Such happiness comes over me when I see a Roller Rink. One of the Funnest Activities I ever had as a kid. A time to enjoy with friends and family, pure joyous experiences. So when I was shopping nearby and saw their Nice Big Sign, I had to stop! So much fun. The entryway, Is like a blast to the past. nostalgia. Very busy place, they had a bunch of kids parties and she still was kind to discuss skating options. Their busy day is Saturday. They do book parties. Sessions. There was a DJ. A lot of fun!!! Parking was across the street for free for customers. $9, session $4 skates. Concessions inside Another awesome business that's been in their community Taking care of their community and offering something so special and unique. Not only for our growing generations but the ones that enjoyed them as kids as well. It's a great place to be oneself and free. To enjoy music And a form of dance; just on wheels. You can enhance your balance abilities , you can gain encouragement in yourself. It's not a Team sport, so you determine your skill level. But it's fun. Kids love it. Adults also. Great for families. What a wild and wonderful experience! First off, parking is nuts... seems like this is the hottest place in town on a Friday night. There's overflow parking at the funeral home across the street. They have lockers, bring quarters to use them... or better yet, consider not bringing anything with you at all. They'll take your shoes when you rent skates. The rental skates weren't bad, but you can also bring your own. I also saw a few people with roller blades too. Inside, there isn't a lot of space outside the rink. The existing space is filled with people getting and putting on skates, patient parents watching their kids, people in line for concessions, etc.. shoulder-to-shoulder... do not expect a spacious, leisurely experience. There were 4 birthday parties going on and it didn't seem too out of the ordinary. It's also very loud inside, so don't go with hopes of having conversation. The rink itself is a decent size and skating was a blast! Great DJ, nice staff, lots of kids, and a few very impressive adult skaters! There was a good mix of music - current hits and classics. I liked the random activities they had throughout the night - birthday shout outs, ladies skate song, men's skate, etc. It broke up the monotony and also helped clear the floor occasionally. The rink was crowded, but manageable. Lots of people falling. I didn't get any concessions, but they had the standard fare (pizza, hot dogs, soda, chips, etc). No alcohol that I could see. The line was long and all the tables and seating were taken up by birthday parties or parents, so I'm not sure where we would've even sat or stood to eat. Safety tip: it can get warm and the water fountain was broken, so bring your own water or be prepared to buy a bottle. Stay hydrated! I would definitely come back and recommend to others, but would recommend going when it's not so busy - maybe a weeknight or weekend afternoon. This place was a ton of fun for an adult birthday party. A lot of people really know how to skate and dance. They go fast on the outside ring. If you are a beginner, bring a friend. The music is fun. People are nice. You will see all skill levels for sure, but a lot of skating lovers even for Tuesday evening. The bar in the back is a cool detail. Lockers were a deceivingly great size. I'm 42- so don't let age stop you ya'll- the vibe here is for everyone of all ages on Saturday night. The DJ keeps an eclectic mix of new pop and old jams and introduces some deep cuts in the music line up. Yes there are a lot of teens, but most of them are just as rough on the skates as your rusty ass that hasn't been on wheels in a decade too. There was a grandma dusting me on the floor while I tried to remember how to get my balance, and just a few guys who make skating look like dancing- but most people are just there to have fun and be cool with everyone else on the rink floor. No roller derby types on all skate nights, so the vibe was just right. Parking is a bit difficult to find in the neighborhood and people always go the wrong way down the one way road, but some patience will score you a spot. It can get crowded, but everyone tries to make room for everyone else. This rink seems to be doing so well, I think it's time for a few more around town ya'll. read more

Apparently this place is pretty historic to my knowledge. One of the few Roller Rinks really left too. I came here because they were open and I definitely wanted to come here since I never came to a roller rink in my life. Sure I fell on my butt a few times but I enjoyed every minute of this place. Firstly, this place is really old school and retro, it feels as if you're in the 1980's, it's got that nostalgic feel to it. It's got a snack bar which in my opinion was pretty expensive. It's got a little merchandise booth too. They have small lockers mainly to put shoes and a couple of small things in there. The prices are fairly reasonable too and not much to complain about. The negatives though, firstly is parking, parking is hard to find and you'll end up parking in residential areas that have various parking restrictions. The lockers are hard and a bit confusing to use especially if it's your first time. The hours are really wacky here. Food and merch is a bit pricey. All in all this is still a great place (this place is truly 3.5 stars) I definitely wish this place can stay around for a long time and carry its historic presence everywhere it goes. The "manager" is extremely rude with no people skills. Accusing me of bringing an outside ticket. Seriously?!?! So, you rather have a negative review overt making things right? I purchased an entrance and skate rental for two however given that I was talking to a mom, I never got to skate. Today, I thought I would use my ticket to rent skates (since it was already PAID for) and it just went downhill. The employee who skates and is helping folks learn how to skate is awesome... So there I was, pulling into the lot of Fleetwood on a crisp January afternoon, with tempered expectations. I had not laced up a roller skate in 12 years. I had not been on a date in 15 years. In a matter of moments, I would be doing both. My date was a ravishing fox - a deft skater with a keen eye for the best neon rubber balls in the claw machines. With a subtle yet unmistakable ascendancy, the magic of this roller rink quickly took hold of both of us. "I love this place," my date whispered repeatedly. "You're so handsome and good at everything," she began to add. Pleased and with growing confidence, I approached the DJ booth. "Ain't Nobody, by Chaka Khan," I said. "Why are you talking so loudly?" The DJ asked. I scowled, dejected, but as I turned back toward the rink, the entire building was flooded with the sweet, sweet baseline of my song request. Don't get me wrong it's fun and all but let's just say if you want to get COVID this is the place to go. Most places will have limit of people to go in, this place kept letting in people like nothing and people either didn't have a mask or wear it correctly, I feel sorry the guy on the speaker that had to keep reminding them every 5 minutes. I have been coming to Fleetwood for many years now and have made a lot of close friends that work and skate at this rink. Let me state clearly that this review is toward management and ownership of the rink. Here are a few considerations before spending money here starting with the least concerning to the most concerning. They recently raised their prices but they haven't improved quality of anything let alone the treatment of their customers. Avoid this place if it rains because the roof is very leaky and makes for a dangerous floor. Skate etiquette doesn't exist here which contributes to many injuries and I've seen on more than a handful of times, people leaving on stretchers. Why don't they teach basic skate etiquette to prevent people from getting hurt? They must think signing a waiver is enough care to be taken. I am disappointed to even write this but the owner and manager have both exhibited concerning behavior and to describe it lightly have been very unprofessional let alone unhinged. Please keep your drama to yourselves and do not subject paying customers to your issues. Resolve that internally or your business will be impacted. One session was interrupted by the female owner throwing a temper tantrum and threw off her shoes at the sight of skaters doing a line dance in the middle of the rink. We have done this for years. She continued to yell at the DJ, got on the mic to scream and proceeded to scream at another floor guard....to...stop...people...from...skating....at an adult session. The male manager, several times, stated out loud that they will cancel the Tuesday night adult sessions due to all the excuses he could come up with. Never did he once take accountability for the conduct of management and the owner there. People witnessed their questionable behavior and choose to take their money elsewhere. Plain and simple. Yelling out loud to threaten cancelling the session in front of many people who pay to be there is so hurtful. Own up to your shortcomings and begin to remediate the issues. I hope this behavior can be addressed so that the skate rink can continue to be a safe place for people to express themselves through skating and keep the community going for the younger skaters. read more

Had a blast here celebrating my bday with friends. It was such a 90s throwback, with colorful disco lights and cozy interior. The admission and rental prices were pretty cheap, considering that it was a weekend night. The rink is spacious, and there are a few rows of benches to put on your skates and rest. The announcer celebrates birthdays and announces different options for skating (i.e reverse, couples, guys-only, girls-only, etc.). Remember to bring quarters to pay for the lockers, which are 50 cents. I think you can also exchange cash with the cashier for quarters if you have a dollar bill on you, but I wouldn't count on that. Parking can be a little hard to find, but we found a spot behind the rink. They do sell food here, which is the same food including in the group party packages (although I didn't get a chance to try any). My only wishes are for the rink to be more even, as there are a couple gaps and rough patches at the corners of the rink, and for there to be more seating areas. However, both of these are minor details, and all in all, this place is fantastic! read more

All of our family and friends had a great time. The pizza was delicious and everything was well organized. The DJ played many of my daughter's song requests which was so sweet of him. It's like stepping into the 90s in the best possible way. We parked behind the building because we did not know that there was additional parking at the funeral home across the street. When you walk in they immediately ask you to sign something so that you don't sue them if you die. $8 admission and $3 skate rental and credit cards are accepted. Once this is all taken care of you get buzzed into the magic. All of a sudden you are transported into roller skating heaven. You give your ticket and one shoe to get your skates and pay 50 cents (they will give you change) to lock your stuff up. I loved that the benches were padded with carpet so that you didn't get hurt when you're trying to figure out how you'll do with skates on. Skating is a magical activity. Some people are amazing and some people really suck and it's painful watching them fall. There was a great DJ that made the night really fun by playing good music and doing some themed moments such as couples only, ladies only, gentlemen only, and cosmic hip hop for ten minutes. We appreciated the two employees making sure the rink was in order so that everyone could be safe and have fun. The guy on the skates was also checking if kids were hurt when they fell which was nice to see. There are snacks such as icees, nachos, and pizza. Can't wait to go back and try them! read more

I decided to sit this one out because I don't know how to rollerskate and don't know to rollerskate. Too bad there's no rollerskating rink around Northwest Chicago--only Southside and took us more than 30 minutes to arrive to one! I don't like the idea that nonskater is charged an admission fee of $8 & if you are to rollerskate it's $4 more. However, if you bring your own skates, it's just an admission fee. Her father went with us and encouraged our daughter to enjoy the experuence. Yes she fell a few times and cried a little at times, she enjoyed it and we may vome at least teice a month. This rink has own concession stand and the price is fairly decent with the amount of portions. It's best to buy a pitcher of soda for $8 then to buy individua size and buy the whole pizza vs slices. Don't quote me on the food quality because we ate nearby Portillos which is less than a block over. Small parking lot; street parking is available around the residential areas. Addtional parking near the funeral home across the street. Probably call beforehand for adult and kids skating schedule. We've been to 2 rinks and failed to go on a time for kids. A trip to the Fleetwood gave me warm and fuzzy feelings for lots of reasons: *Real roller skating took me back to being an 8th grader- by the end of the night I was scooting around with ease. *The music there took me back to 8th grade too! Lisa Lisa doing "All Cried Out?" How the hell did I remember every word?!?! I did, and I loved it! *The crowd really blew me away. A totally mixed crowd of blacks, whites, Hispanics- all of us having good times, and everybody, even the little kids, minded their manners! *I actually reconsidered my thoughts about not having children one day just because the kids here were so well behaved. Roller skating seems to bring out the best in people. And some of these kids were just fantastic skaters. *Couples skates! Gliding around on roller skates serenading that special someone to the sounds of Lisa Lisa is an experience unlike any other! *I got yelled at for chewing gum on the rink! Haha- no exceptions for adults, I was treated like a little kid! Watch out for the dude skating around with the whistle around his neck! So if you decide to give skating a whirl here on a Saturday night, expect a decent crowd, steal railings to stop you from crashing in many places, and just about any surface you touch will be either dirty, wet, or most likely, both. It is hard to find a good roller rink anywhere near chicago but this one is right on the border and just off the Stevenson (I-55) Expressway so its easy to get to. The atmosphere is great here. I've never had a problem here. It's in a good neighborhood and you don't hear alot of profanity being used around the children. People here seem to understand this is a family enviornment. They are great to book birthday parties, private parties or even a fund raiser. I am heading there again on Columbus day for a youth sports program party and do my best not to look like a clutz around the kids. They have renovated recently and are planning a massive overhaul for their 50th anniversary. Word is that they bought out the next door building and plans to expand are coming very soon!! I haven't been skating in maybe 20 years and since my buddy wanted to celebrate his bday in the place I thought what a perfect opportunity to get back into it. We got a bus to take us out here this past Saturday nite and had a great experience! The music was rocking, management was nice, the skates fit perfectly and the rink was a pretty decent size. They serve pizza and other snacks here in case all the skating helps you work up an appetite. There is also a karaoke bar attached next door that has really cheap drinks...I suggest you try it! read more

I was delighted that my granddaughter decided to throw my Great Granddaughter a Good ole fashion , kid friendly , easy on the pocket back in the day skate party ! That is until I entered this establishment. Ok, there's nothing wrong with old, old people, old buildings, old cars etc. Heck I'm old! However old stuff requires maintenance sometimes replacement, overhauls, updates, y'all get the picture. The carpet is filthy to the point of almost moldy There was a rancid odor in the washroom and I assumed someone had a bad case of diarrhea until another patron advised they had worked in the building maintenance and the fast food industry and the smell stemmed from unwashed and un-replaced filters in the soda machines and antiquated plumbing. I was an avid skater years ago and I can' t necessarily remember visiting this rink back in the day but if I did I'll bet you lunch at McDonald's every thing in this joint has been there since the original Grand Opening . Last night my friend Kevin rented out this rink, taking a party bus from the loop to celebrate his 30th birthday. It was an absolute blast. This place is huge. We had about 20 people but it could have easily held 200. So much space to relearn coordination I haven't had to use in the last 15 years. Mike told us stories of the rinks past and helped us size into our skates. We learned out the door to the bar next door and lost some more coordination. Not many roller rinks open especially due to the pandemic. I needed some time out so my son and I decided to go out skating on Friday night to the 7:30-10:30 open skate session. Reasonably priced for entry and skate rental. I brought my own skates but my son rented. You give them 1 of your shoes and your ticket. Fair amount of locker for 25 cent rental which is good. I will admit i was a little nervous considering the amount of people that were present. A lot of places only allowed a certain number of people at a time but i don't think it applied here. Everyone had on a mask with the exception of a few that had their mask covering their chin. The facility looked like it's been renovated since the last time I was there a few years ago. I would definitely go back once the pandemic is over and i feel a little more comfortable in big crowds. read more

The skating rink should be a place of enjoyment, fun and most of all safety, most rinks I have visited embody that and I've been to quite a few rinks across the world/country and Fleetwood roller rink misses the mark on several points that make GREAT rinks what they are. Not sure if this is a wage issue, but the floor guard presence is a tick away from being unnoticeable, causing a haywire of non-experienced skaters to skate in whatever direction they choose, this is a critical safety hazard to all. In most, if not all rinks that I have visited, the DJ has ownership in ensuring skaters are moving in the same, general direction. This place needs customer service, staff AND facilities training. I would not recommend a visit to Fleetwood until they get their shit together on the few, but super important points I've expressed that set most skate rinks apart from this place. I'm left with the opinion that all they care about is the transaction that happens at the ticket counter. DO BETTER FLEETWOOD, pay your staff a better wage and train them to manage safety and customer service! read more

The rink is nice. The floor could be scraped and cleaned due to some spots with gum. When I had gone the music was a little low but I know that they lower the music for the youth.
