Found this gem on our drive into Ames. Everything was freshly made, tasted great, and pretty inexpensive. Love the idea of a rotating menu! The staff were kind and appreciative for us coming in. It's also a fun vibe inside.

Lots of questions with our group and the young waitress is kind and helpful. She brings waters and then had to go through the list of drinks because they are not printed on anything. We got a Trio for the table. Trio is chips and salsa (mild and hot) queso and guacamole. The chips were thick and crunchy. When we ran low she filled us back up. We got our orders in. Quesa Birria Tacos for hubby and I to share. Only 3 Tacos but we knew we were going to share a light meal. I had not had them before. The aus just sauce for a taco blew my mind. I like Angus beef and dipping sauce. Who doesn't? They were really good. Everyone else enjoyed their meals. The kitchen here is smaller and when asked about a specialty item we were informed that the Ankeny location had it but the kitchen here couldn't accommodate. I want to come back and try more. I had the flame burger from the food truck years ago and I think I would do that again too.

So Taqueria Marissa has really good birria tacos... I was told by MANY people I had to try Nina's Tacos. So you all weren't wrong! Some darn good birria and I love the variety! Going to a farmers market to find her tacos kind of bit me in the butt though. A bag of freeze dried candy, a pie, and Nina's pretty much killed a Franklin. The farmers market and Nina's were easy to find. A big red trailer in the lot with quite a few vendor canopies at 5229 E University Ave in Pleasant Hill.... It's easy to spot. I was pretty close to their first customer today. I left work in West Des Moines at 330 pm and took 235E to University out to Pleasant Hill. 1 birria crunch wrap - $15 3 birria lumpia - $10 3 quesa birria tacos - $10 Everything came with limes and make sure you indulge in their hot sauce! $35 before tip and she gave me a free Coke to enjoy while I waited. Service was wonderful. We visited a bit at the window. I shared it was my first time ordering from Nina's and I'd driven across the metro to find her. I had a short wait for my order and a few people started to stack up at the window as I waited. The birria tacos were my favorite. The other two items lacked nothing. Their birria and consume in any form is top notch! SO tender and I love the flavor! Now if I had to compare Nina's against Marissa and Flame.... Why? It's like comparing three precious gems... ‍ Would I drive across town again? Heck yeah! That's really all I should need to say. Lots of menu items I haven't tried yet and it's a fun little growing farmers market everyone should check out. Especially if the crowds on Saturday morning aren't your thing. https://www.facebook.com/PleasantHillIowaFarmersMarket?mibextid=LQQJ4d https://www.facebook.com/ninastaco?mibextid=LQQJ4d

If you can eat this by yourself you should be making better choices. It tastes great and its well put together. But you better be ready to share it or save some for later. It's just huge, grande, ginormas, malaking, enorme. Its a take out only food truck. No tables to sit at and it's in the Auto Zone parking lot by a very busy ice machine. This place was real busy when I arrived. Get over here and don't forget to have the Oaxaca cheese on that sandwich.

I recommend the milanesa one!! Their tacos are made of homemade tortillas. You only need one because they are ENORMOUS. Very few Mexican places have good horchata or aguas frescas because they are usually watered down with all the ice. I recommend the agua de melón and agua de horchata. This is all good quality food. They have other traditional dishes from Puebla. Everything is fresh, delicious, and with generous portions. The customer service is phenomenal. They treat you very well! They are approachable, friendly, and patient. It was my first time there and I had a lot of questions. They kindly answered them. They also have a great system. They have speakers and call out your name when your food is ready that way you don't have to stand outside waiting, you can just wait in your car. We showed up at 10:45pm and they still had tons of people ordering food. When you see a lot of people ordering, it's a good sign. I also love supporting this business because they started from the bottom. They used to only cater and sometimes sell at the bailes. They worked so hard to make this food truck a reality. They also support local non profits. They always give back to the community. Support local!

The ladies working the window were wonderfully delightful. So polite and smiles that just make your day a little brighter... The parking area around the truck is gravel, but spacious and with two entrances/exits off the road. They are a cash only truck. I ordered the Chori Pollo Burrito and a Pastor Torta, The total for the two items was $16 before tip. They present you with a beeper so you can wait for your order in your car. You can do that... But if you like the smell of seasoned cooking meat and vegetables you'll want to just stand there and enjoy a little fresh air and let your olfactory senses take you on a journey. After a bout with Covid I enjoy the taste and smell of food just a little bit more right now anyway. I was the only customer there when I arrived and it was a short wait. Bang for your buck... This is not a truck where you feel like you've overspent and walk away still hungry. You know those fat little babies...? When they're pudging up and look like they can only roll from one place to another? This burrito reminded me of the knee to the hip on one of those little roly poly rug rats. You know what I'm saying... Right? The torta was a little lighter in heft, but just as big. Each item filled its to go container, was accompanied with grilled onions and a roasted pepper, and two different hot sauces. The verde sauce was my favorite of the two. The meat and vegetables were cooked perfectly. The meats were seasoned nicely. Everything was fresh and tender. The roll the torta came on was soft, but the outside surface still had a little crunch to it. The creaminess of fresh avocado and cheese in the torta really hit the mark. I love my local Clive businesses and I wish I'd stopped in here sooner. Good people and good food. https://www.facebook.com/elburritoloco1406/
