Such a cute takeout breakfast spot! I ordered the Rad Muffin and it was so filling and delicious. I'd soo come back. Their whole menu sounded very good. The Rad Muffin comes with scrambled eggs, Black Forest ham, and American cheese toasted on an English muffin with their own secret sauce. My sandwich was also piping hot coming straight from the kitchen so it tasted very fresh and the combination of flavors was amazing. The special sauce was the perfect amount of spicy too.

Forced gratuity added by Flake, lovely.

I am only commenting on the forced tipping. I tapped my card. The employee did the rest. And by the rest, I mean adding a tip. This is not a tipping type of establishment. I stand on the corner. Wait in line to order, walk up to pick up my food when they call the name. Find my own table, if I'm lucky to find one , and throw my trash away. There is no service! I was so offended to see the tip on my receipt. Food is great. I've been here maybe 10x, though I must say I'm turned off by my last visit.

As a venice local, I hate to leave a poor review but this is not the first time the quality of an order has been below expectations. I would pay local for quality, but to be served a $15 sandwich with this lack of care is extremely disappointing.

Turner egg burrito and ask for avocado too. Don't miss their special sauce. Green sauce has heat not spicy

One of the best breakfast spots in Venice! I had the egg and turkey burrito with avocado. Savory. Now sweet craving for their gluten-free buttered banana bread was amazing. Breakfast of champions! Delicious food, fast and friendly service, and well priced. Definitely worth it. Great local spot right on Rose.

Always looking for the best breakfast burrito don't happen to be in Venice. Had to try this place based on the 1000+ reviews. Called in an order, very friendly and easy to understand over the phone. Burrito was ready in five minutes, even though it was quoted 15. Tried the turkey sausage burrito with tomatillo salsa. The salsa is a solid 10, was not expecting American cheese in the burrito, but it's still good. Definitely recommend not going on a Tuesday morning since there is almost no parking with street cleaning. It's a nice corner restaurant with plenty of tables around the sides and not too much traffic noise.

Hidden gem in Venice. It's a hole in the wall that has your breakfast favorites. We got the clubhouse croissant and the rad muffin. Both were delicious and highly recommend. Tastes like homemade sandwiches grandma made. There's limited seating outside, but we got a table easily on Sunday afternoon. There's street parking on Rose or in the neighborhood for a quick walk. The cashier was so sweet he even got my dog a piece of bacon. Usually you pick up the food at the window but they will walk your food to your table if you're dining in. Can't wait to come back and try something new!

Some things are more difficult to customize online for example a coffee with a shot of espresso (my pops wanted this) so it was easier on the phone. Staff was friendly. The turkey sausage burrito was super juicy and yummy. Croissant sandwiches were good too. Parking was super easy as we went there right when the opened on a weekday. Prices were reasonable.

If you're looking for an epic breakfast sandwich, look no further than FLAKE in Venice. Please order the Super Crojo: scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, smoked Gouda cheese, tomato, greens and a secret sauce on a toasted croissant. It is perfection. It cannot be outdone. There's a nice seating area outside, but limited tables so be ready to take your sandwich on the go!

Not bad of a place at all! I was in the area trying to kill time before a meeting in Santa Monica. I got there early due to the infamous traffic. This managed for me to have an amazing breakfast! Location is just the corner within the neighborhood right before heading to the beach. It's street parking, but at 8:30am on a weekday, it's super easy and got princess parking right at the front. You walk up and there were people trickling in and out. You can tell these are locals because they all had their dogs, they all were talking to each other, asking "where's ___?". It was nice. FOOD - I was TORN between getting a bacon or turkey sausage breakfast burrito. I usually measure how good they are based on bacon, but the local behind me said I MUST get the turkey sausage. I must say, it's delicious! There is no unnecessary fluff on these. Just a simple meat, egg, cheese breakfast burrito. I do wish I got the bacon, but guess I'll just have to come back! Service was friendly, helpful, and reasonably quick! You order inside and they call you to the pick-up window outside. They have a few tables outside to enjoy your food, which I took advantage of. Very delicious and their menu looks good too! I can't wait to come back

Flake is a great quick place to check out if you are looking for brunch on Rose. You can't go wrong with the breakfast burrito and a coffee. I come here pretty regularly if I am looking for a quick bite to get my day started in Venice.

A very homey and affordable breakfast spot in Venice that serves classic breakfast food (burritos, egg sandwiches, salads and wraps). No indoor seating, with a few tables outside , it's a quick stop to get a hearty and simple breakfast in. The Reggie Veggie is delicious with eggs, cheese, lettuce and breakfast sausage (could've done without the sausage) on a whole wheat toast. It was just what I craved - simple and healthy. After reading reviews, I ordered the banana bread (buttered and toasted), and it was perfect!! Tastes homemade and so moist. Don't skip this!

Seriously delicious!! I had rhe Rad Muffin. The ham is so good! Not tough, bland or too salty. Just right! The cheese will literally melt in your mouth. And their secret sauce is the real star. It's a perfect amount of spice. It tastes like chipotle, but I could be wrong. Ordered a bacon burrito. Came with a side of tomatillo sauce. Not spicy, but so good. Just wish it was a little more, I'll make sure to order some extra on the side. Love that they perfectly wrap up your food. And it will stay warm for almost an hour. My husband had to wait for his burrito at home and it didn't need to be reheated. The coffee is great! And the service was fantastic. Very kind and helpful staff! Plenty of seating for a quick bite. I was lucky enough to get a table with some shade. This will be my spot when heading to the beach in the morning. I can't wait to come back.

A great grab and go breakfast spot with affordable prices. The breakfast sandwiches are all very good and come quick. Always add the banana bread - toasted - for a treat!

What a wonderful surprise…read more I live just around the corner from Jamaica Bay Inn, and for whatever reason, it took me far too long to finally have dinner here with family and friends. I wish I'd discovered it sooner. The restaurant overlooks Mother's Beach, and the setting is exactly what you'd hope for: peaceful, relaxed, and quintessential Marina del Rey. You almost expect the view to be the highlight... Then the food shows up. For appetizers, we shared the hummus plate and the calamari. Both were excellent. As someone whose kids were practically raised eating seafood around the ports of New England, calamari is one of those deceptively simple dishes we judge pretty harshly. Beachside absolutely passed the test. I ordered the cheeseburger, which was solid, but the real stars of the evening were the roasted Jidori chicken and the jumbo shrimp fettuccine. The chicken was perfectly juicy, something that sounds easy but surprisingly few restaurants consistently get right. The shrimp fettuccine completely stole the show. In fact, it's now become my daughter's regular takeout order, and she's easily the toughest pasta critic in our family. Congratulations... you've officially earned the title of our favorite pasta spot in the Marina. The service was another highlight. Our server spoke both German and Italian, had a great sense of humor, and made the evening feel warm and effortless. Between the location, the food, and the hospitality, I already know this is going to become one of our regular family dinner spots.

First let me say that Nahum, who helped us was excellent. The absolute perfect balance of checking on you but not overdoing it. If it weren't for Nahum, morning sun, and the breeze, I think we would have sent back our plates and left. Really. We didn't tell him there were any issues, because once the decision was made to stay, why ruin his holiday too? lol Ordered coffee. Dreadful. Ok, no big deal. The food came out and I could immediately SEE The Unappetizing . It's special when you can tell that your food is going to be bad before you take one bite. The French toast was Sahara dry, burned and flavorless. The chicken, was competing with it in the dry and flavorless category-- I really can't say which was worse. I don't really use hot sauce and I drowned the tenders in Cholula just to make it halfway edible. Literally we could have waited for the AMC chicken tenders and they would have been better, which is horrifying. Particularly when you try to avoid fried food in general and now you are poisoning your body for no good reason. Husband ordered a steak and eggs, medium well. I'll attach the picture and I'll let you be the judge of whether or not it was cooked properly. Eggs were not good either. Immediately, I gave hubby more than half my plate because he eats All of Everything that's put in front of him. Something would have to get up and walk off his plate for him to not eat it. He was taught not to waste food, period. The exception was steak so that he could take it home, cook it, and then eat it. This was possibly the worst meal I've ever had, and certainly on a special occasion. So many places we could have gone today that would have been a different experience, but it will never happen again. Unfortunately, my experience at Great White in Venice left me disappointed, and the main reason was the service. First, we arrived around 9:15 a.m. after seeing that the restaurant opened at 8:00 a.m., only to find out that opening had been delayed until 9:30 a.m. Honestly, that wasn't a problem at all. We waited outside, and when guests started arriving, we got in line and ended up being among the first few parties seated. The food itself was good, and the restaurant has a great atmosphere. My issue was with our server, Nate. I understand that everyone has bad days, and I also work in the hospitality industry, so I try to be very understanding. However, the service felt extremely cold, detached, and uninterested from the beginning to the end of our meal. I'm not expecting over-the-top friendliness or a formal introduction, but there was virtually no warmth, no engagement, and no sense that he wanted to be there. Throughout our visit, an older gentleman working on the floor (possibly a busser or food runner) showed far more hospitality, attentiveness, and genuine care for guests than our actual server did. After we had finished eating, I ordered an orange juice while waiting for some pancakes to-go. I was asked whether I wanted the juice for here or to-go, and I specifically requested it for here. I then waited approximately 30 minutes. During that time, I received my check, paid my bill (including a generous tip), and watched multiple tables that had been seated after us receive their drinks and food while I continued waiting. My server walked by several times, looked in our direction, but never followed up or asked if we were still waiting on anything. Eventually, I flagged down another server, who was very kind and immediately looked into the situation. She returned and explained that the orange juice had apparently never made it onto the screen. However, I had taken a photo of my receipt, and the orange juice was clearly listed and charged. The issue was never the $10 orange juice. Mistakes happen. We all make them. The disappointing part was that nobody simply acknowledged the mistake or offered a sincere apology. A quick "I'm sorry, that was my mistake" would have completely changed the experience. One additional observation: I was told that cash is only accepted if you have the exact amount. That's perfectly fine, but I think that policy should be clearly posted at the entrance or on the restaurant's website so guests know beforehand. Again, I don't enjoy leaving negative reviews, and I genuinely wanted to leave a positive one because the food and atmosphere were enjoyable. Unfortunately, hospitality is about more than just delivering food to a table. Based on this experience, it seemed that our server either dislikes working in customer service or was having a very bad day. Either way, many other staff members we interacted with demonstrated the warmth, energy, and hospitality that guests hope to experience when dining out.

The hostess was amazing and read that we wanted a more secluded table not next to big groups so she sat us against the window in the corner to the left of where you walk in. It was a lovely spot - the people watching was fantastic! Revelation #1: if you want a specific accommodation for your table, make sure to note it in your reservation, be nice about it, but also be understanding of the time. We went early to get a good table. Revelation #2: if you want to avoid people and a loud atmosphere, come for an early dinner. They bump up the volume of the music and bass around 645-7pm which means everybody is talking very loud to be able to hear above the music. Our server came quickly, we never got his name or I would give him a shout out. Him and his shadow were great, but our server in particular had some great meal suggestions we never would have picked ourselves. Revelation #3: If you're a foodie, ask your server for recos. Ask what's new, what's freshest, what's special. Especially if it's summer because they will be getting the best of the best produce every week. The meal: - Thai crudo: 8/10 - liked it was slightly different than what you would expect at a sushi restaurant - *Cucumber salad: 10/10! Bright, fresh, summery, special. Lemon, Italian, Persian and mouse melon (mini) cucumbers with herbs and citrus. Beautiful plating, fantastic salad and reco. - Myrna potato pizza: 5/10. Wanted to love it but was really bland following the cucumber salad. - Sweet corn agnolotti: 9/10. Really tasty just wish there were more! Think there was heirloom corn as a garnish. - Spaghetti: 7/10. Spicy. Too spicy for me but we are generally no-spice people so if you like spicy this is for you. It's not overwhelmingly spicy. Flavor was good but not mind blowing. - Pana cotta with seasonal fruits: 8/10. Nice and light. Ours was mango/lime. Opted out of heavier deserts because we were so full by now. Meal size talk: totally wish we would have gotten less food. A perfect amount for 2 adults would be something like: 1 salad/veggie, 1 meat main and 1 pizza OR pasta + 1 desert. You also don't spend SO much $$$ on food that way, which if you get some things that are a little off you're not so upset about the bill. It's a foodie place with a creative chef... Anyways, great meal and great service. We'll be back to try out brunch on the patio with the remains of our gift card!
