Since 2017, I have been visiting this place and enjoying the crowds, karaoke and shenanigans. I have even helped with karaoke back in the days of Pirate Matthew. *sigh* This place has transformed from an average bar filled with locals.. to an actual inviting venue. It still has the colorful locals, storytelling; gossiping; laughing, and making it a fun place. But with the new owner, it feels like a new cool bar scene instead of a "hole in the wall" average dive bar. No disrespect! I personally love dive bars too, and it will never lose that unique charm. There's always been karaoke, DJ music and events, but it it's now polished up and feels new and inviting.. even for the average tourist passing through. Really good bar food. Good affordable prices. When you need something with. Beer or cocktail this is the place. Gotta try the Loni Dog. It's my favorite. Coldest beer in town also, every time. The new owner Sienna has given this place a new breath of life! I've been there for karaoke, dart tournaments, and concerts and I have fun every time. The bartenders are nice but they know how to tell people no when people try to cross the line. Makes you feel like you can have a drama free night out and chat with the different personalities that frequent the place. I have been a long time customer, tonight a new bartender was on duty being supervised by an of duty bartender. Every one of my $10 dollar drinks were 2 sips. Went out to Rio Vista with my boyfriend for the evening and ended up stopping at the "Dirty Bird" after a friend recommended it. What a perfect stop! Friendly crowd and a fast bartender. She was totally on-point. We were there on dart tournament night which would seems like it would be fun to participate in since we've been playing lots of darts together lately. Guess it's a weekly thing there! Pool table was also in use so we just sat back and made friends with the people around us. Didn't stay long but enjoyed the stay. Since the bar side of the Striper (well, Young's Sports Bar) closed down, The Flamingo (aka The Bird) is just about the only bar I go to in town. What I like about The Bird: pool table, internet juke box, easily accessible bathroom. Smoking outside of course, but hey, this is California. Most of the time I'm there, it happens to be kind of dead, but that's fine by me. That means little wait for the pool table. When I go there and it's busy, I have a great time, too. The bartenders are nice but stern which reassures me that there will be little drama there. The one time I saw a guy knock out another guy, the cops responded fairly quickly. It's a great local dive bar in a small town. I'd take it over a flashy spot in SF any night - at least for the simple fact that there's parking!!! read more

I'm a fan of the Flamingo as I'm living in Rio Vista right now and it's actually open late! The bartender is really friendly and makes a special coffee drink, which I think is called Laurie's Coffee. There are darts, pool, and lots of TVs to watch sports on. Beers are standard California-pricing, about $4-6. read more

What a gem of a dive bar! You have all different personalities from all different walks of life. Don't hesitate to go in and hang out a while. Take the good with the bad - but mostly it's good. We were fortunate enough to arrive late in the afternoon on a Sunday. Not any Sunday - it was Mother's Day! After a wonderful lunch and wine tasting - we ended up here. We arrive and there was a DJ setting up. A DJ in a dive bar? Okay - let's see what happens. It was karaoke! Not any karaoke - karaoke with an amazing DJ (Matthew)! He had the whole place dancing. Did I think I would end Mothers Day by dancing for hours and sweating my butt off? Well, I did and so did the whole bar. We're talking about a bar with mostly middle aged and elderly people. Arriving with my son and his girlfriend was a breath of fresh air and they enjoyed the place more than anyone, I'm moving away in 6 weeks and hope I can get back to this place once more. read more

my husband and i went here when we couldn't get service at the bighorn.it is a dive bar and im ok with that so i wasn't expecting much.i had a vodka drink and my husband had a shot.prices were not bad.the only think is i believe they water down their alcohol.my husband had a shot of fireball whiskey and he said it tasted a little light.2 days later he bout the same whiskey at the store and it was darker in color as well as a more potent flavor.i don't know if my vodka was watered down but i do know it was for sure bottom shelf. read more
