"Warning," If you have a hearing disability or are deaf, do not go to this place. The lady at the front counter is extremely rude and will treat you like you are stupid. I should have walked out on day one. However, I was exhausted from dealing with police reports, insurance company, injuries, and a hospital visit connected with my car accident. These events made me decide to get my vehicle fixed as fast as possible, so I stayed with Fix Auto. I did like working with Steve. Although he is not worth being treated like you are stupid by the lady at the front counter. If you decide to have your vehicle repaired here, make sure Fix Auto repairs all damaged parts with the correct parts. When I picked up my vehicle, it had the wrong grill on it. Fix Auto did fix the problem. I did have to come back on a different day to have them put the right grill on my vehicle. read more

Pugi Volkswagon (my trusted VW dealership for almost 20 years) recommended this place when I was rear-ended. The other drivers insurance allowed me to take my car wherever I wanted, and this place had the best ratings (and my dealership's endorsement). Anyway, they validated the estimate from the insurance, gave me an accurate ETA for work completion, and were friendly and did great work. I decided to trust the Yelp praises of this body shop. Looks like I was duped by friends, family and relatives reviews. I left my Honda CRV to have its passenger-side front fender fixed by this company. When I went for it 5 days later (although during the estimate, I was informed it would take 2 days to get it done) the whole fender was pristine. With a fine looking finish all over. The damage was magically gone and completely invisible. The fender was repaired and painted back with a matching color. I that would be it. Except for a small recess/ding. For the recess/ding appearance, looks like someone accidentally touched the fender while the paint coats were still drying out. As if it would've chipped if the paint was totally cured. Anyhow, I pointed the issue to John de Nicolo, the owner. And thus started my bad experience with this body shop. He explained that SPECIFIC point was not covered because he knew this ding was already there when I turned him the car, so it wouldn't be included in the part I paid $1000 to get fixed. The same part. The one fender. Mind you, a recess/ding about 3 inches from the major damage. Simple concepts: communication and expectations alignment. If something is already there and will not be fixed, I should be warned. If something is going to cost me more, I should be warned. Also they never do a final walk-through when you go pick up your car. You show up to the main desk, the receptionist pulls out a folder, informs how much you owe them and flashes a credit card terminal. I had to actually ask for a representative to walk over and inspect the service with me. Turns out it was pointless because I noticed a bad finish, asked for a fix and didn't get it. We have taken my sons car there two times for some pretty major body work after a couple of accidents and once for a quick fix and on all three occasions we have been very happy and satisfied with the work done. After the work was done you could not tell that there had ever been damage to the car. I think that each time we have dealt with the owner and or his daughter and they could not have been nicer. We just brought it in again for an estimate for more work. This time our interactions started out a little rough, and I had to confirm that this was the same ownership from before, but after a few minutes everything was good. I think we caught the owner at a bad moment which everyone has. We did not even think of taking the car anywhere else and we are looking forward to working with them again if anything else happens to any of our family cars. These are good folks that do great work and I trust them be my families go to shop for auto body repair. Everyone should have that neighborhood "guy" that you go to. For me, they are my "go to guy". Why not 5 stars? Just because of the strange start to today's interaction. read more

In the past couple of years, I've had bad luck with a couple of minor collisions. The good news is that Berlin is nearby. If you're going to have to deal with car repairs, these are the guys to see. The work is excellent and speedy--the most recent repair job came in at half the time they promised. They have good working relationships with my insurance co. (State Farm) and a local car rental (Enterprise), so the drop-off and payment logistics always run smoothly. Doesn't matter if the car is old (my 15 year old rusty Tracker) or brand new (my new red Jetta), cars come out of the shop looking great. The guys there are exceedingly friendly and helpful. And you get a box of free cookies (seriously!). God forbid you need body work because you were in an accident. But if you do, this is the place to go to in the StC area. read more

We recently had some rust repair done here - these guys are AMAZING! And Green!! Our vehicle is a 1999 VW Golf TDI with 115K miles on it. The process started out as warranty repair from Pugi Volkswagen for some rust that was forming on the tailgate. But, the front fenders were rusting as well. Plus, it's a 12 year old car - the paint just isn't great anymore! So, after a quote for full rust repair and repaint - we decided to go with it! They did an amazing job letting us come in to check out their paint books to choose the color. Then, my husband decided to get some replacement parts (new headlights, tail lights, and some interior panel changes). They were super flexible and took on all our extra 'stuff' and installed it without complaint! The paint looks amazing, they did a great job! So, weather you need a minor repair or want a full or custom repaint - definitely give them a call! They have a really nice waiting area with a flat screen TV and complementary beverages and snacks, so the kids didn't even mind going there when we needed to make a choice or check on progress! read more

I would absolutely recommend berlin fox valley collision! I had some front end damage as well as quarter panel damage. Not only did they replace the parts but they made the vehicle look brand new with there amazing paint job, and buffed out any remaining scratches I had on my 2007 nissian Titian. Beware if you need to use a credit card. This is my second time going here and I've been disappointed both times. Each time when I picked up the car I found things they said they would do but didn't perform the work. This time they told me if I paid with a credit card the bank would charge me 3.5% extra. I told them that was their merchant charge from the bank and they were passing it on to me. I've never heard of a business their size doing that. It's ridiculous. So I would've been charged $42 to use a credit card. read more

Awful! We went here after our car's front end was damaged. They used subpar materials and their workmanship is beyond sub par. In fixing the bumper/front end they stapled our mud flap to the wheel well, (I have a photo). It flew apart while we were driving. As s female, I had to stop on the side of the road and remove the hanging mud flap with a pocket knife. In replacing the windshield washer system they put it in backwards. The light they replaced was not sealed and filled with condensation after 1 day. When we returned to have these problems addressed the owner was rude and dismissive, telling us the staples where from the manufacturer, fact:manufacturers do not staple mud flaps to wheel wells. They never apologized for the errors thier shop made. They did begrudgingly offer to fix the issues, and so we set up an appointment. When the appointment time arrived they "forgot" to order a rental vehicle because hurricane Harvey had happened their were no cars available in Illinois. The Hurricane happened a month prior in Texas. After an exceedingly frustrating conversation, they did find a car and re-fixed the issues, yet again it is falling apart. I was rear ended damaging my rear hatch, taillights, quarter panel, bumper and some interior pieces. I called my roadside assistance, and they recommended I take the car to Fix Auto Fox Valley Collision. Big mistake. First time they "fixed" the car, I was told it passed their QC and was ready for me to come pick it up. I was told they were going to use all new OEM parts, but that was incorrect. The hatch and taillights were used, and the taillights were FILLED with dead bugs. When I inspected inside the hatch, I immediately found pieces of broken glass. There were also a few interior pieces that were either scuffed or still broken. They had to repaint the quarter panel and the blend was very visible as little grey dots, maybe from the extra layers of clear coat on top of clear coat? I'm not exactly sure. I left them with the car to fix those issues. The second time I was told it passed QC and they looked over it extensively...Most of the issues were indeed fixed, but they had to repaint a larger area of the quarter panel to fix the paint, as expected, continuing from the back quarter panel, over the doors, all the way to the windshield. Had they just painted this whole panel solid white the car would look excellent, however, there was blending done all the way, starting above the back door, ending midway down next to the windshield... I discussed my issues with the insurance company, who called Fix Auto to discuss the issues, and whoever they spoke to said they had no idea what paint issues I was seeing. They claimed I must have some sort of super eyesight to see the blend. After I finally got fed up enough to not want them to touch my car anymore, I took it home. Shortly after I noticed that part of the hatch must have came from a red car, as there is red paint visible when the hatch is open. I would not recommend anyone to even drive by this collision center. read more

I wanted to leave a positively positive review regarding the stellar service at Berlin Fox Valley Collision. Backstory: I have an '07 VW Jetta (I call her "Ladybird") that was rear-ended (gouge in bumper and protective bumper as well as a bit off center on the sides) and had, in the past, been meticulously parked far in order to avoid bumper scratches and the such. I wanted only VW recommended and certified collision work done; Berlin was the ONLY place that my dealership (VW of Fox Valley in West Chicago) would recommend---bonus was that Berlin was also within the State Farm Insurance network as well! Work on VW: I have to say, Berlin did an absolutely fabulous job fixing my bumper (pristine and only VW parts!); but it was the care and commitment that I received that I was truly impressed with. As an insurance claim, I was EXTREMELY impressed with how committed Berlin Collision was with the care and whole-car-care that I received. I dropped off on Monday and it was ready by Thursday (Lynda is such a pleasant person to deal with as were all the gentlemen I encountered when dropping "Ladybird" off). In and out in, literally, 5 minutes (even the initial evaluation was concise but thorough at 10 minutes). Berlin also arranged (via State Farm), my rental at Hertz and a final drop off of my rental at Berlin. Who likes to deal with being hit in the bumper and having to fix it and all the rigmarole of organizing and trying to coincide all of the details--Berlin worked with the insurance company to make the whole situation painless and seamless as possible---that is Teamwork! What honestly and truly overwhelmed me was how well they took care of "Ladybird". My car, on the outside may be "pristine", it is a whole other story when the doors open! I have a German Shepherd puppy that decided to shed his winter coat the weekend before and there was hair EVERYWHERE. I warned Lynda that if the tech that worked on my car had allergies, they may need a hazard suit---dog hair everywhere! I vac'd and lint rolled but you know those stubborn dog hairs that you can't get to? Berlin did! I cannot say how happy I am with not only the exterior body work of my car, but also how floored I am that my interior looks like it was detailed back to its showroom days! Excellent experience! Top quality work! Great communication! And, it was all on time and on budget. Let me start by saying that with a family of three teenage drivers and between my wife and I, we have seen more than our fair share of auto body repair shops. Fix Auto Fox Valley is by far the best. Unfortunately my car was side-swiped right before Christmas, which, anyone knows, is probably the worst time to be without a functioning vehicle. Tony at Fix, was not only able to get my car in for the repair but got the factory BMW parts on order the day I dropped the car off to ensure that they could meet my requested deadline. I was kept informed all through the process and was more than pleasantly surprised when I got the call to come and pick up my car. They were able to handle my insurance deductible over the phone which was a plus for me. And upon arrival I was amazed at how fantastic it looked. The car was repaired to perfection and thoroughly cleaned. The whole Team at Fix Auto were great and while I do not look forward to the next time I need auto body repair, at least I know that when it does happen that I have a rock solid place to go! read more

I have recently had Fix Auto Fox Valley repair my vehicle and after three trips back to correct problems that they caused during the repairs to my vehicle, I was told that the additional mechanical damage was caused by me! Let me start by saying, my background and careers work has been in the automotime industry - both as a technician and in management. That being said, when I picked up my car and started using it on a daily basis I shortly discovered the drivers rear power window did not function from the switch on that door. The manager stated " that I caused the damage in the door and it was my fault not theirs!" Ok. I let it ride, and asked them to do the best they could to make as much of the door work as they could. Upon picking up the vehicle, the manager told me he had his technician remove the door panel, adjust the door latch, replace the missing hardware, and install missing screws. (Bear in mind that they replaced the door!) This was the second repair. When I picked up the car, the window still did not work and I was told the switch was missing the pins and could not have functioned prior to their repairs. I took the car home and performed a root cause analysis as to why the window would not function from that doors switch. I started by removing the door panel. Problem 1 - no screw was holding the panel at the bottom, only one of 10 clips was present to hold the inner panel to the outer door shell. ( I was told these were replaced when I picked the car up the second time) obviously not! Problem 2 - the window switch had been forcefully pulled out of its mount breaking it's plastic tabs, separating the switch into two pieces! I had to plastic weld the inner door panel and replace the switch. Upon reassembly I noted that they had attempted to reassemble the door with the wrong screws and some of them bottomed out log before the panel was tight causing rattles. I replaced the hardware with the proper pieces and as expected, now everything functions as designed and no rattles!! Fast forward to today, I opened the tailgate of the car ( it is a station wagon ) and was showered with water that was trapped in the tailgate! Another thing that I have to deal with! - I WILL NOT ALLOW THEM TO TOUCH THE CAR AGAIN!! I have lost all faith in them and do not feel that they are capable of tying their own shoes let alone repair a vehicle! read more

This is an owed review. Back in the day, when I was much younger and much crazier, these guys fixed my Lexus SC400 twice. The first time, another body shop in Orland Park, IL did a horrendous job on a rear end, even threw their tools all over my spoiler, completely careless, scratching my car, and mismatching my paint. After complaining to our insurance, they sent us to Berlin Auto Body in St. Charles. I never forget a face, and even if these guys changed their name, they are the same stand up, honest men that I remember. They took apart the previous shoddy job and repainted my Lexus right. Both times I went to pickup my car, I was always amazed at the job they did- completely seamless, quality like no other, like no accident ever, ever happened, and always made my car look brand new. Today, I am married to an auto body shop owner and I appreciate those that work hard to completely integrate old and new. I got into a car accident when someone hit me from behind. Because of that, her insurance company covered my repairs and gave me a list of preferred body shops to choose from. I decided to go with Berlin based on the Yelp reviews, which was the best decision for my car. John helped me from start to finish. Getting into a car accident is hard enough as it is, but they made the whole process almost effortless. They're passionate about what they do and they care about their customers. You won't find many body shops with a fridge full of drinks and a drawer full of candy. My only complaint is me having to call to check on the status of my car after not hearing anything for a week. After talking to John, it appeared that there was a miscommunication somewhere. No biggie. They also provide a lifetime guarantee on services they performed on the car, which provides a nice reassurance. Don't hope to get into another accident ever, but should it happen, they would be my first choice to go to. read more

They got the job done but they're dangerous and sloppy. 2013 VW Touareg with 13K in damages. They didn't reinstall the piece that goes under the hood nor was the hood completely painted inside. It was left with a big bare spot in the middle. Of course I didn't notice until I popped the hood several months later. What's worse is the left a pry-bar under the hood and engine!!! YES, a big steel pry-bar! It fell out at the dealership when I took the car in for service. Also discovered several months later. What the heck were they thinking?!!! This could have come out on the highway and killed somebody! Thankfully nobody was injured. One of my lights wasn't installed properly and had to be adjusted back into place. The car is working fine and didn't have any electrical or mechanical issue. The bodywork was decent but dangerous and sloppy. I wouldn't recommend this place. I really hate to write any bad reviews, but this place just did not live up to my expectations. The first person who assisted the first time around was ok. But the rest of the staff are just useless. I had 3 cars to take in due to hail damage. The first car took over 2 weeks. I was not explained anything on the estimate, there are items on the estimate that say headlights but that was not replaced so did they just charge the insurance company? As far as keeping you in the loop on the progress of your car it is non existent. I left the rep about 4 messages and received a call back 2 weeks later and he was confused asking about my rental car which I never had. The old man up front was plain rude when I asked him for status he said I don't know anything about your car. How can a shop not know where the car is? I still gave them a second shot with the 2nd car. They do not listen, I told them to buff out some scratches even if I had to pay for it and nothing. Oh and I must add it took them over 3 weeks to get the second car repaired. If you want a free box of cookies weeks and weeks after dropping your car off. than I would say go to this place. If you don't care for a box of cookies and want great customer service, go elsewhere as you will not get that at this place. As far at the 3rd car they wont be handling that one. Sorry guys but you really need to work on keeping your clients informed, return phone calls, staff needs to be more courteous, you need to do a final walk thru when picking up a car, you don't just hand the keys over. I never write reviews but here it goes. Let's start off by stating that they were quick with my car repair, taking only 3-4 days. I gave them a good rating on their satisfaction survey via e-mail after my repair. Good experience with them until today. I had a rental car for 4 days. I was told by the clerk at the front office of Fix Auto that the rental car dealer I would receive the vehicle from takes my insurance, so I provided my information, otherwise I would not use them. I see that I have been charged out of pocket from Hertz and so I call them to clarify the charge and they advise me on what to do. I call Fix Auto to only clarify the information provided on my receipt and was seeking what they recommended I do before I call my insurance, as I just wanted to cover my bases before calling my insurance. Once on the phone, I only get to ask for a specific person and get to state my name before the clerk on the phone tells me it's not their problem, it's the insurance. I go on to verify information and she says "don't blame this on me." I NEVER once said it was her fault, nor did I EVER say it was their problem. She had no excuse to become defensive or cut me off as I was speaking. I am a respectful client, I paid my deductible once I arrived to pick up my vehicle. Other than receiving my vehicle back on time, their customer service skills were quite poor and unsatisfactory. I hope I was able to assist anyone in their decision before choosing a repair shop. read more

At the start of this winter season, I needed to address my passenger door on my 2004 Nissan Xterra. An original rust spot repair and paint job needed to be redone due to an earlier poor choice of a service professional on my end. Thus, I ended up at Berlin to fix this wrong. As this was not an insurance claim, the assistant manager knew the costs were coming directly out of my pocket and we came up with an ideal compromise that fit my needs as well as allowing Berlin to be appropriately compensated for their talents. The physical work (color match and pattern) was excellent in the end and I truly felt that they added a lot more as a service company than other body repair places do. In fact, I noticed something rather interesting (and positive) when I was picking up the car. While the asst. manager was walking me around my car showing what they did, another gentleman came out and seem to "hover" in earshot but never really introducing himself. In retrospect, I suspect he was either the manager or owner making extra sure that I "the customer" was fully satisfied. This extra detail of attention was notice and I can completely say this business it worth it's full five star ratings. read more
