs around the shore stating "toxic algae" but we weren't too worried because people were there (?). Our son reported itchiness once we got home-he has many environmental allergies, the other son was fine even though he fell in the water. Just be aware. The area was quite big with lots of room to paddle board in peace. Overall, a decent experience and we might return once the toxic algae situation is less of a concern. read more
