I just got back to my crew I left at the hotel to do work while I was gone for most of the day doing a quick trip to Bakersfield. I get back and they all wanna know where we're going for dinner! OK, all I had to eat today was an On N Out in Bakersfield, so I said I heard of this Chinese buffet called Flaming Seafood Buffet. Kinda a weird name if you think about it .... seafood on fire flaming. The place is in Norwalk, just off the 5. Take Rosecrans Ave west and turn right on Pioneer Blvd. It's on the left with plenty of parking. We go in and get seated just fine. Drinks orders taken and off we go to look at all the food. The inside is actually quite large compared to a lot of buffets. Lots of steam tables and the food looked fresh. There were all the usual suspects, hot and sour soup, sweet and sour deep fried meat nuggets, fried rice, egg rolls, ribs, whole prawns with the shell on and a few more authentic looking things I didn't know what they were. All my crew are experienced buffet eaters, so they just grab plates and start piling on the food. One guy even got a piece of pizza and so French fries along with fried chicken wings! I had the ribs which were very good. There was a selection of sushi rolls, but I passed on those. The service was very fast and efficient in the usual Asian kinda way. This buffet had a nice chandelier set-up with labeled areas of where to get certain foods, such as the sushi bar, the grill/bbq area, and the desserts. Service was prompt and able to seat our party quickly. Pretty fast at providing the drinks and clearing our dirty dishes from our table, as well. The food itself is like any other buffet with a standard lunch variety. I'm glad they had crabs and shrimps plus the Mongolian noodles, which is what I ended up liking the most. In the beginning, there was not as much sushi variety but more started to come after 30 minutes. The dim sum were also so cute-- loved the designs on them. Avengers Assemble! I give it 2.75 stars, but wife gives it 2 stars. We went there on a weekend. The service was prompt and we were seated quickly with no issue and place were cleared on a regular basis. They were really fast and on it, kind of like Quicksilver zooming around the room. It honestly felt like a Frost Giant from Asgard was hanging out near the food trays and cooling everything down. LOL. Where's the Human Torch when you need him?!?!? The food quality is very mediocre/meh/so so, so take your pick of platitudes.... There are definitely better Asian buffets in the local area. Well, I guess we are comparing it to more contemporary Asian buffets. If we did a Dr Strange and used the Time Stone to travel back to the early 2000s, this would get an extra star. But we are in 2026... We tried more than half of the dishes and sampled a little bit of almost everything, and nothing stuck out. It was a bit of a letdown,, basically like finding out the Infinity Stones are just desk paperweights at the TVA. The only two items that were good, were the seafood and tofu soup, which had white mushroom, which we have never seen put in a buffet. Kudos on that. The muscles were pretty good. They actually had some solid flavor and were mighty enough to lift Thor's hammer. Other than that, every single other dish fell short (shorter than the actual 5'3" Wolverine, not the comic inaccurate Hugh Jackman height portrayal). Most of it was too greasy, lukewarm in temperature/cold, over salted or not salted enough, but not really bounced. The beef selection was stacked: beef back ribs, short ribs (at the grill), roast beef..... a carnivore's dream!!!! January 2026 -I'm not sure I want to leave a review but this place is the bomb. It takes over an hour to drive to get to this amazing place and it's so worth it. Why ambivalent leave a review because this place may get too crowded in the future and we're not gonna wait another hour in line on top of hour plus commute. I've visited other local ayce Asian buffets and will say by far this is one of the best ones. Plenty of choices for seafood, sushi, and more considering the affordable price point ($23.99 for the weekend). Loved how the ice cream also were in individual containers and not the ones where you scoop it out yourself like at other buffets-- much more sanitary. So no joke, this may have been one of the best buffets I've ever been to. Plenty of parking, plenty of seating. They offer a variety of sushi, seafood, simple dim sum, Mongolian bbq, classic American-style Chinese, and more. Piping hot and lots of options for fresh veggies to complement the meats (which were fresh rather than the frozen rolled kind, much to our surprise). The sushi was mostly fresh, though the fried rolls weren't. I tried one and it was chewy stale. Quality of the maki rolls was pleasantly solid. They had four basic options for dimsum (wontons with meat and veggies, vegetarian bao, har gow, and one that I'm just going to describe mystery mochi). The har gow was actually pretty good, but all the dimsum seemed pretty clearly large batch and steamed from frozen (but it's a buffet, so). Came here for lunch on a Saturday. Like other reviews, it's in a shopping center with lots of parking. It's on the Pioneer street side next to Yogurland and a Chinese restaurant. We came a few minutes after they opened so there was just another couple dining when we walked in. Food looked fresh and plentiful. Pictures on yelp are most items available. Most of the items were hits and very little were misses. The misses were the fries and the pizza. Only because they had orange seasoning on the fries and my picky child wouldn't eat it. She only eats regular fries. The pizza available was cheese and she only eats pepperoni. So she ended up eating white rice and canteloupe. $15 for 2 items. Oh well, hopefully next time there will be pepperoni available. Regardless of it, we still enjoyed ourselves. The one thing I was kinda "woah" about was when the waitress came to refill my tables drinks, she put her fingers in the cups (to hold 3 in one hand for efficiency - i get it, ok but idk that was a little gnarly). And then one of my friends got queasy after the buffet, maybe it was a specific food item he ate. One cool thing is you pay after you eat, which isn't super common with buffets but that may be a plus for some people. We don't really care either way, before or after makes no difference. Dessert is lacking, as is the case for most of these seafood buffets. Golden Corral stays on top of the dessert game, although their food selection has less variety/options. One thing to note is the bathrooms were pretty gross. Did not seem to be cleaned very often which was a bit of a turn off as we went at a dead hour so staff had ample time to do a quick sweep of the restrooms... Food was also very slowly changed out. Only saw one change in the entire hour we were there. The time we went was pretty dead so that's probably why things weren't being quickly changed but we paid the same price as people coming in at a later time and had to eat everything super cold. Wasn't even warm. Overall, this was an OK experience. I would not advise anyone against eating here, 3 of us had a vast selection of food and none of us left with food poisoning so that's a plus for me! I've been here since before the rebrand when it was just "Hibachi Buffet" the food just tastes different but like still looks the same. However I will say the renovation looks nice while still keeping the same layout as the old version. The food unfortunately is inconsistent if you regularly eat here or come as much as I used to. It's good if it's like your first time, but yeah today my rice and coconut shrimp were a bit hard, the Galbi meat off the grill seemed tough. This is our third time coming back after this location has been reimagined as Flaming Seafood Buffet. While some things have changed a bit, some things haven't. Entering the buffet, they have plenty of chairs to sit, in case you need to wait for the rest of your party to show up, because realistically, who hasn't? There are two areas that can be sectioned off for more private events, a main seating area that hasn't changed much in layout, as well as the serving area in the middle. I seem to recall a full wall separating the back room from the main dining area, but am pleased with the aesthetics of the current design. The flames actually look cool! I was actually impressed with the overall quality of the food! While the flavor of the bao buns and most of the food on that serving island could have used a bit more flavor, a majority of the other various foods i tried had good flavor and didn't taste like it was out in the sun all day. The day we went, we were heading there after the host confirmed that they had oysters. They mentioned crabs too, but we figured they were talking about the blue crabs (tasty but a lot of work). When we arrived, they just had brought out rock crabs, which were disappearing like certain baked honey hams around Thanksgiving. I then discovered that they had chinese style bbq pork ribs. My usual go to places haven't had any in a while and this was like a taste of heaven. big time bonus! I went back a couple of times for this. They also have a hibachi grill and a sushi counter along the wall....a little bit of everything! When you're just about wrapping up, they have plenty of fruits and the Jello is quite tasty - rich and full of flavor, not bland and watered down. To top it off, they have freezers with individual single serve ice cream cups. Perfect for a Socal day. Parking isn't that much of an issue, even though this is situated smack dab in the middle of a decently busy shopping plaza, there are plenty of spaces in front and on the side of the building, and even more in the rear. Restroom could use a good cleaning though. Overall, the quality you get is definitely worth the price you pay. $20+tax/adult and $14+tax/child (10and under) for weekend pricing!
