They had ice-skating shows every other hour and places to warm yourself; like log fire pits as well as cabin tents that had heaters. It was really nice to enjoy all the attractions and the lights without having to fight people for space. It was quite easy to take photos of all the decorations too. I paid for entry and ice skating, and while I'm not much of a skater myself, I had a nice time on the rink! If you're a more distinguished skater, you might want to bring your own skates, but I have a feeling you'd be doing that anyway! The bumper cars were surprisingly funny and I had a good time figuring out the control configuration that would let me optimize rear-ending my sister as much as possible. The things they have on sale, nutcrackers, candies, hats and sweaters, were surprisingly well priced. The food and drinks were also well priced. In Fulton Market, at a pop-up, you become a little cynical and expect insane pricing but it actually was quite fair. I picked up some cute cookie tins as a last minute gift. All in all, the Jack Frost pop-up was a lovely surprise and with its excellent location in Fulton Market, you have plenty of dinner options for later! I do highly recommend a weeknight to avoid crowds!

There's no lighting in part of the store and the counters at the front looked like a salvation army with their disorganization. In short, they don't answer the phone, the people across the company don't know what inventory they have and feed you disinformation and their store was dirty and overpriced compared even to the chain stores. It was a better experience by far and that really surprised me.

Johnny's has street and garage parking (2 bucks) and a regulation size hockey rink. They have four spacious, heated locker rooms with showers, all of which are kept very clean (impeccable by hockey standards.) There's also a branch of Gunzo's pro-shop upstairs (albeit with really weird hours) to get your skates sharpened, pick up some new sticks, or other gear. And, of course, what's a hockey rink without a bar? The Stanley Cub upstairs is a full service bar with reasonable prices, free popcorn, and some regular bar food (hot dogs and frozen pizzas.) As for on-ice activities, Johnny's has 6 or 7 men's leagues, going all the way up to the Elite league which has well-sponsored teams, a very high level of play, and a pretty intense all-star game. They have youth leagues, figure skating, and men's rat hockey 5 days a week around lunch time. You can also catch the Blackhawks or some other NHL teams practicing here occasionally as it's location is very convenient for the pros, being down the street from the United Center. The ice is usually very hard (unless Bill does it :P) and the management is friendly and does a good job.

My godson is a goalie on the Ice Doggs, a kid's team and was playing a game there on a Saturday. Most of his games are on days/times that I can't make, so I was happy to be able to see him live. The facility has underground parking, but I can see that it can fill up quickly as there are games going on all day and well into the night. As a matter of fact, when we were leaving, there were cars already sitting there waiting for folks from the last game to leave. Cost to park is $2 and they do take wallet payments. It was nice that we could park in the lot and enter directly into the building. The main rink was on the first floor as well as the locker rooms. Seating and the bar was on the second floor. Seating was bleacher style, but not too bad on the backside. The bar was pretty basic, just one white wine (Sauvignon Blanc), so I got a vodka and ginger ale with some lime juice...$8 which was not bad. Bartender was nice and they are cashless for payment but prefer cash for tips. The rink is affiliated with the Blackhawks, so there was a sign that stated the rink is an official partner of theirs. As for the game, I had so much fun watching my godson get 20 saves and his team won, 9-1 over the home team. The players looked as good as any adult skater and were skating as if on silk. There was one player that did a great hip check and got a penalty, but I shook his hand later in the locker room to tell him it had been executed excellently, even if it was not allowed. We went in to see my godson in the locker room, which was okay looking, clean. Didn't see any showers, but guessing they could be somewhere else? As we were leaving , there was an adult locker room next door and players suited up for their game. I could definitely come back to see my godson play here again, it was a good time

My son walks fine on the ice, but the instructor didn't bother to get close to him, encourage him and challenge him to step out of his comfort zone to move faster. When we talked to the instructor, what they said is "then why other kids can skate?" I was so shocked to hear that, isn't it because the kids who need more help have to find another teacher who can really help them??!! My friend's son had the same situation and she warned me not to take Johnny's class because it's waste of time. I really regretted that I didn't listen to her advise as Johnny's is close to our home. So I would say, if your kid doesn't have fear on ice, it's ok to take their course, the instructor can give them a bit instruction. but if your kid's personality is very cautious, Johnny is definitely not a good choice. It's a waste of money.

Playing up there with the Chicago skyline in the background makes it feel like a special event automatically -- especially around sunset and under the lights.
