The food was delicious, 10/10 across the board. Definitely try their house bread/ corn bread. They have karaoke Thursday-Saturday (I believe) which is a fun vibe. The only problem is the service took very long and we would go by without a waiter for 30 minutes+ at a time. It was not a busy night either. But overall nice ambiance & good food. read more

Flavorture - Flavorture Pork Chops are absolutely amazing, and the house sauce was excellent. - Bars Near Me - Washington, DC, District of Columbia

Omgggg this is one of the BEST restaurants in DC. I celebrated by birthday this year at this establishment. I went for brunch. When you walk in, you hear great music and are greeted by the host. The decor is beautiful. You feel like you're walking into a celebrity event. We were taken to our table, which was decorated with birthday decorations. Our waitress was amazing! She let us know everything on the menu was delicious. I had crab cakes and they were so good. Portion sizes are very large. You get your money's worth. Now to the drinks. DELICIOUS!!!! There is karaoke and a live band on opposite Thursdays. A very cute date spot or a night out with your girls. A must experience!! read more

I love supporting my people and I will every chance I get.. This place is a vibeeeeee, a cute small vibe. The decor and lighting is everything. The food was pretty good. I had the salmon which was delicious! I also had the vegan egg rolls but didn't care for them that much. It was just the plant based meat in the egg roll wrapper. I would have loved cheese inside and onions, etc. It was also super cooked. Nevertheless, I enjoyed my meal. Our server was amazing, I can't remember her name (writing this review weeks later). Parking was hectic, but that's everywhere in DC. I parked at the hotel so definitely go that route. Overall a good time, I'm not sure I'll return and that's simply because I've experienced it. read more

This place was very unprofessional. We came to DC out of town and wanted to support black owned businesses. Online they state you have to place a deposit for x number of guests and that amount would be deducted from our bill. We paid $160. the restaurant confirmed our reservation the day before but told us to contact open table because THEY didn't have their money yet. When contacting open table, they said this is not an issue of the customer but the manager needs to call opentable. As we arrive to the restaurant, we were seated and our waiter assured us that our deposit is taking care of. When we get the bill, the $160 was not taken care of. Clearly the establishment does not understand their partnership with open table and should reevaluate their policy online if they can't adhere to their own standards. Very upset and will never be back. It was poorly handled and they don't lead with the customer is right after the billing statement and confirmation was given to show PROOF OF PAYMENT. Do better and fully read contracts before deciding to use a third party for help because you can't handle reservations on your own as an establishment. read more

Pretty interior.. parking is a little difficult.. Food is a 3.7 out of 5.. limited menu and a little pricy. The cornbread was a 5 out of 5. We were seated in good time but the wait for the food was kinda long.., I got a tea and never got a refill like never... and the waiter like never came to the table.. Saying all this I will say in their defense it was packed so that may have something to do with it.. again the food was pretty good.. I had salmon mac and cheese .. it's like ala carte u gotta buy the sides separate.. my fiance got a leg quarter and mashed potatoes and he said it was pretty good..again don't let my experience stop you.. here in dc it's a common trend amongst the restaurants particularly black owned.. a lil tweaking and they will be just fine read more

Came here for my birthday dinner and I'll be honest I was a little nervous that it may be one of those aesthetic places that dress for Instagram. We left with a great start to our night and will definitely be back. One of the biggest draws with the vegan options and I enjoyed the eggrolls, as well as the tacos, I will note that the servings were a little bit small, but our server did not notify us before that those dishes were more tapas style. They brought a little sign for my birthday and a cake without us even asking. We were seated quickly and the service was outstanding. Absolutely recommend. read more

I had a good time here, there was a private event and birthday (party of 6-8) when i dined here. They put a special song on when they took the birthday girl her dessert which was so cute. Unfortunately all of this meant our(party of 2) service was a bit slow. They did keep us updated and were apologetic about it! The food was great I would recommend the wings and cornbread app! And our whiskey sours were phenomenal!! We went on whiskey Wednesday. I would come back next time and sit at the bar for HH! read more

I stopped in here for a nightcap with coworkers, and it was the perfect place for it. Wednesdays are Whiskey Happy Hour all day - $7 whiskey cocktails, $5 whiskey shots, and even small plate specials. The amount of truffle park fries you receive for $4 is amazing, and the green tea cocktail whiskey cocktail is not only good, but strong! My coworker ordered the jackfruit tacos, and after a bite, did admit they could be better. However, their Buffalo shrimp was a redeeming order! The ambiance is wonderful, with all black walls & green velvet accents, and the lighting was perfect for a late night catch up. Our server was friendly, but drinks did take a while. However, i acknowledged she was the only server & for one person in a place like that, i was impressed with her turnaround time. I'd recommend this place, especially on Wednesdays! read more

Was pleasantly surprised by how great our experience was. We had a reservation and were seated right away into a back room that was nice and intimate. Good music and vibes. Food was also really good! Only con is that the main courses took a while to come out and the waiter wasnt attentive to our water needing refills. But really enjoyed the experience overall and will be back. A lot of places like this are all aesthetics and not good food lol but this food was genuinely a hit! read more

Had dinner here on a Thursday and it was karaoke night so that was definitely enjoyable. I had the mussels as a starter, lamb chops and mashed potatoes and cheesecake for dessert. I can honestly say they were all delicious. Also made reservations and I was sat immediately after arriving and I chose to sit at the bar and was blessed with great service. read more

The food was mediocre at best and didn't arrive to the table hot. The lobster and crab scampi pasta was not seasoned well and the pasta itself had no flavor. The kale salad was heavily dressed. The Buffalo shrimp was tasty and I did enjoy the 24th street cocktail. The restaurant was relatively empty on a Saturday night which should've been the first clue that the experience would be subpar. There was an issue settling the check for our party which was not properly explained when we first sat down to dine. There was no attempt for a resolution and a lackluster response from management. I would not recommend this establishment if you are searching for a fine dining experience. read more

I would love to give this place 5 stars. Let's just break down what is needed here: Food - I ordered blackened salmon and grits with a side of Brussel sprouts. I'd rate the entire meal a 10. It was fresh, hot and full of flavor. Service - I sat at the bar and the servers were a bit slow but I was understanding considering it was a Saturday night. They were busy but time was on my side so I didn't complain. Drinks - I believe our bartender was a novice and that's ok (sometimes). I ordered a Henny sidecar and they tasted differently every time. I made it work tho. Ambiance - the inside was nicely decorated with a Mardi Gras theme. Not sure if this changes by the season or not but it was definitely the scene for a few social media pics. The noise level was just right. Location - I highly recommend you taking Uber or Lyft. The parking is awful and the restaurant is extremely difficult to find at night. If you blink, you'll miss it. I'd definitely go back! read more

3/5 It's a cool environment but the food is definitely overpriced. I went with friends on a Wednesday. Service took a while and nothing was particularly spectacular. We did enjoy the cornbread and everybody liked their drinks. For an entree I had the blackened salmon which was fine but just not worth the price with an automatic 22% service fee. It's unlikely I'll return read more

I highly recommend trying Flavorture, located in the Woodley Park area of D.C. For appetizers, we tried the vegan egg-rolls and the corn bread. The cornbread was very sweet, almost like a desert. For my entree, I ordered the grilled lobster and blue crab scampi which was over linguine. The lobster was fresh and the entire dish was flavorful, and the food came out piping hot which is always a plus. The sides were pretty tasty and sharable. My favorite side was the brussels sprouts! I ordered 1 cocktail, the D.C. mule and it was just mediocre, wasn't sweet at all. The service was great especially for a restaurant that is newly opened. The ambiance was vibrant, with good music playing through the restaurant. I will definitely be back! read more

Excellent flavorful food! Food took a while but was excellent. The chef mentioned they also cater so we took her card.

I came here for lunch while at a conference across the street. I ordered mussels. They never came. I reminded the wait staff numerous times. They told me it would come. They did take it off the bill and it did arrive evetually right close to when I had to leave to return to Conference. I would think twicce before returning there and instead next day ate next door at Old City. read more

I finally got the opportunity to try this spot for a Sunday brunch. It's not a terribly large location but a decent venue, blacked out decor with a long bar and a couple TV's above with table seating to the right side of it as you walk in. There were two individuals greeting guests as they arrived one or both may have been management which is always nice to see. Their brunch menu consists of starters like kale salads, oysters, deviled eggs, and jerk wings, taco and burger options, and entrees like French toast, snow crab legs, and deep fried lobster Mac and cheese with prices ranging from $18-$55 depending on the item. Beverages range from brunch mugs ($16) that come in flavors such as rum punch and mai tai and then there's the more traditional mimosa option either by the glass or in the form of pitchers ($35). I sat at the bar and decided to try the steak and eggs dish ($32) which comes with an 8oz ribeye, 2 eggs, and garlic and herb roasted potatoes and went with the rum punch mug beverage. It wasn't too packed at this particular time of brunch but service at the bar wasn't the greatest even with it being a limited amount of patrons sitting at it, it took quite a bit of time between getting to order a beverage and then food and at this time there was only one bartender working behind the bar and she seemed to be a little disheveled at times may have been a newer staff member not sure but this is just for overall context. The rum punch was decent a good amount of alcohol but definitely make sure you're a person who's into super sweet drinks as this option would cater to you. The food came out timely and the entire dish was delicious: the potatoes well seasoned, and the steak was cooked to perfection and flavorful. They also had a DJ available who was on point playing a mix up of old and modern r&b and hip hop music. Overall good ambiance and vibe, and the food items were excellent, I'm just a stickler for good service (hence the rating) but I'd encourage you to give them try. read more

Let's just start by saying that to book a reservation, you must put down a deposit that is applied to your bill. There's an automatic 22% service fee added to all checks, and there's a 90-minute time limit for all guests. The ambiance is sub-par for the establishment to be fairly new. I booked a reservation for 9:15pm and was not sat until 10:00pm. The establishment was very short staffed. I can say that the owners definitely were working their fingers to the bone once my party was seated. They gave a complementary bottle of bubbly (champagne) to accommodate for the lateness. Ms.Reddick and Mr.McAlister definitely made their presence known in the establishment and were extremely hands-on and somehow turned a terrible beginning of the night into a great night for my guest. Now on to the meat and potatoes... the food was amazing. Hands down the menu and the flavor combinations were well thought about. The house bread is a must-have, and the bone-in ribeye was seasoned to perfection. The temperature of the ribeye was definitely not correct, but in regards to flavor...flavorture definitely did a phenomenal job in that aspect. All of my guests enjoyed their food, and there was no room for dessert. I will patronize this establishment in the future to see if service has improved. Flavorture definitely deserves a chance to redeem itself in that aspect, and I am looking forward to experiencing dessert. read more

Came her for a birthday brunch. Reservation was for 2pm but we didn't leave until 6pm because the service was sooo slow. It was a large group and the food came out 2 at a time then they started getting confused and brought out food we already had or didn't order. My food never came and we had to keep reminding the staff about it. By the time I got my food everyone was done eating. The food here is good and I appreciate management rectifying the situation, but they need to ensure they have enough staff to accommodate the amount of people they have coming in. I'd come back on with a smaller party or just sit at the bar. The drinks are very good too. Parking sucks, so Uber or take the metro. read more

Don't go for brunch! I really wanted to like this restaurant, but my hubs and I just didn't. There are a plethora of brunch options in the DC area, so at $106.70 (they automatically add a 22% service fee to the $85 cost) per person for brunch, it needs to be special. Also, they make you pay before you eat. That seems pretty classless to me. ATMOSPHERE: It's a small place. It's relatively dark. It was decorated with a Mardi Gras theme. Since the food didn't have a New Orleans twist, it just seemed like they left up old decorations. We walked in and were asked to go back outside to check in. There is little space at the entrance and it was used by the DJ, so I guess that's why, but it would have been better to be greeted there before we walked in. Also, I would not have been happy about that if it was cold outside. The restaurant has two rooms. You can only hear and not see the DJ in the second room. The music wasn't too loud, but it's not a low key environment. Still, it had no real vibe. To contrast, BLK Swan also has a DJ at brunch, AND the restaurant has a vibe. FOOD: The mac and cheese was pretty good, I liked the fried green tomato BLT (hubs did not), and we both enjoyed the beef sliders on a mini Krispy Kreme-type donuts. However, the sliders were a substitute for the waffles that weren't available. The buttermilk fried chicken was not available, so they substituted tasteless chicken wingettes. The kale salad was tasty, but the kale salad and fruit salad were served in plastic dishes. That is not a $100 brunch experience. The oysters were ordinary and came with the cocktail sauce in a plastic to-go container reminiscent of McDonald's. Again, not what I paid for. The collard greens were terrible. The lobster topped deviled eggs were served with no lobster. We asked about it and were given lobster on a second egg, but it was a TINY piece. The potatoes were mushy. The candied bacon was fine. The jerk salmon was dry and lacking jerk flavor. The shrimp and grits were decent (hubs actually enjoyed them). The omelette was fine, but not prepared as I requested. OVERALL: I will spend money on food, so the price didn't bother me. However, you have to make it worthwhile. There are other nice restaurants that have the same concept and do it better at almost half the cost. read more

I actually went to this restaurant with my boyfriend in January, but I am just now getting around to writing this review. I think at that point they were still having a soft-launch or newly opened promotion, so they gave us complimentary champagne when we walked in. That was a nice touch and one of the servers even snuck us an extra glass. We first ordered the house bread, its a rosemary and honey butter cornbread. It was phenomenal!! The sweetness was balanced with a little saltiness, it was moist, everything you would want in a cornbread. The truffle fries were pretty good, slightly more flavorful than truffle fries I've had at some other restaurants. We also got he braised short rib sliders that were packed with flavor. The meat was tender but there was a little more pickled slaw than we would prefer. I had the lamb chops and honestly I will probably never order lamb chops from any restaurant again. I don't blame just this restaurant alone, but every time I order lamb chops they are small and have an odd sweet flavor. I have encountered a lot of honey flavored lamb chops and I am not a fan of the combination. I thought that by ordering rosemary lamb chops I would be more likely to have a savory lamb dish, but that was not the case. In hindsight, I should have asked before I ordered. I will say that the cook on the meat was a perfect medium rare. The star dish of the night, however, was the stuffed airline chicken breast! It was so juicy, so tender, and full of flavor. I don't usually order chicken at restaurants because I assume it will be bland, basic, or sometimes even dry. But this one made me reconsider! The mashed potato side was good, but the collard greens left more to be desired in the flavor department. The service was great, the staff was kind, and the food arrived in a timely fashion. The food and drinks were good and the ambiance was chic and sexy so I assume they will see much success in the future! read more

This one of the worst experiences I had at a restaurant. Firstly I ordered a drink on the menu. My appetizer came before the drink did. The drink was made poorly. I believe the purpose of mixed drink is to calm the taste alcohol down. The drink was straight tequila. For the entrees it took over an hour for the food to get brought out. Presentation is a poor substitute for quality. The waitress failed to bring out one of my guests order and she had to wait another 45 minutes. When it came the chicken was tough and impossible to eat she did not eat the food and was still charged for the item. With no discount or any type of accommodation. This poor service. Speaking of service, they take a 22 % payment out automatically. This is a ridiculous amount as I paid 42 extra dollars for poor service and poor food. This so called restaurant is not worth the current rating. read more

This is pretty lengthy so bare with me... Went to Flavorture for dinner last night. I'm rating Flavorture 4/5 for a couple of reasons. The evening started off strong with offering my party and I sangria before heading to our table; that was very clever and I was hooked for the rest of the evening. The young lady kept us updated with an ETA on them setting our area up. Our waitress was very attentive and did everything she could on her end. Where I'm giving the 4 stars at, was the food being late and cold. It was a crowded night and we were a party of 8. I wanted to mentioned that the kitchen was to close at 11pm(we received a 5 minute announcement about them closing) and two people in my party didn't receive their food yet. This is a new restaurant so grace was extended tonight. Beautiful restaurant but the small mishaps were adding up to make a decision if we were going to leave or stay. I didn't take a picture of my sides but pictured here is the Airline Fry Chicken Breast ; my sides were mac and cheese and garlic broccolini. The chicken and broccolini were really good! The mac and cheese had a lot going on-- SUPER cheesy and oily( buttery) and a bunch of seasoning going on. The mac and cheese reminded me of a seafood boil with cheese. Overall, there's room for improvement in all aspects. read more
