I took my desktop PC to them because it had stopped loading. They told me I needed a new case. I asked if they could move everything over to the new case so that I would have the same functionality with the new PC as the old PC. They assured me that they would. I paid a $60 fee up front that they said would apply to the invoice if I had the computer repaired. I picked up the new PC, took it home, plugged everything in, and it worked fine. Except. The next day, I noticed I had no sound. I figured it was a small adjustment of some kind and had no time to take the PC in again. About 3 weeks or a month later, I finally got tired enough of no sound to take it in to FixMyPC for repair. They called me back in a couple of hours and said the sound was working fine. When I picked the PC up, they told me my problem was because I had no speakers! I asked "isn't the speaker in the case, like my old one?" They said no, that new cases don't have speakers in them like my old one. I argued with them that they didn't sell me what they promised. The clerk said he would take it up with the boss and see if they would agree to refund me the $60. I went home, ordered speakers, installed them when they came in a day later, no problem. I waited two more days; no credit on my cc. I went in to the store and explained to the clerk the situation. He said he'd check it out and have someone call me. Got a call later that afternoon. NO REFUND. I told them it was their fault. He still refused to credit me the $60. I contacted AMEX to dispute the charge. AMEX is handling it now. I believe they had a change in management at the store, since the guy who refused to refund the charge is new - as is the clerk. read more

After a week and a half in the shop, he could not find what was wrong. When I asked for my $60 back since he could not diagnose the problem, he refused. Horrible, not only was the service and communication bad but they misdiagnosed my computer and I was suggested to just get a new laptop since they quoted me nearly $500 to repair the screen and "damaged RAM" which was not damaged after I brought it to another computer repair shop to diagnose it. SCAM artists trying to take your money and as shady as a car mechanic can be. Their management Zach was no help and all he said was "we told you what we say", well you saw wrong Zach and it almost cost me years of important information since when you did your transfer, it only transferred a fraction of my information to my new computer. I brought my Asus k53s in to Brian and Andrew about 6 months ago when i first moved back to Florida because it needed to have the power jack resoldered onto the mainboard. I'm no slouch when it comes to fixing my own computers, but years of amphetamine use has left me with an inability to hold my hands steady enough to solder. I called around to quite a few local and corporate pc repair stores, (ubreakifix, nettechconnect, geeksquad) and they all wanted exorbitant fees plus parts. Dont ask me how a 6 dollar component suddenly costs $50 from geeksquad, but it does. At any rate, Fixmypcstores prices were fair, and the work was quality and done properly the first time. Ok I dropped my tablet off on a tue and I was told it would be fixed my Fri or Sat that I would get a call about it. Well one week goes by nothing. So I call them. Told me it was not done and that it had a lot of damage and that they needed more time. Ok fine one more week goes by I hear nothing again from them. So I call the 2x time and got the same damn thing. So by the 3rd time I called they said it would be done the next day. It took them almost 4 weeks to fix it and I still can't put a screen protector on it because the screen is all bowed out. I get charged over $200 and was told get a otter box because the screen might brake again if there is to much pressure on it. There was glue all over it still. Pathetic!! I warned them I would review and they didn't care. Don't use these punks !! Brought my PC in Monday at 11AM. The computer wouldn't start. Probably needs new power supply. I paid the $40 deposit and they would be in touch after they run diagnostics. 6pm Monday. I call to check status and they said the diagnostics is running and will call when done. 12:30 Tuesday . I'm having lunch by the store and pop in. They say they are running diagnostics. I tell them that's what I was told last night. He shrugs shoulder like he gives a shit. 6pm Tuesday. I call and they say they are about to run diagnostics. I get upset as that seems to be standard line... I asked them if I can bypass the diagnostics and just pick up with the new power supply. They agree. 6:30pm Tuesday . I pick up PC and pay $60 for power supply. 6:45 Tuesday . I power up PC at home and it blinks insert disc ....I call and they say I wanted it before diagnostics. I asked what a non working computer does for me? 7pm Tuesday I drop off mentioning my displeasure. Kid tells me it takes 10 hours for diagnostics. I mention it's been over 30 hours 11 am Wednesday . I call and ask if they ran diagnostics . They say it's waiting for a open repair bench... I get upset and they could care less. 5 pm Wednesday. Unfortunately, I had a bad experience with these guys. The good: they were able to give my wife an upgraded hard drive. The bad: Everything else. Seriously, we had a fried hard drive, so I specifically asked them "please get my wife's pictures off of the hard drive. Two trips later, they tell me they are unable to get the pictures off.....but not before telling me that it would cost extra for them to extract the pics. So, I bought my own hard drive enclosure, and got the pictures off myself. There are a lot of freelance guys in the area who would do an honest job for less than the $160 this store charged. Literally the most useless place I have ever been to. My boyfriend and I bought parts to build a computer but were having trouble with booting it up. We brought it here hoping a pc repair store could help us figure out the issue--they told us everything we already knew and offered to buy a higher power source. It took 2 days for a diagnostics and the third day we stopped in to pick up the graphics card and was asked: "why don't you just take all of these parts back, since they're new, and exchange them?" ok that is not what we wanted to do at all but we ended up taking the computer back and wasted the 40$ spent when dropping it off. Website description: "Fix my PC Store offers to buy your old computers so that we may recycle and refurbish the parts to be used in other products. Currently, we are only offering buybacks on computers dating back to the Windows Vista operating system." I call BS, I was trying to sell my computers/parts for little money so I can buy a new motherboard for my newly built computer. But do to 'management' they can't buy the parts I had because 'the parts don't have a warranty' on the items. Why would a 2008 computer part have a warranty still? I would simply would have taken $10 per part so they can recycle them so I don't have to haul these parts around anymore, but nope... do to 'management'. Lastly, how about when you create a website include ALL the details without having people waste gas in order to find out that you can't solve their problem. Best of all there aren't even that many PC stores in the West Palm Beach area, maybe one or two stores (include this store), shouldn't you be better than this? Now my best bet is to sell these parts on eBay or Craigslist. I will NOT be going to this PC Store anytime soon. You have failed the city. read more

Using the internet and self help tools from Dell, I had self diagnosed that the problem was a motherboard failure. I told that to the tech, and indicated that I would have the motherboard repaired if the costs weren't too high. Was advised that I had a top end chip (i7) and it would be worth fixing. A few hours later they confirmed the motherboard was bad but said that it would cost $500 for a new board plus $179 labor, more than a cost of a new PC. So, I wasted $40. read more

AVOID THIS PLACE unless of course you want to get ripped off!! I took my PC in about a year ago for a boot up issue. After inspection/diagnostic ($40) I was told the motherboard was fried and I needed a new one. The total cost $380 for parts and labor, BUT if I brought them the part the labor would be $170. I take it back in with the newly purchased motherboard and was told that since I purchased the part they wouldn't guarantee their work and I should now let them source the part. Ok, so now they do another diagnostic, low and behold it's not the motherboard. It's a cable/board that goes to the harddrive and also now my keyboard is bad and needs replaced too. Total for all parts and labor $350 + $40 deposit + $40 (previous deposit). And I have a motherboard that I'm stuck with. Seriously folks, not how to run a business. Took my laptop to have it repaired after finding review on this very site. The staff was very very professional and did not make me feel computer illiterate! Although I ultimately decided not to spend the money to fix my laptop because the cost would have been almost as much to buy a new one. They did tell me that my documents had been stored on their server and I could access them from there or they would put them on an external hard drive which I had them do. My wife and I are from Myrtle Beach and were departing on a cruise the following morning. My computer crashed but I wanted my files transferred so, I could do some work on the ship. So, I googled computer repair near Jupiter Fl, and their information came up. I called and explained that I had purchased a new computer and that my old computer was dead so, all I had was my old hard drive and asked if they could transfer the files today. I also asked the charge for doing so. The answers were "yes, we can do it today and it will close about $20". I told them I would be there within the hour. It was about a 40 mile drive. My wife and I drove the 40 or so miles to them and the story changed drastically. After we reached the store, they told us, no we can't do it today and the cost jumped up to $60. I told them I had called and what I was told, and that we had came a long way to get it done but it didn't matter. He told me that Best Buy couldn't do it either, but he was wrong. My advise is not to deal with liars and gouges. Go straight to Best Buy, they are only about 4 miles apart and you might get treated fairly and with honesty. read more

I needed my screen replaced, HTC Droid. Paid them $126.00 to replace the screen, 6 days later the 'fixed' screen popped out. Bad workmanship the employee told me when I brought it back in. This time, they had my cellphone for 5 days. Went to retrieve my cellphone, the sim card was missing. SIM card has nothing to do with replacing the screen! This company actually took apart my cellphone for NO reason, lost parts and could not replace it as it was lost. Lost all my pictures, videos, text messages, contacts and information from the phone. Absolute idiots, plus they were looking into my personal information that is why the SIM Card was removed; nothing to find here, but crazy to think this company goes behind your back and works to look for "stuff" on your personal property! Overpriced, awful customer service. Paid $150 for a new screen and it doesn't work! Colors are fluorescent and screen keeps going out. Took it back a second time and they were awful. Only took it back to be fixed because it was under warranty. Then they tell me the screen is perfect and basically there is nothing they can do for me. Go to uBreakiFix if you want proper work done because this place is a scam and waste of money! 5 days of arguing and I was told "you're being redundant" by the tech that called me. This is a very dishonest and poorly run business. All the reviews I'm reading are the same as my issue. I dropped my computer off so they could repair an issue with the wireless mouse. Didn't hear back from the for 3 days. I called and let them know I think I knew what the prom was because I tested the wireless mouse on another computer I have at home and it didn't work so I connected a wired and it worked. They still charged $40.00 and when I picked up my computer because they lied about the diagnosis it did not turn on at all. They first said it was a bad power supply and then said it was the motherboard. I have filed a case with the BBB but I don't know how much good it will do. I brought my computer in to them to get rid of a FBI virus. The young man who took my computer in 1) spoke down to me (which is annoying because I am paying his outrageous fees) and 2) promised me I would hear from them in 24 to 48 hours. It is now about 50 hours later (not including a Sunday as the shop is closed Sundays) and except for the call I made to them, I haven't heard back from them at all. The young man I spoke to at about 11 am today told me that my computer was being diagnosed as we speak and I should hear from them very soon. I told him I thought it was ridiculous for it to take so long to diagnose and was told that they could only work on 20 or so computers at the same time. He did say that when it was diagnosed it would only take a couple hours to fix it. (What????) However, I have yet to hear from them and am very concerned about their scuples. The review by Alexander concerns me, a lot and I am headed there now to check on my computer. I'd rather start fresh from one of the places that has great reviews than give up my computer to these guys. (The problem is that with my computer down I didn't have a chance to check yelp before headed here.) If something amazing happens in the next few hours, I 'll be sure to update my review. read more

Better off paying the extra $ and getting it done at Geek squad or somewhere else. I initially went in because my computer wouldn't allow me to open up the internet and my Norton antivirus was giving me problems. The guy I initially dealt with was really nice. He explained it could be a virus or hardware issue. So I paid the $40 for assessing it. About 3 days later, they called telling me it seemed to be a virus and that they recommended installing their antivirus for $80 more. I asked what happened to the Norton that was already on there, they said it was corrupted. So they charged me another $60 to get of the viruses, without adding any other software. Got the computer, upon booting the computer. I started to get a new message about disk competent, blah blah something NFTS. It allowed me to get past this for the first few days but then it would load up and get to a black screen with just the cursor on it. So I took it back to them, and since it was within the 30 day guarantee, they said they would fix it. So when I went to the store to pick up my computer, they wanted to charge me $60 again. I explained how I thought it was within the 30 day guarantee. The guy had to go back and talk to the tech who dealt with the computer. He came back and gave me attitude, telling me they'll allow it this one time but if the problem persists then they're not going to fix it again unless I install their antivirus for $80. I said No thank u and took my computer home. So, I received my computer and tried to login. And the same darn message about disk competency NFTS came up. And within a few re-logins, back to the same problem. Soooo annoyed right now!! Should've went to GeekSquad at Best Buy. I probably would've paid a bit more, but would've had it fixed the first time. The only reason I'm giving it one star, is because the first guy I dealt with was super nice. But the rest of the staff- need some fine tuning in customer service. read more

I dropped my gateway laptop off and paid the 40$ for diagnostics, on May 9th!!!! It needed a power jack. Today May 25th they still havent gotten the part. 3 WEEKS LATER!!! I stopped in there several times to check on the status, and I was told the part was on the way. I requested to be called when it arrived and or an update on when it might come. I never recieved a telephone call either way. The clerk while he could see I was upset, and he stood there and was laughing. Talk about unprofessional.
