Omlette hashbrowns biscuits & gravy pancakes
    Kelly D.

Hash browns are amazing. Freakishly good. Fresh in house and I ordered crispy. The omelette gigantic and tasty. Interestingly...similar to other reviews the syrup is different. I am not a syrup snob, anything from hungry jack to real maple syrup from Costco. But their syrup has a different taste which I did not care for. My husband had biscuits and gravy. Again it had a little bit different flavor and is not a favorite. But the hashbrowns and a omlette oh my! Happy to have this in Shawnee.

The food was pretty good. Service was a little slow.. but there just starting out I'll go back again.

Paper clip at the top that I pulled out of my mouth from part of the Half of omelette I ate.

I'm rating poorly because I'm disappointed with the owner on a matter that I find is very important and that I know doesn't happen on a regular basis. See below for explanation from a mom who was excited to get out for breakfast... On Sunday, October 29 my husband and our two small children (ages 3 months and 2 years old) went to the restaurant right at the opening at 7 AM. We were excited to try a new place close to us. I ordered the Hawaiian omelette with hashbrowns, extra crispy, and my husband got the Denver omelette, and our daughter got the one egg special with sausage and pancakes and chocolate milk. I did have to get my hash-browns sent back to get extra crispy but there was no charge to do that. Overall, we loved the atmosphere and for being right there at 7 AM, there was not a huge crowd. However, due to having two small children, I was not able to fully finish my meal, and I got two to-go boxes - one for our daughter's meal and one for my Hawaiian omelette. This morning, so not even 48 hours later, I was finally able to warm up my leftovers, and when I went to take a bite, there was a paper clip in my omelette. A thicker paper clip that maybe could have fallen off from something in the kitchen, or if there were papers anywhere, etc. I know that things happen like that but I was just surprised because all I did was scoot everything over to my plate and warm it up in the microwave and that's it. I called at 6:40 AM this morning and Leanne, the manager, answered. I know they open at seven, but how awesome it was that she answered 20 minutes early. After explaining the situation, she said she had to wait for the owner. I called back after the owner saw my review on a different review site about 9 AM and I asked to talk through it with him to help gain understanding on both sides. Not only did he tell me I was completely wrong, but he blamed me saying it was probably my paper plate at home and that was reason for the paper clip in my food. I asked him if I could bring him the paper clip so he could see it, and he said no. For me to want to drive 10 minutes to bring a paper clip and show to get better understanding is actually a big deal He said all they ever use is rubber bands, and there's no possible way that a paper clip could have gotten into the food. I asked to talk to his boss, and he said it was him, which I totally understand being the owner and when I asked for a full refund, he said absolutely not. I just do not understand how a paper clip with food all around and stuck in the actual paper clip could have been my fault. I know that this situation is not a regular occurrence, and that things like this can happen. I have worked in a kitchen before and I know that sometimes things randomly get put places. I just feel like the owner is not understanding my experience that I share and how it could happen anytime in the restaurant. What if it was my toddler who had bit into that and choked? I only wish it had happened in the restaurant that morning - Would you still blame me if you don't use paper clips but it was in your restaurant ? Overall we loved the atmosphere and the Hawaiian omelette was a different unique item which made them stand out. So my rating is all based on the last 30 minutes of my interaction with the owner and how I was blamed for something that could have caused serious problems, especially in a toddler. Customer service is a big part for a good rating and the owner, unfortunately, was not willing to give me that.

Side of biscuits and gravy. Very good!

Arrived around noon on a Thursday afternoon. Seated right away. Cute little gem. Wait staff is friendly. Food was good. Give it a try.

We loved the little set up with a great amount of seating, a clean bathroom, and outlets for people who want to study or get some work done. We were a little hungry and got the empanadas and both tried the Yerba mate. We've never had the traditional yerba mate and were excited we could try it here. Once our order was ready one of the employees was happy to explain to us how to properly drink the yerba mate. She was patient, kind, and professional the whole time. There's definitely a trick to drinking it without getting the tea leaves through the straw. As we enjoyed our snack and drink we could tell the caffeine kicks in a little later. So, if you're up to trying traditional yerba mate, be aware that you'll get a gradual burst of energy a little later. I personally loved the decor and the atmosphere here. They had little knick knacks you could purchase, a small refrigerator with items to take with you as well. I got a couple of key chains for my sister and myself and my boyfriend and I have already noted that we want to come back here the next time we're in Kansas City!

They absolutely have the processes of this little restaurant honed to perfection, and even during a busy lunch time kept things humming so that there was minimal wait time (to order, for the food to be brought out, and to pay for our meal). Many, MANY thanks to Robert, who seated us, took our order, brought our food out, and settled our bill. He was friendly, efficient, and so welcoming. It was a joy to watch him work; he made sure to greet each and every customer coming in the door, and was consistently so upbeat and positive. And many, MANY thanks to Tony at the grill! Our food was FANTASTIC!! I have high standards for Mediterranean food, and the falafel wrap was totally delicious! The falafel itself was perfectly cooked, with a crispy outer layer, and the other ingredients in the wrap were chosen for a perfect melding of flavors. I had the side salad, with homemade Thai peanut dressing, and it was equally tasty. My husband had the patty melt, which came on homemade bread (!) and was, per his report, perfectly done. His side was tater tots, and we shared them. They were crisp and light without being greasy, and addictively yummy! The restaurant is in a strip center; it's not very big, but the tables are well placed so that no one feels cramped. The open reception area and kitchen/grill make it easy for the staff to respond to what's happening in the dining room (e.g., new folks arriving). It was a truly memorable meal, and we'll definitely be back! Again, MANY thanks to Robert and Tony for such a great lunch. We appreciate you!

After several visits over the years, I've only had their coffee and pastries, not their cafe food. The interior is cute and there's often a queue upon entering to order at the counter, but don't let that intimidate you because it moves fast. I recommend getting some of their water on tap (both still and sparkling water are available) if you have to wait! If you're queer like me, you'll likely be drinking a cold black coffee and they have options! They have a regular cold brew in 3 sizes, a cold brew of the moment / seasonal (ask about it!) and a cold brew shandy for something different. My partner and I got two different cold brews on tap today, the original and the Seasonal Single Origin Honduran one. The single origin Honduran was better, but their original was good too. There's a lot of seating, but it's usually taken up, so I tend to just take my coffee to go. Expect to walk out for around $6ish a cup. They clearly care about providing you a good experience with a strong cup of coffee. Give them a shot if you're in downtown Overland Park!

A father and daughter duo next to me showed up in a dandy double breasted suit and a princess dress. I wish the food was as good as the vibe. It's near terrible food definitely doesn't stop people from coming in, again, you are in one of the nicest areas of downtown OP and have limited coffee competition, so I guess food quality isn't your number one concern.
