The only pictures I have is from my nieces party, which is why I attended the roller rink. I don't skate anymore, but they have some really great party rooms, not too large. We had the party before the rink was open so it was just us who attended. My niece is teenager & this was the perfect place for her party. For starters this area (Tinley Park) is nice. Which is a plus. We walked in the place and instantly smelled some dog or something wet which is disgusting. Me and my family requested multiple songs which they were barely any written down ahead of us. The music was absolute garbage and wasn't diverse. So many kid songs and coco melon themed songs were played which is disappointing as someone who enjoys listening to GOOD music. So many kids running around and don't get me started on the prices of the food, drinks etc. I can honestly say i didn't have a hard time with the workers but this place has to become more adult and teen based and not strictly focused on children music. I also didn't like that there were times when skating was paused based of ability to skate, gender etc. I can honestly say I'm truly dissatisfied with my experience but I would recommend this place for younger children. read more

I have been going there on and off since 1981. Great place and nostalgic. I prefer my inline skates over side by side. As long as the wheels are in good shape I believe you can still use them. They may also rent inline skates there also. Just call and find out. Carey is the best. read more

I took my teens for an "unofficial" birthday gathering. Staff, security, dj were absolutely wonderful and personable. I think this place is a gem for the youth and an amazing great crowd of kids. Prices are insanely reasonable by today's standards. Yes, a little outdated. But I would presume that the margins are very low for this type of establishment so I appreciate that they're probably serving the community more than driving profit which all should appreciate. The adults that run the place are super rude. The cashier needed a calculator to deduct $8 from a 50 dollar bill and hands me $31 as change. When I told her about it she takes it back and hands me $41. I told her one more dollar and that she needs a better calculator. She proceeds to yell "get out of here" to me. This was occurring while over by the rink another older individual was rudely telling the kids that he goes off of his watch and not theirs because he wouldn't let them on the rink even though it was after the 8pm opening time. The ceiling looks like it could go crashing to the floor. Half the bulbs are burned out over the rink and all the lights have years of dust and cobwebs on them. Pros - Safe location. Perfect for kids 10-17 as well as adults. The skating rink itself is in excellent condition. Pricing is fair. Employees are kind, efficient and diligent in enforcing rules for safety! This is a family business and the owner is a good man. Vintage arcade games the ones you would have enjoyed in the 80's and 90's. Draws a great crowd of kids who are just trying to have a good time and aren't starting any trouble. One of the workers busted a girl for under age drinking. They approached the obvious 14 year old and said she had alcohol on her breath and needed to leave. She argued back with a beet red face but he was right I smelled it and I wasn't even standing near her. The point was he gave a darn about under age drinking. A lot of establishments would have ignored it and said as long as they didn't see it they didn't care not this guy he made her call a parent to come get her because she wasn't allowed to stay and skate smelling like booze. He learns the kids names and calls them out like a baby sitter when they are misbehaving. They have a last 30 minutes dance part one boy dives on the floor and starts humping it. The DJ stops the music and says,"Keep it clean." Ha ha ha poor kid was mortified - hilarious! Cons - The vintage arcade games have not been cleaned and looked like they haven't been moved in 30 years. One reviewer said the carpet smells like dog urine she was very wrong it smells like cat pee instead. The strong ammonia smell that can only come from a cat is all you smell in the concessions and arcade area. The decorations on the walls are a time capsule of 1985. I seriously haven't seen that Garfield poster since I was very young but not only is the art work old it hasn't been dusted or removed from the walls for a cleaning. This place is a cesspool of bacteria that's multiplying and having crazy sex all over this dusty immobile games and art work. The carpet hmmmm it actually looks new but that's not possible because it stinks and the style of carpet hasn't been for sale in multiple decades. It also clearly hasn't been cleaned because in certain parts it's completely black. There's carpet in the bathroom.... nooooo how do you put carpet in a bathroom frequented by kids? Imagine if your middle school bathroom had carpet yeah, it's that bad. Even with all of the cons listed let's be honest there's a worse place you could send your kid on a Friday night. These people actually seem to care about the safety of kids and try to make sure they are safe. Yeah, it smells a wee bit but you know who doesn't complain about it, kids! Gosh this place was so great! I took a too-big-to-count group of kids here with a summer day camp many moons ago. The staff was incredibly helpful to the kids. Had our sons 11th birthday party here. He wanted an 80s theme with some Stranger Things mixed in. The DJ was awesome! We asked him to play some 80s music and he didn't just play the music, he gave me a whole history of music knowledge that was so cool to hear. The owners were incredibly nice and girls working the rooms where helpful and on top of everything. Pizza is pretty good and the kids ate it up. The worst customer service. I'm trying to book a party and I keep getting placed on hold and forgotten about. On four different occasions now they pick me up off of hold but then their other phone rings and they put me on hold for another 5 minutes. You can't beat the family fun had at Tinley Park Roller Rink. The wood floor is in great shape. The other areas show their age but if you are there for skating you'll be happy. My review is solely on the dj. Did not play any of our requests, we were there the entire 3 hours for adult skate, kept asking, no one else appeared to be requesting songs. First off, my legs are burning right now with the intensity of a thousand suns. After a 13 year hiatus from the skating scene, I decided to make my triumphant return at the Tinley Park Roller Rink. There was a fundraiser for PAWS animal shelter that night, so the place was packed. I will have to agree with the other reviewers about the dinginess of the place. Almost everything I touched to hold myself up was covered in a sticky goo of some sort. But seeing as how they employ the local youth and the elderly and probably paying them accordingly, I can't find myself complaining too much. The prices (admission, skate rental, food) are all great. You could bring a reasonable sized family here, have fun, and not break the bank. You get what you pay for though. The skates are in pretty bad condition. On all the pairs of skates I tried, the aglet (plastic shoelace cover) was missing, so lacing those babies up took more time than they should've. My date's right skate was missing the tongue (somehow she managed to skate without it)! The characters there that night were probably my favorite part of the night. Fat guys in their 50's skating like pros mesmerized me. My favorite was an old grandma wearing tight orange spandex leggings, chewing bubble gum and skating like she wasn't a day over 16. read more

The outside of the building looks like a closed-down banquet hall. What once were windows, now bricked over, and half of the shingles are missing from the roof. And while driving down the street looking for this place, you might just miss the teeny-tiny sign that states you've reached the Tinley Park Roller Rink. I know I wasn't expecting high-tech, but this place really shows (and smells,) its age. Upon entering, there was a sign for a skate party from 1999. And the smell in the entryway is musty. But they do take credit cards, so I guess they have made it to the 21st Century. A friend of ours had invited us out for the Thursday night open skate (7pm-9pm $10 w/skate rental.) It was great to feel, at least for 10 minutes, like a little kid again! (The next morning, I felt muscles aching that I haven't used since I was a kid!) If you can, bring your own skates (in-line skates welcome.) Do yourself a favor. They have plenty of skates to rent, but I think they are at least 20 years old, and take about 15 minutes to lace up. But I did have a good time whizzing around the rink, and they had a constant stream of 80's pop music blasting. And it was even better sitting down and watching the other full-grown adults who never grew out of their Xanadu stage. Especially when the wind up on their asses! Looks like the majority of the business that night came from the little private party nooks they had for rent. All five of them were full. There is also a snack bar, video games, and plenty of locker space. read more

I reintroduced myself to the rollerskating world on Saturday evening with my appearance at Tinley Park Roller Rink for a friend's birthday party (yeah, a 31 year-old's birthday party - it's how we roll). On one hand I was happy to see an old school skating rink still around (hello childhood) but thats about where the sentiments end. The music selection was pretty strange and the place smelled bad - a mixture of tween sweat and mold. The place is just not maintained well at all. The carpet is completely gross throughout and the bathrooms are a tragedy. So nasty. The arcade games are pretty janky and the prizes are complete crap. The kitchen looked disgusting and made me regret the slice of pizza that I indulged in earlier that night. But my friends and I did have a good time, overall. But that's more because we're a fun bunch and for us to all be reliving our childhood on that wooden oval, it was priceless. read more

The pizza, glow sticks and goodie bags was on time in the middle of the party which gave us enough time to open gifts and eat. You get 3 hours for party time which is more than enough. This is my first review ever. But, I felt so strongly about this it led me here. This roller rink is horribly outdated, dark, sticky, totally dusty and smells like a zoo! Before you walk through the door you can smell the gagging/very strong scent of animals. I asked if they had cats in there, one of the workers said they had dogs. She seemed shocked asking if I could smell it. The smell literally makes you want to vomit! I don't know how anyone could eat in this place...I didn't want to talk and have my mouth open too long!! To the owner, you should be shame to have people paying astronomical prices for parties and not use any of those funds to clean and update this place. It needs a total renovation! There was even an old leak on one of the walls and they had the audacity to cover the mold with a poster. If I could give you a negative number rating I would. Skating is a great activity and my children love it. But, I refuse to bring my children back to your establishment or recommend anyone for parties until you make major improvement. Had my daughter's birthday party here - and also since it's the nearest rink to us we have gone a few times for the open skate as well. I used to visit this place as a teenager (think around the late 90's). I'm pretty sure that NOTHING has changed since then. Same dirty smelly carpet. Same mystery dog smells in the lobby. I swear it's even the same dude in the dj booth that also accepts payment at the entry! It's like a step back in time....in both good ways and bad. It's dirty. Straight up dirty. I don't think a rag has touched the place since I went in the 90's - and it wasn't all that clean back then either. Then there's the organizational issues. I booked a bday party there. Prices are very very reasonable! But if you don't call during active skate times, you get an answering service. The rink apparently is only staffed a few minutes before open skate starts and a few moments after it ends (clearly nobody is there cleaning the place up during the off hours or anything...) Anyways, if you get the answering service, they swear they will pass the info onto the rink when it opens. They don't. Either that, or the rink simply doesn't call back OR notate whatever changes you requested for the party. There were a ton of simple little things that just didn't make sense and were unnecessarily problematic with our party. Things like - we had 15 kids come. We ordered the hot dogs for their lunch so you think we'd get 15 hotdogs, right? Nope. 13. And each hot dog comes with a bag of chips. You think we got 15? No...well maybe 13 to go with the hot dogs? No. We got 11 bags of chips. Plates to serve them on? We got exactly 17. Which is good - except you know at a bday party you have cake too right? So better make sure none of those kids throw away their paper plates after their hotdogs because they need to reuse them. Was any of this a big deal? Neah. Did the rink fix the problems every time I encountered a new one and brought it to their attention? Yup. The thing is...this is incredibly easy and basic stuff. The rink could easily easily charge quite a bit more for bday parties (there were maybe 6 other parties going on simultaneously with ours - clearly they have some demand. I would say they could easily charge another $75/ basic party package and put at least SOME of those profits back into the place. Clean the place up a little (or a ton). Get some organization in daily management. Put up a much more visible sign. Advertise a little. This place could be booming. There's no rinks around. Kids are desperate for something different and fun - and parents are willing to not only pay, but to relive their own childhood days skating around and doing the hokey pokey! We'll go back. We always do. We just make sure to all shower when we get home. But every time I find myself looking around and thinking about how a little investment could turn this place into sooo much more. Prop up that saggy ceiling! Advertise! Seriously! Advertise! I like this place and don't want to see it close because it's old and nasty and nobody knows it's there! read more

First time here in many years! First time here with kids ranging 5-12. We had a great time and would go back again. The DJ plays a good "wedding mix" with fun all ages music. They did give a mini lesson on roller skating rules and tips for beginner skaters about an hour in. We had kids watch a quick 1minute YouTube video with suggestions. There were a lot of beginner skaters! Might be a good idea to have beginner skaters come early to practice. The music was fun, concession stand reasonable priced, nice people working there. What I didn't like... there was a bad strong smell in the foyer, I almost left. Luckily, the rest of the rink was fine. Looks like new carpet. Also, the rental skates are pretty used and old. Started going here after my current rink was sold and they got rid of the Roller rink. This is not a typical roller hockey rink but a "roller rink" with hockey nets. The floor is super grippy and the rink is smaller than a normal roller hockey rink. The "boards" are cinder blocks which can but rough sometimes. It's an okay place to keep fresh that's close to me to play. read more

Well, we came here today for the Fathers Day special. Oddly enough, the owner said that they were closed but they opened to appease another family. Okay? Anyways, we should've walked away the moment we approached the door, when we were hit with a strong smell of cigarettes. It only got worse! The inside of the facility smells of urine, the banister was soaked with what smelled like urine, & everything was outdated from at least 20 years. The owner was nice enough & the music was okay, until they played some explicit songs with young children skating. I guess there's good reviews for this place on google but it's not accurate. I'll admit it - spinning around the rink was a total flashback to my childhood and I had moments of glory as I passed up kids with my amazing moves. It was like 5th grade all over again and I was a speed queen, skating to Walk Like an Egyptian. But wait! Was it really a flashback? Or was I stuck in some sort of time warp? This place hasn't actually changed *at all* since I skated there as a young 'un. By that, I mean I am fairly certain no one has cleaned this place in at least 30 years. Maybe more. Everything is dated and filthy. Surfaces are sticky, decor is firmly situated in the early 80s. It's dark, but not in a romantic, "couples-skate" way. More like a dark, dank and possibly harmful to your health kind of way. The Doberman behind the ticket counter is a nice touch and speaks volumes about the place. Bathrooms are sketchy. Bring your own skates, because the skates there are exactly the same ones I rented as a 10 year old...its amazing they haven't completely decayed yet. And the music selection felt questionable. I was there with our Catholic school group and the DJ seemed oblivious - I'm not super uptight about things but I don't really need my elementary school kids hearing booty call music. The truth is, I had fun, but that's because I like roller skating and I loved holding my daughter's hand as she improved her abilities and balance. If they would just do minimal re-investing in their business (or had they been doing so all along), TP Roller Rink would be on my list of places to visit.
