Came to North Fork for a winter fly trip the day after Christmas. Jeff was awesome with communication ahead of the trip and what to expect (he undersold the trip to be honest). There were four of us fishing and they provided two guides which was perfect as we had someone in our group who had never fly fished before and he was able to get more 1:1 instruction from guide Ryan. The more experienced anglers went with Joe, both guides were incredible and worked their butts off to get us on fish. We booked four hours and it was nonstop action from start to finish. I personally landed somewhere around 30 fish with some of them being serious toads, I broke my personal best several times during the day. The guides were willing to be as hands on or hands off as we wanted and provided tons of great insight and knowledge to use on future DIY trips. Having fished all over the country this was honestly the best four hours I've ever spent on the water and can't wait to make an annual trip out of it. I'm sure these guys would take care of you on a summer trip but if you get a chance to do a winter trip don't sleep on it!! read more

A fantastic, relaxing getaway tucked into a little valley not too far from Denver. We stayed with a group in the Stone House (aka Stonehenge House): a large, eclectic, beautiful house with I believe 7 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. Very comfortable beds, great water pressure in the shower. Wonderfully serene right by the river, which you can fish in (catch & release) - they are an Orvis fishing facility and have very attentive guides to help catch some sizeable fish! They also have a stocked fishing pond you can fish in & keep what you catch. There's a hiking trail right outside (watch for tics! They're bad this year) and the lodge has dinner covered, which is a good thing because there's no cell service to call for a pizza or Chinese delivery... read more

Family run business since 1985 and they treat you like part of their family from start to finish. We chose rooms in the lodge that were very comfortable, clean and a view of the South Platte river. Food was terrific and service was first class. Day long activities including horse trail rides, skeet shooting and a stocked pond for easy fishing. I am thrilled to be the first to review the wonderful North Fork Ranch (NFR). My husband and I found NFR in 2004 when our daughter was 2 years old. We just returned from our 7th annual visit and can't wait for next year. The one week we spend at NFR each year is true a highlight of our lives. NFR is located in the gorgeous Rocky Mountains just about an hour from Denver airport. When you arrive, you will be greeted warmly by the owners, Dean and Karen May, who have been running NFR for 25 years. They live onsite and oversee all aspects of the ranch which is no doubt why the vacation experience is beyond exceptional. There truly is something there for everyone. My husband is an avid fly fisherman who spends a few days each trip fishing the fantastic North Fork of the South Platte River that flows right through the property, just steps away from the main lodge. I join him on the river when I'm not horse back riding with our daughter or shopping in nearby Breckenridge. The fish we have caught there are the largest and most spirited trout we have ever encountered. Our daughter has an absolute ball at NFR. Karen and Dean, their two lovely children, and all the staff have practically adopted our little girl as their own. One of the greatest joys is watching our daughter enjoy the freedom of wandering the ranch on her own. This is not something we could ever allow her to do in the big city where we live. And then there is the food which is simply amazing. The food is non-stop and positively incredible. Karen and her staff go to great lengths to make sure that the home cooked meals, fresh baked breads, outdoor BBQs. and beyond-words desserts are absolutely top-notch. I have yet to meet a fellow NFR guest who isn't blown away by the quality and quantity of food and good cheer. In addition to the hayrides, live music, swimming, whitewater rafting, horseback riding, square dancing, fly fishing, and camp fires, the warmth and joy that permeates the whole NFR experience makes a visit to the ranch a truly unique and treasured vacation. We have made such wonderful friends at the ranch (ranging from fellow guests and staff, to the entire May family) that NFR feels more like a home away from home than just a vacation spot. I was looking to take my family (3 teenage boys) to a Guest Ranch that was located close to Denver and could accommodate a partial week stay. I found North Fork Ranch and could not have been happier with the choice. We all had a fabulous time and it far exceeded my expectations. NF is privately owned and operated and it shows. Karen and Dean rightfully have a lot of pride in the ranch and their attention to detail and personal touch make a huge difference. They are real pros and have fine tuned their operation to provide fantastic, personable service and excellent amenities. Upon our arrival, as Karen gave us a tour of the property, my 12 year old son kept repeating to me under his breath, "I like this place". The setting is lush with green pastures and pines with the river running right through the property. Our cabin had a view of the river and was tastefully appointed and comfortable with a stone fireplace. The food was truly delicious and, between meals, there is always some type of snack/sweet laid out to nibble on. In addition, the staff are all super friendly and deliver great service. NF accommodates about 35 guests which seemed like a comfortable number of people to me and allowed us to get to know some other guests but also feel as though we were in a relaxed setting with plenty of opportunities for quiet time if you want it. The weekly agenda of activities provides all sorts of fun things to do if you choose to participate. We went on a trail ride, participated in a fly fishing clinic, and went white water rafting. But the highlight for me and my oldest son was a half-day guided fly fishing session. The stretch of private water on the ranch has some of the best fishing in Colorado. Every pool that we fished in the river had enormous trout (5-8 lbs). I plan on coming back here in the spring or fall with some buddies just to fish. And I'm not even much of a fisherman. It's that good! They also have a stocked fishing pond which the kids (and I) had a lot of fun with. We are thrilled that we found NF Ranch and highly recommend it for both families and couples (and fishermen too!). read more

Whether you are new to fly fishing (like me) or a seasoned fisherman, you must try this magnificent venue. Dean & Karen are gracious, wonderful hosts and Casey rounds out the team to provide tasty, plentiful meals to all guests at the lodge. OBTW, the water pressure in our cabin was better than at home. North Fork Ranch held Reel Recovery's men's retreat 5/12 thru 5/14/14, and what wonderful treatment they gave to our men that have, and who have had cancer. The hospitality the Mays give, is second to none. All the men (13 attendees) raved about the facilities. The food was truly amazing, we'll all have to lose weight after. The fishing is world class, even the novice caught 3-5lb trout. This is a must location for a single day on the river, or a extended days company visit. You will not be disappointed! read more

I recently held a corporate meeting at North Fork Ranch with over 30 attendees. The experience exceeded our expectations in every way. The property is exactly what you would hope for - picturesque and perfectly maintained. The meeting room was large and comfortable, including a wood fireplace that was roaring every morning. Off of the meeting and dining room was a patio overlooking the river which was an ideal location for relaxed conversations. During our meetings which ran for several hours, unexpected treats such as iced coffee and fresh baked cookies would silently appear much to our surprise and enjoyment. The meals were excellent - perfectly prepared, exactly on schedule, and unbelievably delicious. We had arranged an afternoon of team building activities including horseback riding, trap shooting, and guided fly fishing. The activity guides were a true pleasure. They ensured that each and every team member had a memorable experience. But above all Karen, Dean, and the entire staff were an absolute pleasure to work with. They were gracious, caring, and worked very hard to make sure that every aspect of our stay was perfect in every way. Have been home 24 hours and miss being at North Fork Ranch. What an outstanding vacation spot. My husband and I rode horses, shot clay pigeons, swam in pool and soaked in hot tub, hiked on property and in a nearby property with waterfalls and fished in pond. My husband went fly fishing two different times with knowledgable Orvis fishing guides. Three meals a day wonderfully prepared and delicious. The hosts, Karen and Dean, are friendly, helpful and work hard to meet your every need. Their staff were all polite, happy young men and women who love their jobs. We have never been to a place before where every single need was met before we even knew we might need something! HIGHLY recommend to families, couples, groups, single people.
