I think this is a nice little restaurant but some of their menu options don't make sense. They don't have many meal options. It's mostly just pancakes. Or French Toast. Or Waffles. Nothing more....and their meal options they do have are very small portions. I ordered the French toast and it came with only one slice of toast. I usually go places and they give me three slices of toast and part it in half. I was hungry after and ate a flapjack and a half. For the meals you can choose a number 1,2 or 3 and you cannot make any substitutions. What's frustrating is all the meals come with a measly shot of juice. But when you sit down the waitress asks you what you want to drink and then your meal comes with a drink...although it's small it doesn't make sense. When I told the waitress she didn't seem empowered to do what's best for the customer which was to make the juice I ordered part of the meal. She wanted to bring me an ADDITIONAL drink because it came with the meal. The fruit wasn't ripe also. It's strange portions. The meals come with sausage or bacon. Why can't you choose what you want? I'm not a fan of bacon. There are many tweaks that need to happen to the menu and first off they need to do what's best for their customers. read more

Met a coworker for a quick lunch, and they tried the spinach salad with chicken, and I had eggs benedict traditional. Everything was tasty, and the chicken for the salad was cooked to perfection. Service is fast, our drinks were always full, and our food came out quickly. It's a cute little breakfast feel type diner, and the booths are very comfortable. Excited to have a dine-in breakfast option in Western Shawnee, and we will be back. read more

Had my first visit to the new Flapjacks 'n More here in Shawnee. Really enjoyed the service and food. There's so much to choose from, of course pancakes of all manner of varieties, but I had biscuits and gravy with eggs. Nice chunks of sausage and it was served HOT. Loved it. Staff was friendly and kept up on my drink which I always appreciate. Definitely recommend you going and welcoming them to the area. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. read more

Hash browns are amazing. Freakishly good. Fresh in house and I ordered crispy. The omelette gigantic and tasty. Interestingly...similar to other reviews the syrup is different. I am not a syrup snob, anything from hungry jack to real maple syrup from Costco. But their syrup has a different taste which I did not care for. My husband had biscuits and gravy. Again it had a little bit different flavor and is not a favorite. But the hashbrowns and a omlette oh my! Happy to have this in Shawnee. read more

Place cooks straight heat. The service is podium. Top tier. Can tell the owner/manager cares. He came out and made sure we were good. He even gave us all some fruit plates and extra pancakes on the house. Place would be called Sherlock Holmes if it was an investigator that's how heat it is. read more

I'm rating poorly because I'm disappointed with the owner on a matter that I find is very important and that I know doesn't happen on a regular basis. See below for explanation from a mom who was excited to get out for breakfast... On Sunday, October 29 my husband and our two small children (ages 3 months and 2 years old) went to the restaurant right at the opening at 7 AM. We were excited to try a new place close to us. I ordered the Hawaiian omelette with hashbrowns, extra crispy, and my husband got the Denver omelette, and our daughter got the one egg special with sausage and pancakes and chocolate milk. I did have to get my hash-browns sent back to get extra crispy but there was no charge to do that. Overall, we loved the atmosphere and for being right there at 7 AM, there was not a huge crowd. However, due to having two small children, I was not able to fully finish my meal, and I got two to-go boxes - one for our daughter's meal and one for my Hawaiian omelette. This morning, so not even 48 hours later, I was finally able to warm up my leftovers, and when I went to take a bite, there was a paper clip in my omelette. A thicker paper clip that maybe could have fallen off from something in the kitchen, or if there were papers anywhere, etc. I know that things happen like that but I was just surprised because all I did was scoot everything over to my plate and warm it up in the microwave and that's it. I called at 6:40 AM this morning and Leanne, the manager, answered. I know they open at seven, but how awesome it was that she answered 20 minutes early. After explaining the situation, she said she had to wait for the owner. I called back after the owner saw my review on a different review site about 9 AM and I asked to talk through it with him to help gain understanding on both sides. Not only did he tell me I was completely wrong, but he blamed me saying it was probably my paper plate at home and that was reason for the paper clip in my food. I asked him if I could bring him the paper clip so he could see it, and he said no. For me to want to drive 10 minutes to bring a paper clip and show to get better understanding is actually a big deal He said all they ever use is rubber bands, and there's no possible way that a paper clip could have gotten into the food. I asked to talk to his boss, and he said it was him, which I totally understand being the owner and when I asked for a full refund, he said absolutely not. I just do not understand how a paper clip with food all around and stuck in the actual paper clip could have been my fault. I know that this situation is not a regular occurrence, and that things like this can happen. I have worked in a kitchen before and I know that sometimes things randomly get put places. I just feel like the owner is not understanding my experience that I share and how it could happen anytime in the restaurant. What if it was my toddler who had bit into that and choked? I only wish it had happened in the restaurant that morning - Would you still blame me if you don't use paper clips but it was in your restaurant ? Overall we loved the atmosphere and the Hawaiian omelette was a different unique item which made them stand out. So my rating is all based on the last 30 minutes of my interaction with the owner and how I was blamed for something that could have caused serious problems, especially in a toddler. Customer service is a big part for a good rating and the owner, unfortunately, was not willing to give me that. read more

We decided to try flapjacks since they are new and close to home. I should have known it was going to be a toss up as there were multiple open tables during what is the usually after church breakfast rush, but they just opened this location. When we walked in the waitress with the pig tales was ordering the new kid around, because she wanted to serve her friends. I understand that our waitress was new, but the way she was ordered around because she is new and yelling across the restaurant was rude and uncalled for. They asked our drinks, coffee and water, the coffee did not show up until our food came out. We had to snag the waitress in the chiefs shirt as she went by to get a refill of coffee, when our waitress came to check on use we had to ask her 3x to get a refill of water. On the third reminder she looked up from dancing by the cash register and saw us trying to drink from empty glasses. We ordered the 2 egg, bacon, fruit and flat jacks special and the chicken fried steak, eggs, hashbrowns and flat hacks. My wife's scrambled eggs hard, were under done, there was no fruit , she forgot lt she and brought out hashbrowns which we were charged for the hashbrowns when they brought out her fruit as orded. The sign as you walk in it mentioned biscuits and gravy, it was false advertising. The gravy in the chicken fried steak, was elephant gray and watery/ bland. If they make theirs from scratch, to make the bechamel sauce, you don't use 2% milk. If it was canned, they need to find a different brand. The pan cakes were thin and flavorless. To get your batter to rise on the griddle a little baking powder would help and some sugar and vanilla will give them some flavor. I gave 2 stars because the bacon was good, the coffee when we got it was hot and not bitter and they new girl tried the best she could with little training. It is too bad it was such a less than positive experience I doubt we will be going back anytime soon. read more

The breakfast food was good. Lots of choices, especially in the pancakes/french toast/crepes variety. The service is nice and cordial but it took a while for them to take our order. The kitchen couldn't get all our food out at the same time and the runners didn't know who had ordered what, so there was a little confusion about that, but they made it right. Tried the shawnee location yesterday morning. Had the eggs Benedict. The eggs were cooked perfect and you actually get 3. It tasted delicious. My husband had the pancakes and rates them the best of all the breakfast places we have tried. He loves that they give you pure maple syrup. The coffee was very good and they give you real cream. Who does that anymore. Obviously the owner cares about quality products. The portions are large so come hungry. The staff is super friendly especially our waitress Gee. She had a smile on her face all the time and had great interaction with all the customers. This is a great addition to western shawnee. read more
