GLEN ISLE IS THE MOST AMAZING PLACE! I just got married there and had a DIY wedding. Mary Ruth and Greg are the most hospitable, accommodating, and wonderful hosts we could imagine. For a wedding of 40 people, they include tables, chairs, portapotties, weather options, table cloths, set up, garbage cans, bags, string lights, set up a stage, and all for the most reasonable price! we had the ceremony up at the point and it was absolutely breathtaking. All of my family and friends could stay there for very reasonable price. I have been planning with Mary Ruth for well over a year, and she was so consistent with working with us every step of the way. If you want to get married and are on a budget with a small wedding, GO HERE! She even let us smoke a pig by the river! brought down propane stoves so we could have smores where we chose! You can feel the magic of this place, and we will be returning (all 35 of us) every year for game competitions and some glen isle relaxation. Many people told me it was the best wedding they have ever been to! We had trivia in the Kiva(indoor rec room) and if it had rained, they would have moved our entire wedding inside. Mary Ruth and Greg seriously have a heart of gold, and they made this all possible. Perfect weather, perfect place, perfect weekend. Our family rented several of the cabins for the weekend my son got married. Everyone enjoyed our stay so much. Family members out of town got the full Colorado experience. The staff were accommodating to our every need and the cabins were stocked with electric blankets for the beds, firewood and so many things needed to make our stay memorable. DH, a visitor when he was a tyke, kept wandering around, showing me the amazing Native American artifacts and the Victorian fish tank: "I can't believed it's all still here!" Glen Isle was the PERFECT getaway for my husband and I! We were far enough from civilization to feel like it was an escape. But close enough to go into town for groceries, or travel to Denver for some fun on the weekend. PERFECT! The cabin was spacious, and the views were peaceful. The owners, Mary Ruth and Greg, really respect the history of this place and it's surroundings. It's very apparent that their hearts and souls are in Glen Isle and they were the most welcoming hosts. They mix a little modern in with their renovations, but keep the rustic charm that Glen Isle has offered for over 100 years now. We went on multiple hikes around the property, which is right next door to National Forest, and saw beautiful sites. Tons of trees, landscape views, creeks that were slightly frozen. We did have to adjust a little to the quiet and lack of TV/WiFi, but it was worth it. We are so used to city noises and a bunch of people being everywhere all the time. Having some peace and quiet was needed. We talked, wrote, started a puzzle, and made a lot of cozy fires in the fireplace. And last but not least, The Lodge! The lodge is full of historical artifacts and collectibles from previous owners, that are so interesting and old, I could spend all day in there! If you love history, outdoors, quaint towns, quiet, exploring, and good people; Glen Isle is worth a stay :) read more

Sooooo beautiful and peaceful!!! My husband and I were visiting from Dallas, TX and originally found them on the HipCamp app. We were originally gonna camp but saw the weather wasn't going to be very condusive. Greg and Mary Ruth were very accommodating and were able to switch our camping reservation to a cabin reservation and even offered us a second night for half the price. The cabin was very cozy and the king bed and propane heater was great, we slept like babies. We stayed in he Columbine cabin and our porch faced the little river that runs through the property. It was so peaceful. We werent able to see much of any other amenities due to Covid restrictions but thats ok. We came for the scenery, seclusion and time spent together. Sorry if our dog barked and scared away the horses! We don't se emany of those in Dallas. Thank you guys for a great stay! We will be back read more

As a child, I had many, many fond memories of vacations to Glen Isle with my family. It is a place that always held a special spot in my heart. When Glen Isle closed years ago and the resort remained empty and quiet, I reluctantly began to accept that the personal wonder of this place would just have to live on in my memories and it would not be an experience I would be able to physical share. But MaryRuth and Greg have done something incredible here. They have truly brought Glen Isle back to life. They have somehow pulled off the delicate task of updating the cabins with modern comforts and decor while preserving the nostalgia and the spirit of the place. Glen-View and Evergreen are still the recognizable cabins from my childhood but it is clear how much love and energy MaryRuth and Greg put into restoring these building. Since Glen Isle has reopened, my wife, myself, and a group of our friends have started our own yearly tradition of coming up to the cabins for a weekend full of good meals, good laughs, and good company. We just finished our second visit and we are already looking forward to next years visit. I am so happy to be able to share a place that meant so much to me with those close to me. What MaryRuth and Greg have accomplished with Glen Isle really speaks to the type of people they are. The restoration of the resort has clearly been a labor of love. Their approach to customer service is genuine and kind. They truly want their visitors to have the best possible experience. I am incredibly grateful for what they have done to the place. We had such a great weekend with MaryRuth Vincent and Greg Vincent at Glen Isle Resort in Bailey Co. If you want a great long weekend or even more you need to visit. The views are amazing and the history goes back into the late 1800's and is site to see. They have done such an excellent job renovating this resort and keeping the history alive! We stayed in Evergreen and it was a great 2 bedroom 1 bath cabin with full kitchen and and great back patio with Hot tub! We can't wait to go back and visit again it was such a beautiful place!! read more

We had such a wonderful time in the Evergreen cabin! Right next to the horses so my boys loved that. Short walk to the playground. Lots of paths to choose for hikes. This cabin also has twoTVs, DirectTV and WiFi, so another win for my youngsters. The beds are super comfy-excellent nights of sleep. read more

The new owners have done a phenomenal job revamping the cabins at Glen Isle! The beds were amazingly comfortable, the decor and accommodations are quaint yet modernized. The look and smell of pine when you walk in brings you back to another time when life was restful and relaxing! In the Evergreen cabin, we enjoyed a beautiful deck by the river along with a cozy sunroom, updated kitchen and bathroom, and comfy living room with fireplace. Glen Isle is one of my favorite places. The history is preserved and respected, the beds are comfortable, the bathrooms and kitchens are nice and clean. My family loves to play Ping Pong in the Rec room and my husband and I love to enjoy a cup of coffee on the porch if the cabin. The Lodge is like museum, it's fascinating. The owners are "Salt of the earth" people- wonderful. read more

This is our second year joining a friend who goes every year since his childhood. Glen Isle is on a beautiful property next to a river in the gorgeous mountains. It's very peaceful, and we were able to have a big group and campfire without disturbing anyone else. The cabins are really clean and updated, and everything feels cozy and homey. The owners are great and really accommodating. I left my glasses behind accidentally and they're sending them back to me, no problem! read more

Best girls trip ever! So relaxing, very interesting history and Mary Ruth, Greg and their staff that feels more like family are MORE than accommodating! Very personable and oozing hospitality! My dog loved the open space and there was even a sweet dog next door to play with. We attended a party at Glen Isle Resort and were able to tour a few of the cabins and the lodge. It is a true throw-back to camping that your parents did! The cabins are clean, cozy, and some have kitchens. Glen Isle is such a treasure trove of history with all of the collecting that previous owners did. Mary Ruth and Greg have really worked hard to make a perfect mountain retreat, close to hiking, fishing, etc. We would recommend it to anyone coming to the area!! read more

We heard that a resort in Colorado called Glen Isle had new owners and had reopened! We were so excited that we immediately called and we were lucky enough to find that they had a few cabins open. We booked and went for a few days! Absolutely beautiful!!! Talked with the new owners, what wonderful people. They plan to restore this to its wonderful charm and beauty!! We hiked and they have a place called The Point which is absolutely breathtaking!! The cabin we stayed in was beautiful brand new bedding and just beautiful. I cannot say this enough. A absolute must see, they are currently working on more cabins and renovating the lodge and we will be back to see this amazing resort being brought back to life!! Our family (eight adults, two children) stayed at Glen Isle for four days this spring in two adjacent cabins. I am suprised by the negative review, because despite the lack of luxury, we all very much enjoyed the rustic charm of the place. The amenities were basic, but we were supplied with everything we needed - firewood, kitchen equipment, clean linens/towels, etc. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend Glen Isle to friends looking for a cabin/basic lodgings in the Bailey area. Um, No. I can't recommend this place to anybody. I mean I stayed there with about 12 of some of the nicest people that I had ever just met and had a great time because of the company, but that was in spite of the accomodations. I think 20 years ago it may have been called quaint but it has slipped beyond that. If for some unthinkable reason you decide to stay there and there is snow on the road to your cabin, avoid at all costs the lower side of the road. It took took five of us and a Nissan 4-wheel drive to extract a friend's four-wheel drive from the deep ditch on the side of the road. Take extra clothes or sleeping bags if it's cold outside there too because the antiquated furnace couldn't keep up with the single digit temps at night. read more

I wanted a little get away and heard that Glen Isle Resort was being renovated by new owners. I called to see if they were open and they did have two or three open. I drove up for a weekend and was lucky enough to get the cabin Glen View a two story lovely cabin that has totally had a make over. The mattress I slept on was absolutely amazing! If the other cabins come out like this one, every one is in for a treat that visits Glen Isle. The lodge is like a museum...they mentioned it will be renovated as well but kept like it was in the early 1900's. It's like going back in time. I can't say enough about this little get away gem. read more

What a magical stay in the mountains. The cabins are charming with big comfy pine beds and a fireplace with plenty of wood. The bathroom is freshly tiled and washed in lots of natural light. Off of our front porch, the river, swift and clean and makes for a primo spot to have coffee or breakfast every day. We explored the property, visiting the horses and star-gazing on a clear night. There is a "Natural Grocers" in nearby Conifer if you opted for a cabin with a kitchen. There are, of course, a few restaurants in town, but we found it hard to leave the comforts of the resort. The main lodge seems plucked from a storybook and it's filled with treasures and antiques. Animal mounts and photos of the resort in the 1800's line the lobby walls. Glass cases and shelves of Native American artifacts fill the dining room where they host events and catered parties. This place...what an amazing welcome to Colorado. We cannot wait to come back to see the progress and make ourselves at home again. read more

Sorry, can't give a good review at all here. The place was a dump. Smelled like sewage leaking. Rustic I can do. Disgusting, I cannot. The grass was knee high, the steps down to the campfire, (in the middle of knee high grass, but I digress) were about to fall through. Bats were living in the attic, so they were all over the back "deck" flying in an out. The bedrooms were clean I will give it that. However they left about 1/4" of dish soap and hand soap... the pans should have gone in the garbage yrs ago, glad we brought our own. Oh, and the help was about as apathetic as I have come across in a long time. Sorry folks, it looks as though you want to get rid of your business, and have given up caring. It shows. read more

If you are looking to spend time in a luxurious cabin, then this is not the place for you. However, if you are looking for a rustic, quaint cabin in the woods that reminds you of visiting your grandmother's house, then Glen Isle is the perfect place. My husband and I stayed in Rainbow's End this past weekend and had such a wonderful time. It was great to get out of the fast-paced city. The furniture and appliances are probably from the 1960's -1970's, but we found it to be comfortable, warm, and inviting. The views from the cabin are absolutely breathtaking and you can clearly hear the river running over the rocks. There are only two negative comments we can make about our cabin, first, the beds were really uncomfortable and there was some traffic noise coming from I-285. We remedied the bed problem by pushing the two couches in the living room together and putting our bedding on that. This turned out to be wonderful because we slept in front of the fireplace. The traffic noise was slightly covered up by the river and you could barely hear it if the windows were closed. My husband and I, along with our two dogs, had a fantastic and peaceful time. We all look forward to our next visit. read more

These are plain cabins with fireplaces, stove, frig and bath in a beautiful setting. There are no TV's or WiFi. The lovely, quiet setting with trails, high pines and bubbling Platte River is a great place for natural beauty, fresh air and enjoying nature. This is not high end with lots of frills. It is a place with a fascinating history and I have enjoyed coming here for many years as a retreat to nature. read more

My family has been going to Glen Isle for 42 years. Some of our happiest family memories were formed in Evergreen. We are sorry they are not renting the cabins at this time and hope they reopen soon. I have been going to Glen Isle Resort for over 26 years. We go practically every weekend during season with a couple of extended stays. This place is paradise to me. If you are addicted to television or swimming pools then stay home. One cabin has a TV. Most cabins have fireplaces and fully equipped kitchens. The gift shop in the lodge is one of the best I have ever been to. So much variety at very low prices. Barbara Tripp is a saint. It is worth a trip there just to visit with her. She is a treasure to behold...89 years young. She inherited the place from her grandparents spending most of her life there. She will keep you entertained for hours with her wonderful stories of times gone by. Glen Isle sits right on the Platte River with over a mile of river to fish in. There are horse shoes, pool, table tennis, many board games, hobby horse to ride, playground with a merry go round, swing set and sliding board. The air is the freshest I have ever breathed in...ah, that alpine air. At night, the sky is full of stars as bright as you have ever seen. Yes, Glen Isle is rustic and doesn't offer the activities it did 20 years ago. Meals are no longer served. I'm just happy the place is still open. It stays the same. It is the last resort of it's kind...a step back in time. I love going there. read more
