My husband, three children and I stopped in for our first visit after an appointment at the children's hospital. With dozens of options we chose Five Points Bakery as it looked to fit our interests! We enjoyed a lovely lunch surrounded by an enchanting atmosphere with nice music playing. Unfortunately, this all came to complete turnaround at approximately 2:55 - lights started shutting off, the music halted, garbages were being emptied, vacuums and brooms out.... this is great to see such quick strides being made to prepare for closing however it completely kills the ambience for customers. We were nearly finished as it was so it was "okay" but what wasn't is one of the kitchen staff who approached our table asking for our dishes and telling us the establishment was closed. I replied that we just paid $80 for our meal and planned to finish without her needing to harass us out (again, minutes from being naturally finished anyways). She in my opinion distastefully followed up with, "well staff will be leaving soon, we have plenty of seating outside you can move to." Mind you this conversation was literally MINUTES after the 3 o'clock closing...it was 3:02 to be exact because I looked after she walked away with whatever plates she could gather from our table. We arrived at 2:05 (I know because I took a picture of a snail on the cactus outside before heading in), got our food at 2:36 (when our text letting us know our food was ready), which really didn't give us a ton of time to eat, especially with three small children... I'd maybe understand this attitude (not that a bussiness should give customers any ever) had we strolled in just before closing but we literally got there with what should have been plenty of time to order, have our food made and eat without an issue. I was really taken back by this employee and believe she should be better trained in this area and dealing with customers. It was quite a sad ending to such an otherwise marvelous meal and experience. In fact, until this happened my husband and I were discussing what a wonderful place it was. I'm here to tell you that this is less about toast and more about a magical carb experience. When we walked into this rustic spot, it looked like an Instagram influencer designed the entire space. Wood finishing, great lighting, local art filling the walls, and gorgeous plants growing everywhere. They've got two stories, so you should be able to find a seat and take it all in. With your toast, you can go savory or sweet. We went sweet. My girlfriend went with the power toast while I went for cinnamon swirl. We got table service with beautiful cutlery and plates. The bread, the condiments, the toppings, all tasted so damn fresh. It was almost impossible. I tried to savor every single bite. It's located on a quiet little side street which made it feel more intimate but which made parking a slight (but surmountable) challenge. Whenever I heard about Five Points, I thought to myself "Why would I want to go to a restaurant that predominantly serves toast? What's so exciting about toast?" Having visited this weekend with out of towners, I now understand why! Five Points will now definitely be on my list of places to take people to show off the Buffalo foodie scene. Located on a side street, the approach to Five Points is very attractive - cool rusted wheat fence, grape vines adorning one of the buildings in the courtyard, attractive and tasteful wood decor that comfortably straddles the line between rustic and hipster. We were interested to see that on a Saturday at noon the line was out the door! Coming in, the main attraction appears to be the variety of different homemade toasts that Five Points offers. One thing that I always love to see is both sweet and savory options at a breakfast/brunch place, and Five Points didn't disappoint. We placed our order and snagged a table in the downstairs seating area. Windows open, plants on the windowsill, the sounds of the bakery humming along behind the counter - what a cool place! Our impression only continued to get better when our toasts were served. I'm not sure of the specifics of the other orders at the table, but I can say they looked delicious! Personally, I ordered the cinnamon swirl toast - 4 hearty pieces of amazing cinnamon smelling bread, served with a dish of icing to dip in and a little shaker of cinnamon sugar to top it all off with! Five Points Bakery gets five points from me. The inside of the building is very quaint and looks like an old bakery. As soon as you walk in the aroma of freshly baked bread smacks you in the face. When it comes to the menu it is slightly limited if you are looking for something other than toast or bread, but why would you come to a bakery if you weren't looking for bread? As far as bread goes they have a wide selection from dessert kind of breads to savory like a ciabatta with egg salad. The prices are a bit higher than you would expect for a slice of toast and coffee but it's still worth it. You can also buy an entire loaf of their freshly baked bread as well! I thought the coffee with the coffee ice cubes was interesting but maybe I was just expecting more? I've seen this hack online in the past so your coffee doesn't get diluted as the ice melts but I wasn't as impressed. I would highly recommend checking this place out because they are a solid option for anyone who enjoys breakfast or pastries! read more

The first thing you notice about this bakery is the ambiance. It has a very rustic, earthy-toned, nature-inspired feel with fresh (live) flowers and plants decorated throughout the cafe. It's not a surprise that they rent out the second floor area for weddings and meetings. It would be a perfect venue for a rustic barn wedding theme! The coffee here is pretty good. I ordered a drip and my husband ordered a mocha, and both were good. The beans, in my opinion, have a more sour, fruity flavor to it (which isn't my favorite). We also ordered cinnamon raisin toast ($8.75), which comes with peanut butter, sliced apple, and cinnamon sugar. The toast comes in four pieces, and was thick and soft and it was tasty with the add ons. I'm not too sure it was worth $10 (with tax) though. :/ I would definitely come back though! Fantastic simple brunch spot! What a great lill place for a low key breakfast/brunch. The hubby woke up grumpy but ultimately gave into my prodding of lets have a date. We had both wanted to try five points for awhile now and decided today's the day. I got a chai latte and the marble rye toast plate and added a soft boiled egg to my order. Hubby got a regular latte and the apple cider toast plate. Both plates were just right in their flavor profiles. And I was obsessed with the pickles that came with mine. We sat upstairs which i guess they recently opened and it was such a bright airy spot on a cold buffalo wintery day. Adored everything about Five Points Bakery! From the lovely outdoor seating area to the amazing toasts that were served beautifully, this place is the best! The Bakery is so spacious with lots of seating throughout, both inside and out. (With an upstairs and downstairs inside!) I'm still as charmed by Five Points Bakery as I first was when I recently moved to Buffalo almost three years ago. Now the bakery has upstairs seating in addition to the first floor and outdoor seating, which is a big plus. The staff is as friendly as ever. All the toast/spread combinations I've tried have been great, and I always love how nicely the food is plated. Who knew eating toast could be such a classy experience? It reminds me of English tea, though not in a stuffy way. As someone who generally eats more at lunch than at breakfast, I would say that this place is better for breakfast or a light snack, than lunch. You can add sides to your toast selection, like an egg, to bulk it up, but even though I added a soft-boiled egg to my multigrain toast as a lunchtime meal, I still wanted more food after I finished. My friend who added salami to her toast selection, and my husband, who had the extra special toast of the day (which was a bigger plate, with ham, egg salad and apple in addition to the bread), felt the same way and we wound up going elsewhere for dessert. Speaking of sweets, I've also tried the chocolate chip cookies and the cinnamon roll here. Both taste rather healthy-ish, with a whole-grain taste and texture. I don't mind it so much in the cookie, but if I'm going to eat a cinnamon roll, give me the fatty, white flour version. I live dangerously close to Five Points now, so I have a feeling I'm going to be working my way through more of the toast options. read more

Or are they talking and only sharing it with their immediate circle of friends, insisting that it's a secret and if they tell anyone else, they'll have to murder them? This morning we were driving down all too familiar city streets with a look of confusion on our faces, asking each other, "Where is this place?" Once found, my uncle parked the car on the street and we started walking towards the entrance. I noticed there was patio seating off to the right and when we entered the bakery... I swear we walked through a portal! The bakery was just lovely, especially for being located on Brayton of all places. I mean, right around the corner there are vacant properties that have broken windows, I would have never guessed such a gem existed nestled in the heart of the upper West Side. I instantly fell in love with it and I just wanted to get behind the counter and help them bake and invite all my friends to come check out the place! Speaking of the counter... The woman behind the counter taking our order was courteous but faintly aloof. She served my cup of coffee in a small cup without a saucer, I had to ask where the cream and sugar was and she didn't tell me that it came with a refill. I found out about the refill when I got home and read through some Yelp reviews. We ended up having a problem with our order. The server told us she would assist to rectify the situation, she left and never came back so we just ate the food we didn't want and re-ordered the food we did want, spending more money. I tell you what, $15 for toast this morning left me feeling like I could have done without ever checking out this place and I would have still lived a great life. As we were eating, customers were walking in and waiting in line to order and I noticed that they weren't just glancing over at us, they were making obvious stares at our table. It made me feel uncomfortable. I felt like I was sitting on the wrong side of the bakery or something and then I reminded myself that I had just walked through a portal and I laughed quietly to myself. The Cinnamon Apple Toast and Brie were delicious and complimented each other wonderfully. The wheat Cinnamon Bun was magnificent! I left the place full but I guess that's okay, the toast was phenomenal, probably the best toast I've ever eaten and I do like that they use local, quality ingredients. That might motivate me for a second visit or maybe not. As we left, I opened my Yelp App to complete a check-in and my uncle says to me, "I liked the place, had no idea it was here and the toast was great but I didn't like the vibe I was getting from the lady who took our order or the customers. They all seemed really snobby to me." New digs are sweet. So much work has gone into this. Well worth the effort. Reminds me of Elm Street Bakery, which makes sense as someone told me the Five Points owners really helped the Elm Street ones when they started out. There are similarities. The bread is still different but the vibe is now very much the same. Parking is street and I've not had an issue so far. Same neighborhood as the old location, really just a move across the street, but a whole new feel. And lots more space. Tables. Bar seating. You can make choices. Bread remains very tasty. I'll have to spend more time here to raise stars on the rest. But picking up bread is always a nice idea here. read more

My wife found this spot. I checked the reviews on yelp and saw a couple of 5 stars from Elite members. So the expectations were high. We decided to pass by on a Saturday morning. Five Points an old brick building with a nice garden area around - you really could make something out of this place - they are probably half way there. Service was very friendly. We ordered an iced coffee. My wife took the apple cake - was really good. I had the sauerkraut, raclette toast. Was very surprised when I got it - some toast (was good bread) with some sauerkraut beside and a little piece of - not melted - raclette cheese. Ok - that's it??? Sauerkraut was good. Place is ok for a morning snack - nothing spectacular - good place for hipsters. I have to add - I got a nice response from Kevin shortly after my review with some good explanation. I will admit it. I have an addiction to Five Points Bakery. My friends and I have developed an obsession. The place has an irresistible charm to it. Before I had ever been to Five Points, I did not see how people could possibly speak so highly of something as simple as toast. I am not even a huge fan of toast. I never go out of my way to order it. Trust me, it's just as yummy as everyone says it is. The whole grain toast is made with local and organic ingredients. It is delicious and fresh. The menu has about ten homemade toasts to choose from. Each toast is paired with a perfect type of cheese, jam or vegetable that compliments the bread perfectly. I have never had a toast that I didn't absolutely love, but my favorites are: 1. Extra Sharp Cheddar Toast- served with Bleu cheese, hot sauce, sour cream and pickles 2. Apple Cider Toast - served with Triple Cream Brie 3. Power Bread - served with goat cheese The toast is served in the most adorable way, with little mismatched serving dishes and antique utensils. I made my first ever trip to Five Points Bakery Saturday morning and it is a decision I did not end up regretting! Walking up to this place is super cool, why? Because it has a giant gate and I'm a sucker for cool entrance ways. It doesn't stop when you walk through the gate though, the building itself is pretty large and spacious inside and since it's full of bread, it's cool. The menu here might not be what everyone is looking for and honestly didn't even have many things I would be willing to order myself, but it's a creative/healthy menu that does offer a large variety of sandwiches and toast/fruit combinations. I settled on ordering some sourdough toast with cheddar cheese and prosciutto along with a delicious orange juice on the side (the cookie was for later, minus the small bite I took out of it). The toast was, well, toast, but it was tasty and went perfect with the tasty prosciutto and cheese and I have absolutely no complaints over that. The Natalie's orange juice was extremely thirst quenching and the perfect partner for my breakfast. The cookie was crunchy and full of cookie flavour, THUMBS UP. Overall, I had a great first trip to Five Points Bakery and even though there is not a huge list of things I would eat here I would definitely return for another taste. Ordering was very safe, the cashier was inside and we ordered through a very small window. She was helpful to tell us her favorite toasts, which ended up being delicious! They ran out of takeout containers but it was fine. Our toast came in plates wrapped in tin foil and stayed fresh. The outdoor seating was well decorated and well-spaced out. The only reason I'm not giving Five Points Bakery five stars is because it was a little bit of a wait to get our order out, but everything else was amazing and totally worth the wait! Had such a nice experience here on a Monday morning. Went around ten and the place was pretty busy. It had rained earlier so the outdoor furniture was wet, but the set up is so cute for a nice day. Lots of greenery and places to sit. Inside was a bit warm, wish they had a better air flow since they're baking probably all morning. Staff is super nice. Plenty of places to sit so even though they were busy, it was still low noise level. Selection of toast is phenomenal. They pair the toast with a variety of cheeses/jams. There's also a lengthy list of side items you can have added for a buck or so. Toast runs around $5-7. The quality is very fresh and tasty. Portions aren't huge, so if you have an empty tummy perhaps order some additional sides. Iced coffee was great. The cubes are frozen coffee, I do that at home and love it not watered down. Unfortunate for me today, excited to buy a rose latte, when two staff members raised their voice at me regarding my service (not emotional support) animal. it was embarrassing. When I informed both staff members it is not only discriminatory to speak to anyone with a service animal, calling so much attention to a patron is cruel. there was no kindness extended and both staff were full enough of anger they allowed me to leave empty handed. despite driving 25 minutes just to patron this bakery. ethically speaking, I will not return and will share my story with others. this was not the community feel I expected. very alienating. read more

Whoa. When I was a kid in buffalo I would have craved for a high quality local bakery. I never found any that did really high quality breads with grains other than white flour. I visited buffalo during the summer and we stopped by for a light brunch after a night of heavy buffalo food. We stopped at a coffee shop nearby and brought our iced coffees over to Five Points as it was a hot 85° Buffalo summer day. Everyone got different toasts and we all split a few cinnamon rolls and some coffee cake. I got the bread with goat cheese and apricot peach jam. It was delicious. You should tell everyone about the cinnamon rolls and breads at Five Points. They are all absolutely top notch and the menu has a nice variety of savory and sweet options to suit everyone's needs in your group. We sat inside and it was quite warm as the building doesn't have AC, but none of minded. There was outdoor seating but it was all very sun exposed and too hot to enjoy comfortably. Some sun shades would really make that space more desirable. As I don't live in Buffalo anymore I can't visit this place often, but I can recommend that anyone who reads this review should keep Five Points on their short list of must visit places in Buffalo. If you live in the city you've got no excuse for not visiting frequently. They also have local dairy products from nearby farms and eggs as well as other local products which you can buy or try. read more

I've had Five Points a few times at the farmers market (always delicious) but finally got down to their storefront. Due to Corona, they've adjusted their ordering so you come up to the closed door and speak to the cashier through a radio (a very good radio, minimal static). Definitely the safest ordering system I've seen thus far. Make sure to speak up though! I had their coffee and Apple Cider toast with Brie and was happily surprised by how sweet the bread was and that it included bits of apple. The Brie was a perfect compliment.
