If Biggie was still alive during the whole East Vs West feud, and sang "I'm going going, back back to Cali Cali!"; he would eat here not just for the abundance of AYCE food, but the name. This was Las Vegas-style Buffet in So. Cali way before it was cool and they have a wide chandelier decoration. To the right side upon entrance, they have a cool painted mural of a new aged Hokusai. Outside, their parking lot is huge and shared with other cool businesses. East Buffet's food is your standard Chinese buffet with a good variety of foods from many cultures. They even have a nice hibachi area with cool as well. I read about other reviewers bitching about the service, but it honestly isn't that bad as they say. Is there a language barrier? At times, YES! But what the hell do you expect? It's a damn buffet with extremely simple rules: Get a plate, get your food, they bring you the drink you pick, then you pay. What the hell else do you want to bitch and moan about? No hamburgers? Seating is spacious and they do their best to keep their restrooms clean. They also have a really good variety of desserts that feature everything from ice cream to little Bundt cakes. I dig their seafood choices including their snow crabs, shrimps, etc. Many people love making the drive here from all around mainly because of its spaciousness and variety. It's WIDE and a perfect spot for big to small amounts of groups, families, etc.. East Buffet isn't as bad as the negative reviewers on say cry about, so go and check it out for yourself.

If you are in the Hawaiian Gardens area and if you are a large group that needs prices to accommodate both children and seniors, then come to East Buffet! This is very convenient for those coming from Forest Lawn (this is the restaurant most people use for receptions after a funeral, but make sure to call ahead for reservations and and try to have some sort of your own counting system to know who is in your party). I like the variety of foods especially the noodle station where you can get a freshly made customized plate with your choices similar to Mongolian BBQ, seafood sometimes with crab and crawfish, short ribs similar to Korean bbq galbi, sushi, and of course the desserts which include self serve ice cream. So if you want a restaurant that can cater to almost all your dietary needs and cultural backgrounds, then look to the east, East buffet that is!

We ate lunch in this restaurant few times. We really enjoyed our meals at this restaurant. It has a variety of food and tasty. The staffs, waiters are friendly and nice. It is big area, cleaned and well ventilated. The price is affordable and it also has 10% discount for senior persons. We will definitely come back again soon. I recommend this restaurant to everyone.

This place is huge. Huge dining room; huge selection of food. My parents took me here as I'm on town. The food was decent, but a lot of sweet sauce. Deceptive if you're on Keto. Looks good, but . . . A lot of sweets too with self scoop ice cream- very tempting. Anyway, I'm sure my wife's side of the family will like this place as the pricing is very reasonable. Try it out!

The only buffet I often go to is a Korean Bbq buffet, the other buffets I maybe go to just 2 times per year. But this year I think I went to East Buffet like 5 times and it's only $22.99 per person for dinner. I visited this place Multiple times because of their CRABS, the one that still has the shell on them I love the Egg and fats on it, I get crazy eating them, like I devoured them, but only mostly the shell part where the egg and fats are ;) Before I dine in here or enter their place, I will send my Husband inside first to ask if they have the whole Crab 'coz if they don't, I just leave, but so far it seems like it's regular to this place to have the whole crab cut in half 'coz I've been here in different days and they have it all the time for dinner, I don't know about Lunch time, I've never been here during their Lunch. I do like chinese buffets when there's a lot of Seafood selections, and this place has a lot of seafood selections. I also love eating the Jumbo Shrimps, it's a simple thing where most buffet restaurants just steam or boil them, but I'm disappointed from it here since it tasted like so bland , I think they need to add a little salt into it or seasoning when Steaming it or boiling. The Sushi section , i tried it many times when we come here and every time they dont taste fresh so i stop getting their Sushi But their Short rib is so good here , it's tender and so tasty, very well marinated. I always grab a handful of their short ribs. They also have a Mongolian station where you put your own ingredients on your noodle and they cook it for you. The service was fast, like refilling our drinks and getting dishes we no longer need. Plenty of space inside, and plenty of parking.

East Buffet is a foodie's paradise--packed w a wide variety of mouthwatering dishes that let you sample Chinese flavors in one indulgent stop. Tucked at the corner of Carson St & Norwalk Blvd, right next to EoS Fitness, this buffet is a hidden gem for us foodies... especially if you're craving something unique. The standout? They serve Samoan taro!!!!! E lelei le talo!! Creamy, comforting, and perfectly paired with their generous variety of fresh fish, yummm!! They had short ribs, but the marinade was a tad bit on the sweeter side. All other entrees were very good!! Service was very friendly. * A 10% service charge is added to your bill (which is fine, since the price to begin with is very reasonable).

I was really turned off discovering a worm on my food. I feel quality needs to be controlled better. That's why I'm always hesitant on going to buffet places. Other than that, there's some good food.

Sunday lunch checking easy no line . The Chinese food full to choice and the seafood for weekend. Service okay

Signage above the front door

I didn't have good experiences with the last two buffets I went to despite others IRL saying they were good, or at least good enough for their standards. However, my co-workers insisted that East Buffet was good and wanted to go there for our annual end-of-year luncheon. The ratings from my Yelp friends are literally all over the place with two awarding five stars, two awarding one star, and most others choosing middle of the way. I guess there's a reason why they say, "third time is the charm!" East Buffet is located on East Carson Street, on the southwest corner of the intersection with Norwalk Blvd. You shouldn't have an issue with parking since the lot is ample and spacious. As a matter of fact, we found a spot literally right in front of the restaurant. As soon as we came in, we saw a sign posted on the front door indicating two things: 1) Tips aren't expected, and 2) There's a service charge of at least 10% added to your bill. If your party size is in the double digits, that 10 becomes a 12. We would have been a party of 10, but one was ill, which saved us 2%, or about 40 cents if you do the math. 8 of us got there first, but they were happy to seat us at a table in the middle of the dining room while the 9th one was running late. The server who took us to our table asked if we'd like drinks. There's a menu of drinks posted on the side of the napkin dispenser, but we all chose water, which wasn't specified on that menu. Soon after, we all went around the buffet, which in conjunction with the lobby, circumnavigated the dining area. The buffet ran from the sushi on the left to the hibachi station on the right, and plenty of good eats in between. The left (sushi) side of the buffet was mostly vacant. I only saw one chef there shortly after the start of my visit, and for the remainder of the time, that whole half was unsupervised. There was plenty enough food and not nearly enough customers to necessitate replenishing, so it's understandable why that side felt like a ghost town. After finishing my first plate of seafood and BBQ chicken, I noticed there was no line at the hibachi station, so I grabbed a plate and filled it with raw ingredients. When I was done assembling my plate, I didn't see a hibachi chef to hand it to, but my co-worker simply said to leave it there. We noticed a lot of other patrons were following us, leading me to think I'd have a difficult time discerning which plate was mine, but she assured me that our plates would be done first since we got there first. While I was finishing my second plate, I was wondering if my Hibachi plate would be done. She had just gotten her plate, so I sauntered up there to get my plate. I liked my Hibachi plate, and I'm glad I got there before the lunch rush. The rear of the buffet reminded me of Panda Express. I tried a lot of what they had to offer, and I felt it was better than what I had at Panda Express! I was hoping to try everything, but there was just too much to choose from. I was curious why nobody was getting any sushi, so I grabbed a few pieces. A couple of comments regarding the sushi bar: 1) Not everything will have labels, so you may not know what roll you are getting, and 2) They had a couple of sauce bottles that weren't labeled either! Luckily, they have cups to pour these sauces into. I believe they were spicy mayo and teriyaki, the latter of which I thought was soy sauce, but they also have some soy sauce on the tables alongside sriracha. The sushi was quite tasty with the teriyaki. Much better than at Hokkaido, or as I like to call it, HokkaiNO lol. Including the sushi, I used 6 different plates and an ice cream bowl for my lunch. The only plate that left a bad impression was the fruit. The honeydew and cantaloupe weren't fresh, and the grapes had seeds in them. I thought about getting a salad, but the salad bar adjacent to the fruits wasn't what I was expecting. Just raw leafy greens and cold ingredients that I didn't think would go well with those leafy greens. Service was quite decent, at least for a buffet. They were very punctual in removing plates from our table and filling our glasses that at one point during our lunch, I almost thought a server was trying to clean my plate with water lol. I don't think I ever had two plates in front of me except for when I went to pick up my Hibachi plate. However, I must say I loathe and abhor the red herring that is the menu posted on their website https://east-buffet.com/. The menu depicts $15.99 for a weekday lunch buffet, come to find out, the price had went up by $1 between then and now. Nickel and diming (or dollar-ing) scheme? But with how good my experience was here, I'm okay with spending that extra dollar here, but wish the website was updated to better inform the clientele. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by my experience here, and so was everyone else. The interior looks like it was recently remodeled, and I'd be open to a return visit next time I want AYCE.

Ice Cream (by Thrifty)

My family and I frequent this OG buffet spot in Hawaiian Gardens for special occasions. On a typical weekend at lunch, folks can be immediately seated. As you get seated, the waitress would ask everyone for their drink preference and they will bring it to your table. East Buffet has an extensive selection of stir fried Chinese dishes. I believe it varies per day, yet my taste buds were rarely disappointed. I really like the chewy texture and savory flavor of their kalbi (beef short ribs). I am a huge fan of their steamed taro buns because it serves as a neutralizer for the items I ate that day. Their sushi selection is okay, as their California Rolls are too mushy for my liking. Last but never the least, I am impressed that they carry Thrifty Ice Cream at their Ice Cream bar. I opted for the Cotton Candy and Butter Pecan flavors. You can't go wrong with your Chinese favorites and Thirty Ice Cream at an OG East Buffet!

The restaurant itself, located in a strip mall, is open design and we didn't feel crowded. We went for early dinner when it was not very busy. Service is adequate; we ordered hot tea, which was mild but nice, and ice water. Our empty plates were removed regularly throughout our stay. The prices are fairly high if you don't have a big appetite but we had a senior discount which saved us a few dollars per person and we ate a lot! The hot buffet itself is average, with the usual mix of Chinese entrees, but they also offer a Mongolian barbecue section where the chef cooks your meat and vegetables to order, and a separate station that grills marinated steak and short ribs to order. My husband loves this. He also loved the hot and sour soup which was loaded with mushrooms and the fried chicken wings. They offer whole crabs, a wide variety of baked and stir fried seafood entrees, beef, chicken, potstickers and dumplings, vegetables, and other starches. There is a fresh fruit station, salads- of which the Korean style grilled seaweed, jalapeño octopus, and stir fried baked fish cake are my favorites. They also have an extensive sushi/sashimi bar, which we did not try. There is a nice little assortment of lighter desserts and an ice cream station. I like the mango cake; hubby took a honey sesame ball and mixed it with vanilla ice cream! We found some inconsistency with the vegetable dishes- some were fresh and crisp, others soggy and limp. The baked salmon was tasty, the short ribs and steak flavorful. We bypassed a lot of the items but were satisfied with what we chose. All in all there is enough variety for most palates, and though I'm not usually a big fan of buffets it's good for an occasional pig out!

Ice Cream Puff surprise!

Came here for a family gathering. It's an Asian-themed buffet, so you'll have a little bit of everything here. Just think of a Panda Express with a little expanded menu that includes a few international dishes. Likes: - Plantains: Not bad at all. Perfectly cooked - Fish: nicely steamed and flavored. - Stir fried Broccoli: Yum. Nicely cooked, not mushy as some other places. - Chicken wings: crispy, Asian-flavored wings. These go out quick. - Mongolian BBQ noodle station: yep. They got one here. Dislikes: - Crab legs: lacked a lot of the seafoody zest that you'd want because they've probably been frozen for a while. - Soups: missing something. Just tastes bland. This was the egg drop and hot and sour soup I'm referring to. - Desserts: some just tasted a bit stale. - Sushi: well, I probably shouldn't have expected their sushi to be any good. It's a buffet, so... Pro tip: they have an ice cream station here. Do yourself a favor and scoop some of their green tea ice cream and put it on top of these little cream puffs they serve. I call it the Ice Cream Puff Surprise. Not a bad dessert at all.

Under their Light Dinner section, they offer a Zarusoba for $12.00 and a Tempura Udon/Soba with Shrimp Tempura for $13.00. However, if you want Zarusoba with Tempura, they charge an extra dollar. The Zarusoba was good, but it would be nice if they gave a bit more sauce for dipping. I also got a Sashimi Salad, which had a lot of sashimi! It had salmon, tuna, and a white fish. Pretty good, but it could have used a little more dressing as well. The Combination Plate with Salmon and Tempura was enjoyable. It comes with a piece of salmon, a variety of tempura (shrimp, broccoli, sweet potato, onion), side salad, miso soup, rice, tempura sauce, and teriyaki sauce. Salmon was cooked well, and I liked all of the tempura! Their Lunch Specials are originally what caught my eye, but it seems like they don't have anything similar for dinner. Instead, everything is a la carte with the exception of a few combination plates. I wish they would do dinner specials similar to their lunch specials! Parking here is pretty difficult. The lot gets packed with several cars circling around hunting for a spot. They're also going some construction right now which doesn't help. There is a large parking lot where the Home Depot is next door, but they specifically have signs posted to say you can't park there.

I ordered The Delux which was steak, chicken, shrimp with rice and veggies. This entree comes with 3 shrimps so I ordered a side of 3 more to share with my husband. The food smelled delicious and tasted so good too. I thought the chicken and beef was a little over done. I ordered the beef Medium but it came out Well Done and the chicken was slightly tough. I think if the meat was a little more tender and juicier, I would have given them 5 stars. The shrimp, rice, and veggies were delicious and flavorful. Shrimp was plump and juicy. Generous amounts of beef, chicken, and rice. Regardless, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal, and it was plenty for 2 people to share. I like that the curry came on the side so the pork cutlet wouldn't get soggy and you could pour over as much as you want over the cutlets. The veggie sides were a nice touch and complemented the meal well. The gyu katsu didn't taste like Japan to us, but it was still good especially with the wasabi and sweet soy sauce that came with it. Staff assured me that they make their own clam chowder (it does not come out of a can). The chowder is very good. The taste stands out from chowders I have had at other restaurants. It has a savoriness, which I assume comes from bacon. Surf & Chips: This entrée has 3pc of white fish and 3pc of shrimp, fried in a tempura type batter. There is a small bowl of sesame slaw, and a lot of shoestring French-fried potatoes. I "feel" that the pieces of fried fish are a bit small. I suspect that the fish is sized to match the size of the fried shrimp for presentation purposes. But at $25, I think the pricing is reasonable in the current environment. Grilled Ribeye & Nate's Fillet: I have ordered both steaks (ribeye and filet mignon) on different occasions. The steaks here are very good for a restaurant which is not steakhouse.
