Well I needed a little change up and went with a good ol spicy dog (not that they have a spicy dog, but I add in hot sauce and grilled jalapeños to have a little spice in my life)! Service was swift and professional and before I knew it that little fire dog was in my mouth to burn away my afternoon hunger! Little fries is always enough as they put that extra scoop in that fills my belly perfectly! Always fresh and seasoned to perfection, yes I could have gone Cajun, but have to limit that spice at some point! A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away I thought Five Guys was good food and a decent value. Then the pricing and some of their interesting store quirks got in the way and I stopped for a long time. Within the past year, probably for nostalgia, I've gone twice after dropping my kid off at college. By that time, it's later in the day, it's a weekend and a lot of things are closed or are closing so, whatever. Same as it ever was on the pricing. Burger, little fries and regular drink with tax has you at twenty bucks. Sure, it's nice to have the freestyle Coke machine that you can mix up whatever your heart desires, but, it's still twenty bucks. Ouch. Two other fun things are the A/C is usually ripping in here regardless of whether it's May, August or January and so is the music. Many years ago I stopped going to local locations when my kids were younger because they were blaring stuff with profanities and truly did not think once about it. Last week the 80's was pouring out of the speakers. I'm not sure the guy that took my order heard everything I said, but trust and believe, I know that David Coverdale is on his own and that Dee Snider wants to rock. The food is the food. The fries are still entirely too salty and chances are if you ask for ketchup, steak sauce or BBQ sauce on your burger, you'll need Tommy Lee Jones to do a hard-target search of every gas station, residence, warehouse, farmhouse, henhouse, outhouse and doghouse to find that BBQ sauce. The upsides to my visits here are that it's never busy and things are rendered very fast. But, it's pricey, I don't need to have Rob Halford screaming at near concert levels about breaking the law and if I say no, that I don't want to order a shake, there's no need to ask if I'm sure about that. This was my favorite call in and pick up place for a burger. I could pull over while driving, call them and drive 5-10 minutes to get a perfectly made burger for pick up. Unfortunately, they now require credit cards for phone orders. Cash orders are not accepted by phone. I do not like using credit cards for meals. Also don't want to store my card information with them. They were the top of my list for grab and go food. No criticism intended to the staff, they are always friendly and do a good job. Burgers are good too; I'll still get food here, just much less. Approx 8+ years of phone orders and paying on arrival means I cannot be trusted according to corporate, I guess. I can call almost any local restaurant in several nearby towns/cities to place an order and pick it up with cash. Now I'm exploring the menus of my local pizza places. My money is good with them. The burgers here are huge and taste very good. They are a bit pricey but all your condiments are included and they give you 4 orders worth of fries in a brown paper bag. I had the "regular bacon cheeseburger" which is two 2 patties, 2 slices of cheese, several pieces of nice crispy bacon, then I added mayo, pickles, lettuce, tomato and raw onions all on a sesame seed bun.. I got through half the fries and the entire burger. Boy was it delicious. This place also had this high tech soda machine where you place the cup in the machine. then use a touchscreen to choose which soda brand you want, then it gives you several different options for each soda flavor then you can pour your drink. if you are looking for a filling burger this is the place to go. By far one of the best burgers I ever had and their chain is ZAGAT rated since 2001 so you know it has to be good. As far as the atmosphere at this location the lady taking the orders was very pleasant and helpful since it was my first time ordering. Holy Eardrums, Batman! If you're looking for a place to have a quiet, relaxing lunch ... this ain't it. This is a testosterone-laden, burger joint ... on steroids. As I ate my burger, I was subjected to whatever song was blasting on the loudspeakers, with lyrics screaming, "I'm an anarchist!!" Yeah, beef and potatoes, with a side of punk rock. Most of the other customers during my visit were guys, but even the two female customers I saw had masculine hair styles. Anyway, this Five Guys, which is located at the end of a large shopping plaza, is smaller than the Warwick, RI location I'm used to; the layout of this restaurant is a bit odd, too. It was clean, however, and the employees did their jobs with appreciable enthusiasm. I was the only customer when I walked in just after noontime on Thursday (business picked up soon after), and of course, the first thing I noticed was the music - it was waaaay too loud! But at least most of the songs were decent. My order consisted of a 'regular' hamburger (which is really a double hamburger), which is made to order with your choice of toppings, plus regular sized fries and fountain drink. At just over $13, it's definitely pricey, although the quality is much better than Wendy's, McDonald's or Burger King. I just don't know if it's THAT much better than the aforementioned competitors to justify the steep premium. And, I think Smashburger is better than Five Guys, although their portions are not as generous as Five Guys. Five Guys is the place to go when you're really hungry and want a big, ol' greasy burger, and tons of greasy fries (they give you about twice as many fries than what the cup contains, and they spill over into the bag). It was indeed started by five guys, a father and his four sons who just wanted to open one restaurant. They had no idea what it was to become. Five Guys is a simple place with a simple menu and simple food. Just basic burgers and fries with free peanuts thrown in for good measure. You do get a choice of a bunch of different things like mushrooms, peppers and tomatoes to put on your burger but nothing fancy in here. You go up to the counter give your order and wait until they call your number. The fries are salty, greasy and good, and they give you heaps of them. Not only a huge cup but usually a whole bag full of things. Fries flowing everywhere and It's kind of cool to see the big bags of potatoes just kind of randomly scattered around the place. The restaurant was clean and the service was adequate but the music was beyond loud. Your literally couldn't even begin to have a conversation and I never heard music so loud in any restaurant before. I could actually hear it while driving in the parking lot and wondered where it was coming from. Old George Thorogood or Led Zep is great stuff but not at 120 decibels while I'm trying to eat a burger. An interesting fast food joint that is a bit different and a whole lot better than the other more traditional burger places. I heard that the founder of the restaurant had another son. I'm what you call your typical red blooded american guy. I love a good burger. So when this Five Guys opened up, to say I was excited is an understatement. Where else can you have a delicious burger and an abundance of fries while enjoying some classic rock on satellite radio? What I like about this particular location is that it's not way over crowded like the Seekonk location. I've been to the Seekonk one a few times and every time I go, finding an open table is like trying to find a needle in a hay stack. The Swansea location however is different. Finding a table was not a problem. If you go with someone, I suggest ordering one large fries. They definitely give you an extreme amount of fries per order. I went with my wife and my daughter yesterday. I ordered 1 large fry and it was more than enough for the three of us. Awesome laid back atmosphere, killer burgers, friendly service. I totally get that this is fast food - which is what I was looking for - a fast food burger and hot dog that wouldn't break the bank and had some flair. Let's face it, most of us jonesing for a hamburger are a little wary about certain big fast food chains at this point, and anyplace that actually puts fresh lettuce tomato and bacon on a burger is already ahead of the game. If I wanted a soy burger I'd go to the frozen section at the grocery store. The good -- hooray for good double patties, crispy bacon, great portion sizes, and made to order food. Really good hot dogs, and friendly people actually cooking your food. Flavored soda machine is nice, too. I didn't feel like my food was being violated by disenfranchised 16 year olds, either. The not-so-good -- while other people disagree with me here, I don't like these kind of fries. I'm a big fan of the golden shoestring type. These were what I like to call "dirty fries." You know what I mean -- pieces of skin stuck to them, some spices thrown on, and too greasy to be crunchy? You know the ones that kinda wad up in the bag like a tangle of worms, while other ones are like completely dehydrated or burnt and all skin, and you have to go home and - maybe - sort them and try to bake the heck out of the soggy ones in your own oven in hopes that they will get crispy but they burn before that happens? Those were the kind. I suppose if you're not super into fries and you eat them ASAP, unlike me who grabbed takeout, then maybe they would pass. Also, only American cheese on the menu, the orange kind. Yuck. I just hate fake cheese so I had to put that at home, too. So at that point, why not just buy some hamburg, right? So, yeah, I've experienced better, but I'd probably go there over the bigger chains if I was looking for a burger or a hotdog on the fly. read more

We ate here with my son who has a dairy allergy. Not only did the woman not get our order right, not know if the buns contained dairy ("yes they contain eggs" was the response when I asked as she didn't mention it at all & wasn't going to - eggs aren't dairy fyi), but she could care less that if she did feed us something that contained dairy, my son would be sick for 2-3 weeks. 3 different employees were asked about dairy in the bun, dairy allergy was written on the slip (I made her do it), & they still gave me a bun not knowing it contained dairy, but believing it didn't. I checked when they handed me the food, someone finally pulled out a product info card - buns contained dairy. Irate isn't even how I would describe my feelings. read more

My partner and I have been here twice. Didn't like it the first time he picked up food for us on the way home. Second time, we had a long busy day and he wanted to give it yet another try. I was too tired to argue the point. I should have argued. Burgers here are in my opinion, fair and with fairly basic toppings, nothing special. Don't even talk to me about the fries. They are greasy ( the bag was soaked through by the time we got the food home- it was just gross) we ordered the "cajun" which is salty beyond belief. If you like soggy, greasy and salty, then you are going to love these things. We tossed them in the trash! Frankly, I don't see why people like this place at all. I really love the huge selection of free toppings they offer for the burgers, the free peanuts while you wait, and the insane amount of fries they give you (A large order is a large soda cup filled to the top, then placed in a bag, and one more huge scoop dumped on top...which then falls all over the inside of the bag). If you're not hungry enough for a burger (or gluttonous enough to want more than a big juicy double cheeseburger and insane pile of fries), they also do hot dogs and grilled cheese sandwiches.
