I have to say I never thought my foot pain would be better by inserts. I've had pain to where I limped with every step for 6 months. I had an MRI. I've seen doctors, tried countless inserts, different orthopedic shoes, and then I was sent to Kip. This is a great man who knows how to help with your foot pain. He even had me come back after 2 weeks to look at the inserts I bought and then modified them! It's hard to find a person who actually cares nowadays. Great store with friendly staff. I've been buying Oofos flip flops from them for a couple of years. They are literally the most comfortable and overall, best set of flip flops I've ever owned! In fact, every time I'm with friends or a acquaintances, I'll have them try my Oofos on. With the last pair I purchased in May of 2018, I recently tore the front thong immediately making them useless. Since they were fairly new in condition, they happily replaced them for me. Thank you! I've been purchasing shoes in this store for YEARS.. went there last week to purchase a heel riser and after being told I could "try" them.. the associate said I had to purchase them. I had specifically said "oh, I can try them?" And she said yes. (Making sure they'd work) Obviously, she hadn't listened to me and I ended up buying them because I didn't want to cause a scene. I'll never go back.. the riser I had to buy went in the garbage (19.00) and I bought 4 from Amazon for the price of the ONE from "shoes that fit".. I always try to spend my money at my local establishments.. but when you have a rude salesperson that sells you something that doesn't work.. and she knew it, well that means I'm not longer a supporter.. On 11/09/2021 my wife and I visited the Shoes That Fit store on McHenry in Modesto, CA on the recommendation of my podiatrist. After a ten-minute wait, I presented the prescription to the clerk to determine the best shoe for my condition. Initially the clerk was attentive, informative and courteous. He measured my foot and brought out four different pairs of shoes for my consideration. The first was not a good fit, the second was a velcro (old man) style shoe which I rejected as well. I told him it was not what I was looking for and did not want to sit down and try it on. He suddenly became angry, slammed the product onto the floor and remarked, "What the hell am I doing here? You wander around the store, won't pick a shoe and use your hand to size the shoe. Get the "f... out of the store." My wife asked him to refrain from using profanity, all we were doing was shopping for the right pair of shoes, and I no need for that type of language. He became even more agitated and screamed at us " F... you, get the f... out of my store. You don't even live in the 20th century and wasted my time." He walked toward me in an aggressive manner and again profanely ordered me out of his store. I am a retired, disabled Marine. After years of teaching and training martial arts, my feet and hands have become painfully arthritic. In good faith I was following my doctor's orders and visiting the recommended store, and received such abysmal treatment it shocked both my wife and me. He spoke to us profanely, approached me in a threatening manner when I questioned his behavior, and used loud and threatening language. Sad little man, knowing that we would respond in neither a verbal or physical manner, and pushing the incident to the breaking point. A friend of mine suggested that I get a pair of MBT shoes. She said that they would help to strengthen my legs and help to stop the pain in my lower back. I have always walked kind of funny and bent forward at the waist. I purchased a pair of these shoes and have now worn them for over a year. My legs have strengthened to the point where I can now walk 10 miles a day with no cane and my back pain has gone away. I now walk straight with my head up. Amazing what you can see with your head in an upright position. The person who waited on me that day fitted the shoes to me. He was not satisfied until the shoes fit me right. I now own 2 pair of them and I wear them every day. They are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. I am on my feet all day long at work and if these shoes ever wear out, I will buy more. So far they show no wear and tear. They are pricey but well worth the money. read more

This place carries shoes that are intended to be good for your feet, so that being said its certainly a bit difficult to find something that isn't Fugly. Unfortunately i have size 10-10.5 feet, and they are a bit wide. 10.5 doesn't exist in most women's shoes so that's why i came to this store in the 1st place. I ended up purchasing a pair of Keen's and Montrail sandals. LOVE them. They are fairly cute shoes but more that anything I needed something that could get me through a full day of standing and walking. I've never been able to do that, but i took both shoes to Las Vegas and I was totally impressed. I lasted all day no foot pain!!! It was amazing! What makes this place different is that you get personal sales assistance. they size your foot, they make recommendations. I even stood on something that mapped the way my feet distribute my weight and the type of arch i have. It was pretty cool. Overall I'm planning to go back to try to find a summer appropriate flat shoe for work, and i know finding something that doesn't make my feet look like boats is the challenge, but the comfort factor is what they take care of for you at this store. read more

David magically found a pair of shoes that work with my orthotics and don't hurt my feet! I've been going to him for a few years now, purchasing the same shoes. What's more, he advised me to change the type of socks I wear, which not only improved comfort, but allowed my shoes to have a much longer life before wearing out. Had to wait 20-25 minutes while clerk, maybe owner-very cocky individual, had to tend to another customer. This would normally be ok but the shoes were for my mom who is elderly and disabled in a wheelchair. After he finally got around to us, he started helping someone else...he could have done that with us but only said once ill be right with you. While my mom was trying on the shoes, he was short with us and i could tell he was getting impatient. My mother got disgusted with him and now thinks that all shoe salesmen are like that. I was lucky to get her out of the house, now she is stuck with the same 15 year old shoes she wont get rid of. read more

My 82 year old mother came in to buy a certain kind of shoes for her feet and told the salesman what they were. He totally steered her away from the ones she asked for, and talked her in to a very expensive pair of New Balance shoes. Then he proceeded to sell her inserts and take her for every dollar he could get out of her. She was not happy with them once she got home and walked around with them. She went back the next day to see if she could exchange them or get her money back, and they refused both. I hate that this sales person preys on a 82 old senior just to make his commission, and then for the store not to exchange or give her her money back, is pretty sad. I asked her why she has inserts in them and she said he told her she needed them. I know times are hard with Covid, but to totally take advantage of my senior mom is just appalling. I will be getting in touch with corporate to voice my disgust with this store and management. read more

This was the most fun I've ever had buying shoes. The shoe salesman, David Burtch, was friendly, relaxed, super knowledgeable, and not pushy. The sizes weren't available in the earth shoes I wanted at first, but he found a pair of shoes in the back that I loved, and I've been wearing them ever since. (A grey pair of Keen's). Also, I've never regretted paying more for good shoes that are comfortable and good for your posture. I have literally never had sore feet since wearing these types of shoes. Mr. Burtch also has a cool moustasche and liked the Muppet Movie. My guess is no two of his conversations are alike. read more

Cost is so important. Quality is super important. Isn't value the most important? It seems like I was a child the last time a "shoe salesman" fitted me for a pair of shoes....looked at my size on those metal things that have sliding things for length and width, and actually sat there and put the shoe onto my foot. It was almost uncomfortable to be served so kindly. What store does that any more??? I do tend to try to "catch a sale", but I'm so happy with every pair of shoes I've come away with. My mom (close to 70 now) for the last 10 years seems to always have ugly shoes, "but they're SO comfortable" she says. It's true that not all very comfy shoes are cute. It's also true that not all comfy shoes are ugly!!!!! I'm having so much fun in my cute comfy shoes, and since it's so nice to go to a store with such amazing customer service, I'll continue to give them my business! My first and DEFINITELY last time coming here. I came here because my husband bought his shoes here. I wanted a pair of orthotic shoes but in white which they didn't have so they special ordered it. They told me they would call me once it arrived. A week go by and no call. Two weeks go by still no shoes. "I" called the Monday of the third week and their response "no shoes yet". The end of that same week I called and they said the same thing, no shoes. I called back the next week and they told me what they received the wrong shoes but they are overnighting my shoes. The next day I called, still no shoes. I don't think they understood the meaning behind OVERNIGHT delivery. A couple of days later, still no shoes. Yesterday I called and they told me that the shoes were backordered. WHAAAAAT? Today, while running an errand, I picked a pair of orthotic shoes some place else is seconds and went back to this shoe store and got a refund. Will I return to this place? HELL NO. If they were honest from the beginning instead of "dangle a piece of cheese in front of me", I would have understood the whole situation and even maybe come back when they had my shoes or even bought an alternate but instead they lost my business FOR GOOD. I'd rather buy my next shoes at Payless Shoe store before coming back here. read more

PROS: I like this store. I found it about 4 yrs ago, or more... give or take. I so wish I would have found it even sooner though!! The name of the store just doesn't sound quite obvious to me that this was no "ordinary" shoe store. However, their Stockton store DOES have a more appropriate name: Foot Solutions. RIGHT?? ;-) Anyway, this is no ordinary shoe store. If you or a loved one have foot problems or want shoes that actually do what they are *supposed* to do, instead of JUST putting a layer between you & the ground, then this is the place for you!! Their shoes are supportive, high quality, long lasting cushion, great arch support, correct over pronation, movement control, help with plantar fasciitis, etc. Sure, you can expect to pay more, a LOT more in fact, but it is worth it!! We have a tight budget & we can't REALLY afford these shoes, but it's not like I'm buying fancy heels to be pretty here. I'm buying shoes SO THAT I CAN actually function & get around all day without more injury to my feet. (I have plantar fasciitis.) I buy these shoes to keep my feet from hurting, again- which keep me being able to go ALL day, when I need to. Like others have mentioned, yes, it is WONDERFUL to get such great service & to have help getting the shoes you need just for you, & get them fit for you as well. I will say though, that David (Burtch- I believe)- is the salesman who has helped me since I first walked in the door yrs ago, and I always try to go when he is there. If he isn't there, the service isn't NEARLY as good. He's friendly, cheerful, knowledgeable, & very helpful. He shows that he really cares; vs some other associates don't seem to care so much, nor are as knowledgeable & helpful. They can make you feel more like an inconvenience. If it wasn't for David, I may have never came back, as the other employees just so seem to care as much, and their impatience & lack of truly caring, shows. David should get a big raise in his pay. It's him who keeps the business coming back. (I say this as a customer. I never knew David before coming in for shoes.) Anyway, great shoes, great store, great service (if you get David.) ;-) (Please note the store has moved from Orangeburg & Oakdale Rd TO McHenry Village Shopping Center.) ******************************************************* CONS: The thing that has been a continual problem with this store is their return policy. They say that you can return it if you've only worn them (lightly) around the house, NOT indoors, yet even when you bring them back all clean, & lightly worn around the house, they still say they can't take it back. The other thing is you ONLY have 14 days to return your shoes, after having spent just an arm & a leg for them. It takes awhile to wear a shoe & see if you're going to be able to get used to it. Life also gets very busy & difficult to return in 14 days. So keep in mind!! I now have TWO $150 pairs of shoes that I can't return NOR wear!! NOT happy now!! read more

After checking out their web site, I drove 45 miles to go to this store. The response to my email request about a catalog (print or online) was not helpful but since they specialize is fitting people with foot problems I thought in person would be better. Boy was I disappointed! They were having a sale but there was only one other customer in the store. A male employee began helping me to find shoes that would accommodate a brace for my left foot; I specifically requested a black or dark shoe since the brace is black and most of my pants are dark in color. I needed to size up 1 1/2 - 2 sizes in order to accommodate the brace so I requested a lace up style in order to accommodate the other foot (normally I wear a narrow shoe). He brought out 2 pairs of shoes - one was a white athletic shoe! I asked if those were the only styles I had to choose from and he said no and went to get other styles - he NEVER came back! No explanation. The female employee took up - I attempted to tell her that the curved seam across the toes seemed to be the reason the shoe was hurting with the brace on - she totally ignored my comments. I requested a shoe that was on display - no curved seam - I could tell it would work but it really needed to be 1/2 size larger - she told me it was discontinued. Although they were in the middle of a sale (and this discontinued shoe was not on sale) she said she could not order it. The service and demeaning verbal comments were terrible. I went to Hy-Step Shoes a short distance away - they did not have the correct size either but offered to order it - it was NOT discontinued. read more

Purchased Finn Comfort sandal shoes and began to wear them, but kept on getting blisters in same place. I took the shoes back to store and the first response was, "I can't take these back". After recovering from the lack of customer service, I explained that there seemed to be an issue with the design, manufacture, etc. The response was, "No one else has complained". I further explained that my other two pairs of Finn's were great (and noted that I had just spent over $1,000 in the last 45 days at this store) but that it seems that I will not be able to wear these. The response was, "Let me soften these up for you by rubbing them". After doing so, he asked me to"Feel them and see if I could tell the difference and then try them on". I explained - and showed - him that I could not tell the difference and could not try them on because my latest wearing of the shoes had left me with blisters, still healing. No further comments for help, although he was ready to sell me a $20 moleskin kit. I told him that I did not want to have to wear bandaids or moleskin forever on a pair of shoes that cost me over $200. No response. I will take this up with the manufacturer (which is what the store's response, as some point, should have been). Bottom line: If you're going to spend top dollar for shoes at this store, you might as well find another retailer, because you will not get customer service after the sale. This store was recommended to me by my podiatrist, and after reading some positive reviews, I went there to buy a couple pair of special shoes. I wish my experience had been half as good as the reviews indicated. When I first entered I noticed a young girl just standing behind the counter and a young man talking on his cell phone. I went to the counter and expected to be asked what they could help me with. No such luck. The girl almost seemed like I was interrupting her day. I was never asked what I was looking for or if she could assist me in finding the right shoe. My wife a and I spent about ten minutes looking over what they had on display, finding several pairs I would have liked to try on. The girl never moved from behind the counter and the young man never got off the phone. During the time there, a more mature man joined the other two, but he never acknowledged our being there. We finally decided to leave. The girl did say "Bye" as we left. The older man never looked at us and the younger man was still on the phone. read more

The people working at this store really helped to fit me with the right shoe for the right occasion. They are very social and appear to know what they are talking about. I prefer to look around at shoes imagining what they would like with my clothes, try on several pairs until satisfied. They worked with me, no complaints, even called their other store when the shoe I wanted was not available in my size.
