That's not just shady, it's unethical and potentially illegal. They offered me $50 and a refund for the cleaning, as if that would cover the damage or excuse them for impersonating me and sending my property somewhere without asking. They take no accountability and try to gaslight their way out of every situation. They hide behind being a "small business," but that doesn't excuse this kind of behavior. Being a small business means you should operate with more integrity, not less. Save yourself the headache and go literally anywhere else.

I had a pocket fixed in a pea coat I love. I knew this was going to be a difficult job because the entire pocket would have to be replaced, and you had to do it without taking the lining off. She said it would be a week, which is fine since I knew this was going to be a hard fix. But when I picked up the jacket, the replaced pocket was wonderfully done. The material she chose was even better than the original pocket. I was extremely happy and impressed. I love this jacket and I was upset when the pocket ripped. Oh and the price? 30 bucks. Still not bad for something that took a few hours to fix. And still cheaper than a new pea coat. I've also used the dry cleaning service many, many times, along with having suits altered there. I've never had a problem and the prices are extremely reasonable. The ladies who work the counter are always so friendly. It really is a Chelsea gem. I recently had a fire in my home, resulting in smoke damage and the need for extensive cleaning of…read moreclothing, curtains, drapes, etc. I was referred to Sal's by my insurance company as I had been once before (see below). I cannot say enough for their professionalism, care and competence. The gentlemen who were sent to my home to inspect the damage were kind, careful and truthful about their concerns and my options. For example, I have some delicate curtains that hang in my diningroom and were finished by hand. Despite their warnings, I had no choice but to try have them cleaned. Sal's removed each ring by hand, carefully cleaned the curtains and re-sewed the rings. The curtains look gorgeous with no damage whatsoever. Everything has been returned in perfect condition, carefully wrapped and with no odor. As a side note, I'd had a very bad flood in my home some years back and had extensive mold damage. That was the first time I'd been introduced to Sal's. Their service was impeccable and I was very pleased to hear that they'd be sent out again for this job. I cannot recommend them highly enough. I cannot speak to their prices as their bills have been sent to my insurance company.

Therewasnoway to see what they were taking since they all went different directions. They emptied our closets and dressers. We had little idea what they took. No photos, lists or receipts. When they began to bring back our clothes, a LOT of items were badly stained and damaged. One expensive coat not only had several new stains but looked like a dog attacked it... giant rip. A brand new cashmere sweater, never worn, was torn and newly discolored. When we finally got back what they said was everything, we began to notice items missing. Many of them were expensive. Many hadn't been worn and still had tags. Sals was unresponsive for many weeks. They never provided an inventory, only got that provided by our insurer who sent us their invoice. Many items on that invoice were not returned! We lost $10k plus of our belongings not even counting the dozens of items damaged and severely stained. Horrible! Don't ever do business with this unscrupulous company!!!
