Super beautiful and nature-deco restaurant. I would honestly decorate my house like it if I could. Staff were super polite and broke down each dish with expert knowledge. Utensils and plating were switched out between each course. Drinks were super fun and creative. I had one that tasted like straight up pesto in a good way lol. The food was tasty I could tell the level of effort and precision that went into each dish. The only star I'd dock is for the pricing of 2 of the dishes. I don't know how I'd justify dropping ~$30 for the veggie medley and aioli. And while the diver sole was my favorite dish, I wish I was let known the $95 price tag of it while it was being pitched to me instead of finding out on the bill. Idk maybe shame on me for forgetting to ask, might've went with a pasta instead. Dessert was fantastic, I'm typically not a big fan of strawberries but the strawberry yuzu is a mind-changer. All in all a satisfactory experience. Will I come back? Maybe. Just be mentally prepared to come with a large budget and ask for the prices of the specials.

Wow! Chef Travis...Amazing experience. Service was top notch. Refined yet comfortable and welcoming. Always impressive when you learn from the staff about food and wine. Our server was excellent and very informative. Able to cater our experience to our preferences. Very flexible. Critique that I voiced to the server: the food runner delivered our dishes in a timely manner and paced well with our experience. Also, knowledgeable in the ingredients, dish descriptions, and recommendations on how to eat, however just speaking a bit too fast which made it hard to understand everything that was said. Advised just to slow it down, which is easier said than done in what can be a fast-paced environment. We noted Chef Travis and our server informed us he was, and always is, consistently there. To our surprise, Chef came to our table to chat and we got to give our praise first hand + a photo! Fleurette is a special place that blends French cuisine with California ingredients. Keep doing what you are doing Chef. Oui!

Fleurette strikes that rare balance of being high-end, chic, and genuinely welcoming. Service was exceptional. Our server was kind, patient, and deeply knowledgeable about the menu - even with a large work dinner table, everything was handled smoothly and without a hint of stress. Also, not to be overlooked - the staff looked straight out of a fashion campaign The menu is thoughtfully curated with an extensive wine list. The in-house breads, served warm, were a standout and set the tone for the rest of the meal. I was a vegetarian that week so didn't order a lot but the risotto was amazing! All in all, a polished dining experience that absolutely justifies the price point.

My 2nd time coming to this place, the chef Travis is from Daniel out of NYC which I have been a few times, and knocked my socks off every single time! The staff here are so amazing, I asked the 1st server how the interview process was to work here? They said they had to write the 3 page menu verbatim, and handle guest's energy whether they are in a hurry, not in a great mood, or happy as a clam. And how they had to match that energy. The food runners were also amazing and things ran like clockwork. Food was all beautifully prepared, and the taste was a gustatory pleasure for my palate. I can't say enough positive things about this restaurant and the experience it brings. For sure will be coming back often.

My wife and I celebrated her birthday at Fleurette and the experience as excellent. We had early reservations (we generally eat earlier than most - 530pm). We used valet to park which was nice and only $10. The restaurant itself is great. the ambiance is quite nice and I like the look of the bar. The food itself was all excellent. We started with a few appetizers of a gluten-free pasta and beet salad. We then ordered the duck and wagyu and everything was cooked perfectly. The drinks were also spot on but I do wish they had a few more options on the menu. The service was excellent and everyone was very friendly and accommodating. it is certainly not a cheap place to eat but as a special occasion it is quite a great option to have in the area.

Salad Tropezienne was refreshing paired with the Dover Sole.

What an amazing experience! This was our second visit to Fleurette in La Jolla, and it did not disappoint. The food is thoughtfully curated with exceptional ingredients, and our waiter's recommendations were spot-on. We started with the Ham & Cheese--simple in name, but absolutely perfect. The crispy gougères paired with cornichons, 24-month Prosciutto di Parma, Gruyère, and black truffle fonduta were heavenly. I only wish there were more than three on the plate! Next, the Leek Vinaigrette with that generous topping of caviar was a standout. The Big Eye Tuna tartare with avocado, basil mousse, and serrano chili hit all the right notes with its fresh, vibrant combo. Then came the Egg Yolk Fettuccine--WOW. They use a 40-yolk-to-1-pound-of-flour ratio, and it shows; the pasta was rich, silky, and exquisite. The Salad Tropezienne was beautifully refreshing and paired perfectly with the Dover Sole for a light, elegant finish. We were so full that we sadly had to skip dessert this time... but that just means we'll be back soon! Highly recommend Fleurette for a special night out. It's calm environment and stylish design makes for a beautiful night out. Chef Travis Swikard and the team are doing something truly special here. Can't wait to bring more friends along for a special dining experience.

Whipped ricotta for the Garganelli alla Genovese, on the side.

Had a very good dinner at Fleurette and would definitely go back. Also nice bonus is that parking is validated if you park in the La Jolla Commons garage right next to the restaurant off Executive Dr. Seating is very comfortable and relaxed. The Duck Liver & Bone Marrow Pâté was excellent. Light, creamy, mildly buttery, and really good with the fennel marmalade, citrus puree, and thin slices of brioche toast. My only small issue is that the pâté portion is generous enough that one or two more slices of toast would have been nice. The Garganelli alla Genovese was probably my favorite dish of the night. The hand-rolled garganelli was absolutely delicious, and the braised wagyu beef was superb. It had a rich, nicely caramelized flavor, and the whipped ricotta on top (asked for on the side, as seen in my photo) added a really nice creamy contrast to the acidity of the ragù. We also had the Côte de Boeuf, which had a great presentation and was brought out pre-cut, then taken back for additional cutting before being served again a few minutes later. It had decent marbling, really nice seasoning, and a good crust. The portion is large enough to feed about two to four people. That said, some parts were a little tough to slice and also a little tough to chew, so for me it didn't quite live up to the price. There was also a simple green salad with a light vinaigrette that paired well with the richer dishes. For dessert, the Milk Chocolate & Hazelnut Mille-Feuille was a real treat. Flaky, delicious, and definitely right in my wheelhouse since I'm a sucker for hazelnut desserts. Overall, really enjoyable dinner. The pâté and especially the garganelli were the standouts for me.

What a place. Incredible. As if you are eating inside a museum. The exterior of Fleurette is very foreign, very European, very modern. Like a cool gallery or a nice café. Immediately you notice the yellow doors- which change shades as the sun sets. They have an outdoor covered patio- very French, very pretty. As you walk in you, you are immediately greeted by the hostess and two portraits of his mentors. Very cool. To the left of the restaurant you'll find booths with beautiful pond lily lights. Our party of two got seated on a booth/chair combo and I had a full view of the beautiful kitchen. How cool. I immediately, well not immediately, I took my time and eventually looked up and wondered where is Chef Travis. I didn't see him right away. A few staff members came to our table as soon as we were seated. A very competent waitress introduced us to the menus and took our order. Again, she was very knowledgeable. I started with a glass of a French red and move on to a California red, both good. We started our meal with the following: Kanpachi & Carrot "Cru"- the kanpachi was absolutely beautifully served. It felt sinful to eat it or even touch it. Beef Tartare a la "Nicoise"- Hmm I've had better, but not bad. I believe the presentation really threw me off on this one. Sheep's Milk Ricotta Gnocchi- Fun to eat for sure, the sugar snap peas crack when you bite them and as a non sugar snap pea eater, it's kind of cool to have them in your meal Roasted Golden Chicken- This was the- hate to say this- true disappointment- the skin was done to perfection, but the chicken itself was dry. What can I say, we've been spoiled by the Aleppo. At some point during my meal I looked up and saw Chef Travis Skiward. I'm a big fan of his work. I visited his first restaurant, Callie, a while back and it's still my favorite San Diego restaurant. Congrats Chef on the beautiful execution of your second restaurant. I wish you happiness and lots of success.

We were really looking forward to visiting Chef Travis Swikard's newest restaurant, Fleurette, which was opened 3 months ago. It is located in business district area near UTC mall. ** PLEASE NOTE: Look for entrance for "La Jolla Common" off Executive Drive for the valet and self parking for Fleurette (you should be able to see Fleurette on sign). If you park in correct parking structure, Fleurette can validate your parking slip. ** Give yourself some time to locate it (just entering Fleurette's address in Google Maps doesn't help and may get you to incorrect parking structure which gets no validation). Fleurette is easily recognizable in a triangle-shaped glass building with canary-yellow double doors. The restaurant is beautifully decorated in French Mediterranean colors of olive green, azure blue, turquoise, yellow, and terra cotta and wood. The floor to ceiling windows floods the restaurant with light and views of greenery from outside. Our servers (Chloe and Lana) were welcoming and helpful with recommendations. Between each course, we were presented with new set of plates and utensils. We ordered several mocktails, such as Provence and Eze, and we had the bartender customize a couple more cocktails. They all had unique flavors, and prices ranged from $18-26. We really enjoyed the Duck Liver and Bone Marrow Pate ($32) which is accompanied by a dollop of winter citrus sauce, fennel marmalade and 4 slices of brioche toast. It was delicious (if you like pate). We wished there were more toast for the pate. Next, we ordered the Garganelli alla Genovese ($38) which is 24-hour braised Wagyu shank ragu with freshly made pasta and caramelized onion and ricotta. It was perfectly al dente and very flavorful. For entree, we ordered the recommended 32 oz Dry Aged Flannery Boeuf ($160, for 2-3 people) which was first shown to us before it was sliced, and then it was brought back sliced and served with roasted onions and garlic. Before coming, we researched this dish and read glowing reviews of it. Our server commented that it was the best beef she ever had. So, anticipation and expectation were high. What we had was very fatty and resembled a prime rib from any other restaurant. We just didn't think it was very special for that price! We finished with a Mille Feuille dessert with stracciatella ice cream, which was very good with its nuts and hazelnut cream. So the meal ended on a good note after all.

Oddly tucked into a UC Office Park... Fleurette is one of those rare rooms where the staff feels like your extended posse. Not in the loud, overfamiliar way, but in that intuitive, tuned in rhythm where they read your pace, your appetite, your curiosity, and shape the entire night around it. They anticipate instead of interrupting. They move with confidence instead of choreography. It's hospitality with actual soul. The meal builds slowly and deliberately. The kitchen knows exactly when to flex and when to whisper. The prosciutto profiteroles are a quiet showstopper. A little gift from the chef to welcome us. Golden shells filled with truffle and gherkin, followed by a cream sauce that hits like a secret handshake. The beet ribbons are a visual flex. Magenta curls over a creamy base with citrus and herbs. Light, bright, and confident. The sweetbreads are tender and deeply savory, sitting in a sauce that ties the whole dish together. Bread, oil, tapenade. Simple, salty, perfect. The duck breast arrives with a glossy reduction and a coriander crust that cracks under the knife. The greens are clean and honest. The kind of dish that only works when a kitchen has nothing to hide. The wagyu pasta is rich and silky, the entire table was emotionally moved by this dish. Someone may or may not have wept tears of regret that they spent 50 years on this planet and only now have tasted this. The garganelli is its counterpoint, creamy with the taste of the ocean imparted by a dollop of SD uni, the kind of plate that makes you forget to talk for a minute. Right before dessert, they drop a palate cleanser served inside a lemon. Bright, aromatic, and refreshing. A tiny reset that signals the final act. Dessert is lavender and honey. Soft, floral, and calming. A gentle landing after a long arc of flavor. The cocktails deserve their own paragraph. The Coronado is a brown butter bourbon situation that feels like it was designed around my palate. And the ice cube stamped with their duck mascot is pure unadulterated swagger. The Del Mar is glowing and green, crisp, and refreshing. Fleurette is the rare spot where the food is exceptional, the pacing is dialed in, and the team makes you feel like you've been coming there for years. It isn't just dinner. It's a night that stays with you.

Fleurette is Chef Travis Swikard's newest venture as his team has opened a French restaurant amidst the surrounding high-rise towers where numerous financial institutions reside in the UTC area. I decided to come on a whim when I noticed there was an available time slot on OpenTable. If you don't want to use the valet service, then park at the nearby structure and take your ticket for validation by the hostess at the end of your meal. The interior was modern and chique with an open setting like a giant lounge. There was a great resemblance to the Chef's flagship restaurant in the East Village section of downtown. A half oval bar was to the left when you walked in. After I checked in at the hostess stand, one of the ladies took me past that area on the way to my table. From where I sat, I could see the kitchen where an army of chefs was preparing orders. The food menu was made up of three pages. The first listed four Bites & Snacks. The Sourdough Rosemary Fougasse was the most popular and was unfortunately sold out by that time of the evening when I arrived. Starters, Pasta, and Risotto were on the second page. Some of the starters were more expensive than the pasta offerings. Mains and Accoutrements (sides) were on the last page. For my dinner, I selected the last pasta listing which was the Garganelli alla Genovese ($36). Braised wagyu, beef shank ragu, caramelized onion, and whipped ricotta were the ingredients with the ridged, tubular shaped noodles. There was a strong meaty flavor, but the portion size was petite for the price. The server said it would be more filling than most of the starters which made me wonder how light those were. Of the seven main dishes, my pick was the Dry Aged Liberty Farms Duck a L'Orange. The entree was served on two separate plates. The larger one contained two pieces of duck breast cooked medium rare and seasoned with black pepper. A generous serving of horseradish jus was ladled in between the pieces. The smaller plate featured a duck leg shank stuffing with poached clementine placed on top. Orange blossom honey was used as the sweet sauce to enhance the flavor of the duck meat. The presentation was unique and one of the more satisfying duck courses I have tried. The service I received from the waitstaff was good. The main waitress was knowledgeable of the menu and adequately addressed the questions I had. While the pasta was mediocre, the presentation and execution of the duck more than made up for that. I gave a four star rating for my dining experience at Fleurette.

I was first scheduled to dine at Fleurette on December 12th---two days after they opened, but I had to cancel because of medical issues. I booked again and tonight was my first visit. There is a handicapped parking space as you pull along the entrance driveway just before you reach the valet, who is posted just at front of the restaurant. The hostess at Fleurette standing at her podium just behind the carved double yellow doors was not quite as gracious as would be expected or hoped. On this quiet Tuesday night at 5:00 pm, when I checked in, she ordered me to "wait in the lounge", until my guest arrived. I informed her my guest would not be present and I was seated. But regardless, why argue with a guest then they arrive, and a table for one is the same as a table for two? The sea blue banquettes recall the La Jolla coast. Service by Chloe and Jackson was elegant, kind and refined. You can sense they each put their heart in their job. I also met Marc, who was equally kind. The wine list is presented on an i-pad. It is comprehensive and exciting to read. In reviewing the list, I noted a minor error in the use of the term "La Rhone", to designate wines from the Rhone Valley, as opposed to the correct term "Le Rhone". When I casually mentioned that minor error to the sommeliere from Callie, rather than showing an interest, a desire to make everything perfect, she seemed taken aback and offended, as if I were attacking her, proclaiming "I think of rivers as feminine!". Well, that is fine, and many rivers ARE feminine--like "La Seine". But the Rhone is not one of those rivers. When I later mentioned that odd interaction to Steve, he expressed real interest in making sure everything at Fleurette was perfect, even as simple as a "Le" or a "La", and I was impressed with his kind diligence. The risotto and the New York Steak were enjoyable. The side of French Fries was remarkably good. I am aware the valet company is likely a separate entity from Fleurette. However, as the client of the valet company, Fleurette could and should set some boundaries when the actions of the valets impact the clientele of Fleurette. Specifically, the valet ILLEGALLY parked a large car directly next to my, which was car properly parked in the handicapped parking space. The valet illegally parked that car on the area of cross-hatched stripes, where NO parking is permitted. I could not even open the door of my car on that side. Dear Fleurette: Please ask the valet company to cease that illegal practice.

From the moment we entered, we were mesmerized by the decor and ambiance. Even more so, was the impeccable food and service. From the mini ham/cheese sandies to the pasta selections and what has been the most incredible (Flanery Beef) steak I've ever had, we experienced one of the best culinary experiences in our lives. Bold statement, yes - but truly earned by Fleurette.

The mornay sauce was on the thicker side and there was some clumpiness, but it added pleasant creaminess. *Burger Parisienne: my preferred burger of the two offered. The bordelaise was done well, and the red wine added a complex sweetness to the burger. The patty was thick and the toppings made the overall flavor similar to an In-N-Out burger. *Burger Americaine: a classic American burger that resembled In-N-Out, but with a thicker patty. Good thing I enjoy both. The vegetables were fresh, but I would have liked a bit more of the special sauce. *Little Gems: a rather acidic and simple dressing. The little gems lettuce was cleaned well and was crispy. The radish offered some crunch and the herbs were fragrant. I would have cut the herbs a bit more though. This was quite a satisfying happy hour experience, although nothing was exceptional besides the croquettes. I would like to return to try their breakfast options, and Saint James does offer some interesting dishes that others do not. The pricing was fair for the quality we received.

Every time I come it is consistently delicious and I am very happy to hear that it they are opening a second location very close to my family's house in Rancho Santa Fe so now North County will be covered as well. Inside is very large and designed beautifully and is the sort of place you want to stay a while or take a date that you care about. It's a bit upscale, but the pricing is not too much. I would say business casual, but it really is a great date option. Our server was extremely polite and as always everything that we ordered came out very fast. Parking in Banker's Hill is extremely easy. We were able to find a street spot two blocks away and that's usually the case when I come here. For this visit, I started off with the Wagyu Beef Tartare and absolutely loved it. It had great flavor and everything about it was just wonderful. For my entrée I chose the Boeuf Bourguignon and that too was delicious. It had some really deep rich flavors and every part of it was just made very well. I was a huge fan of it and would highly recommend. Overall, I really love this place and would suggest to anyone in San Diego or visiting.

The ambience of this place was great, although maybe next time we'll sit in their outside/garden/patio area. The inside was just as nice, felt like we were in Paris as this is a French inspired/themed restaurant. Our waiter Kyle was really nice. He seemed a little busy though which helped in his lack of attention, but overall he was cool. Did a great a job answering our questions. We opted for a lot of different choices. The list is in no particular order but will highlight which was a table fave. - Parker Loaf [$12] need this to be a tad bit bigger to justify the price. Really good loaf of bread to start with though esp the rosemary butter. 4/5 - Fresh Oysters, 6 ct [$21] Really good oysters, super fresh, very "fat" & "meaty" 5/5 - Granita Oysters 6ctx2 [$25] Same oysters as above, BUT filled w/a yuzu/lemon concoction along w/pear pearls, TABLE FAVE for sure 5/5 (started with a 6 count before our mains & HAD to get another 6 after) - Mussels [$27] Very fresh and well seasons mussels, although the sauce was a bit odd tasting. It was white wine mixed with something they called "a cousin of absinthe" 4/5 - Wagyu tartare [$31] YUM! TABLE FAVE, wish it came with more bread though, that bone marrow was chef's kiss along with the sauce they paired the dish with 5/5 For the mains, two did the Top Sirloin [$48 each] which was described as 'melt in your mouth goodness' which came w/a square shaped potato & a piece of biggish mushroom. The two others did the Short Rib [$42 each] which was described as 'the demi-glaze makes' & 'it's fall off the bone.' I had the Poisson which was the fresh catch of the day (salmon) [$38] & it was really good! Came with bokchoy which was drenched in a maple sauce. That contradicted the lemony/citrusy sauce the salmon came in. There were greens on top of the salmon to complete the meal. Solid dish! I'd skip the deconstructed creme brulee [$15] as that was nobody's favorite. It left us leaving a "real" creme brulee... Do get the opera cake [$15] tho, that one was a TABLE FAVE! Do note that dinners here take a while as the chefs create masterpieces. Our dinner for 5 turned into a 3-4 hour affair, which was fine. Good times!

Wormwood is nestled in an old house courtyard that is absolutely brimming with charm and character, the environment is truly fantastic and sets a lovely mood. The service was excellent throughout the night, and for the most part, the kitchen delivered on some amazing flavors. We shared several dishes: * Steamed Mussels & Scallops: Perfectly prepared. * Pasta & Wagyu Beef: Rich, delicious, and beautifully plated. * Burrata Salad: While the flavors were good, this was our only disappointment. The greens didn't seem fresh and had some wilted/rotten leaves, appearing as though it might have been sitting out too long before reaching the table. A quick tip on logistics: Like many popular spots in San Diego, parking was a bit of a challenge, so definitely give yourself some extra time to find a space in the neighborhood. For this restaurant, the stunning atmosphere and the quality of the main courses made for a memorable meal. We'd certainly come back for the vibes and those scallops!

They already mentioned that 20% service fee will be included. We were OK with that. However, the tax amount that was calculated was not correct. The hostess had a note for our anniversary celebration. They also printed a little celebatory note directly on the menu - a great personal touch. Our server was friendly and answered any questions we had. We ordered the beef tartare, smoked aged duck, and the deep fried sand bass. For the drink we ordered the Seasame Soirée. While our food came out pretty slow, I'd say it was worth the wait. We also enjoyed 2 complimentary glasses of bubbly while we waited as part of our anniversary celebration. The restarant itself is decorated beautifully with a jazzy ambiance. The interior had bits of gold and green with a beautiful pearlescent leafy wallpaper. The bar is located in the center and also doubles as a centerpiece to the restuarant. Restrooms are located in the back - there we many private, clean and spacious rooms. Below is a summary of the food we ordered: Beef Tartare (5/5) - Savory, sweet and spicy beef tartare dressed in fish sauce and thai chilis. Paired alongside fresh herbs like cilantro, shiso, argula and radicchio. The sesame rice crackers were light and airy. Smoked Dry Aged Duck (5/5) - Perfectly cooked, sweet and salty aged smoked duck paired with rice noodles, herbs and 2 different sauces. I appreciated the many ways you can wrap and enjoy the duck. I do wish the slices of duck were either smaller or thinner - it's hard to eat in one bite. Whole Fried Sand Bass (4/5) - I'll always order a whole firied fish wherever I go and this was no expection. I loved the sweet & sour ginger sauce. The fish was a bit over-fried in my personal opinion, but the inside is still very soft and tender. Sweet & Sour Rice Noodles (5/5) - Aboslutely delicious! Slippery and cold rice noodles dressed in fish sauce and other seasonings. It's not overpowering at all and goes great with the Whole Fried fish as well. Seasame Soiree Cocktail (5/5) - A very unique drink made with gin, ginger, coconut, seasame seeds and more. It was very fragrant in the best way. The flavor really develops after the first sip. I love how nutty and decadent yet light this drink is. Overall, I had a great experience here and this is one of the top restaurants I've had the pleasure of enjoying in SD. Highly reccomend especially if you like Vietnamese food / fish-sauce forward dishes. (At least for the dishes I ordered)

The reason for that is that they are a very small restaurant, and seem to have a regular following in the community. On weekends, reservations fill up quickly, Anyway, I I was able to secure reservations at last and met up with two of my friends on a Friday night in December. It was quite the rainy night. Luckily, I found free parking easily nearby, as perhaps, the rain was keeping the crowds away. Once I stepped inside, the restaurant had a cozy European and vintage feel. The walls had black an white photographs of France, and the bar looks like it was straight out of an old movie. I absolutely loved the decor. I was greeted quickly as I walked in. I was the first or our party to arrive. I was given water and a menu, and the server checked to see if I needed anything else. Once my friends arrived, they were met with the same level of attentive service. With this particular group of friends, we generally share each dish so that we can taste a variety. Here the menu is small. I can appreciate a small menu, as it became apparent that each dish is treated with attention. However, it was a bit challenging to find dishes that we would all enjoy off of the small menu, due to our variety of preferences. We decided to start with the pâte and the rillettes de saumon ( an indulgent salmon spread). Both were served with baguette and butter. For our entrees, we had the truite amandine (almond trout) and the short rib. Honestly, all of the food had so much flavor and was perfectly cooked. I cannot comment on the pâte, as I did not try it. However, it was all I could do not to fill up on the salmon and baguette while trying to save room for the entrees. The trout was delicate and flavorful. The short rib was bold and melted in our mouths. For drinks, I chose the rose petal martini followed by a Cote de Rhone with my dinner. The rose petal martini was good and had fresh pomegranate, but I wish it had a stronger rose water/ rose petal flavor. My friend had a passion fruit spritz. I tasted it and appreciated the abundant fresh passion fruit. I really enjoyed the Cote de Rhone with my dinner. All throughout, the service was excellent. We were always checked upon, but never rushed. Even when we requested our leftovers to go, they held the bag in the kitchen, and gave it to us when we were ready to leave. All in all, this restaurant had great ambiance, excellent service, and delicious food. Make a reservation... if not, you will miss out!

The staff accommodated us at the bar with two seats after someone kindly scooted over. Food:The salmon was genuinely delicious - perfectly crispy skin, juicy flavorful tomatoes, and great execution overall. My date enjoyed her salad as well. For dessert, we both had the crème brûlée, which was good but smaller than expected and caramelized almost all the way through, leaving less of the creamy custard I was hoping for. The decaf coffee was excellent. My main complaint is portion size - I left still feeling a bit hungry after a $100+ meal (salmon, salad, two desserts, drinks). Service: The bartender was respectful and patient, clearly trying not to interrupt our conversation. However, this went a bit too far - I had to flag him down each time we needed something, which slowed our meal considerably when I was focused on my date. Atmosphere: Cozy and intimate with a living room vibe that actually worked well for a first date. The downside? It was uncomfortably warm despite the rainy evening outside, and the space is tight enough that you can hear neighboring conversations clearly. Value: At $100 for two people (no alcohol, one salad), it's priced at a premium level. While the food quality was there, the service and portions didn't quite match the price point for me. Would I return? Probably not - there are other restaurants in this price range that deliver more complete experiences. That said, if you don't mind the cost and value intimate ambiance over attentive service, it might work for you.

Yes, I will be there next month with my whole gang celebrating with me on my special day! Our reservations were early, arriving on time @ 5:30 it was a bit quiet with only two other tables, but not for long. In no time every single table was filled. The restaurant was busy and the wine was a'flowin'! This quaint and very special restaurant reminds me of a small restaurant in San Diego in the 1980's, "Ciao Bella". It was located downtown on 4th Ave., it was also chef-owned. When you dine at a chef owned restaurant you are most likely destined for greatness, or a great meal! This is the case at Angela's Kitchen 'Carbon', because there is pure authenticity in her dishes and a whole lotta' love delivered in each plate. The subtle, warm decor is welcoming and the music is played at the perfect level. Just the right ambiance. Once seated, you'll be promptly greeted and the attentive wait staff will have your wine delivered pronto. What a selection they have. I started with the prosecco and moved on to the Sangiovese which complimented my pappardelle perfectly. My friend ordered the grilled salmon and had the Montepulciano Abate Pietro. The delivery of their fresh bread with garlicky pesto, and another with tomato, which I think was a focaccia. Just amazing. We asked for olive oil to compliment the bread: it was the very best of quality with a dark Sicilian olive green hue and the smoothness with the polyphenols and antioxidants dancing in my mouth. Yum! I asked for a side of Parmigiano and they brought a nice square ramekin full of finely grated cheese, Perfection!! These are the details that make me fall in love with a restaurant, causing me to return again and again. Both of our entrees were executed perfectly, the vegetables were grilled leaving a slight char, and the salmon was grilled just right leaving a tender center. My pappardelle was dressed in the deepest, richest mushroom + beef cheek fusion of flavors with whispers of some kind of red wine like maybe the Nero d'Avola that they feature on the menu. WoW!! This is a dish that you want to take your time savoring. Every bite surpassed the last, and then a sip of the Sangiovese and I was in fresh pasta heaven. Just when we were winding down and reeling from being overwhelmed by the amazing food, Angela came to our table with cannoli. It too was amazing! This was such a kind and unexpected gesture from the chef/owner. Grazie mille, a domani!
