Strawberry dessert. The absolute best EVER. So light and fluffy.

This is my favorite restaurant in all of Ames. The food is absolutely amazing. You can tell that everything is made with care and love. Truly. The gyro is by far the best in town, and the desserts are right there with it. I have had and love almost everything on the menu. I try and visit once a week. The staff is so friendly and treats me like family.6 stars!

Best place to eat in the mall! Fast service and made to order dishes. The deep fried mushrooms are a great appetizer. They have chicken strips and macNCheese for children! More soon.

Flame & Skewer is a small, nice Greek family steakhouse located with the North Grand Mall, about a short ten minute drive from where our apartments are located. A few of my friends and I headed out to go see a movie, and before the movie, made a stop by Flame & Skewer to grab a quick dinner. I ordered the Mo's salad, which consists of salad greens topped with gyro strips, Greek olives, tomatoes, pepperoncini peppers and feta cheese. The gyro was pretty good, though I will have to say I'm not a huge fan of salads that consist of just lettuce as their main greens (iceberg lettuce is kind of hard to finish off by itself). My friend got Mo's on Rice, with rice topped with grilled chicken, tomatoes, onions and cucumbers, tossed in Italian dressing. It also came with a slice of Texas toast. Mo's on Rice is one of their speciality items; I tried a little bit, and I do think it was quite tasty! The other three from our group ordered the gyro dinner (strips of blended lam and beef served with pita bread). All in all, Flame & Skewers was a nice sit-down restaurant with reasonably priced food for the quality, and the service was quite nice and timely.

I am a big fan of the Flame & Skewer. Mo opened this business the day North Grand Mall opened and it has been going ever since. I love the gyro sandwich. Stop in for a good meal. Located just inside the main entrance to the mall on the south side. (right)

Top is Mo's on Rice and bottom is Mo's salad!

The Irish soda bread was a definite must try also. We also had the crab cakes that came with enough greens that basically made it a salad. The crabs cakes were also very good. They had a huge selection of tap beers that would satisfy just about any palate. We were very satisfied with our experience. If we lived in the area this restaurant would be on my rotation of favorite regular places to go.

It's a very relaxing Irish pub vibe with a variety of seating options and lots of TVs. Our drinks came out quickly and the food followed shortly thereafter. I got a martini and it was very well prepared. My wife got a glass of wine from their decent wine list. For dinner, I had the lamb burger, which was quite tasty. It was a good combination of flavors and the fries were hot and crisp. My wife got a naked burger with a side salad. The creamy Parmesan was very tasty and it was a nice bed of greens. A table next to us had some sort of a problem with one of the dinners and the server tried many many times to get the customer to order a replacement, but he said he was OK with what he got. When she brought the check to them she made sure to take that off since he did not eat it and would not accept a replacement. They seem shocked at this, but I wondered why they just didn't get a replacement! Great service by that server. She was also our server and did a fantastic job with us. We had very tasty food and great drinks , so I would definitely recommend it and would go back if I was in the area.

Came here with a group…read moreafter a football game, and the place was packed, and every inch of every wall was covered with holiday lights. Where I'm from, they would call this a Christmas Bar and charge $50 just to get in! The service was amazing and the food was decent bar food. Great music, bartenders jump on the bar to dance, big screens with more football. What's not to love? Try the fried pickles!

Don't get me wrong, it's fun, but it's all over the place. Including the moose head full of bras, lol. The condensation from the AC ductwork is dripping all over the bar, including on the tables, chairs, and pool table. It wasn't too busy, but the bartender on shift didn't seem to want to acknowledge us while we waited at the bar to order. For the majority of the time we were there, she seemed as if she didn't want to be working and did not seem very happy. We did wind up getting a smile from her by the end of the night, though, and she seemed to cheer up a little. The bathrooms were an absolute disaster, and I would recommend risking a ticket going outside rather than using those bathrooms. They looked and smelled as if they hadn't been cleaned in months. Overall, the prices were not too bad. The specialty shots seemed a little steep for the small amount of alcohol that was actually in them, but they're "specialty," so...

I went in planning to order salmon, but when our server explained the Patio Burger special, we both chose that. The Patio Burger comprises two patties, totaling 8 oz with cheese, garlic aioli, lettuce and tomato on a brioche bun. I must say that this is one of the best burgers I have had in a long, long time. Toppings aside, the reason I say this is that the patties had a very flavorful grill crust and was well seasoned. This was seriously good. The chefs/cooks here know what they are doing, at least they did on this particular night. Burgers like this have become expensive in recent years but this one is comparatively reasonable at $15. Kudos to Aunt Maude's, always a great place to eat. As an aside, my brother and I had a burger and beer at The Boulder Tap House, three months earlier. That burger was a disappointment at the other end of the spectrum. Skip BTH and go to Aunt Maude's for a great burger.
