RCR Squared - These are the stairs they built, welded, and painted for me!

    RCR Squared

I can not speak highly enough about Jason and Reid, and my experience with them. A contractor I…read morehired, had hired a welder to do my guest house stairs. Long story short, 3 months later they still weren't done. I happened to walk my dog one afternoon and ran into RCR Squared doing some welding work for our HOA neighborhood mailboxes. I asked Reid if he would come give me an opinion on something that didn't make sense to me but I'm not a welder so what would I know. Reid was gracious enough to come take a look while his team continued working on the mailboxes. When Reid saw the stairs he was in shock and could not believe what he was seeing. He then filmed a 10 minute video pointing out all the things that were done incorrectly, not to code and that were extremely dangerous for me to send to my contractor. I had been waiting 3 months for these stairs and desperately needed to be able to get into the guest house, as we were going to be up there during the construction on my main house that was starting in 2 weeks (thank god I have a different contractor for my main house). Reid & Jason gave me a bid to demo and rebuild the stairs and said they could do it right away and get it done quickly. I told them as much as i wanted to hire them I was having another welder come look, just to get another opinion and would get back to them. A welder my main contractor knows and trusted and he confirmed everything Jason and Reid had told me but couldn't do the job for 3 months and that wasn't an option. So I called them back and hired them. Honestly, I think Reid and Jason took pity on me and squeezed in my project. They started the following Monday. They thought they could get the basic stairs built in 3 days (with no trim or paint) so we could get up there before July 4th holiday, but because they had to redo the lower section of the stairs that they originally thought they could keep, it didn't get done till the following week. They took off for the holiday weekend and were back early Tuesday morning. At the time the temperature drastically changed and got ridiculously hot and of course the stairs were in full sun. It was brutal but they came in everyday with a smile. The whole team was very friendly and hard working. By Friday they had the stairs done and primed so we were able to move stuff uptairs that we desperately need out of the main house over the weekend and they came back on Monday to finish the painting. RCR square was truly a godsend to me. If I hadn't have run into them that day, and Reid didn't take a few minutes to look at the stairs I would NEVER have known until someone got hurt, which could have been years down the line, just how dangerous these stairs were. The weight of the stairs also could have taken down my storage shed and garage because the proper supports were not put inside the wall when they redid the storage shed and landing. What a nightmare that could have been. The main things I want you to know from my experience with them are that they have a very experienced team, they show up when they say they will, and work as hard as they can to get your job completed on time. They can't control holidays and weather but they will work as hard as they can to get your job done correctly. They literally got my stairs done exactly when I needed them done. I would have been royally screwed without them. Can't not speak more highly of all of these men! Thank you Jason, Reid and all the guys. You all saved me and are truly the BEST!!! Would absolutely hire them again. And am happy to be a referral for them. Heather

The owner was very friendly as well as his helper. They showed up on time and went right to work. Quick and efficient. They even helped me out a few minor fixes without complaint or up charges. Amazing welds done on Aluminum.

    The UPS Store

I definitely feel that the staff needs more training, particularly when it comes to customer…read moreservice, problem-solving, organization, and managing the flow of customers. There were three employees working, but only one person was actively assisting customers. The other two employees were simply watching as more and more people continued to walk in instead of stepping in to help or even acknowledge the customers waiting. At the very least, they could have said something as simple as, "Hello, welcome! We'll be right with you." Instead, there was a very long line with little to no communication or direction. Many of the customers were simply dropping off packages, including USPS drop-offs, which could have been handled very quickly. A simple announcement such as, "If you're here for a USPS drop-off, you can leave it here," or asking someone, "Are you here to drop off a package? We'll be with you in just a moment," would have made a huge difference and helped move the line along. The whole situation felt extremely disorganized. Customers were not being directed, the staff seemed unsure about how to handle different situations, and there was very little problem-solving or communication. In my particular case, I was denied a service that I know is offered at UPS Stores. I worked at and managed a UPS Store location for more than nine years, so I am very familiar with UPS Store services and shipping procedures. I understand that businesses want to increase sales and upsell additional services, but when a customer comes in specifically asking for a service, the response should not simply be, "We don't offer that service," when the service is in fact available. There was also an issue with the measurements of my packages. The dimensions being entered were incorrect. And please, don't respond by simply bringing up dimensional weight. I understand how dimensional weight works, and I am very familiar with UPS shipping rules. The issue was the actual measurements being entered. The scales were also not properly zeroed out before weighing the packages. That is a basic step that should be checked before weighing and charging a customer. Beyond the customer service issues, the store itself was also very disorganized and appeared dirty. The drop-off packages had accumulated to the point where the container was completely full and packages were overflowing, yet no one seemed to be doing anything about it. This was especially frustrating to see while more and more customers were continuing to come in. As someone who has managed a UPS Store, if I had seen my staff standing around watching a line grow while customers were waiting, packages were piling up, and the store was becoming disorganized, I would have addressed it immediately. Customer service, cleanliness, organization, and keeping the workflow moving were standards I took very seriously when I managed my location. Maybe my standards as a manager were simply very high. I know that I took pride in keeping my store organized, clean, and providing good customer service. At the same time, I understand that every franchise owner may have different management styles and expectations for their staff. I honestly chose not to say anything further at the time because there were already so many customers waiting, and I did not want to make an already chaotic situation worse. However, the experience was frustrating and could have been handled much more efficiently with better communication, organization, attention to detail, and proper staff training. I hope management takes this feedback seriously. These issues are very fixable, but they require employees who are properly trained, willing to step in and help when the line is growing, and attentive to the details of each transaction.
