Worst place in all of Colorado to go fish. I catch fish here don't get me wrong, one of my biggest bass was caught here, but all of my tiny fish are caught here. Compared to all other bodies of water I fish locally(mainly from kayak) this is by far the worst.
Unless you have some way to get on the water you will not have access to the west side of the lake. It's gated off. I was there today with a group, we were paddling the eastern shoreline, a girl I was with got off her paddle board about 100-200 feet (maybe more) from the eastern shoreline, and the water barely went above her knees. I was shocked. I had to come write a review. A review I have been wanting to write for years. That was the last straw for me.
Taking shore fisherman's money daily. This will make any shore fisherman's life miserable, tons of algae everywhere.. and if you don't want to catch muck every cast guess where you will be. Right where all the pressure is, where every shore fisher that walks through those gates is forced to fish because it's the only place you can keep you lure clean. Probably after you tried to walk around to find a "better spot" but had to walk back after you it gets worse the farther you go east.
For being artificial only, this water is absolutely disgusting(makes no sense). You will be reeling in muck every cast. In the southeastern cove there is so much algae everywhere. Literally in the smack dab middle of the cove. It engulfs everything. I was pulling in algae every cast tossing top water and and weedless rigs, soft plastics, you name it. I could barely paddle through it.
I come here because it is so close to home, but it's not worth it honestly. At most I will see one fish caught by someone in hours of being out there, most of the time I will see none caught. I'm talking about on the whole lake. In hours of being there. Sometimes I get lucky and don't get skunked.
It's almost like they don't even care for it and the potential it has to be a great fishery again. Honestly it reflects in the fishing report you read before you go and the water quality . It's slow and it is always slow and when I say slow.. you won't be seeing people catching fish. If you do.. it's one person literally. I have never seen Quincy have a season where the bite is hot. That should tell you something. Do not come here save your day and money and time, and sanity. If you must go local go to Aurora or nasty cherry creek you will catch something there . Maybe they will make the necessary changes to deserve the revenue. Your welcome read more
