Oh my god. Israeli. Cheesecake. Insane. AND THEN baklava. Wow. Will be going back for sure.

We came tonight for restaurant week. It was the 5 of us. The waiter explained that the menu serves two people so you can order two of the same entree or two different ones - we chose one salmon and one chicken. Then ordered extras thinking the set menu was for 4 people. However we were charged the restaurant week menu x 5 plus the extras. How does that make any sense when we were served two sets of everything......and a salmon filet, half chicken, and one of each dessert? read more

Amazing food - the salatim, hummus, hachapuri, lamb meatballs were all delicious. The pita is outstanding. We had to order extra. The drinks were solid. Ambiance is cool. Brick oven in the center of the restaurant where you can watch pita get made. read more

Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here tonight. I knew I wanted Mediterranean however I also didn't want your typical overpriced places near downtown. The only bad factors were they were out of a couple things I was eager to try & the fish needed to be deboned badly. I'll start by making a bold but true statement. This restaurant has the very best Sazerac in the city of Chicago. We arrived a half hour before happy hour concluded & were given the incentive. The sumac old fashioned wasn't terrible but clearly the Sazarak is the highlight of the cocktail menu. The hummus was good & I enjoyed the egg atop it. Pita was fresh out of the oven. The Salatin was ok. I enjoyed the carrots the best & must say that mixing the carrots with the hummus is a very different but delicious combo. Lastly the brazino when mixed with the pesto was quite enjoyable but the fact that it wasn't deboned made it a tedious task to eat read more

One of my favorite Mediterranean spots and I've tried a lot! The Jerusalem breakfast gives you such a wide variety of things to try. They have a cute cocktail menu and the drinks taste great! Been back many times read more

My first experience with Israeli food here in Chicago. The menu encourages to order shareables. They have a large variety of hummus types to choose from and do have a gluten free pita bread upon request. We ordered the roast chicken gribenes hummus and the skirt steak. Everything was tasty and they offer a full bar with some eclectic Greek and Israeli wine options. The highlight for me was the amazing and colorful patio was a hidden gem. Highly recommend making reservations. read more

Love the ambiance. Love the decor inside and the outside garden area is beautiful and serene. Had a wonderful evening hosting out of town friends. We didn't have a reservation and our party was 7. The girl helping me get a table at a time we needed was so accommodating and made sure she was able to get us a lovely table at the time we needed. (Friday night) The entire staff was friendly and welcome. Love it. Food and drinks were great unique menu. The menu is small but that allows them to prepare delicious entrees. Cant wait to return. read more

We had a lovely dining experience here! The Georgian bread boat is everything. but everything we had was divine. The pita bread is fresh and fluffy. Their zhug is on point. And we loved the vegetarian options. Even with the current order at the bar set up, the service was great. They were attentive for drink ordering. Kachapuri (Georgian bread boat) w roast vegetables, cheese, eggplant and matbucha (tomato jam). Delicious and highly recommended. Hummus - the has boiled egg was a nice touch. Perhaps could use a bit of salt for flavor. But smooth and fresh. Appetizer platter w labneh (cheese balls), roasted red peppers, pickled vegetables, and Moroccan carrots. The labneh was our favorite.... great to put on pita bread with the roasted red peppers. My only request is to put the Kachapuri with the cheese and egg on the dinner menu. It looks divine but is too heavy for brunch. So happy to see this place open again as it has the best patio in Andersonville. We will be back! read more

I've been looking forward to coming here for so long! We sat outside and while it was a really nice patio I probably would've sat inside next time because the interior is just as (if not more) nice. Service was kind of slow so it took awhile to be seen. Their wines are natural wines and we tried the orange wine which was very very good. We started with the hummus / cauliflower, pita, Gravalax and fries (all are pictured but I'm not sure if they're on the menu anymore) and finally we finished with the Chicken. Honestly we were starting to get full by the time this arrived and we probably could've lived without it. Food was very good, all easily shareable! Great flavor and very unique, there isn't anything quite like it in Chicago. read more

Fun bar that has a nice open space appropriate for COVID. I enjoyed the unique cocktails which were typical in price. Food wise, while at first glance seem pricey, are actually decently sized. Some classic Mediterranean dishes were well made and served promptly. read more

Best place. Such a unique blend of food and wine. This is fine dining with character and soul.

Outstanding meal. Hummus Im basar and pita were incredible. Little gem salad was so fresh and delicious. Did tow Salatim mini portions the pickles and the whipped feta... so good I'd eat it on cardboard but the delicious pita puts it right over the top. I've eaten here three or four times and it gets better. read more

Visit 12/20/23.Complete disappointment on dinner for 2. We ordered Turkish cigars, eggplant and kofta. 1 glass of wine and 1 small beer. 4 small cigars with a dollop of tasteless yogurt to dip. No seasoning, oil or flavor besides the faint essence of cheese. 1 small grilled eggplant sliced to fill the plate, again no incredible flavor to be had. While it did have minimal garlic, oil and parsley dressing, nothing tasted outstanding. 4 kofta balls that were exceedingly dry. We had to request an additional yogurt side to moisten and augment them. And were charged extra for the plain yogurt. Ouch! Cost of this meal was $74! Overall review: Minimal portions for the cost. No compliments to the entrees (such as rice, pita). I get the small plate, family style theme but at this price point, we expect more and it should be communicated. Lack of unique flavor to any of the dishes. Service was fine but I was shocked at what passed for a special dining experience. It was mediocre at best and I felt duped. read more

First time visit to FIYA. We ordered the Salatim, which elevates the typical vegetarian special most Middle Eastern places offer. The variety of tasting dishes seemed like small portions but with their home made pita bread and an order of fries there was plenty to eat for my wife and I. I understand they have a patio -- I look forward to sitting out there when it warms up. read more

Food was meh. My husbands cauliflower in the pita sandwich was undercooked. The cauliflower therefore had raw batter on it. Give what you got for the price, probably not going back. read more

Great food and perfect service! Outstanding lunch. Original hummus is great, as are drinks.

My husband and I celebrated his birthday here and we absolutely loved every part of it, the menu, atmosphere, and service. The host, Deana, was such a delight to talk to. She changed our reservation to indoors because of the rain, no questions asked. You can tell that she worked hard to make sure patrons could move indoors while also being safely socially distanced. Michelle, our server, was an angel guiding us through the menu and answering all of our questions. She was very eager to help us even though we could tell she was busy. Would return in a heartbeat! read more

When I ask for the waiter and they come to me and say ''hey man, you've gotta give me some time - I see you here, just wait!' That's just rude, racist, and leaves a bad taste in your mouth. And that embarrassed me in front of my guests. So beware of snooty wait staff if you care about courtesy in front of friends, family or professional guests. There are many better places on clark where you are treated well. I will not recommend to colleagues or friends ever again. read more

Let's put the great outdoor patio aside. When it comes to middle eastern food I always have high expectations, and came in FIYA for the first time with very low expectations since it's not the traditional devon or Lawrence Ave middle eastern restaurant, and I'm beyond surprised how much we liked the food, it's more Americanized middle eastern food, a little on the pricier side for the quantity but it was outstanding. The only reason its 4 stars because one chicken sandwich chicken tasted like a frozen breaded chicken heated and did not taste good, but the other 5 dishes were great! read more

The bread here is WOW and overall their food is solid! Service is very fast even for pick up but you won't feel like the food preparation was rushed because the flavors of the dishes are all on point. Tried the roasted chicken pita, beef pita and Moroccan fish to try a variety of flavors. The chicken had a nice smoky flavor and came with sauteed onions which brought the dish sweetness but otherwise probably was the least memorable of the dishes we had. The beef pita had an amazing veggie relish on it that had a nice acidic balance to the flavorful beef. Each bite had me salivating for more. Both pitas came with home cut freshly made fries which were so addictive! The beef pita and fries were my favorite! The Moroccan fish was the most unique and was served with a side of bread which at first surprised me. After taking a few bites I realized the magic wasn't in the fish but in the oil based sauce that they added a ton of spices to. I probably enjoyed dipping the bread into the sauce than I did the actual fish which I found a little underwhelming (perhaps I should have added more salt). Overall a solid meal and a place of come back to again. read more

My wife and I had been to this venue before and yet it looked different. Turns out, that's because it is different. The owner changed formats at some point, decided to go Mediterranean & added a wood fired oven in the middle. Current situation 3/2021, if the weather is nice, the front will be open air, socially distanced seating inside, and patio seating in the back. Bubbles are available on the patio as well. Sitting outside can be chilly for some, so know that they have propane lanterns as well to help take the chill off. Surprisingly, the mens room was jamming on the heat and was very cozy. The service was attentive and friendly. The pita made fresh in the wood fired oven was on point. We ended up ordering the sampler and the whole chicken. What did we miss out on, the charred cauliflower head, there was a teaser included in our sampler, but would def order that next time, it was just too good not to. The whole bird was good as well (especially when you split between two) but would try other dishes next time. Eyeballing the fish, or the shashouka for next visit. The cocktails while refreshing and enjoyable, we felt were priced a little high, can't have two if you only pay for one. If you like anise or licorice, definitely check out the wine based drinks they offer, my wife tried the mule one and it was lovely. I can see it going down very well in the summer. Know that their beer tap situation is currently offline, but they do have canned beer, wine, and cocktails still available. Cheers! read more

FIYA - Never have I had to leave a restaurant before fiya. As an avid traveler it's a shame... - Mediterranean Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

Worst experience ever in a restaurant. Ever! The hostess / "manager on duty" was clearly having a bad day based on several other reviews. I hope the owners recognize that picking loud confrontations with diners doesn't help create the ambience ... if they want to create a "neighborhood feel" like Jerry's! read more

The food was wonderful, a variety of flavors, and my friends who had drinks really enjoyed them.

Came with a group of friends and enjoyed their outdoor patio. A really lovely place to have a summer dinner outside! But the reason this isn't 5 stars is because it took a really long time to get our sodas (close to an hour from when we sat down), the waitress took our entree orders but didn't inform us that the plates we were ordering for dinner were very small (watch out: the falafel plate is $14 with 3 small falafel and a little hummus!), and the service was just extremely slow. At 5pm on a Sunday... Not like it was a particularly busy time or anything! However the food was overall really good. Our favorites were the cauliflower (if you don't like cauliflower, I bet this will make you like it!), shakshuka and that thick fluffy pita bread! If they could get their service missteps together this would be a real home run and we would be eager to come back! read more

Got the Jerusalem Breakfast, French Toast, Turkish Cigars, and Moka Pot Coffee for a group of five to share. (Perfect for our hunger level, but would recommend more for that many people to have full meals) We sat on the nice patio, and it was a little warm in the igloos but I know it's hard to predict a Chicago March. I look forward to coming back for dinner or happy hour. read more

Do not go here if you have any allergies or dietary restrictions -- you will get sick. I have Celiac and talked through the gluten free options with the server. They have gluten free pita, which I was excited about and ordered. They brought out our appetizers with regular pita for the other guests and then came out a minute late put down a separate plate of what they said was gluten free pita, which I began to dig into. Two minutes later they came out, again announced "gluten free pita" and put down a different plate of pita. Turns out the first plate they had given me (and that I had already started eating) was regular, glutenous pita. The server apologized, and the owner/front of house came by, explained that there was someone new on staff, and asked what she could do. I asked her to ensure the entree was going to be gluten-free, and she said she would. She also comped us one appetizer and the side pita. A few minutes later, out comes my entree with another regular pita on top of the fish I ordered. I told the employee it was supposed to be gluten free, at which point she picked the pita up off the plate and still served me the fish. I then had to grab our server and explain that I needed a new entree. Not great, but it gets worse! On the way out, I stopped by and told the owner/front of house: "Just so you know, they screwed up the entree too." Her response? "Okay." Sheesh. So I got the pleasure of feeling like crap all night, with the bonus of the owner not really even caring. Imagine if this had been someone with a peanut allergy! Which is all a shame, because the food is pretty good. But we certainly won't be going back. read more

The best Israeli restaurant in the Chicagoland area. Finally, after 30 years of living here someone comes in and makes food like they make it in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. The shakshuka (both Feta and Lamb) is fantastic. The schnitzel is outstanding. The sabich is delicious with perfect amba. Tried today the cauliflower and that too was just amazing. Looking forward to try the other dishes. btw - two thumbs way up for the service as that too is excellent. read more

FIYA - Jerusalem Breakfast - Mediterranean Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

Have been here numerous times, food is good, nothing stands out as spectacular. I do like the Jerusalem breakfast., as it is very different from typical brunch food. We were lucky to have Michelle as our server this past Saturday evening. She was the best part of the otherwise disorganized service. Through no fault of the server, food came out haphazardly , with one person's food taking much longer than the others. Timing needs to be improved. Patio is beautiful, chairs could be better. read more

I came here for brunch with a friend today. We reserved a bubble on their rear patio. It was such a fun experience and the food was amazing! We had the salatim with hummus, olives, tomato jam, and soft cheese balls. Then we had the cauliflower, green salad and shakshuka bread boat. Everything was so, so good. The pita is big and puffy and fresh. They have a nice wine selection from which we chose a sparkling rose. I don't live in the neighborhood but I'll be back again soon! read more

Place is very pretty and the ambiance is nice. But the menu is quite limited. I've lived in the middle east and Mediterranean area for years and the menu did not have options I've enjoyed. Service was very slow and with an attitude. A smile goes a long way. And the bar selection and prices were horrible. Drink did not taste like they had any alcohol at all and the tonic was flat. No Pinot Grigio or even Miller light. read more

Holy deliciousness! We ordered the salatim and oven roasted chicken pita and YUM. Salatim: hummus, eggplant (best eggplant ever), labneh (think Greek yogurt and cream cheese made a delicious baby) and cauliflower The chicken pita and fries... ohhhh those fries. My only "complaint" is that we ordered extra pita but didn't receive one. All good though as we are stuffed as-is! read more

I think this is the BEST Mediterranean food I've had in Chicago. SO flavorful and SO delicious. May not have the reputation of competitors like Aba or Ema but the food is so much better. I, and my friends, each got a salatim. The pita was pillowy and wood fire oven makes it so goooood. The hummus was DELICIOUS, tahina eggplant was fire, roasted red peppers were fantastic, the matbucha was one of my personal favorites, and the moroccan carrots were good too. If I had to leave one out, it would be the Moroccan carrots because the others seemed more unique? But all in all FIRE. One friend also got the cauliflower plate and loved it. I WILL BE BACK and you should go too. read more
