Updating our review as we have now visited a number of times and keep coming back as we are impressed with the service, specials, and menu. One of our new favorites is the Nashville chicken flatbread (all flatbreads and bottles of wine half price on Wednesday's). The outdoor patio is also awesome for when the weather is nice! We just stopped in tonight and happened to be there for their 10th birthday so they were handing out promotions and we each got a certificate for free appetizers as our prize! Will be back soon!

The food, ambiance, service and location was excellent! Our only critique is the Southwest Egg Rolls lacked chicken. It tasted like a cream cheese egg roll. There was no texture of chicken at all. The flavor was good but it would have been nice to see and taste the chicken. We would definitely revisit when in town.

Not far from the Mayo campus and next to a Comfort Inn and Suites, so we just walked here. Wednesdays they have several drinks specials and half price bottles of wine and $8 flatbreads. We got a bottle of wine and both got salads. They were huge! I got the Blacked Chicken Quinoa Salad and my mom got the Cherry Almond Apple Salad and added chicken. We also did the $3 bread with a garlic herb butter and maple bourbon butter. Both were great with the 3 warm rolls. Our waiter was very thorough and polite. We sat outside, which was a little warm but cooled down as the sun went down. It seems like the spot to be for happy hour. I'd definitely come back if I was in the area!

I had the beer battered walleye burger with garlic fries and the chef's choice soup. Came in here out of curiosity since I've tried their catering once and salmon was good. The food came out quickly and the servers were pretty quick to come out with water. The garlic fries were nice and crispy though the garlic came in a few clumps so I liked adding them to the walleye burger since there wasn't as much aoli which I felt could have been put on the top bun to add a little more flavor. However the walleye was very crispy and soft inside and the fries also paired well with the soup which definitely hit the spot on a cold winter day! Definitely would probably come here with fr next time and not alone (a little awkward otherwise) but it was nice to check out when hungry. A little pricey but somewhat expected for restaurants in this area and still filling overall. The restaurant is dimly lit overall but I think that's typical for kitchen + bar restaurants and there are lots of candles and overhead lighting.

Travel day on the way to a family vacation in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. We booked a room for the night at Sleep Inn and Suites and I noticed Five West was very busy almost next door. We were in a "let's start our vacation" mood so we went and checked it out. I was afraid they were so busy we would be waiting awhile. But they seated the 3 of us directly. We looked at the menus. Friday and Saturday are supposed to be a Prime Rib special, but when our server introduced herself she mentioned they were out already (7:30 Friday night). I would have likely splurged on it for myself but I checked on the rest of the menu. I decided to order the double pork chops with potatoes and spinach. My son had the steak fettuccine, with a filet over pasta and vegetables, and my wife had the chicken and waffles with maple and bourbon syrup. We also ordered the calamari appetizer but ate it before I was able to get a picture. Everything tasted delicious. The pork chops had a lot of red onions in the sauce on the potatoes and the sauce was a little spicy. The pork was obviously smoked and then grilled but very moist on the inside. Our service was very good and timely. I suggest going to Five West for great food and a good atmosphere. Just be a little early.

We love 5 West! The ambiance is fabulous inside and out. You can't go wrong with either seating choice. We really love the patio and they are dog friendly. The calamari is a favorite as well as the flatbreads. Great salads and their Friday night prime rib is solid for the price. Service and cocktails are always impeccable and they have a nice wine selection.

We arrived just before 5pm on a Monday and good thing we did because the place filled up quickly. The service was good and the food was even better. We will definitely be back when we come to town next time.

Stellar service, great food--this place really has it all for a lovely date night escape! We were seated right away, and throughout our visit, our server Nikki B. took great care of us. She was so genuinely friendly, we ended up having a nice laugh and brief chat every time she came around. As a cider-lover, I was delighted to see Cider Boys on tap, and my husband enjoyed trying two different beers. We'd just barely made the cut off to order before happy hour ended, too. I ordered the margherita flatbread; it was really good, in large part because it included a luscious, thick layer of cheese. My husband had the parmesan walleye dinner, which he really enjoyed. I think the only nitpick I can offer is that the high-ceilinged environment was rather loud, even though it wasn't packed with people (though it was sure starting to fill up as we left). I was glad that I could sit next to my husband at our table so that we could talk. We were left with a high impression of the delicious food and the kind service. We'd definitely eat here again.

    Alejandra G.

I love their carne asada salad. It's an expensive restaurant so come prepared $$ We ordered a nacho appetizer and it was better than I thought. My dad got 3 carne asada tacos for $17 which is ridiculous and they charge an extra $2-3 for chips and salsa.

There may be other influences but those 3 in general cover a lot of styles, each on their own! My person and I shared 2 appetizers. We had Crunchy Wontons with birria (slow roasted beef in a red broth that is then shredded - similar to an American pulled pork in consistency). They had a layer of creamy coleslaw slaw dressing and a layer of corn salsa between the meet and the wonton. Since these were open-faced wantons this was important to keep the balance of each each Wonton 's flavors just right. Oh! The red sauce the meat was in was Kung-Fi Sauce. It was very flavored so in that sense spicy and for me any more of whatever brought the heat might be too much, but this certainly was Master sauce. Steak Fries was the other appetizer. A play on words. French Fries ... extra long, well fried to hold up to the steak toppings and not at all oily. In addition to steak there was guacamole, and another sauce. Huh, I was so dazzled by the excellent steak I can't think of the other ingredients beyond guacamole.. I did end up using a fork to make sure that I got everything onboard the fries But they supplied the forks. I stayed at the Homewood Suites and ordered delivery through Grub Hub. They promised our meal would be there between 17:35 and 17:55. But it arrived at exactly 17:30 t may be relevant to someone to know that my taste buds are very sensitive to any red pepper flakes They cause me to cough whether the finished product tastes spicy or not. I had no problems with any.of their food! Unfortunately, I cannot answer any questions about the restaurant or employees but the food was awesome and timely. Andrew was completely rude and had a horrible attitude the whole time. I asked a question about an item on the desert menu since it wasn't listed and he responded with "what I mentioned earlier....." and paused as if I was going to magically remember what flavors he had said until he eventually repeated the options to me. My husband caught his tone and immediately was upset after this. Also a fruit fly had flown into my friends drink which is not only gross but not our fault and when asking if he could have at least that dumped out and the same amount poured into it since it was on ice he said well that's basically water now and then said but okay sure whatever and walked away. As someone who has worked in the customer service industry I would have been absolutely mortified to speak to people this way and then to return to the table and show my face again. It was very disappointing. We wanted to speak to a manager but also wanted to get out as fast as we could as well. However we did keep the receipt to make sure we had his name. I hope he is okay because clearly something was making him very sour. Poor guy. I DO NOT recommend.

Just wanted a bit more sauce. The salmon was cooked well with a crispy skin underneath. Flavors played together nicely with the textures. We enjoyed the dessert as the textures (there's a theme here) had great interplay with the flavors in the dish. Only wish that pastry was hot. The ambience is nice and chill. It can feel a bit cramped but gives kinda a speakeasy vibe meets hipster. Note that finding parking is a bit challenging here. There are two booths on the window that would make excellent date spots. The reason for the rating is due to the service. I made a reservation for the spot and made reference to it being our anniversary. However, nothing was done to reference the reason for the dinner. I had never been there and didn't know about the booth availability.
