They did say we could 'try to get on the list' if we called Saturday morning. Otherwise we could make an appointment for 5/21. I called to talk to Tiffany (owner) this morning and was told she was not in today. I asked to have her call me as soon as possible. I was then told she did not work there anymore. I asked if she or the family sold it. I was given a runaround but was eventually put on hold and then the phone call was dropped. Sadly, the owner of Nick's passed away and this company is now owned by Dunrite. I called that company based on the reviews of Nick's Air Services, but their services has definitely NOT been the same as mentioned on this profile. In summary, this company is expensive, can make improper recommendations, and the office is very difficult to get anyone to call you back. I absolutely would not use them again in the future and - had I read their Yelp profile for Dunrite Heating & Cooling - would never have called them in the first place. My experience: My air conditioning due to leaked refrigerant due to another HVAC technician not correct. Nick's/Dunrite came out during the same day and quickly identified the problem. There was a leak on the schrader valve. They got us back to running - for nearly $200/per pound of refrigerant. 5 lbs = about $1,000. Wow, but we had no choice as my original installer was not available. Our unit has not been keeping up with the 90s for the past two months and the technician recommended 3 different options. I chose 2 of the 3 options: a larger return air duct AND repairing the plenum. I was anxious to get the work scheduled and it took me hounding them to get them to schedule the work. Communicating with this office was very painful. I would never get calls back and would just get a text message indicating when they had scheduled the appointment. Their front desk support was exceedingly helpful but not empowered to do anything besides schedule appointments and pass along info. I finally had the appointment and the technician went to the wrong address. I got a call from them saying they had been at my house and then they proceeded to the next job. I spoke to them and learned they were at the wrong house, but could not turn around to go back to my house. I had to wait until the following week to get the appointment rescheduled. What a disaster. It got worse. The work was finally done - the return air duct and the plenum. I waited a couple of days, but there was NO change in the air conditioning. I called them back again and they scheduled another technician to come out. The second technician came out, a more senior technician, who confirmed that the unit was undersized and "working as it was designed" to cool at 75-76. I don't know a single person who is comfortable with 75-76 in the house when the outside is in the 90s. I called customer service again. When I finally got someone, I got a call from William, who is their most senior technician (an older guys in his late-50s probably). He came out with the original technical and instructed him how to properly do a heat load calculation. They determined indeed the unit is undersized and I needed a 3 ton. I called back the customer service asking for a refund to the work. I've called at least 3-4 times, each time speaking with a very nice person. However, I've still not been called back. What a disaster. I've finally had to resort to filing a complaint with my credit card and disputing it through them. It's unfortunate and I didn't want to have to do this, but - when no one will call you back - it's very very hard to trust this company to make things right.

But before he left he asked me again, and you're sure you're the home owner? This time right in front of the other contractors working in the home and everyone just looked at him like that's fucked up dude. Shortly after the guy leaves another guy called me who could've been the owner and says that they aren't taking the job. When I asked why, he said his guy that just left said he didn't feel comfortable doing the job. And I said what, why? He said it doesn't matter my guy doesn't feel comfortable doing the job so we're not and you need to find someone else and then hung up. I waited a couple of days for them to come out and then wasted all that time doing the walk through, I felt I was owed an explanation. But of course never got one. So I figured this racist white man couldn't believe that a black man could own such a nice house and didn't believe that I did so much so, he didn't feel comfortable doing the work. Estimated cost of repairs $7,000. That is right, not concerned about the fact that if completed this repair I would have paid Legend Air over $30,000 in just 7 years of owning a new system. Not a typo $30,000+. And he admitted when they sold me they installed an untested system that is basically garbage. Run away from these people. They sell crap and then keep charging you over and over. I was very impressed with Legend when they installed my new systems 7 years ago. They seemed to be reputable and reliable. About two months after installation, I went in the attic and found they destroyed the steps up to the unit (two steps). I left a message and never heard back. Not a big deal and I let it go (but I curse them every time I have to change filters). Last year just before the system was 6 years old this "excellent" Lennox system had to have an Evaporator Coil replaced. Cost for labor alone over $4K. And they told me I needed a Compressor Saver. I installed that also (by why was that not needed when I installed the system). Now this year they came out and what do I need - A COMPRESSOR. I have come to the conclusion they installed garbage equipment, with poor installation and sold unneeded or items that actually caused problems. To top everything off the put a sign in my yard that said I loved my A/C man. They didn't ask, just put it in my yard. I don't love them and would not recommend them. FYI - I change my filters on a regular recommended schedule, perform all maintenance and do not abuse the system. So, after 7 years I am basically replacing the entire system. I am not sure if I was a sucker to start with or they have changed, but I would STAY AWAY FROM LEGEND AIR.

David came out at 2AM, explained to me why my unit needed replacing and then came out the following Sunday to replace the unit! I have not seen this level of service for many years. I had been using AC Works for regular HVAC maintenance for the past couple of years. Within just a few hours of a scheduled maintenance visit, I noticed that my home was getting unusually hot. I went into the attic to check and found that one of my HVAC units was no longer working and that water was dripping in an area where it shouldn't have been. I immediately contacted AC Works. They returned, inspected the unit, and told me that the motor had failed. When I asked what could have caused it, I was told that a power surge had blown the motor. Fortunately, I have a Ting electrical monitoring device that continuously monitors electrical activity in my home. I checked the history for the period following the technician's visit, and there was no recorded power surge. Naturally, I questioned the explanation. The unit stopped working only hours after routine maintenance, and the stated reason did not appear consistent with the information available from my electrical monitoring system. I wanted to understand what actually happened. My intention in asking questions was not simply to assign blame. If something went wrong with the system, I need to understand the actual cause so that I can prevent the same failure from happening again. If the cause really was electrical, I would want to address that. If it was mechanical or related to something else, I would want to address that instead. Giving a homeowner an accurate explanation matters because it affects what corrective action should be taken. What disappointed me most was the response when I questioned the power-surge explanation. Instead of addressing my concern with a clear technical explanation, the conversation became defensive, and I was told that I was being rude. Equipment can fail, and mistakes can happen. I can accept that. What I find much harder to accept is an explanation that doesn't appear to match the available evidence, followed by defensiveness when a customer asks reasonable questions about it. After being a customer for a couple of years, I expected transparency and a professional explanation of what actually happened. I am still interested in understanding the true cause--not only because of what happened this time, but because I want to make sure it does not happen again.

I purchased a new full home replacement system in April 2023…read more I have required service three times as the contacts(not any related) and the blower fan, Oct 2024 and June 2026, in the air handler has failed twice. I scheduled service and was told someone would call thirty minutes before tech. No time window, just a day. I contacted them at noon to confirm still scheduled and was told early to mid afternoon. At 5pm I was told the tech was an hour out. The tech arrived and confirmed that the blower was out and would have to be ordered. The tech then went into upsell mode and from wanting to estimate for more insulation to complete duct replacement. Three year old system and multiple techs from this same company having either installed or repaired and now this tech is recommending complete duct replacement as my family sits in mid 80 heat waiting for ac to be repaired. This tech says that the old techs from Lyons "don't know as much as he does" and that is why they never recommended the upgrade. I purchased from Lyons because of the great reputation at the time. In my opinion, this is not the same company and the customer service had taken a back seat to upselling.
