    Basic Combo Meal

I came here several times in college, but came back for a quick stop before going to an ISU game. I got a sourdough sandwich with turkey and vegetables. Pretty good, the sourdough just wasn't my favorite so I'll probably go back to my regular wheat. Quick, friendly service as usual. Plenty of seating with booths or chair. This place has a vibe that makes it seem like it's been an Ames staple forever and has lots of cool artwork. Street parking is available with meters, or park in the back for free (off the side street).

I ordered the Large Chicken Bacon Ranch on onion bread and it was amazing. The large sandwich was so huge I split it into two meals.

Absolutely fantastic place and a must for those living in Ames and those visiting. Fresh, quality sandwiches made to order that offers pickup. The generous helping of chicken is so juicy and flavorful, the bread deliciously freshly baked, and the toppings fresh and crisp. They offer a wide variety of options to cover everyone's preferences including vegetarian and gluten-free.

This unique deli is my favorite spot for a sandwich in Ames. You can either get a sandwich with combos they have come up with or you can create your own for a little less. I like to explore their combo sandwiches because they usually end up pretty tasty. Sides do not come with the sandwich, however, the sandwich itself will fill you up. I've tried the chili and Mac & cheese before, both are great additions to your meal. Be careful with the chili because when they say spicy they mean it. Customer service is great, you can add anything onto a combo sandwich at no extra charge and they will add a good amount of whatever you want. I have not had a bad experience here and neither have my friends. This is the place you come back to after you graduate and find yourself back in Ames.

    Reuben on the patio

Still 5/5 but I had to give some love to my favorite Ames locals especially during COVID. Went here today and experienced the patio!!! Never sat outside before but today was beautiful! LOVE the patio, it was a perfect way to enjoy my delicious Reuben sandwich.

Biggest disappointment was that while alcohol options showed on the menu, they were unable to serve any alcohol - claiming that their liquor license had not yet been renewed. I was craving a spring roll with peanut sauce, so to start things off, we ordered #90 Bo Bia steamed spring rolls with shredded shrimp, carrots and sausage served with plum sauce (see picture). While the wrap was thicker than the 'paper' wraps that I'm used to, they were very good - and I really liked the plum sauce. My wife was undecided and our very helpful waiter Archie, suggested #69 Com Ga Chien Xa Ot (chicken breast fried with spicy lemon grass - see picture). It was good, but both of us would have preferred a bit more spice, as we ended up adding Siracha at the table. I was considering #99 Banh Xeo Vietnamese style crispy pancake stuffed with shrimp, pork & veggies based on the menu picture, but Archie talked me into #97 Banh Tam Bi Xiu Mai udon noodles with shredded pork, steamed pork meatballs and veggies instead (see picture). I was impressed with the coconut milk and lemon sauce that he poured over it when served with the instructions to stir it all together - very tasty combination of savory, sweet and tart, with a very slight spiciness. We came in around the end of their lunch special so it was a little busy. Goes to show they're pretty popular and get a lot of regulars! The ambiance is pretty open and had a lot more room than I expected! I ordered the pad Thai with beef, which is one of their lunch specials. I asked for level 2 spice but I didn't notice anything when I ate it. I did hear it kinda varies depending on the staff so maybe I need to order a higher level. I used to go to that restaurant once a week. That restaurant is the mother ship.. I would rotate between Cafe Fusion and Thai Flavors. Liam has become quite a entrepreneur of Thai restaurants he is the major owner of Cool Basil Banana leaf, and Thai Flavors on Ingersoll. He is really worked hard to have very large restaurants that serve delicious Thai food. It's conveniently located along East 14th in a strip mall with limited parking It can be a busy place so depending on the time of day lunch or dinner you may have to walk a little from your parking spot to the restaurant. The restaurant is clean and.older but the food is still great It is similar menu items to his other restaurants. On this particular day I had red curry chicken, I.have had it at all his restaurants and it's consistently good. I always like to support a locally owned business. Liam has developed quite a system and serving large amount of people at all his restaurants although the East 14th restaurants still has that old mom and pop kind of feel. When he first opened this first restaurant there were not that many Thai restaurants around town. Now he's open many himself and there are other many quality Thai food restaurants around town I think all of his restaurants have some healthier menu including fresh vegetable dishes. I believe they all have vegan dishes as well. Of course the restaurant has pot stickers basil stir fry, pad thai, and other traditional Thai restaurant dishes. There is lots of variety in the menu. It's also about expectations, everyone is under staffed, so I always appreciate the service staff who are working. Having said that the service was fast and efficient . It's also about being realistic about the food. The food was served quick and hot. I would definitely check this place out. If you're in the area it's well worth a visit It was fun to visit an old neighborhood friend

I have to say that if you walked in and ordered not knowing anything I mentioned above, you would never know that the entire menu is gluten free. It was a brunch for us. I was very excited with the menu options. It was selective and well described. My mom was super excited about the chocolate chip pancakes and the waitress talked up the cinnamon roll. The Slap Jack meal was three chocolate chip pancakes. How can a pancake by fluffy and plump at the same time? You get the meat of your choice on top of that.
