I feel that this business has people best interest at heart but maybe to a fault. I went in and they had me stand on a scan machine. They proceeded to tell me the scan machine said I wore a size 10. Whoa, I been wearing a size 9 my entire life except when buying from china and they only have half sizes. So I have wore some size 9 1/2 before but a 10? Lady helping me says "let me just get some 10's and if you don't like them you can fire me". Well, I'm pretty sure this is a waste of time but go ahead. Size 10 on my foot and there 3/4" from my big toe to the tip of the shoe and I got 1/2" side to side. The shoe was like I was gonna be participating at the circus! lol. SO I said no, lol, I'm not interested in a size 10. She went into the spill of how I wouldn't receive the warranty bla bla bla. Im like I'm just here to buy a shoe I wasn't looking for a warranty or a new size. She grabbed the shoes and we sorta went our separate ways. Im sure had I requested certain shoes at a certain size they would have done it but I was kinda put off already so we just left. I did go to the Sacramento location and it was great. I did come back to the Modesto location to return some items from Sacramento and they were very good assisting me. read more

I got back into running late last year and have been looking to upgrade my running shoes. Someone recommended to have my feet scanned at Fleet Feet so I decided to give it a try. I'm so glad I did. I was welcomed in and greeted as soon as I entered the store. It only took a couple of minutes before having Bobby help me to scan my feet and try on several different brands of shoes until I found the best one for my needs. He took the time to answer all my questions and gave me some really great advice. The prices are great as well. I highly recommend. read more

This is a mixed review. For my fiancé she got great treatment. She was fitted and he explained her results showing her everything on the iPad. He spent well over an hour with her. Five sets of shoes to try on etc. However, I feel like a lot of time was wasted. The salesperson kept stopping to listen to other conversations around the store. He even said I'm nosy. At one point he was answering his text on his Apple Watch from his mom who he said was In Disneyland. He also made a comment that he's pretty cocky because he can fit someone by just seeing them walk. I could careless if your nosy. If your mom is at Disneyland. I'm coming in to get fitted and buy shoes. She ended up choosing a pair he didn't recommend. My turn. I asked if I could get fitted he said sure. I did it and he disappeared. When he returned he didn't bring g the iPad. In fact he didn't know where it was. I was curious what my results were but he didn't show me anything. He indicated that he remembered numbers and threw them at me like I should just understand. Okay. He said you need a wide shoe which I knew because I have gout and Bunyan's. He came out with one pair. Maybe that's all I had to choose from but it was a 1/2 size smaller than what I wear. Now... he preached to my fiancé that she need room to breathe in her shoes. That buying a bigger size is the way to go. But for me, he tries ti squeeze me in a shoe that doesn't fit. It's too tight and clearly he knows nothing about gout and the pain that comes with it. I can't be in a shoe that squeezes my feet. I told him that. Eventually he said he could get the same shoe in Stockton as 10 1/2. That's the size I need. The last pair I bought was that same size and brand from this store. Today I got two paid of shoes and an insert in Stockton. $366. I knew it would be pricey but I'm ok with that. I really felt like I got bad service. My fiancé was taken care but it took way to long with all his distractions. There really isn't a lot of other options in this area to get what I need. Where do I start... This place was recommended by a worker at Big 5. My daughter made it to Jr. Olympics at her school and then regionals. We shopped EVERYWHERE to find track shoes with cleats but had zero luck. Regionals were less than 3 days away and I was almost in a panic. Myself and the fam drove 50 minutes out to Modesto to this place and although it doesn't look terribly fancy on the outside, the inside had some of the most coolest items ever. Fleet Feet offers various running shoes such as daily wear shoes, high jump shoes, long distance running shoes, sprint running shoes, walking shoes and more. The technology they have such as this awesome 3-D scanner that basically scans your feet was thrilling to watch. I hadn't realized but my daughters feet were two different sizes. WOWZERS! To see the 3-D scan alone is worth the drive. Lol.... Anyway, the staff was extremely helpful! They had shoes shipped from one store to another for us. There was an African American man who works here; (sorry can't remember his name) but he runs professionally and he offered my daughter some wise words and he really listened and pin-pointed everything she would need to be exceptional on her race day and boy did it work. She won 1st place in her run. She stated with his tips and all the gear we purchased here made a huge difference. We ended up buying track shoes, leg compression socks because she suffered from shin-splints and another item. If you need shoes at an affordable cost; and want exceptional customer service that meets your exact needs, Fleet Feet is the place I recommend. I could go on and on... 500 Thumbs up! Donovan was very helpful and patient with me as I tried on 6 (maybe more) pairs of shoes. He was very knowledgeable on each brand and was able to find what best fit my needs coming off an injury and increasing mileage. We had a very disappointing experience at Fleet Feet on 11/28/2025. My husband signed up to get assistance and waited patiently for an available salesperson. When someone finally came over, he spoke to us briefly and instructed my husband to have a seat, remove shoes, and wait while he grabbed the iPad to measure his feet. Unfortunately, the salesperson never returned. Instead he went to help another customer and completely abandoned us. We waited for assistance that never came, and ultimately left without receiving any help at all. read more

I like what this store has to offer, but this is the 2nd time I've been in, and none of the employees ever acknowledged when someone comes into the store. Whether they're busy or not, good customer service is saying hello, and we'll be with you in a min or let me know if you need any help. The main reason for my 5 star review is that the owner or manager personally delivered my shoes to me in Turlock because I had paid for expedited shipping. came here to try on some shoes. kaia (not sure on the spelling) helped me to try on some shoes. after several shoes, i found one that i liked the fit. i just didn't like the color and we ended up ordering it online. but i wanted to acknowledge kaia for her help and patience!!! like she has all the time in the world, just for you. you don't get rushed to try on shoes and be given something you don't like. she's a real gem!!! read more

I have been using Fleet Feet for 25 years now. Started at the Stockton store and move to Modesto store once it opened. I refer all my co workers, family and friends to Fleet feet to get PROPERLY fitted for shoes whether it's for work, everyday or fitness. The last few times we have been in the customer service isn't the same. In the past, your foot was measured, the way you stand and walk lwas evaluated, you were asked about your activity for the purchase, and any problems you might have. Shoes were brought out based on the all of this information. A lot of education was provided. Now you're greeted with "what size are you and what shoe are you looking for". If I knew the answer to this, I'd be ordering from amazon and having it delivered. Every year shoe manufacturers are tweaking the shoe so, just because I liked the Hoka Bondi 7 doesn't mean I like the Hoka Bondi 8. The first time I went into a Fleet Feet to be fitted, I thought I wore an 8.5 but in a running shoe I actually needed at 10. The sales person actually knew I had had some type of injury to my leg before I even told him about my ACL surgery. I went from hating running to running half marathons because I was finally in the right shoe. Donovan at the Modesto store has always provided this service but I haven't seen him in awhile. I miss the old level of customer service. read more

I started running again a few months ago and decided to get some new shoes after experiencing knee pain and blisters on my feet. I left with appropriate shoes, insoles, socks and even a new pair of sandals. They have served me well with hundreds of miles so definitely worth the cost. The staff was kind, attentive, personable and knowledgeable. The store was clean, well stocked and perfect for any runner. No question this place deserves 5 stars. This place is such an asset to walkers and runners in the Modesto area. The employees provide great customer service and express genuine care for finding shoes that are right for you. My mom and I left very satisfied with our shoes thanks to the two women working there. Njavwa asked me questions about how much I run, what running shoe brands that I wear, and whether I noticed any problems with my knees, ankles, lower back, etc. I tried on the compression socks (which are extremely comfortable btw), the Superfeet insoles, and three pairs of shoes from different brands. I got to walk and lightly jog in them to find which one was the best fit for me. I enjoyed my experience here and will definitely come back when I'm in need of new running shoes again. read more

My husband and I have been going here for years. The staff, especially Donovan, is incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. They go above and beyond to meet the needs of their customers. In a recent experience, I mentioned that I needed something to clean my bladder tubing and Donovan mentioned that he had recently purchased a combo cleaning set but only needed the bottle cleaning brush. This place is really great for insoles. They are really in tune to which insoles and shoes best fit you for how you walk/run . They are not as thorough with the test as they used to be but they are still a great place to solve your aches and pains. What I really love is they are open Saturday and Sunday for those with a busy schedule. read more

Today I went to the Modesto store for the first time. It was approximately 3:30 on a Sunday. It was busy. When I walked in I did not see the "Sign In Here" sign placed on a table with products all around it. Very small sign. I stood around for a minimum of 20 minutes when I approached a sales person and suggested a number system would be a good idea. Feeling the sales staff can't possibly see the order in which customers arrive since it is so busy. We've asked the "owner" to do that, several times, but it would ruin the feel of the store and make it like a Deli. He informed me of the sign up front. I replied I didn't see it, it was my first time there and I just saw how busy it was. It was kind of an "Oh well response." Other people were walking in as I was talking. I signed in and one name was above me. A rep went right past me (the second one) to some people that had been there about 4 minutes and asked if they needed help. Not looking at the sign in by the way. Right past me..... There were two specifically that knew I'd been there unless they were blind. I had traveled from another city for HOKA'S. I was planning on purchasing two pair. I would rather shop at a Deli than be invisible like I felt today. The people said, "Oh, we don't mind if she goes ahead." I said, "I don't like how this store feels. I'm not purchasing anything here." I left and you lost a potential customer. read more

Did not feel the associate was really overly helpful or sharing knowledge or insight as to what shoe would be best. I was rather intimidated by the whole process going into as a new "jogger/runner." Felt tinges of judgemental stares by our associate. If all I needed was to try on shoes I could have done that anywhere. All I felt was different was the "sizing" process. Was given only three options for shoes and basically just asked, "which one do you like best?" Literally the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned. I tell all my friends it's like walking on pillows. I walk on a cement floor all day at work and these shoes make my feet feel great. I have really high arches and could do with a little more arch support, but I recently found out they sell inserts, so I will be visiting them again soon to see if I can find something to help a little more with my arches. I would highly recommend them to everybody, not just people who are having problems with their feet. The shoes are worth every penny you pay for them. read more

I came across this place because I was looking at buying some insoles on Amazon and realized that trying them in person really made way more sense. The insole website listed Fleet Feet as a retailer. This place is fantastic. It's really clean and the merchandise is organized in a way that isn't overwhelming the way a Dick's or something can be. I get the impression that everything in there is a great product. Njavwa (silent N) was so friendly and nice, and very thorough. She measured, analysed my gait, had me try two different types of insoles in shoes, had me walk around, etc. It was obvious that this was not your run of the mill shoe clerk. I learned that I have low arches, which collapse completely when I stand. Luckily, she knew exactly what to do about it! I went in there for insoles and left with those, a new pair of shoes and some badass compression socks that I'm probably going to need about 10 more pairs of.
