We have visited this restaurant many times over the past few years and we were never disappointed like we had the last time we visited. It was a crowded weekday night in the summer and we sat outside in the patio and ordered our usual meals. Two kids and 3 adult orders. We have allergies so I specifically say no dairy, and no peppercorn on the steaks. It took them 40 plus minutes to bring our meals. No bread was given. 3 out of the 5 meals were done incorrectly. Instead of chicken salad, it was shrimp salad. Instead of fingerling potatoes, it was polenta. The waiter even gave me a hard time about refusing the polenta even though I have specified I am dairy free and allergic to dairy and that he was the one who recommended the fingerling potatoes instead. Eventually he took the dish back and gave me the correct one, but one lamb chop out of 3, were burnt on one side and it was inedible for that burnt part of it. My son's dish had peppercorn, which we specifically requested no peppercorn. His dish was also miniscule compared to all the other times he had ordered the same dish. Water refill was not offered, until the very end where we requested water refill. All in all, it was highly disappointing and I am sure we will never return again. How sad. read more

Made reservations and we arrived 15 early and they were able to seat our party of four. The drinks were yummy and our oysters were fresh and tasteful. The figs wrapped in bacon were not what we expected but they were tasty. Empanadas we're ok for me but our guests enjoyed them. The tomahawk was cooked to perfection but we wished it wasn't pre-cut. The beef Wellington takes about 20 minutes to make but it was worth the wait. It was delicious. Our guest had the steak and the special which was the halibut and they immensely enjoyed their meals also. Asked for a redo with regular tomato juice (anything) but they could do it because the "owner only makes mix". Used to love the crab cake Benedict, but it's a goner. Salmon Benedict is poor and everything is over salted. Ps. The most disturbing is that I'm handicapped. I had a reservation and on arrival 4 women workers greeted us and walked away "just a minute". The only thing we did not like was the unexpected free coffee cake. It was really dry and hard, but it had good potential and since it was completely unexpected, I'll ignore it! If you're looking for a good whiskey bar on the east side, then this is your place. They have many many rare, selections and great staff and wonderful bartenders. The food is top-notch with lots of variety, and they have a happy hour as well. We had a Sazerac, which was to die for, and we also had a flight of some of their more rare bourbons, and I did a flight of scotch, the bartender was very knowledgeable with the tasting notes and helped us decide which whiskey to put into certain cocktails. It was very fun evening again they have a huge selection of whiskeys, so if you're on the east side, this would be the place to go for a whiskey bar. read more

My husband and I have loved Flat Iron Grill in the past for special occasions so when my in-laws were in town, it was our #1 choice. Sadly, we left disappointed. Initially everything started out fine. Beverages were served timely, along with appetizers. Dinner orders were taken mid-appetizers, however once appetizer course was complete, time only passed with minimal interaction with our server. She would occasionally check in to see if drinks needed to be refreshed, and sometimes would forget to bring the drink orders. At least 30 mins passed after apps were cleared from our table before dinner was served, with several errors. Steaks were not cooked to temp, sides were not as requested, some food items were served cold, some items were not fully cooked and some items were missing. Additionally, drink orders continued to be forgotten. We tend to have compassion and patience for servers however this night was not overly busy and she just did not seem to care. We were hopeful for some condolences whether in form of an apology, a discount or free appetizer, but no such thing occurred. We were originally going to order dessert but opted to skip and leave early after such a disappointing experience. Overall, most of the food was good, but service was not. This will likely be our last visit to Flat Iron Grill. read more

This is a great place in the adorable Gilman Village. It's a little fancier than casual but the bar was for everyone. We went with a group of 8 people including 2 tweens. It was easy to find something for everyone. Everyone's appetizers and meals were amazing-Grilled Artichokes were something new and so good. The Caprese Salad had the most amazing pesto (I'm still thinking about this salad!). The Flat Iron Steak was a big with our many in our group, as was the cowboy ribeye. The only negative was the desserts (coconut sunday and Creme brûlée) were all way too sweet. Our server was very helpful and friendly. Our food came out quickly and all correct. We were so surprised we were one of a few tables in the whole place at 7pm on a Saturday. We plan to go back! read more

My first visit - lunch today with four friends. Service was great, and the food was excellent! I had the Cauliflower Truffle Pasta...composed of roasted cauliflower, garlic shallot cream sauce, spinach, truffle, parmigiano, campanelle pasta. It was TDF and I would literally order it every time ($18). Two friends had the Flat Iron Steak Salad - steaks were done exactly as ordered and they thoroughly enjoyed them. Another friend had the French Dip - not a crumb left ($19). And, finally, our fifth party member enjoyed the seared Ahi tuna special - perhaps inhaled in all of five bites - he loved it. I was here on Saturday (Dec 14th) for my birthday dinner with my family, and FIG was near our hotel so we went. We got there around 4 ish and did our reservations on Yelp, and Yelp reservation was useless when the resto was empty. Our table was so dark and the male staff (who helped us with seating) said he'll lit candle and he never came back. We ordered the following: Bibb Salad (server brought Beet Salad twice instead of "BIBB" salad) $11, Truffle Pasta $20, NY Steak $35 and Ribs $16 with Chocolate Cake $9. Server brought wrong item twice and the male staff misinformed saying about free birthday cake it wasn't free. Although food here were pretty good, it was too small and very pricey. Chocolate cake was directly heated from microwave. I liked the candle decoration though. Truffle pasta was fresh and delicious. Ribs were good it was little lukewarm. NY Steak was pretty good as well. Note: no free bread here. My dad felt so hungry after the early dinner. Expensive food and horrible service. We started off with some oysters Our dinner were good, at least for my rack of lamb which was perfectly seasoned and grilled the mashed potatoes were definitely delicious with some lumps (love it in the mashed potatoes ) Unfortunately for my better half, his steak dinner was overly salted and had to be re-make. Came here for a dinner with family. It is located in the little outdoor mall. We got to sit out on the patio and enjoy the nice weather. Good size patio with little lights. The food we had tasted really good. Good wine and cocktail list. Appetizers: Boar Empanadas & Salmon Cakes You get two empanadas with a corn salsa. Salmon cakes come with two cakes with a frisee salad. Both were very yummy! Entrees: Boar Saltimbocca, Flat Iron Steak and New York Strip . The boar was the most exotic/unique thing on the menu. Looks like pork but tastes like beef. I feel like because of COVID many restaurants, including this one, are paring down their menu. If you like steak, this is the place to come. Everything was very tasty, easy to get to and find. The missing star is because the first thing we got, drinks, were flat and uncarbonated soft drinks. Nestled amongst a cluster of restaurants and stores near a residential area, Flat Iron Grill is a nice detour for good food. Locals are familiar with this place. I went for an event in their private room. This room is conveniently located as you enter the restaurant. Just keep in mind that the separate door that is locked from the outside can be distracting as passersby think it is the entrance to the restaurant. As a first-timer, I wasn't aware of it so I tried to open the door, ended up walking around the building, only to realize that the entrance is kitty corner from the door I initially tried to access. Once inside, ambiance is warm and friendly. At least for me, it felt like it is one of those places people would go to if they live close to the area. If you are visiting, pay attention to the GPS instructions as you need to make quick turns as you get closer to the restaurant. I ended up going around the residential block. Food was served swiftly. Appetizers including the cheese plate, FIGlets, Camarones and empanadas were delectable. My favorite was the empanadas. Quinoa had the right texture and crunch and the arugula with the raisins round out the flavors along with the cheese. Steak was done perfectly and the accompanying mashed potatoes was wonderfully creamy. Mushrooms are not my go to normally, but they were cooked "just right". Getting dessert? The cheesecake was awesome...not too sweet. Heidi (I think that was her name), was gracious with her service. I probably wouldn't choose this restaurant right off the bar since it is tucked amongst other options in this mini mall type location so one could easily miss it. I came on a Friday evening and got seated right away for a party of two. There's both indoor and outdoor seating but since it was nice and sunny we opted for outdoor seating. We started off with drinks and I got the paper plane ($12) which I enjoyed. For appetizers we got the clams and chorizo ($17) and the carpaccio ($12). I thought the carpaccio was okay but the clams and chorizo was really good! The clams and the chorizo were both delicious and the grilled bread really soaked up the yummy sauce. For my entrée I got the flat iron steak ($25) which was heavenly! The meat was perfectly cooked and the chimichurri and salsa really brightened it up. Even his random wine pick was stellar! The inside is very pretty. This is definitely a more upscale place. A place where you want to pull out your good heels, purse, and get all dolled up! Everything we ordered was spot on. I can't even go into detail about all of it because all I can say is "delicious" or "outstanding!" To describe every dish. What I CAN go into detail though is the fact that at 7pm on a Saturday they literally ran out of EVERYTHING. My husband had his heart set on the duck-they were out. I wanted this rye drink that had Walnut liquor in it-They were out. The girls that sat next to us wanted bread pudding-they were out of vanilla ice cream, "which was fine because we wanted the pecan ice cream anyway!" They said. Oh wait, THEY WERE OUT! Are you kidding me? I feel like whoever does inventory here needs to pass off that responsibility to someone else because they are severely slacking. This last time our service was below average, very nice server she was just mia most of the night, we were tucked back in a spot with no one, we are easy to miss and was hard to get anyone's attention, food was lacking in flavor and texture, got the scallops, the scallops were fine but how it was served was really disappointing along with the sauce being thin like water, my husbands steak was overcooked and dry, the fries for the kids were cool to touch and undercooked, I actually had to walk around to look for our server to get the bill, then she proceeds to set tables while we wait with the card/folder in hand to pay, we didn't complain because we ate the food and we didn't have to cook at home but we won't be back. read more

Came here twice (bought a Groupon both times) and the food was good, but inconsistent. The first time we came their steak was amazing! Good cut and cooked just right. Hence why we went again. The second time, I ordered the same thing (Flat Iron Steak) and it was overdone. Being someone who a) loves steak and b) eats it medium-rare, having it overcooked was a real damper on the meal. They do have great bread though. Service was consistently friendly and attentive, but not too pushy. Ambiance is so-so; pretty basic but nothing is necessarily wrong with it. Could be upgraded but this is a local spot and I'm sure diners like it as is. Wonderful restaurant! Staff are really friendly and helpful. The food is delicious! Oysters on the half shell were so fresh and delicious. There was a little seaweed salad on each oyster. Yum! I wanted the Bone-in Pork Chop at our last visit, but unfortunately, they had run out. So, I had the Flat Iron Steak......again! It's absolutely delicious! It's served on a bed of polenta, with a salsa on top, and a chimichuri drizzled around the plate! My husband had the Hokkaido Scallops, which he said were also delicious. We live in Renton, so The Flat Iron Grill is very local for us, so we're hoping to 'work' our way through the menu! read more
